Even though people like to see Asaba as probably the most Igbo leaning Anioma clan today, by mid-19th century, Asaba was documented as an Edo town with Igbo people increasingly coming from across the Niger. It was already predicted in one such writing by a well-known Yoruba historian that Igbo would soon dominate the population of Asaba. He was right as we can see today.
