salford1: Yes. He got credit for his stream time using his naija experience, and he got credit for the (classroom) using his academic qualification from naija. I wish I remember his user name on here. He was also on my phone contacts list before I changed my phone and number. The last time we communicated was about 2 years ago when he sent me a whassap about his job offer at Imperial oil refinery, just outside Edmonton.
It is transferable between TSASK and ABSA. I can't tell for other provinces though. You may want to research on that. When I initially moved to Sask, my housemate (a Pakistani) worked at an ethanol plant not far from Regina, he takes his exams with ABSA (SAIT online correspondence), then would transfer to TSASK. I never bothered to ask him why he does that. Thank you |

So true.
As per your questions: you can't go back to school and qualify for EI. One of the requirements for EI is that you have to be available for work..Being in school full time contradicts you being available for work full-time. But you might want to research further on that. I am only talking from my own experience. Some people may have been able to do work around it. Especially that you are interested in online schooling. You know how all this thing's works. At tax time, you would be asked if you were in school anytime during the tax year. Your school will also send you a t2022 (tuition tax credit) or T4A (statement of income if you received nursery, scholarship or grant from school), and also send copies to CRA. So you want to make sure you qualify for EI to avoid owing when it's time to file.
For Power Engineering, about 2 years ago. Someone on here was able to get credits for some of his post secondary qualifications from Nigeria and experience working similar jobs on an oil rig offshore Niger Delta. I believe he was given his 3rd class certificate but he went through ABSA. He landed and lived in Saskatoon for less than 6month and got a job with Imperial in Edmonton not long after. Unfortunately I do not remember his username. Thanks for this info oga Salford, you mean he did not go for the 6 months classroom training and another 6 month industry training before he got the 3rd class cert? I need help in responding to this pls My application for work permit was rejected yesterday. Though I submitted employment letters and references letters from past employers. This is the message from CIC
Thank you for your interest in working in Canada. After careful review of your work permit application and supporting documentation under the Temporary Foreign Worker Program, I have determined that your application does not meet the requirements of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) and Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations (IRPR). I am refusing your application on the following grounds:
• You have not provided sufficient documentation to support your or your host's income and assets.
• I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 200(1) of the IRPR, based on the purpose of your visit.
• I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 200(1) of the IRPR, based on the limited employment prospects in your country of residence.
You are welcome to reapply if you feel that you can respond to these concerns and can demonstrate that your situation meets the requirements. All new applications must be accompanied by a new processing fee.
Pls what should I do now |

Any country attacking Israel will be dealt 'strongest blow': Netanyahu Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyhahu warned that his country would strike back hard against anyone who attacked it, as he reiterated his support for the US killing of Soleimani.
"Whoever tries to attack us will be dealt the strongest blow," Netanyahu said in Jerusalem.
He said that Israel "stands completely" beside US President Donald Trump's decision, saying Trump should be congratulated for acting "swiftly, boldly and resolutely".

salford: I can't think of any certification for Asset management or reliability engineering either required/or listed as an added asset for jobs in your field. You will need the experience in the field plus the regular Elect Eng degree (EIT, PEng) or diploma in Elect Eng tech (CET, A.ScT etc. If the engineering regulatory bodies do not accept HND, the engineering tech regulatory bodies will accept it). You might be able to find an online certification from a Canadian institute of learning that could help employers look favourably at your resume. Bow Valley college for example has a continuing education program in Asset Maintenance for Plant engineers, techs and specialists in Canada.
As per getting a diploma. it depends on your career goals and aspirations. Some get jobs without having to go back for a diploma while some only get good jobs after. I can't say if you should get one. College application fees are cheap. You can apply a year before the start of the diploma program, while still actively searching for jobs. At least you have that one year to test the job market before considering going back to school. However, If you decide to get a diploma, endeavor to attend a program that offers a co-op option. Seriously you have healed part of my wound. May you live long sir |

salford1: Do you have experience in this industry? If you do, What sort of experience do you have? I am not sure if the engineering regulators bodies accept HND as equivalent to a degree. If they do not, there are still options. Off the top of my head, If your experience is/was in: Transmission operations/maintenance (lucrative) - NETA certifications (level 2 to 4). Design - AutoCad GIS certification from a college/Polytechnic/uni. AutoCad lays the foundation for other industry softwares from GE, Siemens, ABB, Schneider, Eaton etc. Cost Engineering - AACE CPP. Project Management - PMP. Power generation/Automation (lucrative) - Power Engineering certifications (2nd to 4th class) or a diploma. Controls - Instrumentation diploma.
Most importantly, you have to network and endeavor to attend career events for professionals working in your industry. So thankful for your quick response. My experience is in maintenance ( Asset Condition monitoring specialist/ reliability engineering). Do you recommend a Canadian diploma too. Then which field /certification would make it faster in getting a good paying job --------I would have prefered online certification. |

salford1: If you are no longer interested in the education route, and do not want to spend a long time in school, your options would be to go for a diploma or masters in a technical (e.g Civil) or IT field. Trades are good because you only attend college for maybe 2 to 3 months in a year for 3 to 4 years while still getting paid. Most trades pay a decent wage and there is demand. Go for whichever one sparks your interest.
However, do not waive your education qualifications aside. It might still be useful in the future. I am now thinking of getting a certificate in Education via online studies even though I am on an Engineering career path.. @ oga Salford, what diploma or certification course would you recommend for someone with HND in electrical and electronics engineering |

Rence22: 'Thank God it wasn't translated but written in plain English language. It means what it reads. Such a person would be employed indefinitely after receiving Permanent Resident Status. It's a form of exploitation. If the number of years the person would be under their employment after obtaining PR is stated, it would even be better but it is NOT stated. My advice-don't accept the offer or you re-negotiate making them state the number of years after PR status is obtained in the same contract letter. The document can and would be tendered in the court of law if violated. Don't make them think you are a fool and desperate for immigration otherwise you have placed your freedom in their wicked hands which you will forever regret. Think seriously about it again. Please. Thanks for your info. They have told my friend to find out from immigration consultants that once the period is stated,it becomes difficult to secure work permit. They also claimed that Canadian labour law does not allow any employer to force any employees to work for them.that he should not be scared. They say is going to be a two year closed work permit. They have requested all necessary documents for the work permit preparation |

ttmacoy: When you say he got an employment offer, you mean from Nigeria? If yes he should be careful of scams as if he is going on a work visa as you claim they cannot force a commitment to remain after he gets his permanent residence.
Also have they confirmed how they will get him a work permit? not really a scam, i have seen the offer letter myself. The employer has processed the required LMIA. Next stage for him is to process the work permit------Through a canadian immigration consultant anyway The main issue now is the committment |

Hello seniors, a friend of mine just got Employment Contract from a canadian Employer through an agency. He would be going on a 2 yr visa(work permit) But there is a statement included in the contract, .....................Can someone help to explain this.......
Please consider this job offer as a commitment that you will be employed with us on a permanent full-time basis upon receiving your Permanent Resident Status .
Does it mean he MUST still be with the employer even affter getting permanent residency? |
