A Nigerian newspaper and Online version of the Vanguard, a daily publication in Nigeria covering Nigeria news, Niger delta, general national news, politics, business, energy, sports, entertainment, fashion, lifestyle human interest stories, etc Cooking Gas: Marketers protest 75% price hike ON November 12, 20195:01 AM/IN Business /BY Nwafor Cooking Gas By Ediri Ejoh Marketers of Liquefied Natural Gas, LPG, otherwise known as cooking gas, have challenged the current imposition of 75 per cent price hike on the product by federal government. Gabon Begs Aubemyang To Return (Opens In A New Browser Tab) This development may lead to possible scarcity of the product across the country, as the marketers have threatened to down tool. The marketers are concerned over what they described as an indiscriminate artificial hike in the price of the product by 75 per cent in the last two weeks. The Executive Secretary of Nigerian Association of Liquefied Petroleum Gas Marketers, NALPGAM, Mr Bassey Essien, expressed this concern in a press briefing in Lagos. He said that in the last couple of days the price of a 20 metric tonnes of LPG, which hitherto sold for N3.15 million, suddenly N4.2 million. He stated that a few hours, thereafter, the price moved to N4.2 million even though the same product has been in the storages of these terminals when the price was even N3.5 million. He noted that the price hike will ultimately dovetail into high prices to the consumers, adding that the consumers will, in turn, blame marketers, who, unfortunately, are also caught up in the web of price hikes. According to him, the price increase is not the handiwork of marketers, but, rather that of the terminal owners, importers and the NLNG. His word: “At this time of the year in the past, price hikes used to be attributable to the winter season, increased demand for heating energy and international price index. This, we have consistently questioned why a product in abundance in our country should become such a victim of any slightest issue occurring internationally.” “Marketers are equally bemoaning the situation as the development has adversely affected business planning. If the trend is not halted immediately, the price of a 12.5kg cylinder of cooking gas may soon sell for over N6, 000.00 and well out of the purchasing power of the average consumer. Nigeria/China Deal: FG Okays $3.9bn For Abuja-Itakpe Rail Line (Opens In A New Browser Tab) “This brings to questioning when the issue of product availability will ever be holistically addressed. We cannot deepen the use of LPG if the availability of the product is not guaranteed, ‘’ he added. Stressing the need to urgently reverse the price hike, Essien called on the NLNG to flood the market with cooking gas and increase the frequency with which the vessels deliver LPG from Bonny to the terminals particularly in the Lagos axis. He said NLNG should supply LPG to other coastal terminals outside Lagos to reduce the inherent pressure on the terminals in the South West and also deploy vessels of smaller capacities to access the coastal terminals if product availability must be achieved. |

I was a pharmacy technician, a soldier, with the Military Hospital Port Harcourt, in Rivers State. After serving from 1985 to 1987, I found myself desiring to leave the service for greener pastures, I and my younger sister (the then miss FM 1986 Flora Amangala) targeted going to London. I had already bided my job an unceremonious leave when it dawned on us that we had entered the wrong hands. We were duped. A speed boat, a Volkwagen car and lots of properties went the wrong way and the young man Alatari Taribo who did the connection, also lost much to the tricksters, although his was not as much as ours. Alatari Taribo was a member of Brotherhood of the Cross and Star (Rumukwurushi Bethel) and being highly dejected during our visit to his place we all headed to the bethel and that was the beginning of my journey into the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star. I was made to understand that the promised comforter had come. Others insinuated God had come to earth to dwell in the form of a man. Chief Melford Okilo (one-time governor of Rivers State) was a member too. I met so many top personalities (whites and blacks). I was overwhelmed by the signs that manifested at 34 Ambo St. Calabar, where a mere mortal Olumba claimed the personality of God. Due to manipulations of an homosapien, I believed that God had come to dwell among us. He told us times without number that he sent his son our Lord Jesus Christ to the world and since they killed him, he now decided to come not to die anymore. We went ahead preaching that, far and near despite stiff opposition. So many lost their lives. Many found it strange that a man that does not physically go out should be appearing here and there (mostly in people’s homes, behind closed doors). Due to these manipulations, many donated their children to him for life and these are the 144000 virgins (young girls and boys) whose duties are to kneel, sing, and pray, welcoming him as God from time to time, whether Olumba was awake or asleep. Sister Helen was the one serving the father faithfully. Rowland the son was not the serious type. I made a great blunder by writing two pamphlets calling Olumba God ( In Tune With the Godhead and Thank You My Father ). My late mother Mrs. Roseline Obhisi Amangala was a Deeper Life member in Ogbia town. With deep pain in her heart she tried to make me leave Brotherhood. From time to time, their men of God would come and since I believed I was in the right place, I snubbed them. I can now imagine how she felt. Not only that I joined the Brotherhood, but I also took my younger one along. Mum tried to send my late uncle Amos to call me for a family meeting but I was so involved to the point that I refused. The reason I am writing this article is that a reporter from one of the newspapers last month misquoted me that I said I brought my mother into Brotherhood – such never happened. I called their attention to it, and I want everybody to take note. For God’s sake, my Mum never had anything to do with Brotherhood of the Cross and Star. She kicked against it with her soul, spirit, and body. During our stay, there used to be a yearly programme where men and women would visit Biakpam and both sexes would bath together in a small stream, naked. My husband was unfortunate to partake in it once but I give God the glory that He (God) never permitted me to partake. Those crusaders who went to Osun State in year 2001 to preach about Olumba’s Godhead, about 12 were killed and Olumba claimed that the dead souls were already with him. My husband got an insect bite on his right hand which developed into something else, bringing out blood and pus regularly for a year and half. He was accused that he donated his hand to Olumba, so on summoning courage to reach 34 Ambo Street, Olumba said he was the cause and that my husband should accept everything as his will. My husband returned home. With prayer and fasting his hand was restored. In those days, when devotees like myself went to 34 Ambo Street, Calabar, after overstaying, a Christ servant would come, asking everyone to vacate the hall. If you insisted to stay, your load would be flung out with the command: “Go and proclaim that God is here on earth; you have no duty just hanging and serving God alone (selfishly).” There was this period I visited Olumba. We had a vigil in 34 Ambo and in the morning I noticed two men in mufti moving close to the testimony place. I dozed off, only to be woken up by the lady next to me to see what just happened. The two men were running out naked. On asking about happened, she said that the two men confessed that they were sent to test Olumba’s powers and that Olumba reacted. This was the very first negative sign I got. I wondered: if truly these men did not know that God had come to dwell with man, would that justify Olumba making them mad? Is he truly the God he claimed to be? I started realising how I stupidly combed the whole Odual district of Rivers State for Olumba. How we were fond of going round with the gospel that except people repented and accepted God and his new name (Olumba Olumba Obu), they would not make heaven. Same also in some communities in Bayelsa State. Extensive work was done in Lagos State, too. On April 14, 2000, Olumba crowned Rowland as the “Christ”, the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. And I started wondering if both of them knew what they were doing. Roland had never been a spiritually minded type. Does he really know the implication of bearing such a name and title? How can a man threaten his old and blind father to commit and continue such an abomination, especially given a damn to the spiritual consequences, which could be highly disastrous. It was not long before the division in Brotherhood started. He happens to be a gold digger. We wondered aloud how God could go blind. The animosity between Rowland and Helen was getting worse; fighting started taking place between their supporters. With Olumba still breathing the air, a vehicle was set ablaze in 34 Ambo. Christ witness Imme Akpakpan, a devotee to Helen, was almost killed by Rowland’s group. Blood was flowing; Helen was forced to leave with her group to her husband’s place. Brotherhood at this time became two. There was nothing a blind old and weak father could do. All occultic powers disappeared into thin air. We were told to shun wealth and seek God’s kingdom. Rowland was practically the contrary. Olumba constantly warned us to abstain from eating meat and fish and that he could manifest in any of these things to visit us. Many complied. In places like these, apart from leading many to hell, the people lose much money and properties especially land donations since they are misled that God is in their midst. A lot lose their lives in most cases when defending a mere human. A GREAT CALAMITY INDEED! GOD, HELP YOUR CHILDREN! Countless times Olumba claimed to give the holy spirit to people. There was this yearly programme where a lot of us gathered expecting to receive the holy spirit from Olumba as he claimed. A lot of people including our white brothers and sisters used to partake. Lord, have mercy! Olumba Olumba Obu claimed so many things: the Promised Comforter, God, mention it. He said he came not to die anymore, just as Guru Maharajji is also claiming to be the Perfect Master and there is nothing perfect in him. They are busy destroying souls. What a pity! I left with my husband in year 2001. God has seen us through many assassination attempts. After addressing the press in 2003, Olumba gave up the ghost and was secretly buried. AND THE god DIED AT LAST. The foolishness of man! Despite these, the level of deception rose to the stage where if asked by journalists and their members from afar, the answer is always “he is sleeping”. To those from nearby places, he has ascended into heaven. Lies upon lies! How long will mankind continue to wallow in darkness? Who will they blame when they deny so great a salvation? In the year 2001 God brought us out from the kingdom of darkness into his marvelous light. I came to experience the beauty and power of God. God has been faithful. We had to personally burn our soutan in spite of tales that whoever burns his or her soutan will go mad or meet with sudden death. Lot of souls have been saved and our lives have been filled with exploits. My very dear mother, my sweet mother, rest in bosom of the lord. Your heart’s desire came to pass far after your departure. I HAVE LEFT BROTHERHOOD, A VERY NOTORIOUS BROTHERHOOD, THE BROTHERHOOD OF LUCIFER. I wonder why my brothers, Roland, Guru, etc, will deliberately choose HELL and leading lots of souls to hell too. If you refuse to repent, YOUR BLOOD & THEIRS BE ON YOU. I command right now in the mighty name of Jesus that all that are held hostage in this Brotherhood and its likes to be set free. REPENT AND BE SAVED. • Pastor Lovina Amangala Iburene, who appears with husband Enoch in the photo accompanying this article, is of The Truth Ministry/The True Lovers of Christ World Charity Ministry, Lagos. By Abubakar Mahmoud Ahmed Early this week, a younger colleague alerted me to a story that was making the rounds on social media. A mushroom “civil society group” called COALITION AGAINST CORRUPTION AND BAD GOVERNANCE, CACOBAG, with address at Abeokuta Expressway, Abule Egba, in Lagos State, issued a screaming press release, alleging “license racketeering rocking the National Broadcasting Commission”. Mallam Modibbo Kawu, DG NBC Buhari Writes Senate, Declines Assent To NBC Amendment Bill(Opens In A New Browser Tab) How the mushroom group located in a ghetto of Abule Egba in Lagos State was able to discern “racketeering” allegation, that is “rocking the National Broadcasting Commission”, must be one of the wonders of contemporary life; but it seemed so obvious, that those behind this latest story about the NBC, were merely ratcheting up a figment of their own imagination, but one that was part of an orchestrated campaign, against Malam Modibbo Kawu, the Director General of the NBC. And it didn’t take too long in the press release, to see through the effort by the flotsam and jetsam of the Lagos “civil society” rabble. They gleefully announced their discovery, which must be like Einstein’s discovery of the grand Theory of Relativity. CACOBAG (like truly irresponsible windbags),announced that: “Information at our disposal indicate that the embattled (embattled? Who declared the war?) DIrector General of the NBC, Mallam Ishaq Modibbo Kawu recently (RECENTLY? The CACOBAG windbag ruffians couldn’t even get the exact dates?), allocated six slots of Radio license to his private company”. The disturbing discovery The group went further to allege the “disturbing discovery of how the DG NBC surreptitiously allocated six slots of radio license to his private company, Word, Sound and Vision (WSV) Ltd to himself (SIC) in the recent allocation of Radio and Television broadcast license to private operators in the country”. Not done, CACOBAG, headed by a certain Toyin Raheem, went further to state that “Mallam Modibbo Kawu who is currently being prosecuted along with others in court by the ICPC over a N2.5 billion fraud case gave himself through his private company six prime radio license slots in Abuja, Lagos, Kaduna, Kano and two in Ilorin Kwara State”. Having made the “earth-shattering” discovery, CACOBAG said it was “totally unacceptable”; it was “an abuse of office and a display of cheer (CHEER?) greed and racketeering”. So, “we (THE WINDBAGS) at CACOBAG are calling on President Muhammadu Buhari to take immediate action”. And just in case Nigerians forget what I have stated in two previous articles, concerning Malam Modibbo Kawu, the windbags of “CACOBAG”, revealed again just what their sponsors have desperately longed for and which is tearing their hearts: “we wonder why Modibbo Kawu who is facing trial on charges of corruption and criminal conspiracy is still allowed as the DG of NBC”. CACOBAG and the Lagos-based political group that sponsors them, have been terribly sad, that the ICPC trial-by-media and subsequent arraignment in court, have not led to Malam Modibbo Kawu’s removal. They have not been able to put their man, a Lagos-based journalist who was a former Commissioner in Lagos in the position of DG NBC, true to their wish, and as part of the agenda to control as many strategic institutions as possible, by the Lagos-based greedy political machinery. Not surprisingly, this week, the CACOBAG press statement has been reported in THE NATION and THE PUNCH newspapers and some of the online outlets, that have been at the heart of the campaign of vilification against Malam Modibbo Kawu, the DG of the NBC. Painstaking investigations at the NBC HQ I wanted to know the truth of the allegations as well as the really true position in respect of the licensing of Radio and television stations by the NBC. So early this week, I made very painstaking investigations at the NBC HQ in Abuja, in respect of these allegations. I swear to Allah, that I made the investigation with an open mind, and with the sole purpose of knowing the truth of the matter. My informants at the NBC gave me an opportunity to ask questions, and they also quoted to me the relevant papers on the same subject. These professionals expressed surprise about the development, saying that my inquiry was the first time they were being made aware of an alleged “license racketeering” issue at the NBC. I was informed that even the DG, Modibbo Kawu, only got to know about the press release by CACOBAG, when he got a call from a reporter from THE SUN newspaper. The reporter had informed him (Malam Modibbo Kawu), that his editor wanted to know Kawu’s view concerning the subject. It was later that day, that someone forwarded to him by WHATSAPP, the press statement by CACOBAG. At the NBC, I was informed, that the last set of 147 radio licenses were approved and issued by President Muhammadu Buhari on September 24th, 2018. That was eight months ago. How come that CACOBAG is just “discovering” the subject of their press release? So the statement by CACOBAG alleging “licensing racketeering rocking the National Broadcasting Commission”, was therefore a figment of the imaginations of the “CACOBAG busybodies. It was clear, that the story must have come from the desperate desire of those behind the ICPC case, to add fuel to fire, with the new allegation, and who must have been working with insiders in the NBC; those in the Commission, who have regularly, secretly, released documents of the Commission to external clients. I was further educated, that there are certain basic facts about licensing procedures that those behind the mischievous story were patently ignorant about. The DG of the NBC cannot and does not have the power to “allocate licenses” to himself or to anyone else. This is because all radio and television licenses are approved by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. It is the president’s prerogative to approve (or withhold) licenses, to properly registered Nigerian companies, not the NBC Director General. What the NBC does, is to compile the list of applicants; these are then submitted to the Presidency. From that point, the NBC or its Director General, has no power to influence which company is then issued the license by the President. That has always been the case. I was then shown the applications for licenses by the company Word, Sound & Vision Multimedia Limited. The applications dated to September 26, 2008, eleven years ago. Similarly, I discovered that the PDP Presidents of the period, late Umaru Yar’adua and Goodluck Jonathan refused to give Word, Sound & Vision Multimedia Limited licenses, despite the fact that it met all the NBC’s laid down criteria for licensing. I was later informed at the Word, Sound & Vision Multimedia Limited Office, just how intense was the effort they made to speak to the top people in the administrations concerned, and a former PDP Governor, who became highly influential during the Yar’adua administration spoke forthrightly: “Modibbo we in the PDP will never give you a license; not after all that you’ve written against us in your weekly columns”. I was informed that that Malam Modibbo Kawu and his team at Word, Sound & Vision Multimedia Limited stopped bothering about trying to get the radio licenses. At least under the PDP administrations. Modibbo Kawu was appointed Director General of the NBC in May, 2016; and one of the first steps he took, was to be completely excluded from the directorship of the company, Word, Sound & Vision Multimedia Limited. At the company’s office, they told me that he has not even visited the offices of the company in the past three years. But the people running the company re-raised the issue of their application, and these were shortlisted and submitted, along with 162 other applications for commercial radio licenses, not to mention the television, campus and community stations. In the exercise of his powers, President Muhammadu Buhari approved 147 licenses, including those for Word, Sound & Vision Multimedia Limited. There was no way that the NBC DG could have influenced the list that the president approved. The people at the NBC here in Kaduna, told me further to my inquiry, that getting the approval was one thing, and that is often only the first step. They become effective and can be called licenses in real terms, only when the license fees have been paid and the licensee is issued frequencies to operate as radio stations. I got to know that in the 2015 round of licensing done by President Goodluck Jonathan, there was a company that was issued 14 licenses; another one got six; there was another one that got 4 and yet another, owned by Mr Godfrey Ohuabunwa, that was given seven licenses. It turned out that most of these licenses were not paid for, and so are not on air today. As I stated earlier, I met the lawyer working as General Manager of Word, Sound & Vision Multimedia Limited; at their offices/ studios in Jabi, and he confirmed that they were issued the licenses; but since September 2018, they have not been able to pay, and consequently, they have not been issued frequencies to operate. The lawyer expressed surprise that the CACOBAG people were mischievously linking the licenses to a so-called racketeering issue at the NBC. He said that as a bonafide Nigerian company, Word, Sound & Vision Multimedia Limited was entitled to seek the licenses, and he added further, that Malam Modibbo Kawu was removed from everything related to the company, from the moment that he was appointed the Director General of the National Broadcasting Commission. What I discovered further, was that licenses issued by the President are actually provisional and they translate to nothing, until they have been paid for, and the NBC’s Engineering Directorate issues the frequencies for transmission. So the question to ask is simple. Why have the windbags of CACOBAG gone to town with their allegation about “license racketeering” at the National Broadcasting Commission? The reason appears very clearly. The sponsors of the ICPC trial-by-media, against Malam Modibbo Kawu and Pinnacle Communications Limited, as well as the arraignment in court, have seen the way that their case is crumbling under cross examination. It is looking like the court route is not going to earn them the prize of removal of Malam Modibbo Kawu from his position as Director General of the National Broadcasting Commission. So they have chosen to go through a different route. There are so many “For Hire”, unemployed scum bags in the urban centers of Nigeria today, who call themselves “civil society activists”. Lagos political machinery The Lagos political machinery that is desperately seeking the ouster of Malam Modibbo Kawu as DG of the NBC, so that they can implant one of their own, as part of the systematic takeover of all strategic Federal institutions, controls and funds many of these so-called “civil society” groups; the windbags of CACOBAG belong to the Lagos political rabble that believes it must destroy everyone that is in the way of their inordinate ambition to takeover every strategic institution in Nigeria. They work with other blindly ambitious individuals inside the NBC; these are the ones who release NBC documents, for the ridiculous purposes, such as has been done by the windbags of CACOBAG . But in this, their inordinate agenda, they will also fail. The Lagos political group does not own Nigeria. It cannot use blackmail and dirty politics to hound decent, hardworking Nigerians from genuine service to our country. They cannot be allowed to malign the characters of patriots genuinely serving Nigeria. Neither the windbags of CACOBAG nor their sponsors in the Lagos political machinery, will be allowed to destroy the character of Malam Modibbo Kawu, just because they want this former Commissioner to be forcibly implanted as DG of the NBC. There was nothing like a “license racketeering” at the NBC, as alleged by the hired guns of CACOBAG. It is a futile attempt at creating a cheap scandal that has no basis, but which is the manner the Lagos political machinery has always operated. Nigerians have now seen through their evil plans against an innocent patriot, Malam Modibbo Kawu. Their plot will not succeed. The Holy Qur’an in Suratul Al-Anfal (8:30) said: “…they plot and plan, and Allah too plans, and Allah is the Best of planners”. And who has been fighting inec and apc and court case in abuja against giving bauchi similar treatment as to that of kano, then come and argue |
only Dogara has the real politic influence in the state. Dogara was the one who brought apc to bauchi, he single handedly sponsored all its activities in the state and at last M.A became governor. Now he sponsored Kauran Bauchi, pdp, and he won defeating to former governor also. |
Bauchi Rerun: PDP writes INEC, says no basis for supplementary elections March 22, 2019Nasir Ayitogo PDP National chairman, Uche Secondus. PDP National chairman, Uche Secondus. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has written to the Chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mahmood Yakubu, expressing its displeasure over its decision to conduct supplementary governorship election in Bauchi State. According to a letter dated March 21, 2018 and signed by its National Chairman, Uche Secondus, the PDP said such decision contradicts provisions of the electoral act as well as the INEC guidelines for the conduct of elections. A Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday ordered the INEC not to go ahead with its plan to collate, conclude and announce the results of Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area for the governorship election in Bauchi State held on March 9. The judge, Inyang Ekwo, made the order based on an ex-parte application filed by the All Progressive Congress (APC) and the incumbent governor of Bauchi State, Mohammed Abubakar. The restraining order is to last till the determination of the suit brought before the court by the two plaintiffs. The APC and Bauchi Governor, Mohammed Abubakar, had prayed for an order of interim injunction restraining INEC from resuming, concluding or announcing the result of Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area of Bauchi State in respect of the governorship election. The election was initially declared inconclusive by INEC due to irregularities in Tafawa Balewa local government. INEC later announced it would go ahead with collating and completing the results sourced from backup result sheets, a move Mr Abubakar, who scored the second highest votes in results so far collated, rejected. The governor wants supplementary polls to be conducted. On Monday, he met with President Muhammad Buhari and vowed to challenge INEC’s volte face in court. In a copy of the letter available to PREMIUM TIMES, the party asked INEC to suspend the supplementary election pending the collation of results. “It is important to note that rerun or supplementary election can only be ripe and determined upon conclusion of collation of all the results from the 20 local government areas in the state and the margin between the winner and runner up is known. “This is the provision of the law as provided in the regulation and guidelines for the conduct of elections, specifically paragraphs 33 (a) and (e) and 34 (e). “By the combined effects of the paragraphs, the commission shall wait to determine the margin of lead between the two leading candidates of the governorship election after collation of the overall results of the election before deciding to embark on the supplementary poll. Hence there is no basis for a supplementary election at the polling units cancelled.” Mr Secondus demanded the “immediate suspension of the supplementary election” until collation of results from Tafawa Balewa has been concluded. |
we all in bauchi we are solely behind Dogara. the only politician in bauchi that retired Two former governors and sitting governor. The only politician that sponsored Lauren Bauchi and won election in bauchi. Up DogRa . |
chai! And Tafawa Balewa is under Dogara constituent and the governor once said "Dogara came from tiny minority and I don't need votes there to win the election, where they only have 80000 votes only, and the last time I won with a margin of over 300000. Believe we will retire Dogara from politics. " it seems from Premium time now reverse is the case. this Dogara is a real politician; He won his ticket and now want to install pdp governor for Bauchi |
