Don't Look Up (2021) 8/10

A satirical take on our current climate, Don't Look Up delves into a society facing an apocalyptic event.
Netflix invested a shitload of money into assembling a high profile team of actors and that investment really paid off. From Dicaprio and Meryl all the way down to Chalamet, they delivered a really good performance. One advantage of acting in a satire is the relative freedom to have fun with the character you're playing and the cast did look like they had a good time bringing these characters to life.
The story feels eerily close to home and in tune with modern and social media culture with its takes on trends and social interests, as well as, political response and the resulting effects of political alignments.
It's a movie that leaves you with lessons and lasting moments of reflections even as it shakes your ribcage with laughter.

Nickshrapnel:
What movie is this?

Sounds more like the beginning of BvS than the end of MoS

The Wheel of Time S1 7/10

It's a decent first season. I'm only halfway through the first book and even I can tell that they changed a lot from the books, and not for the better. It's a pretty bad adaptation but an alright show so far. At least, they've still got me interested enough in seeing where their version of the story goes.

Chibudollar:
Omo so far I no really dey enjoy this Don't look up o, maybe the ending would be better sha. Lemme Continue

Delete. It's a satirical comedy-drama so if you're not feeling the humor, it's going to be a very long 2 hours.

Gmajor:
When it comes to bad movies, some of them are hilariously bad. Matrix Resurrection on the other hand, is ridiculously bad.

It has no single redeeming quality.

Every change that was made was for the worst and All the new concepts that were introduced was terrible.

The story was goofy.

The dialogue was atrocious.

The characters are one dimensional and unmemorable.

The cinematography was bad. The movie had a lot of shaky Cam which weren't present in the original movies. Also, I hated a lot of the effects that were used especially the one they used when Neo took the pill.

The action that the Matrix franchise was renowned for is also extremely lackluster. The hand to hand combat is uninspired and looks weightless and The gun fights are just there.
There was a fight that took place in a train and the whole setting was just crowded and confusing.

Keanu has never really been a good actor IMO.
He has a stilted way that acting that can work for movies like John Wick but not for a movie that needs to show acting range. In this movie, he look incredibly bored and his acting ranged from mediocre to bad.

So why does Agent Smith still exist? Didn't Neo destroy him in the last movie? If the analyst brought him back, why did he do so? He isn't on the analyst side and he offers no advantage to the Matrix so why is he back?

Speaking of the Analyst, he is easily one of the worst villains to be portrayed in a movie. He is not charismatic and to make matters worse, he isn't even threatening or menacing. He just looks annoying.

Also what purpose does Neo serve in this movie? Why were the rebels looking for him? He had already ended the war with the machines and the peace he brokered still exists, so why is he here? Were the rebels looking for him because they needed a hero to worship? He isn't fighting for humanities freedom or fate so why is he even here?

Morpheus also serves no purpose in this movie. I don't even understand why or how he exists in this movie.

The new twist they added which is that Neo and Trinity are very powerful when they're together is dumb. They've been together for the whole of the last trilogy and we didn't see any of this special power.
At the end, it is revealed that trinity also has the powers of the ONE? And this makes no sense whatsoever.

This movie takes the concept of meta to a ridiculous new hight.
The cut to previous movies was cringe and they nostalgia bait that the movie was going for fell flat in All ways.

1.5/10 I didn't see this movie in a cinema, but I want a refund.

**ignore the many typos**

It's been a while I've seen some objective criticism on this thread rather than just bashing and wailing. It's a refreshing sight. As much as I wanted to disagree with you while watching the movie, by the time I was done, I had to agree with most of your points. Any disagreements I have are just unnecessary nitpicks at best.

Chibudollar:
i swear man I have said it here before, the only reason I watch most of this marvel DC stuffs is just not to get lost in most of the conversations, just like this new spider man movie I haven't even bothered myself one bit about going to see it

You sound like you've got a lot of free time on your hands

Willem Dafoe coming back after 20 years to solidify his Goblin as THE Spiderman villain is one of the most beautiful things I've seen this year.

abduleez1:
Make sure you give us feedback.

It was absolutely spectacular.

MJBOLT:

...

Nah! That was a PG version

phr0nesis:
Michael Giachino. That guy will soon rival Hans Zimmer

Definitely. He has a pretty stacked discography already. And he's composing for The Batman so that's extra fuel to my hype train

No Way Home has my most touching death scene in the MCU.

And who be this composer that flexeth upon my eardrums with this amazing OST?

Calibrator:
Did you watch the animation on mute?

Let the wailer cry hot tears in peace

Abduleez, made it today. Make we watch this Spidey Christmas reunion

Master-fücking-piece

ValeeLove:
lol. Sami Zayn. I remember watching him on NXT. When will he finally get his moment?

Only God knows

ValeeLove:
but would you allow someone have an award in his name where all the awards go to himself?

Why not? He deserves all the awards

pu7pl3:
You're right, Charlotte doesn't have good matches unless it's with another horse woman, Toni wasn't built up well and I've been bemoaning this since their feud started....it is what it is bro

Make she go on another break or join her boyfriend in AEW abeg make other women shine

ValeeLove:
no Sami awards this year? Lol.

The conspiracy is too strong

ValeeLove:
i would, if his gimmick had something to do with pipes...

Merry Christmas to weebs, otakus, enthusiasts and normies alike.

WWE SMACKDOWN REVIEWS RECAPS AND REACTIONS

Charlotte Flair defeated Toni Storm is retain the SmackDown women’s championship in a match I was kind of baffled by. This entire feud has felt like a way to put Flair over at the expense of Storm, who was never presented like a legitimate threat at any point over the past few weeks and was run into the ground in this very match. Flair is a heel, that comes with the territory, but she seemed to really drive home the message that Toni didn’t belong in the same ring as her. The match result only serves to reinforce that message. After the match, WWE tweeted “keep fighting, Toni” with a GIF of her anguish. Perhaps that will become a story they tell with her, and if so, bravo. If not, that sucks for her.

I know Charlotte is a great superstar but her booking has gotten really annoying. If there was someone who could have had a fantastic and balanced match with Charlotte, it's Toni. Watching her act like she was fighting 2 Nia Jaxes while being half her size was frustrating.

Sami Zayn won a Gauntlet match to become the top contender to the Intercontinental championship. It was an entertaining enough 12-man Gauntlet that got a lot of run time and featured a few different stories playing out. Ricochet made clear he belongs on TV on a weekly basis, Sheamus and Cesaro are still doing their thing, poor Drew Gulak is never going to get his due on the main roster in WWE, and Zayn vs. Shinsuke Nakamura will finally get their long awaited rematch from their epic battle in NXT back in 2016.

What they're doing with Gulak is criminal at this point. I suspect he'll be released soon.

ValeeLove:
Its who you think it is.

I would've never rooted for a performer named Leakee

pu7pl3:
Merry Christmas to you all and a prosperous new year

Now moving on to The Wheel of Time finale later today.
