Car Talk / Need Advice On Camry 04 by kingjoo: 3:02pm On Aug 01, 2020 |
I need help of the gurus in the house. I bought a Nigerian used Camry 04 late last year. Everything about the car is good, except that whenever I travel with the car, the "engine oil" light always come up. This doesn't happen with inter-City drive, only when I hit the high way and drive on top speed for about an hour. It has happened to me about three times. The first I noticed the light come on and I added oil to the engine and the light disappeared. The second time, I didn't notice it, and it affected the engine, I had to replace the crank shaft and the attached metals. The next time after that, the light also came on and I noticed, added oil and it went off again. I'm really uncomfortable with this and I need urgent advice on what to do about this. Please help |

Career / Re: My Firm Owing Me Are Threatening To Arrest My Guarantors by kingjoo: 7:18am On Jun 21, 2018 |
Bros, the reason for guarantors is in case you disappears. But right now you are still available and can be reached, no one will go after your guarantors, and the firm know that. the best you can do is to inform your guarantors of what happening, but do not sue the firm, let them first take action. Relax and ensure you have documented evidence of the amount you owe them and how many months salary they owe you. My best bet is that they will just threaten and let the issue die off 4 Likes |

Crime / Spanish Police Break Up Nigerian Sex Trafficking Gang by kingjoo: 3:08pm On Mar 26, 2018 |
Spanish police have rescued 39 women and girls smuggled in from Nigeria and trafficked into sex work by a notorious Nigerian gang. Europol says the victims were kept in "squalid conditions in caves" and intimidated with voodoo threats. Gang members forced the women into sex work in order to pay off a 30,000 euro ($37,000; £26,000) debt. Eighty-nine people, including a famous but as yet unnamed Nigerian DJ, have been arrested. The DJ is said to have helped move victims to Spain and organise sexual exploitation across the country. He was caught flying back into Spain after recording a music video. Investigations began when an underage victim filed a complaint with the police, saying she had been pressured into trafficking by voodoo threats made in Nigeria. Along with other victims, the girl was transferred from Nigeria to Spain via Libya and Italy. The operation, which was carried out with police from the UK and Nigeria, is one of the biggest trafficking busts in Europe, says Europol. After our investigation in 2016, the UK's National Crime Agency flew to Barcelona to meet Mossos, the Catalan police, who conducted the investigation into the Supreme Eiye Confraternity (SEC). Information was passed over and the NCA, alongside partners in Madrid, conducted further investigation into the group, leading to these arrests. This is a major blow to the SEC, but by no means the end. We know the group have cells, or nests as SEC called them, across Europe, Africa and the Middle East. The group regularly moves women and narcotics between different cities in Europe depending on demand. We know that SEC is back at work in Barcelona, and given time, they will be sure to continue their work in the UK and the rest of Spain. This is an international network with connections across three continents and without more international cooperation like that between the NCA and Spanish police, the group will continue to thrive. Read Sam's investigation: The world of Nigeria's sex-trafficking 'Air Lords' Europol says 41 house were searched in 11 Spanish cities and one city in the UK. According to Europol, the criminal cartel had links to the Eiye brotherhood, one of the most influential groups in Nigeria. The gang was allegedly operating all over the world and pumping money back into the network. Bank accounts allegedly used to illegally transfer more than 300,000 euro ($370,000; £260,000) have been blocked. |

Foreign Affairs / Equatorial Guinea's VP Obiang On Trial In France by kingjoo: 8:07pm On Jan 02, 2017 |
Equatorial Guinea's flamboyant vice-president has gone trial in absentia in France on charges of corruption after he failed to stop the landmark case. Teodorin Obiang Nguema is accused of buying a mansion and sports cars in France with a fortune amassed from oil-rich Equatorial Guinea's public funds. A lawyer for Mr Obiang, the president's son, denies he is a "big-time bandit". The trial is the first since France started investigating African leaders accused of illegally acquiring wealth. It comes after a nearly decade-long campaign by anti-corruption groups demanding that France act against leaders suspected of stashing their "ill-gotten gains" in Europe. Mr Obiang's six-storey Paris villa, estimated to be worth more than $100m (£80m), is located on Avenue Foch, in one the most prestigious neighbourhoods of the French capital. It boasts a cinema, spa, hair salon and taps covered in gold leaf, AFP news agency reports. Mr Obiang's lawyer, Emmanuel Marsigny, asked the court to delay the trial, saying he needed more time to prepare his client's defence. "Believe me, Mr Nguema is not a big-time bandit. He just wants his rights observed," the Associated Press news agency quotes Mr Marsigny as saying. Corruption watchdog Transparency International's lawyer William Bourdon told the court that the trial should proceed and the defence was trying to "paralyse" the judicial system through "opportunistic" and "malicious" manoeuvres, AP reports. Malibu mansion The West African state's government launched a bid at the International Court of Justice to prevent the trial from going ahead, arguing Mr Obiang had diplomatic immunity. The United Nations' court turned down the request last month. In November, Swiss authorities seized 11 cars belonging to Mr Obiang, accusing him of money- laundering. Among them was reportedly a Porsche valued at more than $830,000 and a Bugatti Veyron which sells for $2m. In 2014, Mr Obiang agreed to surrender a Malibu mansion, a Ferrari and Michael Jackson memorabilia as part of a settlement with US authorities. The US had filed claims against his US-based assets worth more than $70m, alleging they were proceeds of corruption. Equatorial Guinea, a small country on the west coast of Africa, struck oil in 1995 but most of its population still lives in poverty. Its President, Teodoro Obiang Nguema, is Africa's longest serving leader. He seized power in 1979, and promoted his son to the post of vice-president in 2012. Mr Obiang has always said that "he earned the money legally in his country," Mr Marsigny told AFP.
