There is certainly a big difference between those who are only world class players and those who are both world class players and technically gifted players.

The Colombian hardly starts for Atlanta but when he plays and when he is on his game, he is certainly a joy to watch in Seria A, even during his time with sevilla.

Very few players who are Technically gifted players go to the EPL because the intensity does not always suit their game style, thats why most of them prefer plying their trade in Spain and Italy.

That notwithstanding, we certainly had some great english players back then who could hold their own against any opponent.

They might not have been techinically gifted or too skillfull but they always got the job done.

Steven Gerrad, Wayne Rooney , Frank Lampard, and John Terry always comes to mind, they are truly legends of the game to their Clubs.

Also, not everyone watches the Spanish la liga or Seria A regularly.

Over the years most english teams would have wanted more english players in their team, but that is not always the case, as some of these youngsters when they try coming through they are deemed not good enough.
