The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Mr. Peter Obi, has asked the Nigerian electorate not to vote for any of the presidential candidates speaking through proxies. Recall that at the Nigerian Bar Association Annual General Conference (NBA-AGC) in Lagos last Monday where most of the leading presidential candidates unveiled their programmes for 2023 to Nigerians, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Bola Tinubu, was conspicuously absent. He was, however, represented by his running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima. But in a statement on Saturday, Obi said anyone who wants to be president of Nigeria must come forward himself and speak to the people directly because he is the one to be held responsible for whatever happens to Nigeria under his care. In responding to his ascription as a trader by some of his opponents, Obi said even as a trader, he was privileged to go to some of the best schools like Oxford University Cambridge University and other Ivy League institutions in the world. Addressing Nigerians who came to welcome him in Frankfurt, Germany on Friday, Obi said that every candidate must come and tell Nigerians his agenda to make the country work. He urged the electorate to do background checks on all the presidential candidates before listening to whatever promises they make. He said: “When you listen to us, go and check our background, this is not a time for somebody to show us his qualifications, I live in Nigeria and I know Nigeria and what Nigerians need. I am not a stranger to Nigerian problems. “I am a trader but I have the privilege to go to some of the best of schools like Oxford, Cambridge, and other Ivy League institutions, but I always say to people that educational qualification is not the same as integrity. Listen to all the presidential candidates, not through proxy. Let anyone who wants to be your President come forward himself and speak to you directly, because he is the one you will hold responsible for whatever happens to Nigeria under his care. “This campaign is not a campaign you are going to speak through somebody, that person needs to come and directly tell us what he is going to do for our country and we must take note of whatever he says and hold him by his words.” “We also don’t want someone that would be carried to this place in a wheelchair but must consider his capacity, competence, integrity and commitment. https://www.arise.tv/peter-obi-to-nigerians-dont-vote-for-presidential-candidates-who-speak-through-proxies/amp/ |
Odds Against Atiku, Tinubu, Obi *Ex-Lag gov's victory will lead to 24 years of Muslim Presidency. *PDP flag bearer, extension of Fulani dominance *LP candidate swims against established forces https://www.nairaland.com/7304091/2023-odds-against-atiku-tinubu |
*Ex-Lag gov's victory will lead to 24 years of Muslim Presidency. *PDP flag bearer, extension of Fulani dominance *LP candidate swims against established forces Another dimension was introduced into the current presidential race over the weekend as some politicians examined the odds against the three major candidates, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP); Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, (APC), and Peter Obi of the Labour Party, (LP). For starters, though they argued that electing the APC candidate in 2023 would produce a remarkable economic turnaround in the country currently at the verge or recession, the election of Tinubu might mean a Muslim occupation of Aso Rock for 24 straight years. If he wins, he is expected to hand over to a northerner after his tenure, which may be a muslim again. “Should President Muhammadu Buhari, after his eight years be succeeded by Tinubu, who would take a second term after his tenure, the North would thereafter field a Muslim/Northern candidate thereby giving the reins of power to another Muslim. That is making it 24 straight years of Muslim leadership of the country. “I’m even disturbed now that the outgoing President is a Muslim, just like the chairman of the party, Abdu- lahi Adamu and they have added icing of the cake with both the presidential candidate of the APC and his running mate, Kashim Shettima as Muslims,” a senator, who chose not to be named said. The politicians, who included a serving senator and a member of the National Working Committee of one of the parties, argued that the story would be a little better with Atiku Abubakar, also a Northern Fulani, who would get eight years or at least four years, if he goes for one term, but may hand over to a Christian Southerner. On the candidacy of the Labour Party, (LP), Mr. Peter Obi, the politicians stated that though he did not possess the huge political antecedents, structures, wealth and pedigree of Atiku and Tinubu, his amorphous status and cult followership would spring surprises in 2023 elections. “But Obi is a viable option too, being a Christian and his emergence will break both the Muslim dominance and the South-East question. Besides, his global exposure, education, mystery of the economy, relative and comparatively youthful age puts him across as a breath of fresh air, ” one of the sources said. The NWC member mentioned earlier stated that while he would refrain from intelligent guesses, a straight 24-year of Muslims as president in Nigeria would shows “crass insensitivity to the diversity of the country, a diversity of colonialisation, which Nigeria is yet to overcome. It could mean the party is toying with the unity of the country.” According to him, by the current action, the APC has refused to know Nigeria and has not shown any intention to know it. “Nigerians will express their resentment for the party’s action and its implication on our democracy and unity in the 2023 election. Nigerians will vote right and make a choice based on the odds. “Ordinarily, APC’s choice based on political expediencies and the talk about competence would not have posed a problem, but the party’s insensitivity will fail it in the 2023 elections. Its immaturity, insensitivity and taking Nigerians for granted put the odds against them,” he said. On the side of Obi, a member of the PDP, Asim Adams, recently said that the LP candidate is the biggest threat to the party, who, according to him, has an “amoebic form,”, who though not a politicians per se, but has become a movement in Nigeria that if the nation was not careful, might be a dark horse that will upturn and upstage the apple cart in the 2023 elections. Asim, who compared Obi with Barack Obama, who was not given a chance prior to his emergence as US president in 2009, said: “Peter Obi has become a consciousness. A lot of people think, eat, sleep, walk Peter Obi. Something is coming up in 2023, which will define the political mantra and equation in Nigeria. It is going to be like a revolution. “If the kind of erosion and consciousness, voltage and energy we see on the streets and social media are translated in to voting in 2023, I don’t think any of these old candidates will stand Peter Obi” he said. https://www.newtelegraphng.com/2023-odds-against-atiku-tinubu-obi/ |

The Pan Niger Delta Forum being championed by a First Republic Federal Information Commissioner, Chief Edwin Clark, has warned Northern youths against provoking a crisis in the Niger Delta region, with unnecessary and misguided statements. The warning came barely 48 hours after a coalition of Northern youths, under the aegis of Amalgamated Arewa Youth Groups, demanded the termination of a pipeline surveillance contract awarded to a repentant Niger Delta militant, Government Ekpemupolo (popularly known as Tompolo) during a protest at the headquarters of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation in Abuja. But PANDEF, in a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Ken Robinson, in Abuja on Wednesday, warned that the threat by AAYGs was capable of sparking severe consequences in the Niger Delta region. Robinson said, “PANDEF cautions that the reported threat by the so-called Amalgamated Arewa Youth Groups to paralyse activities at NNPC headquarters, if the said contract awarded to Government Ekpemupolo was not revoked is not only absurd and delusional but capable of sparking severe consequences in the Niger Delta region. “We are sending a serious warning to those misguided Arewa youths and their sponsors. Let it be known to them that the Niger Delta people will not tolerate such absurdity. “PANDEF advises the Federal Government and the management of the titular NNPC Limited, to ignore the shenanigans of the purported Arewa youth groups. The Niger Delta should not be provoked any further! “Tompolo, and indeed any other capable son or daughter of the Niger Delta, for that matter, has the right to be awarded any contract by, any agency or company, of the Federal Government, more so the NNPC, whose core operations are carried out mainly in the Niger Delta region. “Nigeria is reportedly losing billions of Naira daily through organised, outrageous crude theft by criminals and corrupt officials; it, thus, won’t be inapposite to infer that the so-called Amalgamated Arewa Youth Groups were mobilised by the ‘organised oil thieves’ to impede the renewed efforts of NNPC limited, to mitigate the stealing of our crude oil, and also, safeguard the nation’s oil and gas assets.” https://punchng.com/pipeline-contract-pandef-backs-tompolo-warns-arewa-youths/

The South-East elders and key political actors have intensified consultation with prominent religious and traditional rulers to concretise their plan for Igbo presidency in 2023. Among those they being reached out to are the Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar. The Secretary General of Igbo Elders Consultative Forum, Prof. Charles Nwekeaku, said this in an interview with Sunday PUNCH. According to him, having been betrayed by the Peoples Democratic Party, Igbo have seen another route to the 2023 presidency through the presidential candidate of Labour Party, Peter Obi, who he said, had received the backing of northerners. He said, “You must have read where (Ango) Abdullahi, Chairman of the Northern Elders Forum, said that they were not accepting the All Progressives Party and the PDP. You must have read that. “We’ve reached out to them; we’re still talking with them. We’ve visited Sultan of Sokoto. I was even a member of the delegation that met him. So, I’m talking authoritatively. “Every person goes to market, and the market is not favourable to an average Nigerian today, every person is suffering. “Every Nigerian, an average progressive minded Nigerian today, wants a change. That change is in favour of Peter Obi of the Labour Party. So Igbo Elders Consultative Forum is working hard, in reaching out, not because Obi is an Igbo. “We’ve examined them, and he’s ahead of others, in terms of a change, a change of the narrative. All other people, mention any of them, they have been in government; what did they do? They are part of the problem we have today.” He also said that the security challenges in the South-East allegedly perpetrated by the Indigenous People of Biafra were not peculiar to Igbo states. Nwekeaku said, “Insecurity is not peculiar to the South-East. You can imagine that presidential convoy was attacked by bandits, and no person has been able to apprehend those bandits till today. “You can see that in some parts of Niger State, the terrorists have hoisted their flags there, and no person has been able to arrest and detain them, or suppress or neutralise them. “Go to Katsina State, many parts of Katsina are being taken over by the bandits. So, the South-East is not an exception. But we are also making sure that peace returns. You remember at the eve of Anambra State election, it was rumoured that there will be no election, that the IPOB and other youth organisations have threatened. “But eventually, by the time we engaged them, there was election. So, in the South-East, there will be election by the special grace of God.” https://punchng.com/igbo-elders-begin-consultation-meet-sultan-others/

This people should always speak for themselves and leave Hausa out of their headache. At least the Zamfara BBC documentary was an eye opener. The Fulani have done alot of damage to the Hausa race, killing & maiming them everyday in the their land. Fulani allow Hausas to breathe for once, they've suffered enough in your hands. Miyetti Allah is an umbrella body of Fulani, Hausas can speak for themselves. |
