My ABS has been on since a year plus but recently , when I start the car and the ABS light is off , I will be feeling a vibration on my break pedal for some minutes , after sometime, the ABS light will be back on and the vibration will stop ... Car is toyota camry 2009. .. went for an engine oil change today , the fuel station alignment guy that handled the oil change found out my transmission bolt underneath the car is loose ... And he said it has been dripping oil ever since ... He checked the transmission fluid near the drivers tyre side ... Note camry 2009 doesnt have a transmission oil dipstick in the engine bay ... He said the oil is short according to his checks , he said I should add it transmission oil ... I querried him if it's normal to add ATF oil when car is a bit hot. .. he said no problem at all .. the ATF needed is Toyota WS ... I serviced my gear 2020 ... I want to top it with the remaining WS from the 2020 service ... The thing is I can't top it in my compound cos to get to were I can pour in the ATF oil around the car tyre , I need some tools which I don't have ..... If I go to the Alignment guy's place , all he would do is to loosen the bolt and pour in the oil immediately... Will it affect my gear ?

Drain out the oil and look for fluide AT42 from Total. It's Dexron III. The reason why I am always recommending Total is because it's mostly in original form, not adulterated. I have shouted many times that we should flee from the red cans ATF. They don't even know what they produced. Don't even use it as power steering fluid. You can also use Oando Dex 111 but never 11. The Dex 11 is not electronic controlled, it is for 1996 Camry. Mobil ATF 220 is also suitable for the Corolla

He used the gas in the normal gas cylinder, not the can refrigerants

went to my mechanic on Saturday,narrated my ordeal , he called an AC guy , he told me the guy knows his onions , the guy came , I narrated everything to me , he told me from what he understands my compressor isn't bad at all, he opened my bonnet checked the Ac told me there was no oil in it... He recommended ND 11 oil for it , he told me those guys used cheap harsh gas for me , he said I'm lucky it would have cost me my compressor cos the compressor uses sensor , he asked if I perceived any gaseous smell when I on the AC ,I said no , he said my evaporator is good ,he told me my seals are one also the condenser bolt are broken , probably from the first guys that checked it out , they broke it and left it like that for me , he said I will change the condenser , I was like protesting , thinking it was another antics, he gave in and tried filling the gas, I was told to on my car Ac , when I on the AC there was little blast like sound , I thought a hose blasted, it was the condenser , he removed it and he performed a test told me to keep my finger close to one of the two holes , if he blows in air into one hole and it come out of the other , then it's good .. he did and no air came out.. he recommended I buy a new condenser , I bought a condenser and we did the test and air came out .. he fixed it , also fixed the seal and recharged the gas , the car is mortuary standard now ... He told me the other guys wanted to play games with me , they would have ripped me off without getting any solution.. he said it was just oil , good refrigerant and condenser was the problem

There is no definite standard test done that proof that you have a bad compressor .u need to understand the strategy of this local ac guy about issue fixing :f they are not able to figure out whatever is wrong, they will suggest swapping out the whole system.
Take you car to recommended technician that can perform standard test that tell you with 100% assurance whatever is wrong with your ac .
Standard Diagnosis of ac system will involve using ac manifold Guage to observe the two low and high pressure side depicted below,anything short of this is not acceptable.

So sorry for the late reply.
Your car is having leakage issue.
He should take care of the primary problem first before jumping into other issues.
The only reason why he should change your compressor is if the compressor isn't compressing properly and leakage due to longtime packing.which will affect the solenoid flow sensor if there's no refrigerant in the system.
Make sure your A/C technician is using manifold guage for diagnosis.

Seek second opinion from another ac tech. Those sellers don't give guarantee on automatic compressor due to some reasons best known to them.

I'm not a technician but I've had a problem with my AC before and it sounds similar to mine.

If the compressor still engages the engine when you put on the AC, then the problem may not come from there but the Evaporator. Ask the technician to remove the Evaporator and take it for test to see if it still works.

Usually, they'd deep the Evaporator inside clean water with the nozzles outside and then pump air into it while blocking the other side. If you see bubbles coming out from the water, then the Evaporator is bad, else it's working fine.

The Evaporator is located under the dashboard so the whole of that steering area would have to be dropped.

If you wish to try this option, please work with a highly competent technician and be around to monitor the process.

You parked a functional vehicle for 10 months and the AC was not working when you came back ( a leak), refilled and all vents were not as cold as should be and became warm next day (a leak) At this point find leak. 3 possibilities .

Compressor shaft seal ( can be checked manually without any equipment)

Pipes ( visual inspection can be used and soap suds)

Evaporator unit. ( You can actually smell refrigerant in the cabin if leak is that fast)

Standard I would use a vacuum machine and my digital pressure gauge to find the leak very easily, but not every one has fancy equipment.

I do not think your compressor is bad. Find the leak, fix, oil the compressor , replace the O rings, joints, vacuum and recharge properly (0.7-0.8kg of refrigerant)

I bought 2 cans ... It's 4 litres each .. but the required litre needed to gauge the Transmission is 6-7 litres ... So it will still remain a little ... I bought the two cans 14k each as of last year easter time ... I don't know the current price now

Thanks for the advice... But there is no AC Technician with fancy gadget around here ... They are all local guys
