“These will be followed by the Governorship, State and Areas, State Assembly and Area Council elections in the Federal Capital Territory on 2nd March 2019”.

The INEC boss also maintained that, about 3,630,529 new voters had been registered, while the exercise will continue until 60 days to the general elections in 2019 lamenting that, the management and the low rate of the Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) collection.

He used the occasion to state that, about 67 political parties are indicating interest to contest in the 2019 general elections, while the commission had received more than 120 applications from political associations seeking registration as political parties.

Earlier, the Akwa Ibom State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mr. Mike Igini expressed the hope that, decisions reach at the retreat would act as a road map to for free, fair and credible elections in 2019.

The Country Director of UNDP, Dr Samuel Bwalya who was represented by the Team Leader, Governance and Peace Building, Mr. Kehinde Bolaji described INEC as a pace-setter in elections management in West African sub region, urged the commission to address the issues of violence, internal democracy, accountability and transparency within the political institutions.

Politics / Atiku Abubakar Dumps APC, Returns To PDP To Get Presidential Ticket. by kingjizzy2(m): 7:39am On Nov 23, 2017
Ex-vice president, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, will tomorrow register at his Jada 1 ward in Adamawa State, to begin his formal return to his former party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

This is expected to be followed with a formal defection on December 6, ahead of the party’s December 9 national convention, where he is also expected to be physically present.

We also gathered exclusively that all formal arrangements had long been made to make his return to his former party seamless.

Part of the arrangements, it was learnt, was to hand the party machinery in the state over to his loyalists.

“And from the outcome of the congress we held about two weeks ago or so to elect state party officials, his men emerged the new party leaders in the state. If you recall, Dr. Ardo, a very strong member of the party in the state, protested what he termed ‘connivance’ of the national secretariat with Atiku to make his (Atiku) men take over the party in the state. He made a lot of noise in the media over the issue. But did you hear anything?” one of sources in Adamawa queried.

Atiku’s return to the PDP is a confirmation of Daily Sun’s report of November 14, where it reported among others things that plans were on by the PDP to woo top All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftains to its fold, as part of its strategies to sack the APC from the cenre in 2019.

Although Daily Sun could not readily ascertain if Atiku got any assurance from the party that he was going to get the party’s presidential ticket, handing him the party structure in the state was Atiku’s own way of ensuring that the events of January 2011 and December 2014 respectively, does not repeat itself, another source volunteered.

Daily Sun recalls that in 2011, Atiku as a northern consensus candidate was not only defeated by Goodluck Jonathan in the PDP presidential primary election, he also lost all the delegates from Adamawa State to Jonathan.

Also in 2014, Atiku again lost Adamawa State delegates to President Muhammadu Buhari in the APC presidential primary, coming a distant third after Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, then Kano State governor.

Daily Sun further gathered that with Atiku’s formal return to the PDP, the dynamics within the ruling APC is also expected to change, as most of his loyalists currently in government and in the party are expected to join him in PDP in the days ahead.

Already, current Women Affairs Minister, Senator Aisha Alhasssan had long given Buhari notice that she would be backing Atiku in 2019. She is one of those expected to return to the PDP.

Also, Adamawa State governor, Senator Jibrilla Bindow, whose influence within the APC in the state has been effectively neutralised by both the Murtala Nyako and Buhari groups is expected to join Atiku too in the PDP in the months ahead.

But, a Deputy Director in the Atiku Media Office, Mr. Sola Sanni has dismissed the former vice president’s return to the PDP.

He told Daily Sun the story is just “the imagination of those concocting the story. This is not the first time we will hear of such stories. It’s simply not correct.”

Regardless, Adamawa PDP members are already agog in anticipation of Atiku’ s return to the party.

Although none of the party officials were unwilling to be quoted when contacted yesterday, the state PDP chairman, Ahmed Tahir Shehu told Daily Sun that they would be happy to see the former vice president return to the PDP.

“We have been mounting pressures on him (Atiku); we have sent delegations to him on a number of times, pleading with him to return.

So, we will be happy to have him back,” Shehu said.

Education / Students Plans To Boycott Sug Election In Anambra State by kingjizzy2(m): 4:28pm On Nov 22, 2017
Live updates from Nwafor Orizu College Of Education Students view.

Good morning beautiful people. Is another election time in Nocen when we choose those who pilot the affairs of the students Union for the next one year.

I want to talk small, base on the past experience which is what am using on my write up. Nocen administrative board will never allow intimidation from any students Union. You must be under them on all things have it in mind.

They choose who they want to be in the post. And most times some official who are made to be neutral get involved in it too due to sentiment. They projects someone who lack the leadership principle and understanding.

Last year i was a contestant i was happy with the out come in one way because i know i won the election in my hearts and in the hearts of the students but what happen in last minutes will be a case for God not man. Someone manipulated it which i later found out.

Now my friends let vote wisely in this election
In the last few years we have been making mistake. Is either the schools removed the right people and put statue for us or we end up electing someone who cannot even defend himself talk more of entire schools. So!!!!

This time is now. Vote wisely.

I will be blunt. If as an artiste you are sharper in thought and idea processing, than your artiste manager, what you have is an Ordinary Assistant. Your artiste manager should be light years ahead of your goals. He or she should be the person who gives your ideas wings. The person who makes things happen. The person who smells out opportunities. The person who realigns your career anytime it seems like it is derailing. Many artistes just have employees who receive salaries from what the artiste's weight can pull. At best, they are just your staff. Don't go about parading anyone as your artiste manager when the person is just an assistant. The artiste manager must be in sync with your dreams and aspirations. He or she must buy into your strengths and fold up his or her sleeves to erase your weaknesses or at best turn them to positives. @soundsultan years back went for a meeting with his artiste manager at Celtel/Zain and a call came in for the Manager. The manager's ring tone was Gongo Aso... of course he was let go. I see many artistes whose careers are in slow mo... and I meet their managers and immediately I know why. I had met one artiste manager once at Muson Center. I asked after his artiste. He said, "Bros, him no dey get show again. I been even wan ask if I fit come work with you." Abeg na new year, make I no come let them sack some people. But let me just say this, when you were employed as a manager of an artiste, you must show how you plan to increase his performance, personality, business network, quality of thought, manage circle of friends, protect Artiste's interests, improve his knowledge of life and society, encourage positive vibes, good PR and maximize potentials... amongst other things. Picking up cheques and ensuring he or she gets his or her fees paid is the least of what you are. An executive assistant can do that... and more. In Nigeria, as the artiste manager you need to be in charge of the creative drive and growth of your artiste. Not to be on the pay roll and be claiming title and flexing swag up and Dan.
