BrowNetter: I see your braveness. If you ever get an approved American visa, you should please tear it.. Now, My brother, cousins and i are making it quite well in corporate America and not a single one of us will contemplate spending one night in Nigeria if it can be helped. No system is perfect, but you cannot convince me that Nigeria holds any value to anyone who appreciates real living (as against merely existing).
You comparing an American menial worker and a Nigerian bank manager is bullshit. Why don't you do it this way; * An American menial worker versus a Nigerian menial worker. * A Doctor or Nurse in America with those in Nigeria. * An American taxi driver to that of a Nigerian list so endless. We pay tax, oh yes and we fucking love it. For about a decade, light went off like once, and that was during a hurricane in my city before which I already got an e-mail informing me on that. I have peace, security, justice, know i can drive at night, alone, on impulse, and have zero fear of armed robbers or area boys or bad roads. I go back to my abode, knowing i won't have to struggle to find kerosine to cook, that i won't need candles as my source of light, that i will turn on the tap and water will flow and that my biggest problem would be what to cook rather than if i will get to eat or not. Oh please fvck it, you can't compare
The average 18-year old American kid can take a backpack, pick a ticket to anywhere in Europe and fly out... with nothing but a few dollars in their pocket. In Nigeria, successful middle class adults have to provide tax forms, letters from employer, return tickets home, bank account information, invitation letters, cram visa interview questions and answer + 7 day fasting and prayer, just to spend a few days in South Africa of all places. My brother... America isn't perfect, but i'm sure glad i live here and not in Lagos. Now you can continue Argueing with your village people So you can talk like this |

Others??
I'm 017. My signature was born out of recent boredom sort of. So ABE and Met Mat has no Nick name oh I see cos combining the two should be tough. |

Luckygurl: I'm not trying to absolve him of his misconduct, do I stand to gain anything from that? He effed up real time.
All what I'm trying to say is this, been an indigene gave him little or no edge to why he was elected cos you made it seem like he had an advantage over others that are non indigenes(at least that was how I understood your comment then).
016?? Engineering at that.. I might even know you, I'll leave it at that though. I bet you won't know me, you're an Engineering student too? You must be a tough girl to combine school with your signature. |

Luckygurl: Honestly don't know what took him there. Tried chatting him up but he's not replied yet.
The school feeds them indirectly, does that mean they should keep shut if students are exploited?
How can a final year 500level engineering student pay close to the tune of 80k as school fees. That's plainly ridiculous. Hostel fee has always been 9,500 for the males and around 11,500 for the females but guess what? From the schedule released it's sky rocketed to 25k...
And not like it's some new hostel. It's still the same dilapidated buildings erected even before the civil war.
He's an indigene yeah. But one credit I'll give to him is the zeal and enthusiasm he displayed running for that office. I give that up to him, an indigene or not, he worked so hard to be elected.
I don't want to believe he's a crook cos I know him on a personal basis and expected more from him. It's unfortunate he isn't what I always see him as. Josh fall hand aswear...
You're a super lion?? Which department?? Year? How's it like, life outside the den?? His zeal during election is not enough to assume his intentions are pure, allegations against him is much. I know issues we had with indigenes during faculty elections n co...I hope u can testify for him, if there is any room to petition his case , A smart president should sync with the house. That hostel fee rise will increase off K rent too , too bad. 2016 Engineering Life outside school is cool, with a good background, you just keep adjusting your plans to realise your dreams |

drhammed: Steps for McGill is closely similar but not the same.
For McGill (Masters)
You contact the department you intend to apply to and seek nomination for MCF scholarship.
They will request for your credentials and forward it to department.
After review, department will contact you as whether you have been nominated for MCF or not.
If you have been nominated, MCF will confirm your eligibility and guide you to apply to McGill with fee waived.
Note: The nomination is done by a professor in the department you're applying to. Hence you don't have to contact them yourself.
I attached list of Program eligible for funding by MCF.
This was the message I got from McGill.
Cheers. Thank you, have you applied already? For the M. Eng, can one choose between Thesis or (Non-thesis) |
Education › Re: Mastercard Foundation Scholarship, Enter Here by kennynelcon(m): 12:37pm On Oct 23, 2017 |
drhammed: In as much as you are in line, let me clear some issues to avoid confusion.
UBC MCF (Masters Application) -.
1. You mail the Program Coordinator, send them your transcript and they decide if you're eligible to apply for scholarship or not.
2. If you're eligible, they send you a form to fill, with 5 essays to write. After filling the form, you attach your essay, 2 reference letters, and other supporting documents like CV, transcripts, and certificates.
3 Upon receipt of your application package, MCF will direct you to apply to UBC and guide you to waive application fee.
4 If you receive admission from UBC, good. Your department will nominate you for MCF Scholarship (remember you have already submitted your application package to them).
5. Selection committee will decide on awarding the scholarship and results will be announced by March 2018.
Hope the steps was explicit enough.
Cheers McGill follows same steps too? Is Contacting a potential Supervisor needed for either? |

For Research Students, If a Potential Supervisor doesn't reply you, try calling his line during office hours, if he can't pick, drop a voice mail. Works like magic. Also if you can fund yourself, do not hesitate to mention that too, adding a research topic you could work on is an added advantage. Gods grace. |
