Who has noticed the new biometrics residence permit arrangement where you will be issued a temporary visa for 30 days in your home country and you will have to travel to UK within that 30 days to get the main visa? Can someone please throw more light on this?

@justwise, am planning to renew my passport next week. Was wondering if the visa on this passport will still be valid as I understand the passport will be cancelled upon issuing a new one.

As at press time on Thursday, about 2,047 persons had signed a petition asking Yale University to withdraw the honorary doctorate degree awarded to Nigeria's Coordinating Minister of the Economy and Finance Minister, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.
Okonjo-Iweala had been awarded a Doctorate of Humane Letters on Monday, May 18, 2015 during Yale's Commencement ceremony in New Haven, Connecticut, alongside eight others.
The petition, which is being hosted on Change.org, the world's largest petition platform, was started by a Nigerian resident in the United States, one Sunday Iwalaiye.
When THISDAY visited the web page, it was discovered that 453 more petitions were needed to reach 2,500, which will probably prompt the organisation to consider the petition worthy of consideration.
When the petitioner kicked off the movement, the signatures had trickled in by the seconds but they have since leaped to over 2,000, with more probably on the way.
Tagged “Yale University gave its prestigious honorary doctorate degree to an undeserving Nigerian,” the petition reads in part: "There is no tangible evidence of any economic development in Nigeria under the leadership of Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala (sic) in all reality.

someone has a first degree form Harvard and a PhD from MIT, two great schools in the world. Taking away the honorary degree doesn't remove anything from her achievements.

The test is done by International Organisation for Migration (IOM), Abuja or Lagos. For Lagos, their office address is 5D Reverend Ogunbiyi Street (1st Gate), off Oba Akinjobi Way, GRA, Ikeja. To book for the test and make other inquiries, you have to call them on any of these numbers: 08072191112, 08022264059 or 09092156079. Hope this helps.

As regards how it ended, i don't know what to say. What i know is that those who got it have since resumed in their respective schools. Though not all. The disaster that wiped out the data on nairaland won't allow you guys to see how it eventually ended.

Forget about the oxford thing unless your tuition fee is not more than 20,000 pounds. That is the highest NITDA will pay for your tuition. And as regards the maintenance allowance, think NITDA has the best in the country so far. it is 10,200 pounds per year.

chivitech: That is very true my friend. I know this is not NITDA scholarship thread. But I am quite fortunate to be among the successful NITDA shortlisted candidate. My question is this, do you know the exact amount NITDA offers? cos if it is higher than NDDC, I want to forget about NDDC and try to give others a chance while I pursue Oxford. thanks

What dis wud mean is that they'd have looked for any of those sklz dat matched her qualifications and secure her a place in dat skl (plz correct me if I'm wrong)

The areas of specialization have already been listed. You are to apply for admission as well. NUC only went to the schools to tell them you will be applying and that they should consider your application favourably.

There is no way someone that scored that high would have missed it . What i can only say about last year's selection is that, some peeps scored high with good WAEC result but applied for irrelevant courses. For example, know of a girl who studied either geograghy or a related course, got 71 in the exam with excellent WAEC result but missed out.

While you are busying waiting for who to spoonfeed you, sharp guys have sent personal messages to successful/experienced scholars. Besides, there is no big deal, everything that happened last year is on this thread if you have any specific question you can raise it here. Nobody adviced the Maiden scholars on what to read, yet their performance was awesome. As it is peculiar to First class students to hoard useful information, am not surprised the thread is dull. Its after the test you will see people here asking for test scores. SMH

Secure the scholarship first before applying to UCL dont forget you have to pay admission fee in UCL. Am sure you don't wanna waste your money

This guys can be unpredictable. I actually applied for student visa last week tuesday at lekki. 2 of my friends who applied that same day in abuja got an sms yesterday that their passport is ready while mine is still showing under processing.
