Some people won't like this if it is true. Reports say Miquel might start today so Arsene can rest Djorou who is still being gradually brought back, I hope that doesn't mean Djorou has suffered a setback too. shocked shocked
Good news. tongue I hope a goal is scored every 6.4285714285714285714285714285714 minute of the match by both teams so the game can end 7-7.That way Wenger will see the need for a new CB. tongue Oh damn it,our gaffer could see the cup half full and insist" ze attack was sharp and have the right mentality." shocked grin

Kay, wetin yu want Cesc and Wilshere to say? say dem dey fight? grin grin
to resolve this fully, I think Denny needs to come out and explain what he was trying to say, why can't Denilson himself encourage the others when the going gets tough? undecided
Why can't he be a leader if he notices a dearth of leadership?
We've had leadership where Gallas was shouting at everyone and we all saw where that went didn't we? Now we have a cool leader who leads by example and someone is still complainin. what arrant nonsense, the thing vex me no be small.
I expected Cesc to say yeah he's right but Denilson is shitty and yet to earn the right to castigate me,or even anyone at that. grin

That said, the interview was conducted in  Portuguese and the translator(a Brazilian) has claimed those were Denilson exact words. He went on to claim Denny's agent has called that the interview be yanked off the net.It must surely be causing a furore if his claim about the agent is true.

Suffice to ask though, what is the difference between what Denilson said and what Wenger said after the Wigan game about the team lacking a "a voice that commands and lead".Gallas said it albeit in a more damaging manner,Cesc used the word impotecia and AFC in one sentence and now Denny, something definately must be "wrong".The part about Almunia been the best keeper in Arsenal got me stitches though.

Make dem free the issue sha, make them face tonight's match.I am a little bothered about Shea's presence on the bench as a sub for Schezny.Whatever happened to Denny's best man. huh

duduspace:
Oh, the chronological order of things is reversed.  grin grin that actually makes things worse and might actually explain why Cesc bucked his usual quiet leadership style to make the dig at Denny's professionalism is there any possibility of him having gotten snippets of that interview somehow?
Whichever way it is Kay, I know whose side I'm on here cos I know who has exhibited leadership ability between the two players and Arsene needs to do something about this and not just back slapping photos. This was how Gallas' and Toure's wahala started and you know how that went.
Hehehehehe, you are already taking side when Cesc already tagged it misunderstanding and Wilshere posited that the team spirit is too strong to be broken by this kind of report.

Whatever jare. . . .Denilson only re-echoed what everyone knows, even Wenger confirmed it some few weeks back.

"Nobody looks from the outside to take really charge of the organisation side. There’s no voice when the organisation drops a little bit, you don’t feel that anybody takes charge on alertness. We need to communicate much better than that. The way we conceded this corner is, of course, very disappointing"

Seriously! But I think itz his way of getting back at Fab for the comment on the penalty he conceeded. Not tactful
duduspace:
I did think at the time that Cesc shouldn't have passed such comments about a team mate no matter how right it was.
There's no way his comments could be an aftermath effect of Cesc's reaction to the penalty conceeded. The interview was allegedly conducted before the match on the 5th of January.

Now, last night I published an interview with Denilson, carried out by my pals at Arsenal Brasil on January 5th (before the Leeds game).-

@Kay
did u say Squillaci is uber-useless ? u kidding right ? shocked that guy adds a lot of stability to our defence when he plays, he does his part when he is called upon and he is never a guaranteed red card-in-waiting unlike Koscielny cool
Dude exudes no confidence and for all the noise about experience as per him,he should be performing better.I say it again,he hides in games and clears half-heartedly.That's no hallmark of an average defender sef.

He will buy I think, but I won't expect any big name or big money signing, this is a stop gap at the end of the day. His two big signings for the CB role are Vermaelen and Koscielny, if not for Vermaelen's injury we wouldn't really need to buy. I however don't want to see Big Sol again, A Squillaci class signing (same age range and ability wise but with a little more strength and agidi) would do just fine.
We need to save that money to bring in Hazard in the summer. tongue
The only time you should use WILL in the same sentence with Wenger is when you are saying,he WILL not buy. That way you can be sure of being 99.9% correct while sparing yourself of any form of disappointment.I could have bet my left nut he will buy an attacker last season when it was obvious it was the last puzzle in the jigsaw to help us with the push for the title, but our boards/manager's financial jiggery-pokery took the worse part of what could have been a great opportunity.

Who is to say with Schillaci been "just" 2-3 weeks away from return,he wouldn't be tagged a LANS grin or with Diaby's return,Song wouldn't be pushed back to CB while the former fill the void left by the later. huh

Ibime:
Anyone spending above £12m for Cahill is having a laugh - that's why Wenger would tell you that Bolton don't want to sell, cos really with a price like £20m, they really don't want to sell.

If you gonna spend anything close to £15m on an English defender, go for Shawcross, the poor man's Vidic.

Cahill is too namby pamby. He reminds me of Dawson.

How about Mahmadou Sakho who now definitely looks like he is leaving PSG. Only problem is he's left footed like Vermaelen.
Those English lads are over-priced and anyone pushing for the purchase of Cahill and expecting us to pay through our nose for him is just being smart by half. What has become of Lescott since his big money move to Man City?I will even prefer Jagielka(never mind his recent affinity for OGs) but then he's English.Get me Ciani,Subotic or Hummel or make we go to the Balkans go look for someone like Vidic or Ivanovic who can play both RB and CB.And if we insist on EPL experience well,my good friend Samba is there. grin

Ibime:
On a side note, can someone tell that k-legged, homosexual hairstyled Djorou to please keep on his feet? I am tired of watching Bambi on ice.
And really, if Djorou is your best defender, Kos should be taken round the back and shot. I can't believe I'm seeing a 5ft 10, 60kg centre-back in the Prem. On certain occassions, I can't differentiate between Koscielny and Nasri because their body frame is exactly the same! Son is a disaster!!!
Kos is not the rugged type but i am sure he will "grow into" the league. He's got age on his side plus he has enough in his ammo to be a good defender.

debosky:
Squillaci is not good enough IMO - he might be ripe for letting go in the summer so we should buy someone now who can use the rest of the season to bed in properly and be a quality 4th CB next season. As for Koscielny, he's not good enough to be first choice CB just yet. None of the buys have shown that, and JD is still quite injury prone and can be a good third choice.

We don't need to save money for Hazard, deal with your CURRENT issues and you'll have more attractive/bargaining power in the summer.

That silly type of thinking likely cost us a decent shot at the title last year - instead of going all out to sign Chamakh, we waited till the summer and we all know how our striking issues cost us.
You can only be good enough if you are good at all,Schillaci is uber-useless and should be shown the exit.He hides away in games and when he decides to show,he comes up with bad and half hearted clearance.

Now on to the issue of CBs

Dunno if anyone watched the Chelski game y'day, but Samba made such an atrocious mistake that almost cost a goal initially, then led to the corner for one of Chelsk'is goals.

If Koko or Clichy makes that type of error there will be 10 pages of epistles on nairaland. grin Y'all should look before leaping when it comes to Samba. . . .he might have EPL experience and all that, but he has is good share of gaffes.

That aside, threatening to quit your club is not a good omen - the last defender we had do that was Gallas and his performances were mixed at best.

I'd personally go for Cahill. . . . the boy is intelligent, reasonably good on the ball and English too. Yes I said English. . . .there is still an aspect of the game that is 'purely' English, especially in defence. In addition to that, there's no better way to further reduce the French parapoism by bringing in another Englishman.

Alternatively I'd go for Jagielka who AW has actually shown interest in previously - if it means sending one or two young players his way to sweeten the deal, so be it.

But who am I kidding? With Baba Ijebu at the helm we probably have a higher chance of signing O'Shea from Utd than getting Cahill. grin
Rio Ferdinand "lost" his man(Crouch) against the Spuds today that almost resulted in a goal, does that in any way reduce his stock as a great defender huh

There is no defender, however good that WILL not make a "silly" mistake every now and then so that argument doesn't fly with me at all. That said, what we are looking for is a cover till Vermaleen is back,do you really think baba Ijebu will pay out of his nose for any of these over-priced English dudes?

OK now it's obvious we have no reason dilly dalling over the purchase of a CB.Ans i also support Samba's purchase.EPL experience and no nonsense.Plus he is French. grin

proudly9ja:
I know say debo no go gree. Why compare Eboue and Clichy when everyone has agreed that Eboue seems to be going downhill quality wise?
You dey mind Debo, how he's still arguing against something as obvious as THIS is ludicrous.I can't remember a recent match in which Arshavin swapped and changed role to the RWF and the immediate impact was felt by Sagna which culminated in him making unnecesary mistakes.

proudly9ja:
There's this thing Alex Song does that I don't like. I don't know if anyone else has noticed but Song sometimes holds on to the ball even when he is under pressure and more when there is a free player to pass to. Its quite annoying. We almost got punished yesterday in one of those 'silly' moves.
He's done it countless times this season and we almost paid dearly for it yesterday. He definately needs talking to.Suffice to state his form has improved beautifully in recent matches though.

proudly9ja:
I think Samba's good too but maybe cos of his stature, I have a bias against him. He looks like someone who'l be clumsy. cheesy
AW has said he is looking for someone with Premiership experience. Il add 'cheap' or free to the list.
Any cover will do right now abeg.We all know Djorou is an "injury" waiting to happen and Kos loves red card more than he loves training. grin

Nice comfortable win, shows this first eleven are the capable ones amongst the lot.

Say what you have to say about Fabianski though,i noticed he has a great distribution and best calming,"time wasting" antics within our rank.I kept on yelling that Scheny should at least hold on to the ball longer when it was obvious our usual loss of focus was setting in.

Also great to see the back of Eboue.Dude is such a joke and i think it is high time we started thinking of bringing in another back up RB.

Nasri,RVP and Cesc get this team ticking so i hope they can stay injury free.

Next stop is Elland road.

Until we cop the next goal,i am still not comfortable, having in mind what happened @ Upton Park last season.I pray Scheny doesn't do a Mannone.

How come Eboue and Djorou are playing like pregnant Koalas? huh

That was a difficult ball over the top, from deep, besides he kept up with Priskin and didn't allow him get a shot quickly, and it wasn't costly. On the day, he was one of our better players, if they had kept the clean sheet I wld have been thanking him for largely keeping Priskin quiet. Personally, I have no one to blame in the defence today.

Yes Arshavin had a stinker - players go through bad patches. This same Arshavin nearly destroyed Wigan singlehandedly so he hasn’t become shyte overnight.
Maybe you are referring to another match.Yes,he scored against Wigan and assisted for the second goal, but he fluffed what could even have been the winner in that same match and was average for most part of the game. The ONLY EPL match Arshavin have been up for it this season was against Aston Villa at Villa Park.

That said,i do believe he will still come good. He's too brilliant a player to become shitty over night.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only (R.I.P Bawomolo). by kaypumpin2(m): 11:21pm On Jan 05, 2011
We could have substituted Fabianski for Chamakh and it wouldn't have changed a damn thing. It was as terrible as City not even interested in exploiting our "set-piece" loop-hole when they had the chance to.But our misses in the early part of the game was our un-doing as a goal could have opened up the game.

Silly card by Sagna but he needs the rest too as he,Kos and Wilshere had to be the only players who were heavily involved in the games over the holidays.

Next up is Leeds and next round qualification is a MUST.
