Vice president Yemi Osinbajo during an event to celebrate the 59th independent anniversary of the country on October 1, bragged about the special attributes of Nigerians.


Speaking at the event, Osinbajo said Nigerians are the best when it comes to everything – be it dancing, confidence, language, and so on.

The Department of State Services (DSS) has announced the arrest of Abdulrasheed Maina, former chairman of the Pension Reform Task Team (PRTT).

A statement on Wednesday by Public Relations Officer (PRO), Peter Afunaya, said DSS police in a combined operation with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, arrested Maina and his 20 year-old-son, Faisal.

The statement reads: “The arrest which was effected at the Pennsylvania Avenue Hotel, Utako, Abuja followed a request by the EFCC to the Service to assist in the apprehension of the suspect.

“Maina was arrested in the company of his 20-year-old son, Faisal Abdulrasheed Maina, who unsuccessfully tried to resist the arrest.

A former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Professor Charles Soludo, has revealed that he was warned against accepting President Muhammadu Buhari’s appointment into the Economic Advisory Council (EAC).

Speaking on Tuesday at an annual programme organised by the Covenant Christian Centre, The Platform, Soludo said he was amazed at how Nigerians think.

“When I was named as a member of the Economic Advisory Council, a friend called me, spoke in Igbo: ‘leave their job for them’, I asked why, he said ‘but there’s no money there now, just a committee… that’s how we reason in Nigeria,” he said.

I read with dismay the conjecture written by Chi Ngo (Mr Chijioke Ngobili) that the Nnewi monarchy was created by the British. He argued that records showed that the British called the traditional ruler of Nnewi “Chief Orizu”.

He made other claims in that post, which many believed because of his pedigree. But sadly, what he wrote was blatantly false. The opening part of his post read:

Over Five Million naira was lost on Tuesday morning when Sixteen cows died in Mosolashi bus stop along Lagos Abeokuta express road.

The accident happened around 6:30am while a long commercial bus popularly called ‘molue” fully loaded with passengers and the lorry fully loaded with 32 cows collided.

The bus was heading to Oshodi area of Lagos State, while the Lorry to Abatior when the accident happened.

The Nation gathered that the drivers of both vehicles were trying to avoid a deep pothole on Mosolashi bus stop when the accident happened, leaving the area littered and in traffic for some hours.

The lorry carrying the cows was said to have partially hit the commercial bus when it entered the pothole but fell on its other side while trying to move out of the pothole to prevent further pressing on the bus.

A security official said the accident happened around 6:30 am.

He said the truck carried cows from Shaki in Oyo State and was heading to Abatior in Ogun state.

“There is a big pothole here in Mosolashi bus stop. The lorry carrying the cows first partially hit the bus breaking some of its glass, all the passengers ran out of the bus and there was no loss of life. It was while the lorry driver was trying to prevent further falling on the bus and was trying to move out of the pothole that it fell and 16 of the cows died on the spot. The lorry driver fled the scene and was nowhere to be found.”

He said the people from Abatior came to pack the remaining cows that were alive, saying the dead ones were dashed out.

He said both officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Response Unit of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and the police from Alagbado joined hands to clear the environment, saying normality was restored to the area around 1 pm.

The owner of the lorry, Sulaimon Olarenwaju, said the 16 cows that died is worth over N5m.

“The lorry is mine, it was coming from Shaki in Oyo State where the cows were loaded and was heading to Abatior in Lagos where the buyers had already paid for the cows. Mine was to collect the money for transportation but as it is now, I don’t know if I will be paid.”

He said the cows belong to those in Abatior, adding they came to the scene to carry the remaining cows alive.

He lamented as of press time that the police who towed his Lorry to the Alagnado station was yet to release it to him, saying he does not know what to do.

“It was not as if the Lorry driver intentionally caused the accident, the pothole caused it, I don't know why my Lorry is not released, they should please release my lorry and not ask me to pay for it.”

An eye witness said the lorry hit the passenger bus and fell while they were both trying to prevent deep potholes in the area.

He said the passenger bus was safe, noting that nobody died and nobody was injured.

A Landlord identified as Obidike and his son has allegedly beaten up a lady Miss Ogoochukwu Igwe to comatose in Umudim, Nnewi, Anambra state.

The lady who is a hairdresser was reportedly beaten up by Obidike and his son when the lady asked the landlord to stop using his car to obstruct her salon.

According to reports, trouble started when the landlord, arrived at his house and parked his car in front of the salon, which resulted in a brawl.

Chief Dr. Cletus Mmadubugwu Ibeto was born in Nnewi, Anambra State, Nigeria, on November 6th, 1952.


On January 22, 1966, at age of 13, his education ambition was thwarted because of his fathers change of mind to send him to learn a trade instead, so his father sent him off to Mr. John Akamelu in Onitsha.

His time as an apprentice with his master was filled with a thorough study of the trade and inculcation of sheer brilliance in him, which made him a formidable competitor in the market.

At the age of 17, his apprenticeship was shortened by the civil war; he was forced to join the army.

After the war, Cletus Ibeto decided to pursue his dreams of becoming a successful trader once again. To raise capital for his business, one of his elder brothers, Louis, gave him a leather handbag and a round neck suit which Ibeto sold along with a packet of APC tablets he picked up at an evacuated hospital.

"They Illegally Trespassed On My Land", Young Shall Grow CEO Cries Out

Former Head of Service in Lagos State, Alhaji Rafiu Tinubu is dead.

Tinubu died in Abuja on Wednesday at the age of 75, after a brief illness.

A statement signed by Mr Gboyega Akosile, Chief Press Secretary to Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, described Tinubu’s death as a huge loss to the state and the nation in general.

Sanwo-Olu sympathized with Tinubu’s family, the deceased’s friends and associates, saying: “Alhaji Tinubu’s demise came at a time the nation and Lagos in particular needed his wealth of experience the most.”

The youths and various stakeholders in Obosi have begun to wonder the intent and purposes of Rev Fr. Emmanuel Obimma popularly known as Ebube Muonso in encroaching by force and erecting some structures on a property that does not belong to him.

On further investigation, anaedoonline.com understands that the property belongs to Prince Chiedu Kodilinye who is from Umuota village in Obosi and which the owner bought the same from Prince and Princess Properties Ltd.

According to the caretaker of the property belonging to Prince Chiedu, on the 12th of August 2019, Rev Fr. Ebube Muonso and his agents went into Prince Chiedu Kodilinye’s property which is about 25 plots of land and forcefully took a portion of the land amounting to about 7 plots.

16 suspected cultists said to be members of Aiye Confraternity who converged on Oko in Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State from all states of the South East for initiation ceremony were among 85 others recently arrested by men of the State Police Command, the police commissioner, CP John Abang said.

Abang said the entire 85 suspects were arrested within a week’s raid in various locations in the state, while several exhibits including dangerous weapons, their groups' insignia and weeds suspected to be hard drug were found on them.

The police commissioner added that of the 85 suspects, 10 were underage cultists, and have been placed under police supervision, while 10 have been charged to court and others undergoing investigation.

An 18-year-old man, Samuel Akpobome, who was arrested by the police in Edo State for allegedly killing his mother for money rituals, has explained how he committed the act.

Samuel Akpobeme killed his mother, had sex with her corpse for money ritual. The teenager who was paraded by the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Johnson Kokumo, stated that he later had sexual intercourse with his mother’s corpse.


He said, “I wanted to use her (Christiana) for money rituals. I strangled her; she was sleeping when I strangled her at about 5 am. I was advised by a native doctor in Oghara to k**l her. After killing her, I slept with her. The native doctor told me to do so and keep her corpse for two days.”

Spokesperson of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Lagos State chapter, Joe Igbokwe, has described himself as a Nigerian and not belonging to any ethnic group.

Igbokwe, who stated this yesterday at the House of Assembly during the screening of the last batch of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s cabinet-nominees, lampooned those he described as ethnic bigots.

He hinted that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) vice presidential candidate, Peter Obi, was the reason for the attitude of easterners in the state during the last general election.

Lagos should take the lead and be more open to other ethnic groups by giving them political appointments, he asserted.

There was mild drama at the Medanta Hospital, New Delhi, India, yesterday, as leader of Islamic Movement in Nigeria, IMN, Sheikh Ibraheem El-Zakzaky, and his wife, Zeenat, refused to be treated by those he described as unknown doctors deployed to treat them, saying they were different from those engaged for their treatment before they departed Nigeria.

El-Zakzaky, who spoke through an audio recording, also alleged that the condition at the Indian hospital he was taken to was worse than Kirikiri prisons.

The Shi’ites leader and his wife arrived in India last Tuesday for treatment, following the ruling of Kaduna State High Court. This is even as his group, IMN, yesterday called on the Federal Government to allow the personal doctors of the El-Zakzakys to take over their medical care. In the audio recording, El-Zakzaky accused the Federal Government of frustrating his medical treatment in India.

Speaking in Hausa, he said the situation at the hospital in India was “pathetic and worrisome,” alleging that the management of Medanta Hospital, New Delhi, had been threatened not to admit him for treatment.

A Nigerian soldier has reportedly assaulted his wife’s tailor in a community in Edo state, causing some stir in the area.

It has been reported that a tailor has been left with many marks on his body after he was seriously assaulted by five soldiers at S&T barracks road, Opp MFM church, Uselu, Benin, Edo State.

According to the victim, the wife of one of the soldiers had given him a cloth to sew but he couldn’t, because she didn’t make herself available for measurement.

The lady later sent her daughter to collect the cloth but the girl was rude to one of his apprentices and she eventually left without taking the cloth with her.
