A few months ago, I lost my job at the bank. I didn’t panic because I still had my American job, but the loss definitely affected my living standards. I had been planning to move into a better apartment, but that dream had to wait. Still, I kept my composure and focused on maintaining myself.

At the time, I couldn’t really look for another job I was in the final stage of my master’s degree, and my thesis demanded every ounce of energy I had. Once I presented it, I finally had a bit of breathing room and started job hunting again.

A month later, I landed a role with a company in Canada. I kept searching, though, because I once told Gerrard59 that I would replace my two jobs with three and I meant it.

On Friday, I received another offer this time from a Chilean bank, even better than the one I used to work for. The salary is higher, the benefits are stronger, and the environment seems far more promising. Oh, and I almost forgot I also got an offer from Deloitte Chile, but it was an on-site position, and I had to turn it down.

All’s well that ends well. The university even invited me to pursue a doctorate, but I declined. Right now, I want to work and build wealth. I spent most of my 20s in Nigeria fighting to survive my 30s are for working with relentless focus to defeat poverty, brutally and completely.

Your parents lived their lives the way they wanted. They have you because they wanted a kid, not because they wanted to have you.

Living in Nigeria does not give one superior knowledge of life and happening in Nigeria. Rather, consuming educated knowledge of happenings in Nigeria does. Even if 200 million Nigeria nsclaim that a thing is so, it will not be enough to counter educated facts collected from polls independently researching all those Nigerians.

The publication aspect reminded me of the Nigerians I knew in the robotics department at my graduate school. The robotics department has a policy where prospective PhD grads have to publish three original papers in high profile journals before graduation. Two declined their PhD scholarships and went off with M.Eng. One accepted it, but two years into the PhD program, he did not have a paper ready for publication. He returned to Nigeria.

How would you want to have PhD and not publish papers?

Isn't that laziness?

Don't they know how important higher education is to the world?

I remember when I was doing the coding for my final year project. My supervisor stressed me so much. Do this do that try this model do this do that. At the end of it all he was like I really like this project and the results we have and I will send it for publishing. I thought he was joking. Apparently he did and this week, news arrived from the organization that the paper was accepted . Like I used this masters just as a means of escaping from Nigeria. I would have never expected to have an IEEE published paper out of it. Life has a way of surprising you.

To be fair though, these churches do organise conferences and fellowships for young men. I have been told of such, but I did not attend. The issue with marriage is that these women are super hypergamous amidst social media trends. The economy has nosedived for a decade and counting. People have lost lives and businesses. These actions affect the average young man's ability to provide. Additionally, there have been cultural changes towards the marriage institution. Some will marry, others won't.

I strongly think that a significant number of young Nigerians would love to marry earlier than usual if the economy were as pre-2015. Then again, some people have to leave Lagos so they can marry, especially if they believe their current income in Lagos cannot maintain their desired standard of living.

The reason you didn't go is the reason most men don't go. It's something singles complain about even in US.

There's a difference between organizing an event for men and catering it towards men.

Most women will enjoy these singles events but most men don't.

It's like inviting large groups of men to come watch drama. They won't go.

Reason why these singles conferences don't work is because they are never catered towards men.
