East African here.

No, there isn't. Most of West African language are parts of Niger-Congo super family, while Japanese language belongs to totally distinct super family.

And how can you compare a single language(Japanese) to many hundreds of West African language?

Did you even watch the video? I never said they were in the same family. I just pointed out the similarities. Also Japanese does not belong to a "super family" because it's a language isolate. It's not related to any East Asian language.

Culture / Video Series About Cities Built By Africans Before European Contact. by Kanoro: 12:27am On Nov 14, 2016
Hello guys! If you've seen my other posts before. I'm an American who has a passion for African history. It's largely ignored and most people think that our ancestors have no significance to history other than primitive tribes who lived in straw huts that were sold into slavery. I create many videos to tackle those views and I recently started a video series about cities built by Africans. I just finished part III 2 days ago. Please check out my videos. Comment, like, subscribe etc!

It is only there for click bait. Please comment and tell me what you think and like/subscribe if you enjoy it. Thanks!

Here we go again, Nairaland people's tendency of denouncing blackness and elevating whiteness. What a yawn

Did you read any more than just the title of the OP or even watch the video? With a response like that I'm gonna assume the answer is no.

There is this common misconception that Africa south of the Sahara never developed anything more substantial than hunter-gatherer societies and small farming villages composed of scattered straw huts and tribal cultures. Even as a black American, these misconceptions really hurt me. This video series will tackle those views head on. Don't be mislead by the title or the thumbnail. It's just click bait (and sadly what many people actually believe). Please subscribe if you like! Share it with friends and family and teach our history to our people!

I think Nollywood does nothing but damage the appreciation of African culture and history. They don't care about the quality of their films. The acting and screenplay is always terrible. I could do a better job from my own house and I'm just a regular guy. All they care about is mass producing films for profit. Hollywood on the other hand does a great job with it's films but it completely ignores African history altogether.

Disney for example has been running for 92 years and it encompasses just about every culture aside from Africa:

Native American: Pocahontas
Asian: Mulan
Middleeastern: Aladdin
European: Too many to f*cking name
Africa: Lion King and Tarzan... HOWEVER those 2 movies aren't ABOUT Africa. They simply take place IN Africa with little to no cultural or historical elements of Africa or it's people. I am starting a recurring YouTube series called "From Nothing" which will be a fantasy/thriller stopmotion. I don't expect it to be the next Lord of the Rings or Game of Thrones but I'm hoping I can at least gain some popularity so I can give our history and culture some momentum in the mainstream. My series will be based on historical facts as well as legends and mythology on a mythical continent known as Otiile. Here is my first episode. Feedback and support would be greatly appreciated. Thank you:

There you go! The somewhat lack of detail sort of made the military gear 'less crowded' than it probably was in old Benin. But don't sweat it. Like I said your end product has a certain finesse lacking in the original and I like that.

Oh I thought you were saying the opposite. My bad.
Culture / Re: Full Animation Based On Pre-colonial/medieval Africa Is Here? by Kanoro: 10:12am On Oct 20, 2015
Radoillo:

I wasn't saying you added anything. What I was saying is there is a certain...finesse (?) in your representations which I don't really get from viewing the plaques. Not a criticism. I know you were as faithful to the original as possible.

Well I'm not offended or anything, just confused. Like can you be a bit more specific? I'm not really following you. If anything, I think I'm actually lacking detail and intricacy, like the design on the chest bell for example. And some of the other objects on the armor. I didn't want to risk interpreting them incorrectly.

Roman soldiers? That was a rather good representation of Bini soldiers (as seen from Bini artworks). A bit 'fancified' though.

How were they fancied? I designed them directly from this bronze plaques and added nothing to them other than the helmets and the shields (which I took from other benin plaques)

I'm actually very impressed. Better than I expected, it's really quite interesting. But if I may ask, what's with the roman soldiers and emblem at the beginning.

What emblem are you talking about? And what Roman soldiers? I Have an Ashanti soldier, 2 Benin soldiers, and no emblems.

This is really good, OP.

I get the concept/motivation behind it. And it is great.

Please, don't be discouraged by the slow start. You are way ahead of your time, datz all.

God bless...

Thank you very much for the words of encouragement and yea you're right. I guess I just had higher expectations. I am averaging less than one view per hour even though I've been posting this in so many different places and even promoted it on Facebook.

But you claimed it's fiction when I asked why the intentional errors.

Can you make up your mind?

You can also ask the other fellow why s/he is catching feelings although I just went through his/her posts and it seems natural to him/her.

Because it is fiction. Many games and movies do the same thing. They take real cultural elements and historical events and incorporate them into a fictional setting. Take this for example. Every place on this map is based on a real place:

http://nintendokusou.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/gsmap3.jpg

Also to be honest I somewhat agree with her. You've done nothing but criticize me. You are criticizing my map and doubting that I'm American and you didn't even watch the video before doing either of those things. This post had one goal and one goal only, promoting my video.
