Art, Graphics & Video / Looking For Voice Actors For An Animation! by Kanoro: 9:02am On Sep 09, 2015
I am making an animation based on pre-colonial Africa (strong emphasis on West Africa such as the Yoruba, Akan, and Mande). It will include historic kingdoms, cities, weaponary, mythology, and folklore and it will be done in a very entertaining and suspensful/dramatic way. I am in need of voice actors. I mostly need females (because I can do male voices on my own) but male actors welcome as well. If you are interested in being a part of this, contact me on my facebook community page or via email:
https://www.facebook.com/HuminBehaviorz
huminbehaviorz@gmail.com

I will give you all the info and details you need about the animation. The voice clips can be recorded and sent via email as well. Here is a test video. It has nothing to do with the storyline whatsoever, it is simply a test video just to give you a feel for the style and artwork:

This is a home made stop motion project so I know it's not a masterpiece but this storyline is something that I am very passionate about. It was originally a comic book that I wrote, but now I will be turning it into an animated series.

shocked shocked shocked wow nice! I wish I could do that
Am still honing my drawing skills
And I know nothing about animation
I don't have a Skype account

Hm well good luck. I'm sure I can do this on my own but it would be nice to have a dedicated crew to work with. Especially for voice acting.

Emmmm I have never thought of that
Am still very much a beginner grin wink

Do you have Skype or Facebook or something? I consider myself fairly experienced. Here is an animation I made in high school with my friend. This was 8 years ago. I know the accents may be off though because I'm American. I could really use some authentic accents lol.

Definitely. Most of the culture in this is based on Yoruba, Edo, and Akan. All I really need from voice actors is obviously decent acting but also a good quality microphone.

I am an artist and I have had an idea for close to 10 years now that has been developing and growing as has my creativity and knowledge. I have made a comic to narrate my series but lately it's just become tedious. I plan to make my ideas into an animation or video game in the future. As of right now, I am set on the idea of making an animation and I already have a few sets and characters created. It will be an action, drama, suspense, fantasy theme.

However, doing an animation alone is pretty difficult and I'd like to know if anyone else would be interested in contributing to it. I need voice actors (who can emulate African accents) and I need artists as well as anyone capable of creating music. Even if you aren't interested in helping, feel free to ask questions, comment or subscribe to my channel if you would like to see the series when it unfolds. Here is a test video. It has nothing to do with the storyline at all and I know the quality is far from perfect and that's because it's a low quality camera. For the final animation, I will be filming with a 1080p HD cam.

If you are interested, simply reply to this thread telling me what you would like to do and I will tell you what is needed and I will give you the background story of the first episode.

I notice very few Western Blacks know theirs or even care about it. All we are ever taught in school is that we are of "African" decent and we tend to accept it being totally blind to the fact that "Africa" is the second largest continent with the second highest population and the widest amount of ethnic diversity in the world. We are taught nothing about Africa before the slave trade. I care very much about my history and actually thoroughly researched it. Please watch my videos and tell me your opinions and please support me by subscribing to the channel so that you can see all future videos that I upload. Thank you:

A lot of in depth research. Good job.

P.S. The title is provocative. While it may attract some people, it may put others off as well. I didn't read a previous topic you opened because I didn't know what to make of the title

Fair enough. I honestly made the title provocative to grab attention but I guess it had an opposite effect. Thanks for the kind words though. Please subscribe if you want to see more in the future smiley
Foreign Affairs / Re: Without Colonialism Sub-Saharan Africa Still Be In The Stone Age by Kanoro: 10:55pm On May 02, 2015
Nobody knows where Africa would be without colonialism. It is an interesting and at the same time vain what-if-question.
It would be more useful to focus on the present instead of spreading more and more racist sentiments, from whichever side.

We don't know where it would be but we do know that it wouldn't be the stoneage. Africa was far beyond the stoneage hundreds of years before colonialism even started.

I know some other people will have more information on this subject and this may not be an answer to your question, but Europeans were not the first people to develop guns. I am pretty sure the Chinese were the first to develop gun powder and guns. I think that Arabs were the first to use them in warfare. I think that the Arabs introduced them to the Europeans. I don't know about the casting of iron, but it stands to reason that the Arabs taught the Europeans, because the Arabs taught the Europeans everything including the need to take a bath.

I was already aware of everything you just said. However Europeans had the most advanced guns throughout history and were the first to equip professional armies with them for conquest of far away lands. They spread gunpowder technology to more peolple around the world than anyone else.

Dat d Europeans came 4rm a different part of d world with a different culture does not matter. What matters is d strength of d 2 peoples. D strong will conquer d weak & impose their culture & tradition on them. Hong Kong was colonized by d British. Wud u say dat d current borders of Hong Kong r artificial?

Or r u insinuating dat out present borders wud hv been more legitimate if we were conquered by another African nation instead of d European? D Ibo & Yoruba who live in dsame country hv very different cultures. In fact d Ibo & Yoruba wud refer 2 themselves as coming 4rm 2 different parts of d land. Wud u say a Yoruba occupation of Ibo land wud b more legitimate than an English occupation of Ibo land? Things don't work like dat. It is strength and not proximity dat determines d outcome of war.

Black African's hv a unique biological system dat others races in d world don't hv. We can survive & adapt under hardship. We r physically & mentally strong and can work and remain active even in very difficult, unfriendly and inhumane conditions. It was dis quality d Whiteman capitalized on during d era of slavery. Other races (eg Indians) dat they tried slavery with could not survive it & were dying.

D reason y we r still much in dis continent is because we r survivors & we don't die. Our polygamous culture ensures dat our population is growing @ a geometric rate.

Nigeria is not first nation 2 b conquered/colonized and we r not d last either. Like I said earlier. What it is is what it is. History teaches us dat it is d winner dat makes d decisions & not d loser. Nigeria is Nigeria. Africa is Africa. D past is d past. We r now in d present. Wat we make of d future is on us.

What makes it different is that Hong Kong is merely an island and has a strong literate history and culture closely linked to the giant, ancient country due north of it. Africa is an ENTIRE CONTINENT and it was conquered by a totally different race of man in a very short amount of time. This culture forced their history and way of life on Africans and completely destroyed all of it's historical trade and economical balances that had been forged over the millenia. To expect an entire continent with thousands of ethnic groups crammed in many different artificially made countries speaking languages that are not ANY of their own, learning history of other countries and writing systems of other countries. To expect them to just rise together and make things better is asking alot and something like that will take a very long time to do.

I have never read anything about any of the African groups that made guns using cast iron to do so, though I would be happy to find an example to the contrary. The Ashanti manufactured some of their own guns, but their method did not use cast iron and they could buy better quality guns from Europeans so they kept relying on imports. Benin started manufacturing guns as well, but I have not read anything about Benin utilizing cast iron. I am also unsure as to whether the guns Benin made were the majority of the guns the kingdom had or whether more guns were imported than manufactured. I will look into that eventually and see if I can find an answer.

I also read that Samory Touré's kingdom attempted to manufacture their own guns as well, but once again I've never read anything about cast iron technology in connection with that, and I know that the guns his state used were mostly imports of European origin.

Very interesting. Regardless if they used cast iron or not I'm just trying to figure out what methods Africans used and why they relied so heavily on European imports. The Japanese had more guns than any country in the world within decades of being introduced to European weapons.

No African country is an artificial invention. History shows dat wars hv always been fought & d victors always carve out d territories of d vanquished in a manner pleasing 2 them. There r so many examples in history. D invasion of Europe by d Romans, USA, d Red Indians & Canada, Australia & d Aborigines, d English colonized Scotland, Wales & Northern Ireland etc. Even d borders d white men met when they came were not d original borders. Our folklore teaches us dat various wars hv been fought in d past & territories were either gained or lost.

With yr philosophy, d natives at d time d Whiteman came can also claim dat d borders at dat time were artificial. They could claim dat they were artificially conceived by d victor Kings, Obas, Sultans & Emirs 4 their convenience. Dis kind of thinking doesn't help matters & does not lead 2 progress.

What it is is what it is. White men came & conquered. A new law & order reigned over d people. Nigeria is Nigeria. There is nothing artificial about our borders. All countries hv had their borders carved out one way or d other and Nigeria not different. What we make of ourselves now is wat is important. Things abt artificial borders r an unnecessary distraction.

You are correct in everything that you are saying, however in the case of Africa it's different. Europeans come from a TOTALLY different part of the world with a TOTALLY different culture and way of life. The same can be said for the colonization of the Americas except most of the natives of the Americas were significantly more primitive than Africans and most of them are dead today. Most Africans are alive and well and the entire continent was conquered within 50 years. That is the only time in history that an entire continent (with the exception of Ethiopia and Liberia) that an ENTIRE CONTINENT still predominantly existing of it's natives was conqured. Not to mention Africa has the widest variety of ethnic groups in the world. This inevitably lead to more problems and cultural clashes than something like the English colonization of Scotland.

Is the murder and rape rate of South Africa higher than America's? In America, 11,000 people are killed by gun violence yearly. No one says America has failed when people there walk into a theatre or school and shoot dead innocents. So why is South Africa's situation not treated similarly as a social crisis as opposed to a sign of ''black govt failure''?

Afrikaners are South Africans. Whether they own this or that is immaterial. The government is black-run and and the population is 92% black, making it a black African nation run by blacks, which is successful.

America has almost 10x more people and significantly more densely populated urban centers than South Africa so to compare murder rate by numbers is inaccurate. If you went by total numbers based on % of population then I think that would be a more accurate measurement. You also have to take the efficiency of the police force and the funding and equipment of it into account vs South Africa. The American police force is one of the strongest.

Is this really a question? D question is flawed because it intrinsically assumes dat no African nation has emerged. D proper question wud hv been; which African nation has emerged? And d answer is SOUTH AFRICA.

South Africa is pretty obvious though and it's still relatively poor and underdeveloped compared to other countries of the world. It also has a massive aids and rape problem.
