Politics › Re: Joke Aside Which State Can Tinubu Get 50k Organic Votes In 2027 by Kdon2: 7:24pm On Aug 04
Linzo:
But let's put the jokes and banter aside.

Which state in Nigeria can President Tinubu get 20k organic votes in during the 2027 election outside the South-West states?

Nobody should mention the South-South because, here in the South-South, and Delta State in particular. Tinubu can NEVER get 5k organic votes based on the current mood of the people.

Even with rigging, he can't get up to 100k votes in Delta. The people here are not easy to fool.

Remember, election rigging in Nigeria works only on two grounds:

1. Rigging works best in your strongest stronghold.
2. Rigging works effectively only if you are already very popular.

On both grounds of electoral manipulation in Nigeria, President Tinubu falls short, except in the South-West to a reasonable extent, but not absolutely.
You see Kwara is in the bag 100%. Kogi, Kano, Nigeria, Edo and benue are also done deal. South south too go shock you. It's not by online noise
Politics › Re: Tinubu-linked Alpha-beta Firm Sets Lagos 2026 Tax Target At ₦2.8trillion by Kdon2: 6:27pm On Aug 04
makinibadan:
EXCLUSIVE: Tinubu-Linked Alpha-Beta Firm Sets Lagos 2026 Tax Target At ₦2.8Trillion, More Than Double Previous Revenue

December 26, 2025

A section of the document, titled “2026 Budget and Strategies at Improving IGR,” points to an aggressive revenue drive coming at a time when Nigerians are grappling with severe economic pressure, business closures, job losses, rising inflation, and public distrust of government fiscal policies.

As anxiety deepens across Nigeria over the implementation of far-reaching tax reforms scheduled for 2026 by President Bola Tinubu’s administration, SaharaReporters has obtained an internal planning document showing that Alpha-Beta Consulting LLP, a firm long linked to President Bola Tinubu, has set a target of generating ₦2.83 trillion in tax revenue from Lagos State alone next year.

A section of the document, titled “2026 Budget and Strategies at Improving IGR,” points to an aggressive revenue drive coming at a time when Nigerians are grappling with severe economic pressure, business closures, job losses, rising inflation, and public distrust of government fiscal policies.

According to the internal figures, Lagos State’s tax revenue stood at “₦1,252,669,245,400.07” as of December 31, 2024, rising to “₦1,409,018,340,857.74” by October 31, 2025. However, Alpha-Beta’s projection for 2026 jumps dramatically to “₦2,830,000,000,000.00.”

The sharp increase could trigger concerns among tax professionals, small business owners, and civil society groups, who fear that the revenue ambition may result in more aggressive enforcement, wider tax surveillance, and tougher penalties, particularly for already distressed companies.

This fear appears reinforced by the company’s own assessment of taxpayer behaviour, where it complained that “some taxpayers are in the habit of making staggered payments in contrary to the tax law.”

In a period of economic downturn, staggered or delayed payments have become a survival strategy for many businesses, raising concerns that stricter enforcement could push more firms into collapse.

Despite the ambitious projection, the document reveals that Alpha-Beta itself faced significant operational challenges throughout 2025.

Among the problems listed were “incessant network down time and power supply at our offices outside the Headquarters” and “incessant power supply at our offices in Alausa Secretariat.”

The firm also admitted to systemic failures in revenue monitoring and compliance enforcement, including “inability to monitor PAYE paid under Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS)” and “challenges with some MDAs revenue codes not available on LRP.”

Perhaps most revealing is Alpha-Beta’s admission that “all efforts to access information about distressed companies or companies that have stopped operation due to economic hardship from LIRS (Lagos Internal Revenue Service) proved abortive hence wastages of productive hours and embarrassment from the concerned companies.”

This acknowledgement sharply contrasts with the massive revenue expectations being placed on the same struggling economic environment.

The document further lists unresolved technical and logistical issues, including “pending outstanding technical issue with the Technical Team,” “inadequate and malfunctioning operation tools e.g., Laptop, UPS,” and repeated “Ibile Card printing challenges.”

Despite these setbacks, Alpha-Beta declared 2025 a successful year, stating that “our efforts geared towards improving IGR and we are able to generate a total sum of ₦1,409,018,340,857.74 as at 31st October, 2025.”

The firm claimed it “facilitated onboarding of 122 MDAs on LRP,” monitored “11,762 corporate payers,” enumerated “7,042 new potential payers,” and sent “28,628 Bulk SMS” to defaulters—although it admitted that bulk messaging later stopped due to “logistic issues.”

It also reported a rise in active taxpayers, stating that “570,590 total companies” paid taxes as of October 2025, with 218,258 remitting PAYE, compared to figures recorded the previous year.

Additional achievements listed include “₦125.52m in value added back to various tax audit reports,” validation of “119,380 and 3,631 ARR and ETCC respectively,” recovery of “long outstanding debt,” and “23,451 companies Data Cleansing in the database.”

The revelations come amid heightened public sensitivity around taxation, with Nigerians increasingly questioning the fairness, timing, and transparency of the Tinubu government’s fiscal reforms.

SlavaUkraini:
A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Kenneth Okonkwo, has claimed that President Bola Tinubu’s inability to provide his primary and secondary school certificates to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, disqualifies from being Nigeria’s president.

Okonkwo charged Tinubu to respect the Nigerian law governing qualifications into universities.

INEC had published credentials and other details of all presidential candidates contesting in the 2027 elections.

Tinubu had presented only his university certificate, while that of his primary and secondary were missing.

This has raised a widespread concern from Nigerians, raising fresh questions about his educational qualifications.

However, Okonkwo posted on X: “Nigeria has its laws that should be respected. No Nigerian is qualified to go to a University without 5 credits at the O’ Level.

“Tinubu purporting to be qualified for President by providing a foreign University certificate, which the University publicly declared did not emanate from it, without providing his secondary school certificate or its equipment disqualifies him from being President.

“The only reason our democracy is in peril is because of judicial rascality.

Despite all warnings by the Chief Justice of Nigeria and the National Judicial Council (NJC), some judges have operated as an island on their own, interpreting the laws they made on the bench, bereft of the imprimatur of the legislature.

“The judges have usurped the powers of the executive and the legislature from the bench with the instrumentality of perverse judgement.”

Politics › Re: Catholics Bishops Attack On Tinubu And Previous Governments by Kdon2: 7:06pm On Aug 02
mrvitalis:
Dismissing the Catholic bishops’ criticism of Tinubu as “partisan” or “because they have a candidate” is foolish. It ignores a long, consistent record of institutional critique that transcends administrations, parties, and personalities. The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) has spoken hard truths to power under military rulers, under Goodluck Jonathan’s PDP, under Muhammadu Buhari’s APC, and now under Bola Tinubu. Treating their latest interventions as a sudden partisan plot reveals more about the accuser’s discomfort with accountability than about the bishops’ motives.

A consistent pattern, not selective outrage

The CBCN has never been a cheerleader for any government. Under Jonathan, the bishops publicly blasted massive corruption, rights abuses, and the failure of federal and state leaders to uphold probity in public resources. Under Buhari, their language grew even sharper. They described Nigeria as “killing fields and mass graveyard,” demanded that the president “save Nigeria from avoidable doom or step aside” if he could not secure the country, and rejected propaganda campaigns that painted religious critics as enemies of the state. They warned of poverty, hunger, insecurity, and the erosion of trust—issues that cut across ethnic and regional lines.

That same institutional voice has now raised concerns with Tinubu: a bleeding economy that fails the poor, persistent insecurity, the narrowing of political space, fears of one-party dominance ahead of 2027, and the need for genuinely free and fair elections. Archbishop Matthew Man-Oso Ndagoso and Cardinal John Onaiyekan have been explicit that the bishops acted after broad internal consultation, that they have no ambition to seize anyone’s office, and that they speak as religious leaders duty-bound to address the lived realities of Nigerians—Catholic and non-Catholic alike. Onaiyekan stressed they are not politicians and are not acting for any party.

If the bishops were partisan operators waiting for a preferred candidate, their record would look very different. They would have been silent under one government and vocal under another. Instead, they have criticized successive leaders of different parties when governance failed ordinary people. Consistency of this kind is the opposite of partisanship.

The “they have a candidate” claim collapses under scrutiny
No credible evidence has surfaced that the CBCN is grooming or backing a specific presidential aspirant for 2027. The bishops’ public interventions focus on systemic issues ,electoral integrity, security, poverty, democratic institutions not on endorsing individuals. Cardinal Onaiyekan has stated plainly that the bishops are united on what matters for Nigeria’s survival even while holding diverse personal political feelings. Suggesting they are merely proxies for some hidden candidate requires inventing motives that the bishops themselves reject and that their history does not support.
This accusation is a classic deflection. When institutions or citizens raise uncomfortable facts, the easiest response is to question their purity of intent rather than engage the substance. It is the same tactic used against earlier episcopal statements under previous presidents. The result is always the same: the underlying problem’s insecurity that still claims lives, an economy that leaves millions struggling, and worries about the health of multiparty democracy—remain unaddressed while attention shifts to the messengers.

Why the charge is foolish on its face
First, it treats religious moral critique as illegitimate by definition. Catholic social teaching has long insisted that the Church has a right and duty to speak on matters of justice, the common good, and the protection of human dignity. Nigerian bishops have exercised that duty across decades. Demanding silence only when the criticism lands on the current administration is selective and self-serving.
Second, it assumes that any criticism of the government must be motivated by opposition politics. This is a low view of both the Church and of public discourse. Bishops live among the people they serve. They hear the stories of kidnapping, hunger, unemployment, and fear. When they convey those realities to the president—and when the president disagrees, as Tinubu did on the state of the economy and the claim that the nation is “bleeding”—that is democratic dialogue, not conspiracy. dailypost.ng
Third, the charge is strategically shortsighted. A healthy democracy needs institutions willing to speak uncomfortable truths to every government. If the bishops are dismissed as partisan today, the next administration will face the same dismissal tomorrow. The long-term cost is a public square in which only praise is acceptable and criticism is automatically tainted.
Nigeria’s challenges—security, economic hardship for the poor, and the integrity of future elections—are real. They predate Tinubu and will outlast him if left unaddressed. The Catholic bishops have criticized previous governments for the same categories of failure. Calling their recent engagement partisan or candidate-driven is not analysis; it is an evasion. It is foolish because it substitutes motive-hunting for the harder work of examining whether the concerns themselves have merit. A serious country listens to consistent institutional voices rather than inventing secret agendas to silence them.
Once you join obi group you will need a lot of deliverance to be free from bitterness
Politics › Re: Why The Catholic Church Pulled Out Of CAN In 2012 by Kdon2: 1:36am On Aug 02
DomPerignon:
The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) accused CAN of being too close to the Federal Government, particularly under the presidency of Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor. They felt this "undue romance" compromised CAN’s role as an independent conscience of the nation and a voice for the voiceless .

The Church stated that CAN was being dragged into partisan politics, which they believed diverted the body from its true objectives of advocating for Christian welfare and national justice.

There were concerns that CAN’s leadership was moving in a direction inconsistent with the founding vision and objectives of the organization. The Catholic Church felt CAN was failing to adequately condemn political wrongs and social hardships facing the country.

During the period when the Catholic Church suspended its relationship with the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) from 2012 to 2018, the Catholic Bishops' Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) was headed by Archbishop Ignatius Ayau Kaigama. He served as the President of the CBCN from 2009 to 2015.

Archbishop Kaigama was the primary leader who announced the suspension in September 2012 and later led the negotiations that resulted in the Church's return to CAN in February 2018 .
Following his term, Archbishop John Onaiyekan (Bishop of Abuja) served as President from 2015 to 2021, overseeing the final years of the suspension and the full reintegration of the Church into the association.

Reverend Fr. Mbaka, known for his fiery sermons and massive following, openly criticized former President Goodluck Jonathan (a Protestant and former Vice President) during the 2015 election cycle.

The Catholic church did nothing to call Mbaka to order and only took steps to gag Mbaka when he began openly dismissing Peter Obi as a VP running mate.

It appears the Catholic church will rather have a northern Muslim as President as can be seen with the manner at which they allowed one of their own rabid priests to openly campaign against Goodluck Jonathan - a Protestant but quickly came out to gag Mbaka when he began abusing his pulpit to dismiss Obi.

Obi, to the Catholic church remains their very best patron and anything to deny him Aso Rock access back when he was running as VP to Atiku was not tolerated.

Now that Obi is running again this time for the Presidency, the Catholic church has now decided it is time to criticize the govt of Bola Tinubu.

Well, Yes Daddy Giringori has finally gotten his religious war backing from the Catholic church .

What ought to be done is to show Protestants in Nigeria how duplicitous the Nigerian Catholic church is and to make them understand that their critisicm on this govt is not out of genuine concern for the betterment of Nigeria and Nigerians but rather to see to their biggest patron , Giringori getting to Aso Rock.
God bless you bro. It's all hypocrisy

5. They have equal rights in this marriage.

6. Jarvis is also expected to remain faithful to the marriage.

7. Any property acquired from now (whether through money, effort, emotion or spiritual contribution) belongs to both of them. If they ever divorce, the one who contributed will get their fair share.

8. Their marriage stands above any cultural or traditional practices that go against the law.

9. Getting married does not remove their fundamental human rights.
