The word respect as defined in the Oxford dictionary is said to be the COURTEOUS REGARD FOR A PEOPLE. It's is no longer news that Nigeria as a people are good at coining their own definitions to every word or situation just to suit their narrative and interest at that material point in time.

As an English speaking country, we are linguistically bound to go by the way of the Colonial imposed definition as being the correct and acceptable meaning for word in perspective...But it is sad to note that in our country, the definition of respect has been the direct opposite of what the word actually entails.

We have a certain region in Nigeria that are quick to use the Phrase , that a certain ethnic group does not respect their host, as a matter of fact, this narrative is been dragged to the social media front, to their political class who chooses any medium at any given opportunity to mouth this same ill conceived narrative about a supposedly neighbour whose only crime is that l, they decided to vote for candidates of their choice in an election, thy are upon a sudden branded enemies, with almost every sphere of their society pouring out vile languages at the same people.

The people they claimed disrespecting them, but lands lawfully, pay for shop rents lawfully, own legitimate businesses, pay their taxes, contribute one of the highest tax payable to the Custom services and the Lagos state government via using their seaport, hardly engage in any form of violent confrontations with them, has not dragged a portion of their territory in any record time, has not forcefully occupied any of their territory in history, float businesses that put food on the table of many of her citizens, infact the list is endless..Despite all this, this same people has to pay the price of demolition of their business premises, demolition of their buildings, using of state security apparatus to harass them at will all because of exercising their democratic right that earned them the tag of being disrespectful according to it's definition in the Oluwole dictionary of Ibadan contemporary English.

Now, according to Ogbomoso advanced learners dictionary 9th edition, Respect is the act of bullying and the repeated aggression against your host..This definition is the primary reason why a certain people will travel hundreds of kilometers away, seize the forest of their host, organize raids on the villages and farm settlements of their host, kill, pillage, and abduct their host at will..They are even extended the respect to the point of butchering their host to the point that many have to run away and settle as refugees in another country.

This same well cultured, well mannered, God fearing strangers took their respect to another level to the point of killing three traditional rules of their host in one day and as if that's not enough, this strangers decided to lecture other Nigerians on how to respect their host by attacking their host in Mike Two, Mike 12 , Ketu, Alagbado burn their shops, kill some their host in a clash of respect ..They also went as far killing one of the sons of the host in broad day and ran him over with their bikes at the admiration of their host who were owe at the manner of heavenly respect they are receiving from this persons.

Now, the same persons have decided to host a new Yam festival of respect or a respect competition amongst themselves to see whom amongst them is well brought up by their mum's by attacking their communities in Kwara state, killing as many as they could,burn their houses , abduct their people as the host have to flee their homes as a gesture reciprocating the respect from the strangers.

As a means of appreciating the the enormous respect from this strangers , who are in now land lords, decided to reward them with a defining silence, Bayo Onanuga is enjoying the respect, Remo Omokery is busy hobnobbing the respect to the point he lost his hypocritical voice because the Joy of the respect has overwhelmed him..All their Social media nobody's, sorry, influencers are all jubillating silently over the Burginham class respect they are receiving from the said strangers.

Finally, the situation in Kwara should ordinarily not be the business of other Nigerians as the host admires and sees Notting wrong in what is happening as they term it their own version of respect as long as it's not coming from the ones who do legitimate businesses and mine their business..So, let's all pretend as if Notting is going on in Kwara, ist just family affair as usual
