Itel Mobile, one of Transsion Holdings’ biggest mobile phone makers said it has surpassed its competitors such as Samsung, Nokia and Huawei, to occupy the second position in retail volume with a market share of 25.8 per cent.

Speaking recently in Lagos at the Itel media ‘meet and greet’, its Marketing Manager, Marvin Umebiye, said it was a commendable feat to crown the brand’s efforts in becoming a top market leader in 2018.

Umebiye, noted that despite the influx of Chinese manufacturers and domestic players in the business landscape with strong price competition and demand for high quality products, Itel occupies the top position with the highest brand market share in the Nigerian mobile phone industry at the end of August.

Umebiye, further stated that with brand’s key interest in focusing on long-lasting battery technology and camera capabilities, this surge in brand’s shipment and market share can be traced back to the manufacturer’s consistent smartphone launch in Q2 and Q3.

He added that there is a strong distribution network, availability and variety of affordable feature phones and smartphones, pitted directly against Nokia and Gionee’s portfolio.

The report stated that the increasing use of social media and upgrade to smartphones by target market segments especially young consumers due to the economic growth and dependency on internet-enabled services, forecasts that there is a strong volume growth in smartphone penetration in the country.

As far as we can tell, this defacto processor is now an industry standard for entry-level Android Go devices. The likes of Tecno Spark, itel A32P, itel P32 all run MediaTek MT6580 under the hood. In all likelihood, the performance should be similar.

Expect satisfactorily moderate performance. Apps load in about a second and won’t lag or stutter to any noticeable degree. The usual games i.e Temple Run and Candy Crush run just fine. You don’t do any performance gymnastics though. You will be able to open multiple apps and switch between them almost instantly. Keep in mind though that we are running a moderate 1GB of RAM, so there’s only so much you can do before performance takes a nose-dive.

Surprisingly, the itel S13 performs comparably better on Antutu Benchmark than its cousin, the itel P32. Where the P32 garners a score of 20521, the S13 marginally beats it to get 21960. Let’s pretend for one second that we understand what exactly those scores mean. In doing so, it appears that the S13 does have a slight comparative advantage over its cousin, although that’s only performance-wise.

Over time, we have seen rumours and hints about devices by mobile giant itel and although sometimes they don’t come out right, it’s crucial to note that they are not wrong most of the time.

Almost every quarter, we are greeted with brand-new smartphones ranging from from battery kings in the P-series, camera giants in the s-series and the A-series.

Following the trail of smartphones launched by itel mobile over a couple of years, honestly, they deserve some accolades as their smartphones have continually integrated and greatly improved in functionality, performance and value.

Following the launch of the itel A32F and P32 recently, word has it that the company has another upcoming smartphone in the “S” series and we hear this device is going to be a game changer.

Should we be expecting a 20MP selfie camera or the largest storage space any smartphone has had? Nevertheless whatever it is, itel surely has something good up their sleeves.
The most recent device from the S series (itelS12) delivered on both the selfie and the availing the fingerprint at a very affordable price.
We have no doubt that the next device if at all it lies in the S series will deliver even better.
Leaks around the specifications of the upcoming device have been circulating online for some time now, such as a 20MP selfie camera that is tailor made for African, the brand-new face beauty, dual rear camera setup and the device is likely to run on the latest Android 0re0( Go edition ).
Just like some of its predecessors in the S series, the smartphone is likely to come in a big screen size of 5.5” IPS Full Screen Display with a sleeker design.
Although news on the storage capacity is a bit sketchy, we can foresee the next itel S series coming with 8GB storage space or any capacity above that.

We expect not less than 2GB of RAM.

While The Tower Post cannot validate this information at this point of time, we will wait for an official announcement or perhaps launch when the upcoming itel device will be unveiled.
