These past few years, it’s all about who’s on screen fitting some diversity vibe instead of, like, what’s actually dope for the plot. You know what I mean—think about that all-chick Ghostbusters redo or swapping up The Little Mermaid’s race. It’s seriously throwing everything off. Characters end up feeling like these stiff mascots for some cause, not real peeps with killer arcs. You hop on X, and it’s a mess—every new trailer drops, and folks are like, “Ugh, more woke crap!” or “Quit pandering!” Even the stats are screaming it: that 2023 UCLA diversity thing said there’s more diverse leads than ever, but then you’ve got stuff like Velma or Rings of Power tanking ‘cause the story’s just meh. Hollywood’s out here acting like movies are TED Talks, and I’m not shocked people are ghosting when it’s all preachy and zero fun.

Final Thoughts

Breath of Life is, at best, mediocre and, at worst, a boring slog. It took me three months to finish this movie, and by the end, I was left wondering: Why did this win so many awards? If this is the best Nollywood has to offer, what does that say about the films that lost to it? Or the ones that weren’t even nominated?

Nollywood, we have to do better. We can’t keep celebrating mediocrity.

Most original series with new storylines and plots have to follow certain gender and race guidelines in Hollywood before writers even pick a pen.

Some turn out to be great of course mostly because of how talented the writers are but not all writers can write great stories with those restrictions 🤷🏽‍♂️

On that note you guys should check out "negative positive angler" a very solid anime and surprisingly I learnt a lot,I thought fishing was just check the weather,go to a fish abundant location and cast your rod/net and reel it in. I had no idea it consisted days/weeks of planning.

Niche anime are some of the best things you'll discover in this medium. Whether it be fishing, cooking or sewing, it's usually something the author is passionate about and they find a way to weave a story around it. Couldn't make time to watch Negaposi Angler but I heard good things about it and I'm always happy to see someone on the thread enjoy something outside of the mainstream that I didn't get the opportunity to watch.

Same Zaheer that Tenzin almost wiped the floor with cos he actually uses his brains during battles.
