Christianity EtcRe: How Do You Get To Heaven? by kieryn(f): 5:18am On Apr 07, 2011
u climb the stairway to heaven until u meet Saint Peter at the pearl white gate. He will open a book and judge you on your past deeds. If you led a good life you get to enter through the gate. And after doing several good deeds for people on earth you finally get your wing and live happily forever in a land flowing with milk and honey. If u led a bad life you will burn forever and forever in hell, and never char.

FoodRe: Potatoes: What Can You Do With Them? by kieryn(f): 6:24pm On Jan 15, 2011
Chop them up and fry them. Add sausage and you can eat for breakfast.

Put it in the oven and bake it. Wrap it in aluminum foil and cook in the oven for an hour. When it is soft open it up and add your topping. Like meat, cheese, butter, etc,

FYI: Any potato is good for mash potatoes. Just peel it if you do not like the skin I usually peel mines after i boil them makes em easier. Boil it than mash it add milk, butter, and salt. You can also add garlic and chives or cheese depending on your preference.

CultureRe: How Do You Measure My Nigerian-ness ? by kieryn(f): 7:01pm On Nov 21, 2010
What makes a true Nigerian?

Born on the soil of Nigeria
Speak an Nigerian language
Embrace the culture
Interact with Nigerians freely

,

I don't know! I was born and raised in the states all my life. I embrace my culture fully without hesitations. But Nigeria-born people in the states will never see you as a true Nigerian, especially if you don't speak the language or have never been home. They complain about wishing they raised their children back home because their children now have this akata mentality. Then get mad when you tell them that you are from the states because that is where you were born. Yet back home Nigerians put western influences on a pedestal whereas not speaking proper English you are considered village like or uneducated. (that a story for another time) At the end of the day both of my parents are Nigerian so technically speaking I am a true Nigerian from my head to the tip of my toes. I learn to accept my position as between two culture instead of trying to fit perfectly into one. If anyone wants to bring wahala, I just just smile because they simply wasting their breathe I heard it all and been there before.
FamilyStepdads And Stepmoms: How Do You Addresses Them? by kieryn(op): 12:49am On Nov 09, 2010
My good friend addresses his step father as Mazi Obi or Obi. He says he has a father in his life and there need to give that title to anyone. Beside calling him "Uncle" would be weird since his mom is married to him.

For those of you that have step-dads and step-moms what name do you call them?

CultureRe: American Bad Habits by kieryn(f): 10:28pm On Oct 24, 2010
Personally i think Nigerians who try to imitate American bad habit over exaggerate it. They overuse the N-word, and cuss words. The problem is they watch too much music video and come up with an exaggerated version of an American. Just watch Nollywood version of an American in the movie Royal Pains or any Nollywood movie that has a character from America. American bad habits are very disrespectful no doubt, but when Nigerian imitate them it just down right stupidity, makes you want to slap someone. Frankly, it very annoying.
FamilyRe: Hated For Not Having A Male Child: What Will You Do? by kieryn(f): 10:06pm On Oct 24, 2010
Nothing. What is there to do? For the sake of my sanity I will not be popping out babies, that I know I don't want or have the resources to provide for them, just for the sake of producing a boy. Yeah, all men desire a boy just for the sake of saying that have someone that looks like them. But at the end of day a healthy, thriving child should be most desired even if it's not a boy.

FashionRe: ***Hair For African Women*** by kieryn(f): 9:45pm On Oct 24, 2010
I have been natural for about five years. When I was transitioning I braided my hair until all the relaxer came out. It has been nothing but trails and tribulations. My hair is shoulder length and very coarse and curly. So coarse and curly that when I wash it shrinks half its length. On the other hand, i would say my hair is a lot healthier but i just don't know what to do with. I am also the kind of person that doesn't like to do hair. I wish my hair was effortless. Tried twisting it but doesn't fit my face. When I unravel it it was so beautiful, but the style only lasted a day. So the only styles options I have is braiding. I occasionally press it to straighten it but bc heat and humidity the style doesn't last long. I recently had my first sew-in, love it. It gave my hair a chance to rest and think it will be my new choice of hair style. As far as cutting my hair, I don't think so. You got to have the face to rock a very short cut and i just don't have it.
FashionRe: Daily Beauty Rotuine by kieryn(f): 9:43pm On Oct 22, 2010
Na me, well,

In the morning
I brush w crest toothpaste, floss, mouthwash. Throw my clothes in the dryer because I hate ironing, shower w dove or tone soap and I used the sponges that are made out of straw, hay whatever you call it. It cleans very well, but use it every two day cause it will scrub you skin shiny well well. Wash my face with same soap. Rarely wash my hair at home. It very coarse and only wash it every two to three weeks. Or longer when I have braids. But I go to the salon to take care of that. Get lotionized usually mixing several lotions together (cocoa butter mixed w vaseline and some other lotion). Take clothes out of the dryer get dress, do my hair, makeup, breakfast.

In the afternoon
If I do decide to shower I used black soap or soap with chamomile or lavender so I can fall asleep. Face get the same treatment. On Friday I shave, my legs, underarm, etc, I recently stared using this shower oil by Olay amazing no need for lotion. Put deodorant on. Brush, floss, and mouthwash. There no need to put on again in the morning because it absorbs, but I do it anyway. Wrap hair if pressed out or throw a cap over it if it not. Drink 2 liter of water and a cup of bournvita, I don't sleep well so this helps. Prayers, sleep.
