How a loan app wiped out my account and left me broke

See me see trouble o! one loan app in this country, (I will not mention their name yet) has wiped my entire life savings and they have left me dead broke. Around early February this year my friend told me about a business that i can invest in and get good profit by the end of the year. Usual na, I got excited about the project and I had to make sure I hustle the money anyway, anyhow; that was how I remember that I saw one advert on facebook, so I went to the Facebook page and I copied the WhatsApp number from the page. Naso it start o! they asked me to register, write my mothers name, my office even collect my BVN and card details join!! Haba! I should have known.

I took the loan even with the high interest because I didn't have a choice and guy man gats make sweet cash. The 1st instalment i paid, 2nd instalment i delayed for 2 days...honestly no be my fault i even tried reaching out to them for small time more but no one answered. That's how the 3rd instalment came these loan app cleared all my account o! They removed all the money in my account claiming they couldn't be patient anymore! I've called & called but they didn't answer me! Next thing their representatives dey insult me!

Guys, I want to know what to do o! Is this how all loan apps do? they will shame you and suck your account dry? Abeg people talk o! what can I do?

Which decent loan apps can one use in the future?

1. FairMoney
2. Carbon
3. RenMoney

Which off these three is recommended abeg?

Science/Technology / Re: 3 Nigerian Startups To Watch Out For Come 2022 by kingcolearchive: 1:48pm On Dec 07, 2021
Number 4: Fairmoney grin grin especially now that they have gone fully digital
Amaka360:
3 Nigerian startups to watch out for come 2022

The list of Nigerian startups to watch out for in 2022 (and possibly this decade). It comprises.

1. Eden
Eden is a concierge service for homes. Not a typical tech startup, but it's "a tech-enabled, human-powered service that takes over the running of your home so you can focus on the things that truly matter in life."
In short, as one techpreneur told me, "Eden is the affordable Quintessentially made for Africans, by Africans."
Eden was co-founded in 2019 by a co-founder of Andela—Nadayar Enegesi (CEO), and two of his other former Andela colleagues—Prosper
Otemuyiwa (CTO) and Silm Momoh (Product Lead).

2. Sit.ng
Sit.ng is an e-learning platform that offers digital skills training on Web Development, Graphics Design, Digital Marketing, Mobile Application Development, Data Science, Machine Learning, Cyber Security, Android Application Development, IOS Application Development, etc.
Sit.ng will be officially launched in January 2022. Sit.ng have so many features aside being an e-learning platform. Sit.ng scholarship and loan features will immeasurably help students across the country.

3. uLesson
When a serial entrepreneur like Sim Shagaya, founder of DealDey and Konga, launches a new venture, the techosystem would definitely be watching out for it.
Set to be officially launched in February 2020, uLesson had secured $3.1 million (₦1.1 billion) seed funding from TLcom Capital last year November.

uLesson platform would allow learners, mostly secondary school students, to experience personalized learning, take mock tests, and assess their performance and learning progress with uLesson detailed analysis dashboard.
The Jos-based startup is the pageant everyone is checking out in the edtech sector. Not only because Sim is the chaperone, but also because of its model.

Business / Re: A Loan App Is Threatening Me! Help! by kingcolearchive: 9:09am On Nov 30, 2021
I think FairMoney comes first, then we can talk about others.
Chiffy:
CARBON still remains the best, then Fairmoney.

Sokoloan - 9credit, xcredit, lcredit, all are managed by the devil and his sons
Business / Re: A Loan App Is Threatening Me! Help! by kingcolearchive: 9:08am On Nov 30, 2021
Brooo thank God i tried the fair money app. The service they render is actually top-notch. i will choose them over others
valnelly:
Any way you look at it. Borrowing from loan apps is a bad choice. I don see pepper from those people hand.
Gocash, 9credit, Sokoloan and others will make you want to kill yourself by yourself.
Only Carbon, Quickcheck, Aella Credit, and Fairmoney are the ones with small human sympathy. But all the same, stay away from borrowing online, borrow from your workplace, family friends and close associates..

Nairaland / General / Re: Humongous Loan Apps Interest Rates by kingcolearchive: 6:10pm On Nov 29, 2021
As much as i would have loved to agree with you, I still think you are wrong, FairMoney interest rate is one of the best out there.
chaseblack:
Although I agree that an agreement is an agreement but I think loan apps are taking advantage of Nigerians.

The interest rate these apps fix on loans are absurd and sometimes I don't blame people for default.

What is more annoying is that when you apply to invest in that same company ,they offer peanuts as interests.

For instance, one loan app has an overinflated interest rate of 30% for borrowers but if you are an investor, you will be offered a paltry rate of 1.5-3 %. That's criminal!

To make it clearer, if you borrow 20000 you'll be required to pay back #28,000 - #30,000, which means an interest of #8000-#10000 for just 30 days.

But personal findings reveal that if you try to invest #20,000 in that same loan app, you will get an interest of just #150 - #250 after a month.

This is absurd, I have tried investing #40000 in these loan apps several times and all I received was #150 after 40 days. Just imagine!

I tried another one by investing #60000 for 80 days and all I got was a paltry sum of #2300 .

And the last term time I checked the loan app, you will be required to pay #4500 on a loan of #15000 after just 30 days.

That is greediness and the government needs to look into this and find a way to regulate the interest of online loan lenders.

Failure to do these will continue to increase the no of loan defaulters as these loan interest are outrageous.

Business / Re: I Will Be Disgraced In The Next 48 Hours by kingcolearchive: 6:04pm On Nov 29, 2021
I always hate it when i hear stories like this. I was just telling somebody in one thread about how FairMoney was there for me when I needed them most. I pray you are able to sort yourself
Number2:
I'm a student and things has been bad for avery long time. I've been under intense pressure for months now

I borrowed money from loan apps. I didn't borrow the money to by clothes or anything. I borrowed it to feed. The money has been due for quite sometimes now. What I have been doing is to borrow from one loan app to offset the debt on another. Just to buy me more time. Now there's no loan app that can borrow me money again.

In 48 hours the loan will be due and when it's due, they'll spread my name to all my contacts as a criminal.

I'm stuck. I don't even have a penny to pay back.

I'm putting this out here maybe a good samaritan will help me out.

Because this whole thing is driving me crazy.

I can prove everything.

PS: The total money I'm owing is over 100k.

Celebrities / Re: Fairmoney Microfinance Bank Unveils Toyin Abraham As New Brand Ambassador by kingcolearchive: 2:47pm On Nov 27, 2021
The same Fairmoney that raised $42 million Series B, and also got banking licence is who you’re calling Fraudulent do you think they will get this far if they are what you’re painting them to be. Do your findings boss FairMoney is not the cause of your problem
babaolofin:

Fairmoney online loan organization is a Fraudulent organization. Fraud . Fraud. Fraud. Fraud everywhere defrauding innocent Nigerians .

If Fairmoney MFB is the same organization operating as a Loan Shark with Fairmoney loan application, then the organization is a fraudulent organization. A lot of Nigerians on the Fairmoney mobile application have been confused, misled and defrauded.

Though I spoke with few people at Abuja about how Fairmoney confused, misled and defrauded Nigerians and I believed a lot of Nigerians are still going to be defrauded.

NFIU, SFU and NITDA are supposed to put them on monitoring list this is in addition to Intelligence agencies.

Seun Osewa, seunmsg and other compatriots should save Nigerians , especially Nigerian Youths from fraudulent operations by scammers and fraudulent Fairmoney staff.

Using Toyin Aimaku as brand ambassador does not change anything. Fairmoney management cannot pretend they are not aware of how Nigerians are being defrauded by fraudulent staff and various insiders deal .

Fairmoney my foot.
