The PDP, which is the ruling party in Taraba state, also won most of the councilorship polls leaving only a few to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to the result declared by the Taraba State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC) on Saturday, the PDP won 13 of the state’s 16 councils.

Big Brother Naija housemate ThinTallTony has denied his own daughter, Emmanuella live on international TV.

This happened yesterday when ThinTallTony told another housemate Efe, that his ‘niece’ Ella would be celebrating her birthday today. And when Efe asked if Ella was his ‘God-daughter’, Tony said, “yes.”

This has sparked outrage among Nigerians who can't understand it. Just last week, Thin Tall Tony replied 'By the grace of God' when his fellow housemate Bisola asked him if he was single. Then during another discussion with housemates, ThinTallTony denied his entire family, saying he has no family, they are all dead.

For many people, including those calling of the cancellation of #BBNaija, the show has become too immoral especially because of the length housemates like Tony are going just to win the prize money of N25m.

Evicted housemate Gifty had said it was all a game, but is ThinTallTony falling too much in love with this game by denying every single member of his family?

Big brother has finally introduced some new rules that are to be followed by the big brother Nigeria contestants while in the house.

As an excited 2017 big brother kicks off today Sunday 22 this time around we hope to see a new presenter- Ebuka obi-uchendu. New housemates and new rules.

The aim of the show is to have fun; however for the duration of the show the Housemates are subject to Biggie’s rules. These need to be followed from the moment the Housemates enter the House until the moment they leave. Take a look at the below;

Big Brother's rules of law:

Rule 1: Housemates must respect the House and their fellow contestants at all times.

Rule 2: The Housemates will have no contact with the outside world and they are kept busy by the various tasks and challenges set by Biggie. Being in such close proximity with a house full of strangers can be tough going and Biggie has set rules that need to be followed.

Rule 3: Big Brother has complete control over everything going on in the house and Biggie never discusses anything that goes on outside of the house with anyone inside.

Rule 4: The Housemates are filmed 24/7 and they must have their microphones on at all times. The viewers must be able to hear all conversations at all times and are not allowed to whisper or cover their mouths while speaking to fellow Housemates. They are also not allowed to reveal the location of the cameras and microphones.

Rule 5: Diary Sessions are one of the most important aspects of the show’s success and are compulsory. Once a Housemate is called to the Diary Room, they must drop everything they are doing and proceed to the Diary Room. Failure to do so will result in a fine, a strike, or worse. Housemates can request to enter the Diary Room at any time of the day or night. Sunglasses and hats are not permitted in the Diary Room. The door for the Diary Room will be locked when not in use and no one is allowed into the room if it is occupied.

Important to note:
Diary Sessions and Nominations are compulsory and Housemates need to give valid reasons for nominating a fellow Housemate. Biggie reserves the right to take his time to answer any questions, but will always return with an answer. Biggie will not entertain any personal questions. What happens in the Diary Room stays in the Diary Room and Housemates cannot discuss anything that happens in the Diary Room. Exceptions to this rule are events such as Head of House Tasks.

Rule 6: Nominations are important and Housemates are not allowed to discuss the reasons for their nominations with anyone other than Big Brother. If a Housemate does so it will be interpreted as a deliberate attempt to influence others. They are not allowed to communicate via hints, signs, symbols or written notes. Housemates are not allowed to enter into any alliance or scheme to plot the downfall of fellow Housemates. Communication in the house in Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa and any other local language other than English is not permitted.

Rule 7: Housemates are not allowed to strike, intimidate, threaten or act in any way that can be construed as violent towards any fellow Housemates. This could result in immediate disqualification.

Rule 8: Housemates are not allowed to bring the following into the house:

- CDs, CD players, radios, iPod, iPad
- Walkmans, DVD/Blu-Ray players, televisions
- Mobile phones, Smart phones
- Computers, Laptops, Notepads
- Video game consoles, Computer games
- Calendars
- Diaries
- Pen and paper or any writing materials
- Eyeliner (Or any other make-up that could be used for writing.)
- Alarm clocks
- Watches
- Any electronic equipment requiring batteries
- Weapons, drugs and narcotics
- Medication (except for agreed personal medication in consultation with Big Brother)
- Clothes with prominent logos, clothes with fine stripes or dots, silk clothes, solid white clothes.)
- Your pet cat and your children (although, you can bring pictures of your children and your cat)

Rule 10: Housemates can bring the following into the House:
- Cigarettes / cigars / tobacco
- Reading material, either a book or magazine.
- Moisturising cream
- Shaving foam, deodorant, shower lotion, pack of razor blades
- Day cream, night cream and eye cream
- One cleansing lotion. Cleansing tonic.
- Perfume or after shave
- Hairspray/ gel hair conditioner and wax
- Lip balm
- Musical Instrument (provided it doen’t need batteries)

Rule 11: Biggies’ word is law and all Housemates must comply with his requests at all times without fail.

Rule 12: Only Biggie can open up the storage room where the Housemates will find everything that they need for Tasks, Challenges etc. Biggie will inform the Housemates that the Storage Room is open and the Head of House will proceed there to retrieve what Biggie has put there for the Housemates daily and weekly needs

First and foremost, the aim is to have fun but not at the expense of others in the house. We look forward to sharing this amazing experience with you and may the best Housemate win.

The Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company, PHEDC, has confirmed that three people died as a result of electrocution in Port Harcourt.

PHEDS says it has also commenced investigations into reports of multiple electrocutions around Rumuomoi and Rumuorosi communities in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.

This was made known by the spokesman for the PHED, John Onyi who confirmed that only three people died from electrocution in the area, contrary to earlier reports about five casualties.

Onyi , who spoke in an interview with DAILY POST said the PHED was already discussing with the families of the victims.

He said, ” It was quite an unfortunate incident. We were shocked when the information reached our office. It was however am accident.

“We have had some of our officials visit the bereaved families but in the meantime, investigations are still on and we call for peace.

“Our men are yet submit a report on what actually caused the accident. The contact we gave had with the bereaved families will be sustained. The matter has also been reported to the Police.”

Priest Light Monyeki from Soshanguve, South Africa tried to prove his congregation were above death by feeding them rat poison and the results were disastrous…

The Priest took it upon himself to prove his follower’s were superhuman and immortal, with a seriously dangerous stunt. The priest declared to his congregation they should not fear death, as they will not die, before proceeding to pour bottles of water contaminated with rat poison into their mouths…
He said:
We do not need to proclaim faith because we are believers. Death has no power over us.
Horrifyingly, many of his followers ran forward to take a fatal drink from the treacherous bottle.
The priest took a swig from the poison fluid before pouring it down the throats of his loyal congregation.


Disastrously, yet predictably, the members of his church started to complain of stomach pains and by the evening, five of them were tragically dead.

A further 13 more were taken to hospital for the ingestion of the lethal drink but despite all of this Monyeki allegedly denied responsibility. The horrendous incident has sparked a police investigation, but no arrests have been made at present.

Nollywood has got many great actors but one who has continuously stood out over the course of his career is Yoruba actor, Odunlade Adekola.


Odunlade Adekola started his career back in 1996 but became active in 2006. The actor ruled the Yoruba sector to a core but he has since made his way into the English crowd where he seems loved and respected just as much.

While it cannot be contested that Odun is a great and phenomenal actor, the news and reports trailing him in recent times has left people wondering as to what exactly might be happening to the young man who supposedly has everyone in his corner.

Two years ago, he got his first English debut in the movie ‘Taxi Driver’ one would have thought that Odun would be proud of this step, the actor was reported to have been un-bothered about the state of the movie to the extent that he failed to promote it despite the fact that he was paid higher than his usual fee.



Truth is, Odun’s role could have been interpreted better by anyone...

His actions towards the movie could have been said to be a mistake that could not be avoided, Odun pulled yet another stunt with Funmi Holder’s movie ‘The Grudge’. He was said to have failed to turn up at the location while the movie was being shot and his hotel room left vacant because he failed to show up.


To add to it, Odun failed to show up at the premiere after stating that he was going to be there and once again failed to promote the movie on any of his social platform.

His recent action is his lack of commitment to a contract he had signed with the former MD of M-Net Africa, Biola Alabi on her recent movie. It was reported that Odun had failed to show up once again. These re-occurring acts from him has shown that Odun is beginning to thread a path of those who have taken their fame for granted.


Odun is starting to lose his credibility amongst his colleagues especially at a point where his career seems to be doing so well. It is important to ask if Odun has lost the touch of professionalism?

Nigerian music is at a stage whereby if you cannot swim with the tide you would be washed away so quickly that recovering would be so hard to swim back up to the surface. This illustration tells the tales of some very outstanding and talented Nigerian musicians who were once the creme de la creme of the Nigerian music industry but their glory days have been cut short due to some circumstances that is way beyond them.

During their A days they had it all, the ladies, fans, media, attention, fame and fortune but they also gave us very good music that I find very hard to fathom why their gift for making such good music had waned. But notwithstanding they haven’t faded completely as they are still very much in the music industry and their impact is still felt but even with all the effort they have put into making a comeback to their good old days, it seems not to be working for them. Below are 5 good Nigerian artistes who have tried but could not get back those vibes their fans knew them for.

Wande Coal



Wande Coal once referred to as the man with the golden voice who could make a grown man cry just by hearing him sing hasn’t been the same since he parted ways Marvin Records boss and producer, Don Jazzy. Wande Coal career took a nose dive when he began to have problems with Don Jazzy but we all thought been a talented musician that he is, he was going to bounce back and continue to give us those good music he is know for, but he never really did make the comeback we were expecting. Although he usually drops a single or two every year and he also released his much anticipated second album “Wanted” which failed to live up to our expectation. Wande Coal is still very much relevant in the industry and he is revered for his strong soprano voice and good song writing skill but he hasn’t really been the Wande Coal we once used to know.

Everyone who knew the days of Gongo Aso can attest to the fact that 9ice was a big deal then and he was one of the biggest African artiste at the time, that he was called up to perform at Mandela’s birthday with other top international musicians. Those days 9ice was on fire and he released hits upon hits back to back with his three albums going platinum. But he couldn’t keep up with the form he started with and all of a sudden his career which was affected by his marital affair with his first wife made him take a break from music and by the time he returned back to the scene he struggled to give his fans those music that they loved. He never quit instead he kept working on improving on his craft to become better with every song and album he released. 9ice is still relevant but those Gongo Aso days are gone but we love him still.

Everybody loves Faze. He was that guy you just have to love because he has that voice you can only dream of. Yes that is Faze for you, the ladies man. He was the man of the moment when he released his second studio album “Independent” in 2006 with hits like “Kpo kpo di kpo”, “Letter to my Brother”, “Tatoo Girls”, “Need Somebody”, “Kolomental” and many others. His third studio album”Originality” released in 2008 was also very big with hit songs like “Tatoo Girl (Remix)”, “Originality”, “Am in Love”, Story of my Life” and others. Faze was so big then that after that period he failed to keep up with the way he started and he struggled afterward by releasing one song sometimes non in a year. I’m sure he still has a lot to offer and his fans can’t wait to hear from him.

Who remembers the only rapper with a MSc? Yes I know many of you will remember that line used by Naeto C in his hit song “Ten Over Ten“. Naeto C was so big way back in 2008 when he released his first commercial hit single “U Know My P” and went on to release more hits “Kini Big Deal”, “Ten Over Ten”, “5 & 6” and “Tony Montana” featuring D’banj. Ever since then he hasn’t been able to give us those kind of hit songs. He took a break after he got married to his long time girlfriend, he tried to make a comeback with the release of some singles and an album which didn’t really make a mark like he had expected.

The name D’banj commands respect for those who really know who the Koko Master is and his achievement as an artiste in Nigerian who took Afrobeat to the global market. He practically paved the way for the new act we have now to be heard all over the world. D’banj was once Africa’s biggest and marketable artiste for several years. You can’t even begin to count the number of hit songs he’s got because if you do I can assure you that you would loose count of them because they are a lot. There are very few artiste who can come close to his achievements both in the local in international scene. D’banj music career kicked off when he joined forces with his friend and business partner Don Jazzy and together they formed Mohit Records. He released his debut single “Tongolo” and “Why Me” which catapulted him to the mainstream music and he never looked back combining Afrobeat with Afropop with the help of Don Jazzy to become the most sort after artiste in Africa. His career took a downward slide when he parted ways with his long time friend and producer, Don Jazzy and ever since his music career has never been the same again. Though he kept dropping new singles occasionally, he never really found his feet back.
