Funding depends on the department and conditions. During my time in 2017, I received funding for the academic year or session (i.e. both semesters, 1st and 2nd), which was renewed the following year, totaling 4 semesters or two full academic sessions over 2 years. However, I had colleagues who only received funding for semester 1 and nothing in semester 2, and this seemed to fluctuate. It depends on departmental funding and availability. This information will be indicated on your I-20 on a semester basis, and the comments section of the I-20 can state that funding is provided for 2 academic sessions. This can greatly help in convincing visa officers at times. 😉. Good luck Jidesam01: |
Based on experience, I would advise you to defer your admission now. You have two options: Defer and proceed to the embassy at a later date, closer to the deferred admission date, to get your visa and make travel plans. Get your visa first and then defer. You will receive a new I-20 after deferring, and your visa will still be valid. Just ensure you have both I-20s when traveling. Best of luck! Smith000555: |

Is Electrical Engineering (Masters) on the list of shortage skills ![]() |
Congratulations to the college applicants that I have selected. Well, it was not an easy task, reviewing almost 100 emails. Am not a perfectionist, but in all fairness, I tried my possible best. Those selected know themselves and they are solely free to make comments here. Those not selected should not despair as many more chances will come out soon. Some call it Christmas gift, while I call it service to humanity in all capacity we can find ourselves. As at this month in 2016, I was still in Naija fight to get admission overseas. But now I hold an MSEE and am close to a potential PhD. If not for God and the support I got from people like @Walspring @texterem and many selfless individuals, I would not be in the US myself. So, glory is to God. We will continue to give back to the community for God's love. Insha Allah, I will pay the application fees for them before December ending or first week of January. |

UPDATE: I received almost 60 emails and I tried my possible best to respond to almost everyone, even within my busy schedule. I faced so many challenges as many entries/applicants/students failed to provide the actual details of documents I had initially requested. NOTE: **There is a difference between WES Credential Report and WES iGPA calculator ( I did NOT request for an iGPA) **The GRE is sufficient irrespective of the score, but many gave me a score where I could not even see their names. **This assist is for STEM students **The Application fee must NOT exceed $60. I expect students to have up to 3 different college choices. Feedback: FOR NOW: I have only selected 2 person(s) but will reach out to them before Xmas to finalize the login and pay their application fees. Other STEM students having a complete authentic WES report and GRE score may still reach out to me. |
I will provide an important update for this in a few minutes. kallowdean: |

Like I said: In the name of God & giving back to my community (my root) irrespective of the status of anyone, I will be paying application fees for at least 5 different students (For now; Graduate students only). Below is the release of the criteria for this selection. These are for the students targetting Fall of 2020. Few Criteria: Must be a STEM Course (Google meaning of STEM if it is a new word to you) The undergraduate course must in a way be related to the applied graduate course. The University/College must be at least within reputable, not community college. Must be able to show a GRE score (the actual score itself isn't relevant to me, but must be an average score) Must be enrolling for Fall (August 2020) The application fee must not exceed $60 (Only 5 students are on my budget for now) First come first serve basis based on complying with the Criteria. I WILL NOW SAY Good Luck. |

For those in the USA, and especially the Southeast States I wrote this HTML code for you to monitor the live streaming channel feeds covering the hurricane florence. Please (A computer or a laptop is recommended to view the code display for you and watch the updates live). Please, stay safe and if you need any help Dial 911 ![]() Download the below link and watch! |
I believe you can drop it off at DHL office, make sure all documents are included. same happened to my friend but his own was that the school did not indicate the funding details on the I-20, but a funding letter was issued by the department. So, embassy requested that he write the school to put the funding details on the I-20 and the school was contact immediately by my friend and the school did same and issued him a new I-20 this time indicating the funding on the I-20. So, he returned the I-20 and his passport back to DHL as instructed and his visas was issued .we are together now! ![]() Good luck to you too!!! Chidinma1984: |
contact me for rates, I have paid for people before you. Aseed: |
I strongly believe most american universities have a way to send I-20 to students because they know the documents are vital. they will give you options to use standard post or registered courier like DHL and other that have tracking numbers. I bet you choose a standard post, IF YES... then you will have to pray your I-20 arrive safely without hitting hurricane!!! Good luck Predstan: |
is this person a sponsor you already stated in your proof of funding with the school you applied to? Anybody can sponsor you to college and what matters is your ability to proof the ties between both of you and make sure you are consistent in all document ways you use to show that person's name as your sponsor. Good luck Registra111: |
if the statement is genuine and within 3-6 months. you may proceed... no cause for alarm. Good luck and May God in heaven grant you your visas. harriseen: |
Hello, what introduction letter do you refer to here? do you mean your funding letter and was this not reflected on the I-20. I do not think most VO has time to look deeply into letters when you articulate your responses well to meet the standard they expected. Good luck ![]() Peterjosh: |
Do a WES evaluation first and foremost, then see what the evaluation will result to in terms of your GPA, before you start applying to schools teefolz: |

Hi Guys! Apologies for my absenteeism, it's been a while. The Spring semester exams coupled with getting an internship for this summer break made us busy. However, I have a piece of note advice for the incoming Graduate students to Trumpland!!! Not the escapees oo ![]() Please, Please and Please... for the sake of living a responsible life after leaving Nigeria and also for the sake of maintaining your status, IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A GRADUATE ASSISTANTSHIP (Or any form of funding) & your Papa is not Aliko Dangote/Mike Adenuga and Co (You know what i mean here). Please defer your resumption till the program coordinator guarantee you a GA or better seek for GA in other schools. Those here know the gravity of what I am preaching Thanks all |
Oh Oh!!! I exhausted my budget and paid for 4 people needing WES this month... If you are unable to get a deal with another person by month end, you may reconnect with me. Hopefully, I should have Dollars then. Cheers! Chinewon88: |
Hello, You are supposed to ask this question before you apply, not after visa interview is being scheduled ![]() Feel free to check it your self from this list: https://www.dhs.gov/external/find-sevp-certified-school Only schools that are certified by the Student and Exchange Visitor Program are authorized to accept international students. You can use this page to make sure the school you are interested in is certified. Babsfad: |

US contact person to the best of my Knowledge is the DSO of your school stated on your I-20. i.e Designated school officials (DSO) One requirement for a school to be Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP)-certified is that the school must have dedicated employees for assisting and overseeing enrolled F and M students: Fill in the DSO name and details.
