Just like me, you are a TRADINVESTOR wink grin

However, it must be stated that this only works for stocks with good price yet pays 'peanuts' as dividend...

vacanci:
me this was what i did.

1. instead of N1.8 dividend of access bank, i sold all my holding before qualification date for N23, entered with all the money again at N17. My own dividend compounded directly was N6 (23-17). My total shares increased tremedously

2. UCAP, i sold before qualification at N22.5 to jump the N1.8 dividend. used all the money and entered at N16.8. Dividend compounded was N5.7 (22.5 - 16.8 )

the above was possible because those stocks did not recover immediately as some might do. sometimes this thing na luck. i just took my chance.

e get one wey i don sell all too and waiting at the point of entry, that one done drop 25%, i am waiting for just 5% drop and i am good to go.

I hardly chop dividend directly. i no like that 10% withholding from my proceed.

I go drink beer next year

Hi people. Can one become an NED of a Nigerian publicly listed company by merely buying shares and being the largest shareholder (Just like Otedola Vs FBNH)?

There are several key reforms i believe should take effect in the NGX.
One of them is earning interest on deposits in brokerage accounts.
I believe this is long overdue... wink

Three 'easy' routes:
1. Become a major stakeholder (min 5% of the shares). Non-executive
2. Climb the professional ladder. Executive
3. Know the owner of the company... wink

It's not a 'company' in the real sense.
It's a FUND hosted by a company. The company does not have to be listed on the exchange but the fund is approved and regulated by the SEC.

It listed at 1m today and 450units were traded as seen... wink

yMcy56:
Yes. You're right.
I equally saw it..........but I don't think its possible for the price go be N1m. It could be a mistake from the MM/personnel that included it in the EQTY section...

If you notice, there isn't any data available in the columns till now......this is not typical of a newly listed company.
It could be that the volumes aren't visible because of the price tag attached to it.

It's a good sign when many of them are buying. It's not too relevant if the market prices UBA right immediately what matters is the directors being consistent in growing the wealth of shareholders with increasing EPS and Dividends as the years roll by. UBA looks poised for growth with Tony as Chairman grin.

I'm just hearing this theory (the bolded) for the first time.
Kindly shed more light on it. Who is responsible for the 'drop' in price?

Frangel:
If you sell your UBA on or before 10th of May, you will not qualify to receive dividend. If you sell on 13th or thereafter, you will receive your dividend.

The key date is the Qualification Date (10th May in this instance). You would notice that on 13th, the opening price would be the closing price on 10th less N2.30 (dividend).

The closing price on 10th would be cum-dividend (cum-div) i.e. inclusive of the declared dividend. While the opening price on 13th is ex-dividend (ex-div) i.e. after dividend has been deducted (marked down for dividend).

Actually GTCO has a long and enviable track record while Japaul doesn't.
Likewise, GTCO has a definite and realistic target(s) while Japaul has proposals and projections plus hopeville prayers.

I personally believe that GTCO doesn't look 'attractive' compared to other FUGAZ because the 'key men' don't have strong affiliation with the powers that be... wink

KayOn1:
Juxtapose the GTB effect with Japaul that has also been churning out massive profits too from the back then you will know why " I " want to hear the Japaul l exceptional news first.

Incase you're wondering why OandO is rising like dough with excess yeast, the ENI deal is set to be consumated this quarter according to Mr A. Irune Oando’s Chief Operating Officer... grin

KarlTom:
I'm not a fan of lenghty reports but I will try and summarize.

Let me refer you to page 12 of the Annual Report, you'll find this paragraph:

"OML 56, OML 13 and OML 60-63 are currently the crude oil and
gas producing assets while Oando PLC engages in supply and
trading of crude, refined and unrefined petroleum products.
These entities account for 100% of Group revenue recognized
being N1,994 billion for the year ended 31 December 2022 (2021:
N804.8 billion)."

That's a revenue increase of 148%

Recall that in September, 2023, OandO Energy Resources (OER) bought 100% of ENI's interest in Nigeria Agip Oil Company.
This transaction does several things:
1. It DOUBLES OER stake in OML 60-63 (formerly 20%, now 40%). OML 60-63 are the few OER assets that are currently in PRODUCTION stage.
2. Oando’s total reserves (based on 2021 reserves estimates) stand at 503.3MMboe and the transaction will deliver a 98% increase.
3. It grows Oando’s exploration asset portfolio through the acquisition of a 90% interest in OPL 282 and 48% interest in OPL 135.

I strongly believe that 2023 FY will be better... grin

These rates are way bigger than stamp duty... wink

freeman67:
The loophole will be for only the banks to use in extorting customers. It's only the banks that will benefit from it. Like the stamp duty charge where it was clearly spelt out that customers transfer to own account is exempted and banks kept charging customers without recourse to the exemption.
