I was in their branch today and was inform that about 3 of their staff that I know quite well have been asked to leave the system. I also learnt the bank is planning another one soon where a lot of their staff would be massively affected. An insider hint me all these... That things have been rough with the bank lately since the merger with defunct mainstreet bank and inception of TSA. This news can be confirmed in their branches here in Lagos and other places.
Career / Skye Bank Unjustified Mass Sack Today - Bankruptcy! by kenny1st(m): 10:16pm On May 27, 2016
From a reliable source., it was learnt that Skye bank lay off thousands of staff today without a cogent reason behind their action. The staff questioned on the clarity of this allegation confirms that the bank is seriously bleeding and in financial mess, that they have been looking for ways to achieve this aim long time ago since they can no longer pay salaries of thousands of staff including those of newly acquired mainstream bank. He said the bank has been hit so badly since the government withdrawal of public funds from commercial banks into a CBN treasury single account. The bank has been struggling to meet up with their financial obligations and according to the staff, they have been cutting expenses to the extend that they economise basic office daily needs like stationery and fuelling their marketers' car. He even said that they no longer buy dispensable water for their customer. Another staff that was willing to share with us said"things are not going well for the bank my brother, why would they go and acquire a distress mainstreet bank when they know the TSA is coming and the financial future of the country at this time is volatile". He said most of the people sacked are the best hands In the bank, now it's customers that will suffer from all these.

Well.. I think the NLC should carefully look Into this unjustly act and save these poor souls that are been thrown into Labour market again. Hope the NLC will rise up and fight for justice.

Career / _skill Acquisition, Entrepreneurship Skill & Ond Certificate A Must! by kenny1st(m): 3:35pm On Dec 24, 2015
I desire to open this thread to enlighten and widen the knowledge of young african ,especially Nigerians to the realities of our today's society; many who seek white collar jobs that are fast becoming like a diamond hunt. I am writing this based on my personal experience and situations of other people around me that I have learnt from. This piece is not for the youngs alone but parents can also find this imperative to benefit their kids.

In this current age, it is not appropriate to encourage a child to embrace just 'one way traffic education system' in achieving their dreams this used to be the norm in the time of our fathers and it was working well for them; days when a university is like a king in the family and like a prince in the home town, days when lot of lucrative jobs are waiting for a graduate to make a choice from, days when employers queue in universities for fresh graduates, days when graduate are automatically employed with official apartments and vehicle. Those born in the mid 80s and 90s may find these as mere exaggeration.

Waking up to the reality of our own time, things are no longer the same and this is the reason we the youth of nowadays need to change our focus and orientation, intact, have a believe that being a university graduate doesn't guarantee your success in life . university education is good and unavoidable but in between we need to look inward if we must balance our career and shun looming poverty after graduation from the university.

Entrepreneurship/skill acquisition is no doubt number one way out of poverty and un employment, look inward ponder on your in born talents, think of those things you are passionate about and find means of turning it to a business that can bring you Good return in terms of money and benefits. There are career counsellors scatter erywhere, look for one that can help you polish your talent or get an approachable mentor. Now this area I want to talk about is key; Its not possible that all of will be wizkid or 2face and all of us can't be Genevieve or basketmouth, this is why some of us need to learn a skill. I remember that time, after my Ond when I was learning office machines repairs from some one who hardly complete his secondary school, this man I called my oga then could hardly express himself in English yet he was comfortable and had basic properties a man can think of. Some youths see themselves being too low to go and learn a particular work that will benefit their lives. Being a graduate or having more higher certificates do not mean you cant still learn a skill work. THIS IS A REALITY OF OUR TIME.

I will also like to encourage some of us who are yet to enter into university to try and earn Ond certificate before proceeding into the university. If we are conversant with Nigerian labour market today, the major employer of labour prefer to engage the Ond graduates because of the lesser salary, they believe that a full graduate is costly to engage. As a graduate who has Ond background, you can accept offer for Ond and later you can begin to rise to a higher level in same organisation or switch for a better job later. I think this method is better of rather than endless waiting for a job that match your university qualification.

Education / Re: Private Vs Public Universities - Which Is Better? by kenny1st(m): 11:56pm On Oct 04, 2015
To me I give it to public university not all though because they are also categorised. I have been opportuned to meet and work with some graduates of some private universities and I can say that I am disappointed at their disposition and output.well, some of them are good in playing and twisting English verbally but I am not rating based on that. @ ops, your comments paragraph on Curriculum and exams say a lot which I am also aware of long before now. I just think some of these private universities are profit driven and out to sell their brand by making sure none of their students spend more than stipulated period on their course of study not minding whether they pass or not.

At the long run, private university can be better if our system ensures that private universities play by the rule one hundred percent. I believe without any doubts that majority of private uni in Nigeria buy their way through before they are established.

Celebrities / Re: Etcetera Slams Dstv For Tariff Increase by kenny1st(m): 12:48pm On Mar 15, 2015
well said mr etcetera, but instead of doing this, I suggest you start campaigning for Start times. This is another cable network in Nigeria, under the NTA platform, that has come to brake the long monopoly enjoyed by Dstv, but the question now is that how many Nigerians appreciate and accept this competition. Even you, ectetera , don't have a star time decoder box in ur home. See, we Nigerian have one major problem that is even affecting our economy and give superiority and advantage to the developed economy. we should learn to value our own products and services, though our products/services may not be of the same quality with that of the developed world but through our consistency in the usage and appreciation it will surely get better.

I quite understand that startimes do not have so many stations compared to its counterpart, especially when it comes to sport and entertainment but I think we Nigerians can make it happen and get the star times even better than Dstv. How can we achieve this; the likes of excetera should champion the campaign/rally and mobilization of people to convey the voices of Nigerians to our Govt, that show or support to star times network and how they can assist us to upgrade it to better suite the needs of the poor masses. In the same context, we should also express our dissatisfaction on the extortion and poor customer treatment of Dstv to the govt.

This opinions of mine may be crictised but I think we should start from here first and see where this will lead us. Nigerians, we cant continue to keep silence over everything and allow even foreign citizens/company to countinue oppressing us in our own country. Enough is enough!
Politics / Re: Nigeria: Kogi State Witnesses More Development by kenny1st(m): 4:51am On Mar 07, 2015
kogi of all states, kogi that I know very well. sometimes,I think that state is cursed, nothing to show as developmental project and has been a state on its own for. decades. kogi is the headquarters annex of corruption, the only serious work the governments officials do their ( local and state)is to wait for monthly federal allocation and share amongst themselves to build hotels. there's no major development in that state. that's my worst rating state.

I think this is true...I have experienced this many times. PPMS comes in various qualities from different refiners. If you have seen this product in different colours then that may convince you that the OP statement may be true. My observation here is subject to further confirmations as I will also like to know the overall fact on this.
