Maybe this is due to the live-action show pushing more ATLA conversation or it could just be the algorithm pushing more Avatar content to my feed after that Aang/Korra argument but my Twitter feed has been packed with Avatar content for weeks now and the thing just dey sweet me die. Especially the commentary from Black Americans.

SOZINN: I swear, the animated series is so good. We know that the fire nation soldiers were powered up by the comet, but they weren’t just going to kill a bunch of airbending masters in one go. If you take a look at monk gyatso’s clothing, it’s pretty clear that he only took one hit, even though he had to deal with more than 4 firebenders at a time. I think he must have sucked all the air out of their lungs or pulled off some other sick shit to make them useless, you know, something an airbending master could do. The popular theory is that Gyatso bended all the air out of the room. No oxygen, so the fire benders can't create fire. Then everybody suffocates. |

blingxx: Nagh.. Japanese don't do magic, their logic is succeed or die like a samurai, a very hard way of life They do fortune-telling and divination, though. And they also have myths and fantasy literature. But yeah, Shogun doesn't fall under those genre. |

SOZINN: Remembering how monk Gyatso went down in the animated series. OG. Man said, "None of us leaving this room alive". This scene waiting for us to grow up and to understand it is part of what makes ATLA an ageless beauty to watch. |

Cypherhendrix: Same trend said the writers are running out of plots, they just going in the cycle This and that I wish there was a sort of a search engine to look at people’s comments So no be critics train again, now na people's comments. From where to where? |

SOZINN: You noticed that Thunderbolts was moved from July because this battle is not for the weak. Yeah! Good call. But the marketing for F4 will have to be top notch, seeing as Legacy's hype train already has a bit of head start |

SOZINN: What series are you talking about? The one that has 94% rating on RT and 7.7 on IMDB? Guy! People will be like "This movie/show is so underrated" and then you'll be seeing 8/10 ratings minimum with positive reviews everywhere and you go just dey wonder which internet they're using |
TV/Movies › Re: What Series Are You Watching Now? Part 2 by Kaycee7(m): 7:02pm On Feb 24, 2024 |
Cypherhendrix: This same trend rubbished FROM series If you no wise you would just jump in on the critic train without even having to see it yourself I know they might be some disappointment by huge fans even me i miss sarcastic sokka but i cant beat myself up for that instead i enjoyed the show as a neutral. Even the cartoon season 1 was a pain to watch geezyk: If to say I dey listen to the critic train, na so I for miss FROM oo. Abeg which critics train for make una miss FROM?

TV/Movies › Re: What Series Are You Watching Now? Part 2 by Kaycee7(m): 12:50pm On Feb 24, 2024 |
geezyk: You see reasons why people tend to disagree with stuffs, and you wonder if they all sat in the same room to discuss it. But then, you read a major critic review and see where everyone got their opinions from. The bandwagon effect. If a movie, for example, has bad CGI or poor acting, and everybody points that out, is this also bandwagon effect? |
TV/Movies › Re: What Series Are You Watching Now? Part 2 by Kaycee7(m): 12:35pm On Feb 24, 2024 |
geezyk: It suddenly feels like we're in a simulation. Tell me why everyone keeps badmouthing ATLA, cos senior olodo critics did same. Do people not have a mind of their own to form an opinion anymore? I find it very funny when people say stuff like the bold part because they're in disagreement with the majority. Do you somehow expect everyone with a mind of their own to form the same opinion as you? 😂🤣 Lack of self-awareness will always be hilarious to see |

Cypherhendrix: I know people would have negative things to say bout ATLAB Truth is that, this is a movie it wouldnt fully adapt to the cartoon, cause the cartoon was all funny and nice but the film shows some dark sides we might not have gotten as a kid then. 1) zuko relationship with his uncle from the death of iroh’s son, it showed how humanly zuko was till ozai burn his face. 2) it showed how azula was also a victim of her father’s psychological abuse and how he demanded too much. 3) showed the Air temple genocide
Can the show improve? Yes sure Is it a bad show? No it far from it
To be fair most critics are from the OG fan trying to replicate their younger self emotions. The cartoon depicts 1 & 2 very well. Hell, Azula literally descends into a mental breakdown in the events leading up to and at The Last Agni Kai. The cartoon was all funny and nice? One of Sokka's love interests dies in the first season. What show were you watching? |

oyaskii: "The Office US" S3-S5 (2006-2009).
Like a warm hug on a rainy day
I might be having too much fun with this, still kicking myself for starting it so late but it was good i allowed it to marinate properly. Genuinely heartwarming and funny "the right way", a tender breakaway from serious watches and all the tensions this country piles on each day.
On and on to the next season, as i sojourn on to the finish line 😊
9/10. And now you've got me interested in The Office. Putting it on the already very stacked list. Might probably start it when I need a break from Modern Family which I'm watching very leisurely. |

abduleez1: Lol, dey play. It's majorly because their TV shows are geared towards a broader audience and families that's why it's gotta be toned down. Nudity is very visible in many of their movies.
Thirst, The Handmaiden, Oldboy, Obsessed, The Concubine etc has copious nudity.
I noticed Asians are not so restrictive in nudity or look at it as some sort of taboo like Westerners. Japanese are very vocal about their nudity as well as Koreans. Early Chinese (Hong Kong) movies had some level of explicit nudity too. Except on Indian cinema which I see as the oddball amongst them in east Asia. Memories of Naked Weapon from back in the day. Las las nobody was fully naked but I received sermon for that movie. 😂😂 When Aishwarya Rai and Hrithik Roshan locked lips in Dhoom 2, everywhere scatter. Fans dey para, dey send her legal notice. |
