We need Wilshere back asap. Our team is set up in such a way that we need a midfield maestro to spray those beautiful on point passes to our attackers.Right now,Wilshere is the only canditate that looks anything close to that specification.Arteta is good, but he will be better playing alongside a Wilshere rather than a Ramsey.

I am surprised too that Wenger made Arteta played deeper(Ramsey is better suited to that role) and not directly behind RVP.

It may be too early to judge Per,as even Schillaci played beautifully in the early part of last season against Sunderland alongside Kos,who i believe played extremely well today. My prayer though,Verminator have to come back earlier than postulated. He and Kos should be our first CBs.

Thank God Song and Gervinho will be back at Ewood Park.

Oh and it's our first game this season in the EPL without a red card.

These 2 Manchester teams sha dey do who go outscore each other.Oh well.

Over-rated institution. The world would be a better place if our lives, relationship wise,is like other animals i.e i see you,i enjoy you, leave afterwards without any emotional attachment.

With the percentage of crashed marriage, cheating couples and those who are in it to save face,i can't but think, maybe humans are not just configured to dabble into marriage.

I think Citeh would do well and draw favouring they might make quarters. No team wants to meet Citeh cos they have probably a top 4 squad in the whole of Europe.

Football has changed now, the new form of defence is closing down space. thats why Barcelona dominates possesion, They harry you like Rottweillers. Thats why they can play a game without a natural defender and still win
City's got the squad but i am not sure they have the right coach.Plus i do not think Mancini has the cojones to manage those egos they have.I would have expected they cop a more solid CB to play alongside Kompany since they have the cash.I think Mancini is a care-taker till the wheel falls of for Jose at Real/gets too big for his shoes.

It will take time for Cesc to get it out of his system he's out of AFC.The way he throws the 'we'' around these days points to that.Didn't he say "we" were jittery after Udinese scored but 'we' kept our nerves and eventually qualified? undecided

Why did we leave these flurries of activities till this late though?Oh well, better late than never. cool
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Manchester United Fan Thread: Premier League Champions 2010/11 by kaypumpin2(m): 11:30pm On Aug 31, 2011
Fergie's new signing is not Cleverly,it is the new way your players press for the ball and close up the space without the ball. The harrying and tempo is blistering.Whether it can be maintained throughout the season is another issue entirely.

What killed Arsenal on Sunday wasn't inexperience alone,it is the way Man U had 3-4 players pressing the ball and closing the space.Add to that the blistering space of Young and Nani and Man U's place in EPL is 'almost' unshaken.

City though, until they hire a Hiddink/Jose may be resigned to playing second fiddle.I may be proved wrong.

I do not see any EPL team making much "noise'' in the UCL imho.

except that it doesn't.
arsenal had 3 men in their midfield. logic suggests arsenal should dominate that area of the pitch. they always do when united go with 2 in the middle.
but i saw the worst arsenal performance at old trafford in nearly 100 years. look at ramsey's passing statistic.

51/63? it is piss-poor for a passing team like arsenal.
Arsenal's poigant display in all area of midfield is not even up for debate, neither is Ramsey's below par performance.

That statistic though,it papers over yesterday's horror show.

tom----versus----aaron

67---total passes--63
3-----tackles won---2
61--accurate passes--51

3---scoring attempts--2
1---shots on target---0
90--minutes played---90

did you just say aaron made tomahawk look silly?
you must be smoking woolies.
But for a team that was at the receiving end of blistering endless attacks yesterday, these statistics fairly support Ritch's assertions.

That said,Ramsey's ability to lose the ball under the least pressure is ridiculous. And wigga plays like he isn't aware of his immediate environment.

And oh Frimpong is just as reckless as he is on the pitch with his tweets.Hardly has the news on Nasri's deal hit the net that the little geezer tweeted:

Money is the root of all evil
Only he doesn't know money isn't,but the love if it.And i dare say,the lack of it. grin

My eyes hurt. . . . epistle upon epistle.

Long story short,if we fail to qualify for UCL,this may be a long and tortuous season.

If the logic of waiting till after qualification before we can sign "super quality" players is true, does that mean we may have to do with "dregs" if we fail to qualify? Here in lies my dilemma,if the worst happens and we fail to qualify and thus unable to make this "super quality: signings,do we have enough in our armoury to bounce back and get the last UCL qualification spot?Bearing in mind that even when we had the core of the team, all we could afford was the 4th position  undecided

I fear for tommorow night really,as i do not know where the creativity is going to come from.I will like to see RVP dropped into that hole while Gervinho or Walcott is played upfront.

I just pray Wilshere is fit for the game against Udinese or Nasri is played. All this we will lose 25 million gbp talk is tosh as losing out on a UCL spot has far more implicating consequences.

Yet again another misquote. AW never said we can't bring in quality. What he has often said is that it is difficult to compete for quality in a distorted market. As a matter of fact he actually says he's looking to bring in quality, but that is a whole different matter for analysis.
Plus he's always said,"we are looking for qualities that are better than what we have".That statement though, there is something shocking about it.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fans Thread (for Arsenal Fans) by kaypumpin2(m): 7:31pm On Aug 21, 2011
Why are we fixated on what the fans wish their club though?I've(and most gooners i am sure) wished Arsenal win the league since '05 but it's never happened.

Bottomline:Fans wishes is not directly proportional to clubs' success or otherwise. grin

On a serious note though,we are the only club in the top tier to have broken the core of our team from last season. It is early in the season, but our performances in the last 2 games viz the teams we are competing with is worrying.

I worry also for what will be the performances of the EPL teams in the UCL,but then, maybe i worry too much.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fans Thread (for Arsenal Fans) by kaypumpin2(m): 3:52pm On Aug 20, 2011
But this is expected. You only need to see our Cesc-less performance from end of last season and pre-season to know how rudderless we get without creativity from the middle of the pack. While Song and Wilshere tend to make it less obvious and gruesome,it gets appaling when the two are not on the field.

That said,i can't even fault the effort of the guys on the pitch today, especially the young 'uns. The ones we counted on to make things happen were rather the dissapointing ones, especially Arshavin and Ramsey.I hope Vermaleeen and RVP wouldn't look around and feel the need to bail out too, never mind the injury-plagued excuse.

I do not know how we will cope when we play against Udinese with either of Djorou and Schillace playing CB,infact i will rather play Miguel as he can not be worse than those two as shown by his decent perform today.

@Ibime Enrique was made to look good because Walcott was dire today. He was exceptional.

shocked shocked as per Abagworo's comments on Emimen.Hip-hop harakiri. There's no way a man that's released Slimshady LP,MM LP,Eminem show and Recovery does not deserve his place in the top echelon of hip hop hall of fame.

There's no basis for comparison between the releases though. One is an album and the other is an EP.Let's even pretend BME is an album,it still doesn't measure upto WTT musically. The range of subjects in WTT floors it too.Lyrically though,BME is a blueprint for hip-hop collabo.Em and Royce brought back Red-Meth(Big Pun/Fat Joe) symbiosis in the way they fed off each other.

anybody thinking the game

We are paper thin in all departments of the field now except GK.

Gibbs' done is hamstring and Djorou is out too.We are just one injury/suspension away from Squillaci cry And even could see Vermaleen is our best CB and there is no justitification to drag him to the LB.With Gibbs' constant romance with the physios, unfortunately, this is inevitable.

Gervinhno is good at running at the opponents' defence, this i have always known, but wtf happened to this nucca's final ball?I have seen him hit it well with Lille and Ivory Coast so i am a little at sea over his questionable final ball in the last 2 matches.I hope he improves though as these are early.

Chamakh didn't get those crosses but erm, dude's hold up play which seem to be his forte isn't even upto scratch again.Loss of confidence and form?Abeg make Bendtner never go o.

It will be difficult in Italy and i hope we have Wilshere back by the time we go there.

Next is Daglish's army,i don't even know what team will turn up but seriously,it's high time Wenger spent some of that cash.

Foook him,if his home club na Albancente, will he literarily go on strike to get a return?Or was he in a trance when he signed that long contract?

And what the fooook is that Nasri saying on twitter that he's been disrespected by Arsenal fans and he still being an Arsenal player.

Omo hi be like say all these foreigners should be kept at tripple-arms length away from this club o.

Abeg onto things Arsenal,no Persie tomorrow and Chamakh doesn't look like someone who can tap in a goal from an inch away from the goal line. . . oh well.

If reports are true,Vela is being prepped for another loan so we are left with Chamakh and RVP as our strikers?Maybe it's high time we blocked Bendtner's departure then undecided

Tomorrow's match has to be one of the biggest in the history of the club,we get knocked out and we can as well just say Wenger is back to point zero.

We are the Arsenal still. cool

29million pounds? Is somebody havin a fookin laff? Like what the forkery fork!!!

I'm waiting for Arsenal to release a figure. What da hell?!
Don't hold your breathe hombre, when has Arsenal ever release an official figure for a transfer? The closest pointer is to keep an eye on the half of the year financial report. If Rosell is to be believed though, the figure is 29 million euros(5+5 in variables),not pounds.

debosky:
It's 14.5m Euros in two payments, 1m Euros each year for 5 years and 6m Euros in performance based payments.

29+5+6 = 40m Euros

Whether or not it was a good financial deal is less important now - I suspect the board must have said do a deal and get rid of him before it gets any messier.

All I can say frankly is good riddance - acting all innocent when you're doing harm to the Arsenal is unacceptable to me.
Finally the irritating saga ends and we can move on. Time for Arsene to identify replacements and swiftly bring them in.
Hear,hear.

Debo my grudge is,why wait till now before the deal is done.We held up till late into the transfer window to gain what exactly? It's not like fee they came up with initially was doubled or something. It is cringing and it's like we've been shafted in this deal.

Cesc,i hope you do your meta tarsal in while doing a 3-some with Shakira and Pique. grin

I hope the Song's incident wouldn't be reviewed a la Bowyer on Sagna as that will mean no Song for Liverpool,Man U and Swansea.

That said,i must it was a disciplined performance defensively.Offensively, the creativity was not just there.Gervihno, yes a bright spark but his final ball was awful, especially in the 2nd half.Gibbs was also extremely impressive defensively and offensively.Kos and Vermaleen were solid and dealt with all aerial ball brilliantly too.

I hope we sign that creative force we need in the middle of that pack. Will this team cut it against Udinese?Fingers crossed.
