Ive good experience in both PHP and MERN Stack and Ive build many projects this year alone mostly in PHP. if you're a Nigerian listen to my advice.... as a web developer, you will be getting independent contacts to build software application for clients. if you get such contracts then use PHP (Laravel). Because its more straightforward and you will only need to write the backend as you will get HTML templates that will save your time building the UI. so its much faster. If you are considering job... then definitely go for MERN stack its the stack with the most opportunities. JS is dominating the world of big companies at this time we are living. but for your small independent projects you can use laravel. PHP is far much more easier to learn. because you only need to learn the basic PHP and laravel framework and HTML templates are ready for you to buy/download. but learning curve of MERN stack is steeper, you have to learn React, Learn NOdejs and Express, Learn MongoDb, Learn Redux, maybe learn Typescript. if your goal is job.. go straight to Nodejs. its steeper but you'll surely get a job soon. if you also wanna build independent projects for clients in Nigeria then go for PHP first and MERN stack later. |
Depends on your use case or the job you want done.but in Nigeria I would say go for php because it's very easy to learn and master. iamblest:This a very bad advice to not use a framework. nobody uses core programming languages. learn the basic of any language but dont waste time to master, go straight to the most preferred framework. React is a framework. Node is framework, Express is a framework. etc. |
lalastica ,SEUN, HONSULE kindly push it to FP |
I greet you all. I'm a developer with some experience in php and Javascript. My goal is to create my own website where I can be selling cheap data to customers. There are already existing companies that does this. They sell sme data at around 230 Naira per 1GB. Mtn use to sell sme data 25GB at 10,000 naira (N400/1GB). So pls my question is where do these guys and also where can I buy such cheap data and share with my customers. Thank you. |
the best phone to buy for 70k is definitely samsung A12. you'd never go back to Techno or any other android brand after using samsung. Samsung A12 has at least 4GB RAM, 62GB Storage and great batter capacity pf 500mAh. second hand cost around 70k. Get it and dont ever buy techno or any other brand. |
Many people giving you bad advice because they're not programmers themselves. I'm self taught programmer and I've made my own full blown software (s). I started in almost the say way as you. The only thing you need to learn programming is burning desire and ability to sit in front of your computer for many many hours everyday. You don't even necessarily need laptop to learn. You can learn 90% from your phone and when you're ready to practice you can borrow laptop. So decide which language you want to learn and then go to YouTube and download tutorials. Use your laptop to download tutorials and then transfer them to your phone. Learn the principles, make notes and watch some tutorials twice. Then after you understand the video... Get your laptop (or borrow one) and start coding to see the code works as it should. As for your laptop.... Your laptop is good enough to program the best web app in the world. All you need is xampp (if you're going into web development) and code Editor. For code Editor, I'll recommend "Visual studio code" and almost all the softwares you'll ever need... Most probably than not they have 32 bit... Older version of Windows can run them. |
Bayero University Kano is following soon. the project has also gone a long way. hoping to see such development from our uni |

Lalasticlala help me move this to FP please. A brother is in real need of help. |
Hello there. I put up my case out here because I know there are a lot of guys who have been in similar situation and others who have had experience in life and would sincerely help me out. I graduated from secondary school 2009, I went on to university here in Nigeria, and after two years I left it for a scholarship abroad. I spent another two years there and then drop out of my scholarship and come back to Nigeria. I spent another two years in Nigerian street doing some sort of business in my hometown. After those years, I went back to School again. Currently I'm studying in one of the prestigious universities and I'm doing well. My CGPA is very great. I feel like I'm getting older and I want to be a man of my own. I manage 7k/month which my uncle and brother contribute and this hardly last me 2-3 weeks and I'm facing a lot of financial problem. I dont have any money to start any business nor anybody to borrow from. And at this point in life, my behavior is the worse enemy that is attacking my success. I lacked focus, whatever I say I am gonna do I hardly do it or finish it. I procrastinate a lot, I have no any vision of the future. I hardly stand by my decisions days after I decided. But deep inside me I know I wanna change because these bad behavior are costing me opportunities. I wanna go out and do things but cant seem to agree with myself on what is the thing to do. I had a lot of fun and money wasn't my problem most of my adult life, but once I left my business to come back to school again, I begin to experience a very hard life. But quitting my school again is not an option. I am looking for a way I can make my life comfortable. By comfortable I mean be able to afford 3 square meal and some basic needs. other facts worth knowing about me are: 1. I have a laptop though very old and inexpensive. 2. I have video editing and other computer creative skills. 3. I have no money to invest in anything. 4. I am willing to help myself. 5. I read at night. I can be free mostly during the day. Pls do help with some suggestion on what you think I should do with my life. Thanks. GodBless you all and may we all shine in life. May our hardships be the key to our successes. |

happy birthday to PMB... a selfless leader, and the only African leader who have never in history touch public funds. continue to grow with health and lead our dear country to greater height. long life PMB... long live Federal Republic of Nigeria |
LionBaba:keep sentiment aside and speak good or hold ur peace. people who think like u are the problem of this country. |
devindevin2000:I've never seen a dullard leading a group of self-acclaimed smart people. only a smart guy ruling a bunch of some sort of illiterate goats. If truly igbos are smart then they should not allow a fulani cow-brained man to rule them. Remember the ND oil was dug out of the North fortune. |
Dahbutter:I'm student in Quantity Survey and I'd love to get your contact because I need advice from you |
my brother this girl has a hidden agenda o. either she's pregnant for her new boyfriend but wants you to hold responsible or she just wanted to get intimate with you by being pregnant for you (which she's wrong). I advice you wait until the child is born and you do a DNA test. bless the child and responsibilities if found to be yours. an innocent child can turn out to be a blessing for you down the road. you can decide whether or not to continue interacting with your ex. |
aygafsam11:It's time for screening already. Have you already collected your admission letter now? |
xykms101:I reason with you bro. godfatherism in Nigeria till when? |
This is an open discussion forum for newly admitted candidates into Bayero University Kano. Post questions, your experience and other info to keep everyone updated on the registration produces etc. |
abuayman:hahahahha..... Naija no dey carry last |
I wish I can really be there. I live too far. but I wish I can get your WhatsApp no. |
bro you can use many softwares to do this. the question is about the skill and not the software. photoshop, illustrator, autodesk sketch pro, sothink logo maker, etc are all programs I know that can do this. |
BabaAlabi:I tire o bro |
EnEnPeecee:is that the only thing you see in the north? pls look at the bright side as well. all societies have good and bad sides. |
Hybrid600:if you can't, others can and they will. where there's a will there's a way. |
willjoe:south holds the remaining 50%. 1 - 1. |
