How do you feel when others around you get married?

Are you excited for them, jealous?

Think about it. It tells a lot about you.

It's usually a mixed feeling. I kind of envy the couple and at the same time wish them well.

Welcome back sis deols.
Looking back to what transpired on your previous thread, I can say that a lot of my notions and opinions about marriage and family was shaped back then.
The marriage issue is a delicate one, and the pressure believe me is not on the sisters alone. Brothers too are under pressure to "stop wasting time ".

babyosisi:

I am not a cancer specialist but the simplest way to describe this is this.

The human body is made up of cells .these cells continually undergo a cycle where they divide and then they die and new cells are formed.
That is normal.
There are substances capable of causing tumors and for some odd reason these substances could be introduced into the human cells.
When this happens, normal cells that ordinary will undergo the cycle of growth division and death will fail to obey that rule and begin to divide and grow uncontrollably without the normal regulatory mechanism.
If these substances are carcinogens ( substances capable of causing cancers) the individual ends up with a cancer if they not carcinogens the person will end up with a benign tumor that is not cancer.

The big difference between cancers and non cancerous tumors is that the non cancerous tumors or benign tumors grow just locally in one spot but the cancers ( malignant tumors) are capable of not just growing locally but these cells can travel through the blood vessels and lymph systems ( that clears infection from the body) and can be carried to distant sites to set up another cancer foci.they can also invade surrounding tissues as they grow.
The extent of their growth outside their primary origin determines the staging of the cancer and also determines the prognosis ( outcome)
Some cancers have better prognosis than others.

There are theories about who gets cancer and who doesn't and all the predisposing factors
Let me attempt to say a little on that

1 there are people who have cancers and certain tumors running in their families and are likely to get it
2. There are carcinogens in cigarettes, chewing tobacco, fumes etc
3.there is a particularly scary one in foods like peanuts and other grains called aflatoxin
4 there are benign growths that turn to cancer over time
5 over exposure to the sun and skin cancers in very fair skinned people
6 stomach cancers in Asian smoked fish eating communities well documented
7. Betel nuts in India with mouth cancers
8 soy milk and link to breast cancers
9. Cancers increasing with age
10.many many more

In Africa ,liver cancers are more common than in civilized countries
The main predisposing factors are

Untreated chronic hepatitis B
Alcoholism

How do you get hepatitis B?
It is blood borne
Don't share needles ,razors or any sharps, barbers and quack chemist "doctors "using the same razor and needles etc
Sadly some people get it at birth passed on from their mothers( no fault of theirs)

Not everyone who has or has had hepatitis B ends up with cirrhosis and liver cancer

Infact most recover
A small number ends up with these bad consequences.

Can hepatitis B be prevented?
Yes,there is a 3 part vaccine for hep B and every health care worker is encouraged to get it

Can you find out if you have hepatitis B
Yes
There is a blood test that can detect the antibodies to the virus.

Good news

Majority of infected people recover and build a lifetime immunity to hep B

Well said sis. You couldn't have put it down in a more simpler way.

Politics / Re: Where Is This Buhari Fever Coming From? by kayword(m): 4:57pm On Dec 11, 2014
Naturally, people will be eager to know who will contest against goodluck. And APC is the major opposition. Buhari already did his groundwork before joining the APC.

I don't think it will turn out well if election are nnt held. Maybe a change of power can offer something good in the war against BH.
And if Jonah still wins, then we are in for another 4 years of agony

I did not mean proposing at first sight. I was trying to see how it works as regards someone i do not know. How to possibly navigate around it in a way that wil nt lead to haram.

For the brothers here;
To the best of my understanding, majority of what has been discussed here as regards initiating "contact" with a lady revolves around knowing the lady to an extent, maybe neighbors, place of work or the lady's brothers or sisters.
I'd like opinions on how to go about it in case of meeting someone u dont know AT ALL. Like someone far from your area that u just happen to meet along the road.

In short, what are the probable ways of "pursuing" a complete stranger (wit d intentn of marriage)
Sisters' opinions too are welcome

Me thinks it all still boils down to a test of character. Why provoke your usually gentle husband to such a furious state of rage that he has to hit you??

Why allow yourself (the man) get angered to such an extent dat you dont think twice about hitting your wife??

I can't imagine a scenario that warrants beating one's wife. True, women are known to nag, but the ability to restrain oneself 4rm physically harming her when she's at her worst element tells on the man's character.

As per the issue of beating in the hadith. My own understanding is that it could not even called beating, since 'beating' literally means inflicting bodily pain.
It is a symbolic gesture of telling a woman she has really offended you. A woman sensitive enough would be able to recognize she has crossed a limit in that case.

A sister and a brother were planning on getting married; but after a while, the sister quit, because she felt the man was not serious about making things formal on time, and the mans family was also interfering so much in their decision-making.
After 5 weeks, the man came back to the lady again, so that they might solve the problems and plan on getting married. All the while, the mans family had been searching for another sister for the man, and had warned him not to contact the runaway sister again. Now, the lady is confused because she feels the man's family didn't try enough to solve the problem before starting to look for someone else for him. The man is adamant on having her back, because he feels everything was his fault. should she marry the man, hoping that everything will be sorted out, or stand on her decision, considering that the family might not welcome her wholeheartedly?

She should try to know why the family wouldnt want her in the first place. If they are unable to accept her before marriage, it wont be good for their relationship in the long run.

To me, perfectly picturing someone whom you've neva seen before in your dream can only be spiritual, lyk in the case of the prophet (pbuh).

No matter how creative our brain is, it stil has to work with some sort of ''database", whether conscious or subconscious.
You cant just create something out of nothing.

@bolded, actually, I see no big deal about it. It might become an issue depending on what you do with it. Follow Islamic etiquettes on dreams and live your life normally.

Dreaming about someone should not by itself be the reason to marry or not to marry them.

I expect this to be self-evident.

What i meant was someone i av never met.. I wont look at her with "natural" eye o. At least until the initial shock wears off.

Salam alaykum,
I once read a book about dream interpretatn when i was young. Almost everything suddenly started becoming symbolic to me until i realized am starting to read meanings into things of no significance.

These days i dont bother myself too much. Either gud or bad i pray over it and dont relate it to anybody.

Dreaming about a woman as my future wife?? Sounds freakish

For example, the hadith about Prophet Mohammed not wanting to wake his cat.

I think I can remenber hearing that story a long time ago. It was used as an example of the extremely kind nature of the prophet (saw) to even animals. Thats if the story is true though
