TDonald: Lol, for a team who has won the league twice in the past four seasons. A team who has dominated English football in the last decade..... Think properly Bro, stop being an arsenal fan LMAO, you really think those successes are what will attract a new investor? The domination you talk about came at a price. Roman injected his money into the team and that was in form of loans, he'll demand repayment if he sells. It is estimated that he spent over 1.1 billion pounds in that period. Presently Chelsea is valued at over 1.2 billion pounds. Now any investor coming in will pay up Roman's loan (1.1 BIL pounds) and the value of the club (1.2 BIL pounds). That's 2.3 BIL pounds. How many billionaires out there will be willing to do that. Makes more sense for a money man to buy up a smaller club for a couple of hundreds of millions of pounds and inject a couple more on players. That's what Roman did with Chelsea back in 2003. |

dominique: And he is relocating to Israel too. Also abruptly halted the construction of a new stadium. Could this be the beginning of the end of Chelsea? This is what happens when you doped your way to success. Sooner or later reality will hit you and you'll come down crashing. Chelsea has been like an athlete on drugs (Abrahamovich's money), without that drugs they are nothing and I'm really gonna enjoy seeing them crash like a pack of cards |

Football has witnessed some great players but not one of these great players simultaneously dominate the goal and assist stats. They tend to always have some specialty. Just yesterday Wenger told Beinsports how Madrid had contacted him several times.
Then today, Zidane suddenly resigns. That's during his peak Arsenal years I think. I doubt they'd be interested in him now. But who knows.. |

Nihilstjnr: Because you're talking rubbish.
You might as well post Xavi or Iniesta's numbers which are similar and claim jay jay is a legend because of that. No sir, the initial comment I responded to talked about lack of end products to go with Okocha's show boating and I posted two screenshots to show his end products were not as terrible as they are being made out to be and are in fact statistically comparable to a great (Okocha 0.16 Vs Zidane 0.18, which is just about 1 goal every 5-6 games). I'm not in anyway implying Okocha was as good as Zidane, I was just pointing that his end products are just about normal for his position. |

Unlimited22: Good God. There's a thread on the front page about Okocha being in the FIFA Legends team to play Russian Legends. Just open it and see how the Nigerian mentality of celebrating showboating ahead of efficiency has killed us. Jesus. But you are the one who isn't really truthful. Okocha wasn't just show boating. He had decent end products as his goals and assists stats show. Below screenshots show his goals return (goals per game) isn't that far off from that of Zidane ( same position as Okocha and seen, arguably, as the best 10 in history) Nigerians are well within their right to celebrate Okocha as a legend.

MoR2: The focus of Sarri's system, and what makes it work, is in that midfield band of three. Like Allegri's faux-diamond, the deepest midfielder is a deep-lying playmaker -- though Sarri doesn't quite use that player as a regista as Allegri does, but he also didn't have Andrea Pirlo -- with the two mids flanking him roaming box-to-box in something of an aggressive supporting role. (SERI)
The two box-to-box mids have to do a lot of work to help keep things ticking over, keep the formation in shape defensively, and support the attack as strongly as possible. Generally speaking, [b]one plays a little more defensively (KANTE), [b]and the other takes a slightly more attacking mindset (Piotr Zielinski), but both need to be well-versed and capable of playing a role at both ends of the pitch. They both will also tend to kick out a little bit wider in attack to help adjust for the formation's lack of width, but also need to come back inside and get back fast when possession changes, and start reading and reacting to the flow of play in a heartbeat.
Seri DM (Jorginho), Kante RCM (Allan), Piotr LCM (Hamsik). 1 deep-lying playmaker and 2 box to box.
Christensen is still a ball playing CB
Sarri is a coach in the purest form. Asked on arrival at Napoli who he would buy to improve a defence which had conceded more goals than anyone in Serie A’s top half, he explained that any issues would be corrected on the training pitch. Over the next two years, Napoli had the second best defensive record in the league, behind only Juventus. The perfect example is Kalidou Koulibaly, who was deemed by many as simply not good enough for Napoli; error-prone and lacking the ability to play Sarri’s fast-passing style. True to his word, Sarri and his team spent hours on the training ground instead of seeking a replacement, and the Senegalese defender is now one of the most impressive and in-demand centre-backs in Europe. I'm a huge fan of coaches like Sarri, coaches who strive to improve the players they have rather than throw a couple of 50 million pounds at problems (see Pep, Mourinho). I thought Conte was in the same mould (as Sarri) when he turned Moses from a mid table team reject to a title winning beast of a wing back, until he started moaning about not having enough funds to spend even though he was among the top three spenders in the league. |

Spy360: 1. Forget stats, while watching you know Mustafi is terrible at decision making. Again comparing him with Rudiger? Haba. Both are poo defenders na.
2. I dont know much about Sokratis, but whatever he should have to be an upgrade.
3. Wenger's defensive system is terrible. Emery's work begins from changing their defensive mentality. Boss, the poor decision making by mustafi leading to errors is what I think can be coached out of him. He was a good defender at Valencia, he hasn't just turned rubbish overnight. I compared him with Rudiger because he lost his German spot to him. Rudiger makes the 23 man list of Germany who are favorite to win the World Cup and you can not do that by being shiiit. He's a good enough yardstick. Notwithstanding, you'll be surprised that you would hardly find a defender with better numbers than Mustafi. He made the whoscored team of the Year last season. There is no way a shiiit player will get those numbers. I still stand on my earlier post. |

By and large, what Arsenal need the most is a top DM that can tackle, intercept and pass as well (A Fabinho ) to team up with Xhaka and Ramsey in a three-man midfield. There are few left though; Fred, Savic, Jorginho, all courted by clubs that are more appealing than Arsenal at the moment. Hopefully, Mislintat can unearth a gem somewhere. |

Statistically, Mustaphi isn't a terrible defender. As a matter of fact he's a top defender. The gung ho system at Arsenal during Wenger would have exposed even the best defenders in the world and make them look like Senderos. I genuinely believe that if Emery can get a top DM to protect the defence and coach out the errors in Mustafi, we'll see a different defender next season.
I also believe Sokratis is not really an upgrade on him and there aren't many upgrades out there. Sokratis is still welcome though.
