Happy sunday good people, Yesterday was my birthday and i was execeited cos i message from Naira land. Thank you all.

I have applied to U of Regina and i also want to apply to these schools and i have a question
Uni of Winnipeg - Diploma in HR
Seneca College - HR management certificate (graduate certificate)
Conestega college - HR Management ( Graduate certificate)

they all require a degree result and transcript for application. My questions are:
1 - Are they lower than a degree
2 - Assuming i get an admission to any of the schools and i deceide to apply visa, will i be rejected being that the course is below a degree.

I am 2005 gradute..Being working since 2008 in HR. 32yrs

Thank you all for your candid response
Happy belated birthday dear. I do not think those qualifications are below a degree, if they were, they won't be requesting for degree transcript. Remember that applications are different. Where's someone else may be denied based on 'purpose of visit' with such circumstance, another may not be denied. The answer I think lies in the strength of your SOP. Can you convince the VO beyond reasonable doubt that this qualification is what your career needs at this time?

Please must we do the ecg test at a private hospital or must it be a government hospital
Nd please what is the turn around time to get the result
This ecg test isn't a funny or sweet situation
Kinda tensed **
You mustn't do ECG. I don't know how the different consultants decide on what to test for. Here in PHC Prime Consultants didn't conduct any ECG for me. I paid 30k and had xray, physical examinations (height, weight, bp), urinalysis and blood tests ( on the lab request form I was given to pass on to the lab guys I saw HIV, VDRL). That's all! No vision test, no ECG.

So for those PMing me asking about the cost of living in Ottawa,
For house rent, keep about $500 per month but if you wanna live close to school, keep about $650-$750
I would actually suggest that two people get a bachelors of about $750 (a self con) and split the bills. The issue is once our Nigerian brothers and sisters get here, everybody be forming I want my privacy even when their pocket is drying up...privacy wey you no get for naija.

For food, personally when I was coming, I brought more foodstuff than clothes so I spend less than $50 per week since I cook my food, I dont drink and I dont smoke. Transport was already included in my tuition fee so I get free unlimited access to the bus to go anywhere within Ottawa.

The weather condition is shocked lipsrsealed but you will survive. The worst is yet to come because it gets to -35 degrees. For those coming to Uottawa, I would advise you dont buy winter jackets, gloves and all that in Naija cos the free store has more than enough plus theres value village which would probably give you at the same price you would have bought in Naija with all those greedy traders that want to milk you dry. You should buy your thermal wear from Naija though (just make sure you price it well because those people! shocked lipsrsealed) This would also save you the excess luggage. I got all my fall jackets and some winter jackets from the free store and saved the money I was gonna use to buy them before. (If you are a rich kid please ignore this part kiss kiss kiss). You could also get one or two winter jackets cos its gonna be cold when you are onboard the aircraft.

I think thats all. Any other questions should be on the thread biko unless its really personal so others can benefit.
Tips like these are invaluable. I've been wondering where to even get correct winter jackets in Naija since we no get winter. I was already perusing Amazon to buy and ship down cry spending from the kain low budget. I will be arriving in December (which I heard is the wicked winter period) and with my daughter too(I'm already weeping for the poor girl and the climate shock she'll get). Please who knows where one can get thermal wears around here and will also need one or two winter jackets.

Still looking for any female student-parent going to uOttawa to share a cosy apartment with or if you're single and won't mind a toddler's presence we can also share.

Hello my good people,

Greetings from Canada! grin

Please I need advise from those That used two sponsors in their visa applications. Do you have to merge your sponsors' documents and upload it or you just upload your main sponsor 's documents in the "proof of financial support" column and then, attach your co-sponsor documents to your LOE before uploading it?

I need this information to help a very close friend out.

Many thanks !
Provided the documents are speaking of funds, they should all be under proof of financial support.

Hello house, this page has been very helpful but i still need clarity on this issue:
I want to apply for a 1yr human resource management program in uni of winnipeg, i am married with a 2 year old kid, is it possible to go with hubby and kid? How much should we budget if possible. Is landed properties and extended families enough ties to Nigeria for us?
Thank you
Team12's posts will do justice to your questions. I followed her posts closely cos we both have toddlers we need to travel with. I patterned my application like hers, upront medicals, budget breakdowns to include kid and leaving hubby behind to join later. I got my TRV in 12work days of applying. Go read up...good luck!

pls, how do I go about upfront medical
Go through the previous pages especially part 8, you'll find details of the procedure for upfront medicals. Team12 simplified it so well, you won't miss anything.

Note to TRV hopefuls, if something is worth doing then it's worth your time and dedication. When you're advised to go through the previous pages of this thread, it's not like one wants to punish and make others suffer. If you're a prospective student, then searching and researching for information should be a part of you. No one wants to throw money away paying application and biometric fees only to be rejected or delayed because of a shoddy application. If time is not on your side, then let it go, target next admission session and put forward a quality and credible application before fasting and praying.

like seriously, some schools send hardcopy..Whateva happened to soft copies on student's account?
they send both hard copy by post and soft copy by mail attachment. If applying online then no need for the hard copy. Don't know if photocopies can be used for paper submission.

Hi guys, have a problem with the collection of my official admission letter @ uni of Ottawa. Dont know how to go about it n my visa application is getting late.
They should have sent a hard copy of your acceptance letter to your postal addy you indicated while applying to the school. If by any means that copy disappeared en-transit, you can write the academic assistant to print another original copy but this time you'll have to arrange for a courier agent to pick it up from the school and send to Naija for you. I did same and got it within a week. I'm also heading to uOttawa.

Please try understand the core courses before dropping. Some courses are offered in a particular calendar and once you drop it then you might have to wait till the next. Besides, would advise not to drop for now till you resume, understand the process, see if you could cope and if not there is a time limit to drop.
Ok noted! Thanks.

Are you schooling at uOttawa?

Good morning house. Please i need some advice.

@Khalesi, @thesoj, @montrealer @EmmaMsc and all,
Please as a graduate of french langauge (B.A 2005, 2.1, 3.77 GP) with over 7years professional experience in Human Resources, Apart from applying for an MBA or Masters in HR or Masters in French Language, Which other course or program can i apply to and Justify well in an SOP directly or indirectly using my language skills and professional skills.

Thank you for your advice.
I think you're good to go. Your portfolio is tight so your SOP's quality won't be a problem. I prefer HR anyday anytime and you can study in French as already said.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 9 by Khalesi: 8:31am On Oct 20, 2015
@thesoj, thanks for the detailed explanation. Yeah I'm aware I'll be paying fees for the summer session if I register to take courses therein. My program is charged a flat fee per session no matter the number of courses registered provided one remains within the limits min 6 credit unit - max 15credit units/session. I'll plan to limit my program to 3sessions. So I might take the summer break and finish by 2017 Winter. Fair enough, I'll go ahead and drop one course from my already registered four courses to see how I can cope with 3courses and an accompanying toddler. moreover, winter is coming grin

Two semesters. Summer is an optional semester.
Speaking of sessions, I need more advise.

From the little I know about Canadian academic structure,
Winter - January to April
Spring/Summer- May to August
Fall- September to December

I have registered for Winter session and plan to take courses for Summer and Fall. So when is my break supposed to be? And if you say summer semester is optional, what will someone be doing for the entire period of four months May-August?
My program requiresI take minimum 30credit load for completion, can I handle that in a year instead of 2yrs? Can taking more credit load within the shortest possible time reduce my tuition in any way (say, I'm capable to bear the load and still perform well)?

Guys please i need urgent response. Im trying to apply for study permit online. For medical examination upload, is it okay to skip that for now because the medical center told me they will only send my report directly to canadian embassy?
It's not the result you need to upload, it's just a document that says you've done your medicals. So if you want to do the upfront medicals, ask them for that document after your tests have been conducted and upload it before submitting your application. Note that for you to have a tab for the medical upload, you must have answered YES to the question not he questionnaire '. Have you been examined by a CIC medical assessor I. The last 12months?'

Pls I will like to know the exact figure for the annual tuition fee because it wasn't stated explicitly on my offer letter and on the
school site
Or is It that you have to add the tuition for winter($8000)+ Summer ($7500) to get the annual tuition
Or better still what figure did u input for your annual tuition fee while feeling the cic form.
Mine is $6942 just tuition for winter session. For one year I simply rounded up to 7000 and multiplied by three sessions(winter+summer+fall).

Wow..Thank you dearie for the tips. I will be buzzing you often...lol...hope you dont mind...Meanwhile, how do you register the baby in sch wen u r not yet physically there?...kisses to the little one
You welcome. To register a child to attend a government licensed day care, you find the website of the province you intend to study at, create an account in your child's name and register. Since I'm still in Naija, I used my school/faculty address. Then from that portal you'll be presented with a list of child care centers very close to your institution. You can then click apply on the ones that appeal to you. When a slot becomes available you'll be contacted.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 9 by Khalesi: 5:44am On Oct 18, 2015
Yes no statement of purpose but your CV is requested as well as letters of recommendation. Cocolav is right they don't just look at CGPA. With my 4.18, I've had 5years field engineering experience and with one good letter of recommendation from my undergraduate supervisor and another recommendation from my supervisor at work. It's a total package. So just seek areas where your strength lies and portray on your CV.

hayqinsbFX:
thanks cocolav.....
i'm not even thinking of a research masters, that way i wont require a professor or funding. I hope it
makes it less competitive to get admission.

the thing is most MENG don't request for statement of purpose (atleast for uottawa). How else can i sell myself.

I would just apply for the admission sha and see what happens.

Also can someone help us all intending online applicant the fields available to upload, this will help us to know documents to prepare. I heard someone said no field for emploment history, CV/resume, upfront medicals...

Kindly tell us the fields available so we know if we can attached some document along with other document when uploading document to other field.

Thanks
I'll advise that you shouldn't base your application on hearsay. Create your CIC account, build your profile and answer the questionnaire to see what forms and fields that will be populated, then you can know how to group related documents in a field. Don't worry if you change your mind about any upload you can always remove the file and reattach. They're all editable (even the questionnaire) until you submit and make payment. I strongly recommend you go through parts 6-9 (if you don't have the time you can skim for info that pertains to you). There's good information on this thread. After reading and you still have grey areas, then you can revert here for clarification.

Yihaaaaaaa...Congrats dearieee....Thank God....Please share all what you did and how you applied for you and your toddler. I contacted a well know agent for this and they told me its not possible to go with my child which will be 2yrs by bext year. Yet i come here and i hear testimonies so i know its possible. Please let me /us know how to go about it. Congratilations again sis.
Thanks Chigoziri. My girl will also be turning 2 next year. When you're ready to apply, while filling the initial questionnaire, you'll need to state that your child will accompany you, that you will pay for her application charges, that you'll fill her forms on her behalf and the application will generate all the forms you both need for the app. Your child's status will be as a visitor.

The first thing to do once you decide which province you'll be schooling at is to register your baby on the central wait list for licensed child care (that's if you'll be needing a day care). The queue is usually very long and sometimes it takes up to a year before it gets to your turn. I didn't do that and now I'll have to make do with alternate means.
