Come to think of it, has Arabic been made compulsory so much so that any Christian student who fails to take it will be penalised? That's not the case here as far as I know. This singular argument of yours, I'm afraid, portrays you like someone with a biased intention. And as a social commentator, which I suppose you are, you ought to balance your analyse.

By the way, my take on this whole issue is why would government, in the first place, "fix it, when it's not broken"? Why the change, for what purpose?

In my days at MBHs, my friends and I do attend Christian fellowship together, and after collecting their biscuits and sweets, we'll run down to observe jumah service. That was before Nigeria was polarised along every lines you can imagine. But I still maintain, to some extent though, this polarisation, as it where, is mostly on social media, and not in real life.

Arabic is a language and a course studied in the university on it's own. Even the first University in the country has an Arabic department. This is to show Arabic has been in Nigerian system before Nigeria's Independence but I doubt you'll understand since you're probably still a jamb candidate.

So why should anyone lose sleep over an OPTIONAL arabic language course being added to the curriculum? Cant we just see how silly this uproar is?...

And then again, when reading through the comments, all I see is just a case of it being desperately politicised with typical conclusions being "apc wants to islamise nigeria," but these commentators always do 2 things to suit the political narrative:
1. They feign ignorance about the subject being optional and always intentionally claim that arabic is being made compulsory
2. They totally ignore the reports which confirm that these updates to the curriculum were instituted in 2012.

All I see here in this uproar is just a continuation of 2015 election campaigns when all the opposition pdp could come up with for its campaigns was "buhari this and buhari that and how buhari wants to islamise even the pope." The strategy failed in 2015 but the paranoia it created is still being fuelled and sustained by the same set of people.

Let them take their arabic to arabic schools simple. There are french schools all over the place for whoever wants it. Whoever wants to learn arabic should go to arabic school to learn it. The only language that should be compulsory is English and any local language.

Every child is given a choice between Arabic and french and in Nigeria of today, we have more french graduates than Arabic. Arabic has even being in the north before English let alone french.


IRK was scrapped like CRK was. You don't hear muslims shouting. If these people want to really fight for Christianity, they should pasuade the FG to replace french with Hebrew rather than antagonize a particular religion.

Whoever removed History from our curriculum would never find peace wherever he or she is. What makes these old hags hypocrites and self serving criminals is that they know the truth about that history of Nigeria. They were alive before Nigeria's Independence. They were taught the first hand history of Nigeria.

The British knows the North were educated in Arabic. They found it hard to communicate with the northern elites who were educated and communicated in Arabic and Hausa. That is why they included Arabic in our currency and our Military.

The British Introduced English to the North and subsequently eliminated Arabic. If not for the introduction of English, Christianity wouldn't have penetrated the north. Now those people have decided to go back to their roots these divisive elements are barking.

It would be quite funny to discover that the ancestral religion of some of this people is Islam. Most of them only encountered Christianity in Christian schools funded by the Nigerian tax payers money during Awolowo era after it was taken over from the missionaries.


Before Nigeria can know true peace and Unity, we must reintroduce the real Nigerian History to our curriculum so that every one can know their place in history and make peace with who they were. These old criminals knows the true Nigerian History but like our old politicians, they will prefer not to reveal it in other to stay relevant and in control.

That is when a northerner can understand where the southerner is coming from and be able to live with it. Same goes the other way round.

I recently paid my fiancée an hagast visit where she works only to discover that this girl has been occupying an apartment with a single door lobby as entry and exit comprising only two rooms with a male senior colleague.

I know many of us especially ladies will argue it doesnt matter. But I have since then been processing all her past suspicious actions , namely: she seldom answer her phone if i call in evenings (between 7 - 2am usually). At 2am she usually calls back that she saw my calls but she was asleep.

Ebonyi State's first lady, Mrs Rachael Umahi has called for the arrest of a female police officer, Joy Okoshi for reportedly pouring hot water on her 15-year-old househelp identified as Chinyere Igwe in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State capital, after officials from her office and the State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development rescued the girl from the policewoman's home.

It was gathered that a hot pot of soup was emptied on Chinyere's body, for not following her 'madam's' instruction, before she also poured hot water on the poor girl.

Chinyere who spoke to newsmen, said she has been subjected to abuses from the woman for the past two years. Here's what she said;

“I failed to follow her instruction and in anger, she came out and carried the pot of soup together with the egusi (melon) and threw at me and it landed on my back. She also carried iron and hit me on my body and ordered me to bend down and raise my leg up but I refused because my back was paining me seriously. She locked me up in a room while she went to boil water to pour on me. I pleaded with her to have mercy on me but she went inside and brought tear gas, then I started crying when she rushed to get hot water and poured on me.

“Only my mother is alive and I have been living with my madam for over two years now. This is as a result of my father’s death coupled with my mother’s financial handicap.

"Her husband also beat me up, but he was not aware that I had such injury because it was in the night. He later apologised and asked his wife to use honey to treat my back" she said.

Chief Press Secretary to the governor’s wife, Donatus Owo in a statement last Saturday said the victim is receiving treatment.
“The matter has been reported to the police while the victim was taken to Police Clinic for medical treatment,’’ she said.
