NYSC / Help A Nairalander On A Pressing Issue by kennethokey15(m): 8:39pm On Aug 18, 2016
Hello Nairalanders, please I need a clarification on an issue that has been lying beside me for some days now. We graduated in 2015 but have not yet been mobilized for the NYSC, no thanks to an intra departmental problem that has been resolved. My coursemates and I were elated when we confirmed that our names are in the Students' Affairs Unit. We have been hoping to go with Batch B 16 after narrowly missing A 16. We have now been living in despair after the NUC made public the names of the departments and Schools that lost its recent accreditation. Unfortunately, my Department was axed as well. Though I have spoken with my HOD and he has dispelled my fears. My question is, will we that graduated before our Department lost the NUC accreditation be affected?

Many thanks for your anticipated kind words.

Buhari, who earlier traveled to the UK to treat ear infection, said he was okay and can even wrestle with anyone.

The President was received by Zamfara State Governor, Abdulaziz Yari; Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello; members of the Federal Executive Council, top government officials, federal lawmakers and service chiefs, among others in Abuja airport on Sunday.

On arrival, Buhari inspected a guard of honour mounted by men of the Guards Brigade.

“You have seen me. You saw me when I was going. You can do the assessment yourself.

“I am okay. You can see me inspecting the guard of honour. You can see I am taller than you. Do you want to wrestle with me? You can do so,” Buhari said.

Crime / Re: Two Killed In Bonny As Cult Groups Clash In Rivers State by kennethokey15(m): 12:32pm On Jun 18, 2016
People no longer value human life because they belong to confraternities. Cultism is now the order of the day as killings have materialised. I won't be shocked to hear about reprisal attack in few days from now. Cultists may seem to be brave from the outside, but deep inside, they are chickens. Cultism doesn't pay, rather, it sends people to their early grave.

It was a gory scene to behold. I went to Watt Market here in Calabar and met the scene on my way back. I guess it was a reprisal attack. Calabar South boys ain't smiling. They just don't kill anyhow, they have their prime targets. Cultism is beginning to materialize again in Calabar after Donald Duke helped to curb their activities. Cultism doesn't pay, rather, it sends hale and hearty men to their early graves. A cultist don't walk a free man because virtually everybody around is an enemy. We hear about cult clashes almost on a quotidian basis with human lives being lost. That was how I visited a friend in Enugu who sleeps with an axe and a matchet beside his head. I spent just a night and ran for my life. He called me a chicken and I willingly accepted. Life is priceless.

Politics / Fuel Price Hike: Presidency Rolls Out Palliatives by kennethokey15(m): 7:08pm On May 15, 2016
By Levinus Nwabughiogu ABUJA – To cushion the harsh effect of the new pump price of Premium Motor Spirt, PMS also called petrol on the people, the presidency is set to implement the N500 billion earmarked in the 2016 budget for social welfare. A statement by the media spokesperson for Vice President Yemi Osinabjo, Mr. Laolu Akande in Abuja on Sunday stated “All together the federal government would be directly impacting the lives of more than 8 million Nigerians in different social investment 2016 budget spending that would provide succor and be a ready-made palliative to ordinary Nigerians.” Giving a breakdown of the interventions and palliatives, Akande said that said that there would “the direct payment of N5000 monthly to one million extremely poor Nigerians for 12 months as provided for in the 2016 budget for which N$68.7B has been appropriated.” Similarly, the government has also made available a “direct provision of very soft loan -cash for market women, men and traders, including artisans and Agric workers. This would be for a total of 1.76m Nigerians, without the requirement for conventional collateral. Some of the traders will likely get about N60,000. A total sum of N140.3B has already been appropriated for this in the budget”. The details also showed their there would be “payment of between N23,000 to N30,000 per month to 500,000 unemployed graduates who would be trained, paid and deployed to work as volunteer teachers, public health officers and extension service workers among other responsibilities. They would also be given electronic devices to empower them technologically both for their assignments and beyond”. According to the media aide, “100,000 artisans would also be trained and paid N191.5B has been set aside for this in the passed budget.” He also said that “At least 5.5 million Nigerian primary school children -ie starting first in 18 states-three per geopolitical zones-would be fed for 200 school days under the free Homegrown School Feeding Programme”, as “N93.1B has been appropriated for this in the 2016 budget.” In this same vein “100,000 tertiary students in Science Technology Engineering & Maths-STEM, plus Education will partake in the N5.8B already provided for this education grant in the budget. Akande stated that “This payment would also be paid directly to the students.” He stated that these measures that would start in a matter of weeks would certainly lift the ordinary man from the pangs of economic hardship and poverty. “Long before now, the Presidency has made adequate arrangements in the 2016 budget to ensure that Nigerians are lifted from poverty and hardship,” Akande said, adding that “the Buhari presidency is keen to ensure that Nigerians are lifted and that if necessary on an ongoing basis palliatives measures would always been considered to address the conditions of the people.”

Celebrities / Why I Reported Wizkid To The Police – Linda Ikeji by kennethokey15(m): 7:48pm On Apr 17, 2016
The ongoing feud between blogger, Linda Ikeji and talented singer, Ayo balogun, aka Wizkid took another twist after Linda confirmed the reports that she has issued a complaint about Wizkid with the Nigerian Police in a recent post on published on her blog. By Linda Ikeji I’m sure many of you have read that the police is now involved in my issue with Wizkid. Yes, I reported his public threat to me two Sundays ago to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police and I want to explain why I did it! Please pay attention and keep an open mind. I’ve read a lot online from people saying I don’t like Wizkid. Even Wizkid himself thinks I don’t like him. Why he or anyone would think so is puzzling to me to be honest. Apart from his achievements after he started insulting me online a few weeks ago…everything else, every success Wizkid has recorded in the last 3/4 years is on LIB. All the awards, all the record breaking feats, his sold out concerts, his foreign magazine features, and collaborations, everything that has built him up to the young man he is today is on LIB. Please verify! Search my blog. Please continue… I was a huge Wizkid fan. The only song I danced harder to than his ‘Dance For Me’ track was Fuse ODG’s ‘Antenna and Kiss Daniel & DJ Shabzy’s Raba. So, no, I had no dislike for Wizkid. But about a year ago, I noticed his indirect snide remarks at me…and when some other music star beefed with me, Wizkid showed his support and made disrespectful comments. That was when I noticed he had issues with me… but that didn’t stop me from writing about him and celebrating him. Now to the issue at hand. When I reported that he was served quit notice at his Lekki home, I stated fact and I didn’t write it out of malice. It’s not everyday you get exclusive stories…and I’m sure any other blogger who got the story first would also have published it. So, there was no beef, I was just doing my job. A day or so after I wrote this story, Wizkid went on my instagram page to call me names and lied that I slept with some director of his…which I have said before is 1000% lies! But the insult and lies is not why the police is now involved. Here’s the thing; You can insult me, insult my family, call me any names you like, even lie that I slept with your forefathers…but don’t threaten me. If you threaten me, I will act! I read people online saying that I reported to the police because I am scared of Wizkid. No, my darlings, I am not afraid of Wizkid. Though I do not take his threats lightly. I went to the authorities for two reasons…and please young boys of our generation, pay attention to what I am about to write below. You see, violence against women and threat of violence against women is not okay. Threatening harm to someone in a public space is a criminal act in every country of the world, including Nigeria. I bet some of you didn’t know that, yeah? You can not publicly threaten someone with harm. You will only get away with it if your victim doesn’t report to the authorities. If they do, you will have a case with the police and I promise you, the police take these things seriously. I reported this case to the authorities because I want our young men to know this is not okay. You should not raise your hands on a woman. You shouldn’t even threaten to raise your hands on a woman. Wizkid wrote that he would send his 16 year old cousin to beat the shit out of me. Letting Wizkid get away with it is basically telling our young men that this is okay…and it’s not! After Wizkid made the threat to me, I saw a lot of teen boys hailing and applauding him. To them, this was okay. If their idol can threaten a woman with harm, and use derogatory words, they also can do it…and that’s how the circle of abuse of women continues. Women being called ‘smelly pussy’ trended online for a day or two! Little boys were happy to use the words. Sad! It is appalling to me that anyone, especially women, would cheer Wizkid on. When he wrote RIP Linda, I saw a few young girls write same, laughing. This is not a laughing matter. It doesn’t matter whether you like me or not! This is not about Linda Ikeji. This is about abuse of women which has eaten deep into our society, so deep that it has now been accepted as normal. Men do it all the time and get away with it. So many women are battered by their husbands and they refuse to speak up because of the stigma. They refuse to seek help because they are afraid of what people will say. I am sorry, I am not one of those women. I refuse to be victimized. And as long as I have my voice and my platform, I will speak up. We women have to come together to lend a strong voice to the plight of women in our continent. When we see a woman being physically and mentally abused, let’s act. Let’s speak up. Let’s not laugh and say she deserves it. If we continue to keep quiet, the circle of abuse will continue. And one day, You, yes You, will find yourself in the receiving end of a thundering slap, followed by heavy blows. If not you, then maybe your daughter? Let’s condemn violence and threat of violence against women! This is not acceptable! Young men like Wizkid, a father of two young boys himself, should never advocate violence against women. One day, he will have a daughter, how would he feel if another male threatens to put hands on her or even calls her a hoe? I can’t count how many times Wizkid called me a hoe in his rant against me. That’s what boys do. When they get into a fight with a woman, they try to slut-shame her. Smelly pussy, hoe, ashawo etc. You call a woman, who gave another young woman, whose real name she doesn’t even know N500,000 just because she said she would rather work by carrying cement than prostitute herself, that’s the person you call a hoe? When your mind is so warped you can’t differentiate between a woman and a hoe, then this is what happens. Except you drive to Sanusi Fanfuwa at 2am to pick up a prostitute, who proudly describes herself as one, then you shouldn’t call any woman a hoe. Even Tupac who was a well known thug could differentiate between the types of women he dealt with. When asked in an interview why he called women bitches, he said people shouldn’t confuse things, that he wouldn’t address a mother or a sister the way he would address a bitch, that the bitches were the ones he dealt with in the clubs who behaved like one. He reiterated that he respected women! In more civilized countries, Wizkid would have lost his endorsements and spent the next year or so apologizing and being in the fore-front of promoting anti-violence crusades against women. It took Chris Brown years to get back on his feet after his assault on a woman. Up till today, he doesn’t have any major endorsements and some countries still deny him entrance into their country i.e Australia for something he did 7 years ago. Yes, violence against women is serious! And there’s the case of incitement. When you have power and influence, you have to be careful what you say in public. Because you have such power, something you say can influence your followers. A fan can commit acts that even you may not support or might not even condone. But because it came out of your mouth, they think you mean it. So it is irresponsible to say things that might be inciteful. In Law, you can be held responsible when people act based on what you said in public. Tupac was charged to court and indicted after some thugs killed a police officer. The thugs went to court and mentioned that their idol encouraged violence against LA police officers in a song where he said ‘Drop a cop’. So, we folks with some measure of influence should be more careful with our utterances. People are watching and listening! The second reason I filed a police report is to encourage other women in similar situations to do same. My dear ladies, if a man threatens to puts hands on you, and you feel the threat is real, report to the authorities. Don’t wait until he does it. What if you don’t survive it? If he’s picked up and may be charged to court (yes, you can be charged to court for making threats…it’s a misdemeanor with a prison sentence), then he will think twice before making threats against you in the future or any other woman for that matter. I went as far as I did for me and for other women. This is to pass a strong message to our young men that these kinds of behaviour towards women will not be tolerated. Should not be tolerated. If you assault or even threaten to assault a woman, the law will come after you if she chooses not to be silent. Women, don’t be silent. Let’s break the circle. For your sake, for my sake, for the sake of our daughters, grand daughters, great grand daughters and all other women that will follow them. And that’s really all I have to say in the matter. Thank you guys for reading And to Wizkid fans, please be rest assured that I wish him all the best in life. He will continue to grow from strength to strength (as long as he doesn’t endorse violence against women) and his light will never diminish. God brought him to this level and will continue to keep him. I have nothing but love for his craft and hope that one day, we will put this behind us. God bless him, me, you and everyone else in the world. Cheers.

Health / How To Completely Reverse Type 2 Diabetes by kennethokey15(m): 7:12pm On Apr 15, 2016
Diabetes is a condition where the amount of glucose in your blood is too high because the body cannot use it properly.
Diabetes is a common health condition. In 2013, it is estimated that over 382 million people throughout the world had diabetes. There are over 3.5 million people diagnosed with diabetes in the UK and an estimated 549,000 people who have the condition but don’t know it.
PREDIABETES is a condition in which blood glucose levels are marginally higher than normal but not high enough for the diagnosis of diabetes. If you are able to detect your prediabetes condition in time, there is a likelihood that you can prevent or delay its occurrence.  If the prediabetes stage is not addressed in time, it can lead to Type 2 diabetes.
In any case, you should get tested.
The types of diabetes include the Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. Type 1 diabetes occurs when the body does not produce insulin. Approximately 10% of all cases of diabetes are type 1. Type 2 diabetes occurs when the body does not produce enough insulin for proper functioning. Approximately 90% of all cases of diabetes worldwide are of this type.
Overweight and obese people have a higher risk of developing Type 2 diabetes compared to those with a healthy body weight. People who think they have diabetes must visit their physician for diagnosis. They might have some of the symptoms which include: frequent urination, unexplained weight loss, very dry skin, numbness in hands/feet, excessive thirst.
With Type 2 diabetes, the body continues to produce insulin; the insulin production by the body may significantly decrease over time.
The pancreas produces either not enough insulin or the body is unable to recognise insulin and use it properly. When there is not enough insulin or the insulin is not used as it should be, glucose can’t get into the body cells so as to be used as energy. The glucose then builds up in the blood.
There are natural solutions to help stimulate normal functioning of the cells. The supplements help to provide the body with what it lacks. With these natural supplements, you can improve the glucose metabolism.
One of such solution is GLUCOFIT.
GLUCOFIT is a pack of supplements which helps to lower the effect of diabetes and also reduces the blood sugar level in your system.
Finally, you become diabetes free as you use them.

NYSC / 18 Corps Members To Repeat Service In Oyo State by kennethokey15(m): 7:38am On Apr 15, 2016
No fewer than 18 out of the 4,034 2015 batch A Corps members who served in Oyo state would repeat their service year due to evasion of service continuously for three months. Mr Stephen Bankole, NYSC Director of Information in Oyo state, made the disclosure on Thursday in Ibadan in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN). He said that extensions of service were given to no fewer than seven corps members, ranging from one week to four months. “Extension occurs when a member did not attend his Place of Primary Assignment regularly or has not been signing monthly payment voucher as at when due. “However it is only NYSC headquarters that ratifies cases of abscondment,” he said. Bankole said that no fewer than 33 corps members who served in the state got married during service year, while 50 went on maternity l eave. “We had about 1,753 males and 2,281 females. “Six received award of exemplary service while 11 received award for execution of projects in their host communities,” he said. He urged the corps members still in service to live exemplary life and be good citizens to avoid falling victim of extension of service or abscondment after their service year. The information officer advised the outgoing corps members to make good use of the entrepreneurial skills they acquired during service to enable them become self employed. “They should go into the larger society to earn their living honestly and legitimately as good citizens, no shortcuts,” he said.

Politics / Re: Lagos Government To Sign Mou For Construction Of 4th Mainland Bridge In May – Am by kennethokey15(m): 7:32am On Apr 15, 2016
Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State on Thursday said the State Government would sign a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, with investors for the construction of the proposed 4th Mainland Bridge before May 29.
Mr. Ambode, speaking at the Third Quarterly Town Hall meeting in Ikorodu, said that the bridge would run from Ajah to Ikorodu, to Isawo, and berth at Ojodu, Ikeja, back to the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
“Many investors have shown interest in the actualisation of our dream for the 4th Mainland Bridge,” he said.
Mr. Ambode said that once the MoU was signed, works would begin on the bridge, which would boost the economy of Lagos-East Senatorial District.
He also said that plans were underway to convert the Ikorodu-Imota-Itoikin-Agbowa Road to an eight-lane road under the Build-Own-Transfer (BOT) scheme.
He said that though the government did not have fund for the reconstruction of the road, some investors had shown interest in the project.
He said the road would be built under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) programme.
“It will be a PPP Project; there will be three lanes on both sides and the remaining two lanes in the middle will be reserved for rail development in the future when the government has funds for the project,” he said.

On commercial motorcycle riders operating on Mile 12- Ikorodu Expressway, Mr. Ambode ordered the Commissioner of Police and other security agencies to enforce the law in the area.
He said that from now on, they would no longer be tolerated, as government would take drastic action to nip the menace in the bud for the safety of lives.
“As much as Okada is dangerous to our safety and security, we as government must create alternative.
“I am happy that all our leaders and traditional leaders are here; with what we have provided on the Mile 12 axis, that is the BRT buses, I do not think anybody will want to ride Okada again.
“It will fizzle out before I take my final action,” Ambode said.
He also ordered the taskforce to serve evacuation notice to all occupants of shanties at Ajelogo-Akanimodo in Ikorodu , after which demolition should commence in earnest, noting that such places harboured criminals.
Mr. Ambode, while reeling out the achievements of his administration in the last three months, said the state had achieved major breakthrough in the area of security.
He said that since the launch of the N4.78 billion security equipment, the state had won several battles against crime.
Mr. Ambode said the quick response in the rescue of the kidnapped girls in Ikorodu and the quelling of the Mile 12 riot were testimonies of the effectiveness of the security system in the state.
The governor said that many criminals had so far been arrested since the launch of the security equipment.
“I am ready to pay monetary compensation for information on hardened criminals as we proceed to make Lagos crime-free.
“We are happy to report that crime rate has also reduced in the last three months,” he said.
Mr. Ambode said his administration had also recorded success in its Light Up Lagos Project as 68 rural communities were recently connected to the national grid.
He said that places like Ile-Zik down to Tollgate on Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway had been lit up.

He disclosed that the Light Blue Rail project was now about 85 per cent complete.
On education, the governor said N561 million was paid by the State Government as West African Examination Council (WAEC) fees of 46,000 public school students in the state for this year’s Senior School Certificate Examination.
“This government is methodically and strategically pursuing our programmes to put Lagos on the world stage as a megapolis.

Politics / Lagos Government To Sign Mou For Construction Of 4th Mainland Bridge In May – Am by kennethokey15(m): 7:28am On Apr 15, 2016

“Please pay your taxes and take ownership of the projects we have initiated and together we will build the Lagos of our dreams.
“I solicit your support in ensuring the full realisation of our policies and programmes to achieve our goal of a safe and prosperous Lagos,” Mr. Ambode said.

Politics / Fayose Raises Alarm Over Buhari’s China Trip by kennethokey15(m): 9:31pm On Apr 08, 2016
Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has raised the alarm over President Mohammadu Buhari’s scheduled trip to China.
Mr. Fayose said the president was visiting the Asian country borrow $2 billion as part of the N1.84 trillion programmed to be borrowed to finance the 2016 Budget, describing the move as an attempt to mortgage the future of Nigeria and its people.
The governor, who said the 2016 budget was not a reflection of the present economic reality in the country, added, “By the time they borrow N1.84 trillion to fund their N6.06 billion budget; I wonder how Nigeria will survive in 2017 when the Federal Government will be servicing debt with about 50 percent of its budget.”
In a release issued on Friday by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Governor Fayose said; “In elementary economics, you don’t propose to spend more when your income reduces and I still can’t understand this Buharinomics in which Nigeria is going to spend N6.06 billion with crude oil bench mark of $38 per barrel when the country budget was N4.5 trillion in 2015 when crude oil bench mark was $53 per barrel.
He said since the President claimed to have recovered and still recovering trillions of Naira looted from the treasury and over N3 trillion saved from the Treasury Single Account (TSA), the 2016 budget should be funded with the recovered fund.
The governor said he was alerting Nigerians of the danger in the federal government’s plan to fund the 2016 budget with loan, adding that: “Tomorrow, it will be said of me that I did not keep silent when Nigeria was being mortgaged to unnecessary debt.
He warned that with the proposed N1.84 trillion borrowing, $2 billion of which President Buhari is already going to borrow in China, the nation may soon be going the way of Greece because Nigeria will be borrowing N5 billion per day for the next 365 days.
“If your income was N200, 000 per month last year and your expenditure was N195, 000 per month; does it make any economic sense for you to propose to spend N300, 000 per month this year that your income has reduced to N120, 000?

“Only President Buhari can explain to Nigerians what manner of Economic theory encourages borrowing of N1.84 trillion to fund a N6 trillion budget. As for me, it is nothing but a voodoo economic theory and Nigerians must take note that the income that should accrue to them in five years’ time is about to be spent in one year by the Buhari’s APC government,” the governor said.
