Oga we are here for the topic.. About unreliability of jaguar ... Not about my posts... Even if it's mine or my brother's... We stay together, we do drive it... Its his.. That jaguar is strong ... The only issue is that we don't drive it in any water logged area cos it might develop electric issues... But so far so good its a nice strong car.... The only problem it had was the drivers door actuator... It was fixed by a panel beater who serviced it

Yea.. I manually put it on neutral that was why the gear nob wasn't selecting.... When I removed it from the neutral it started working perfectly till now ...

Thank God I've not owned one, I wonder if my mechanic would loan me in this lockdown some of the monthly payment I'd most certainly would've been paying on the Jaguar and if the BRT company would give me discount for being a loyal customer due to the Jaguar being at the mechanics all the time...

My brother owns a Jaguar XF supercharged 2009... Its been a year plus 6 month.... We haven't gone to the mechanic for once.. Everything is perfect.... So y'all should stop all that unreliable shit... You dont own nor have ever owned a jaguar.. So STFU

Recently, I was traveling from Owerri to Lagos with a 2009 Camry Muscle. At around Delta, the car started smoking and i noticed it wasn't throttling dowm again.

i managed it for a while till i got to a town where i got a mechanic to check it. He said the gear oil was low so the tramsmission was vomitting oil on the hot emgine causing smoke.

The recommemded oil was not available so we cleaned and topped it with ABRO ATF and i moved.

The gear was shifting smoothly till i got to Okada in Edo State. The smoking started again and gears wasnt changing. i parked and got mechanic again.

Same problem - gear oil was bad. Recommended oil wasnt available. We had to flush the transmission completely and use Dextron III so i could continue my journey.

I drove to Lagos without further trouble but some days later as i was going home, I noticed the car wasnt speeding no matter how much I throttled.

The gear wasnt changing and my car was crawling. Could barely climb a small slope on the road. It had to be pushed to a safe spot for the night.

The next morning, I drove it home without issues then called a mechanic. The guy says I have to buy a new transmission. I really no dey buoyant now.

Please any suggestions on what to do? The car is parked right now but moves well. I suspect the problem might be solved if I use the right oil - WS.

Did you later fix it or did you buy another transmission... My 2009 XLE. Doesn't have a dipstick for Gear oil... It developed some issue sha cos the fluid is low

He said u only need to leave car overnight of u wanna change gear or shaft... That leaving for a long period doesn't make sense at all... He said he will service the gear filter with injector cleaner and fuel if the gear filter is still iron filter , if not, he will buy another filter .... I wasn't satisfied with leaving the car for just 3 hrs I went home...

For no of litres, I don't know. It's usually about 4 litres. That gearbox has a dipstick, use it to check. Download the manual and follow the quantity stated there.
For the mechanic side, do not allow him wash your filter. It's either he replaces it or let it be.
I don't know if the trans fluid should be drained when it's hot or cold but to be on the safe side, allow things to cool down and then drain.
Make sure the surrounding area is clean and mechanic doesn't get debris into your transmission.
Get him a clean funnel. Many a transmission have been killed by sand particles falling into the filling hole. It gets the solenoids stuck later on or causes other issues.
Infact consider this a surgical operation. Keep all contaminants out at all cost.
Make sure the drain bolt is also clean before being reused. Don't allow him to just swipe it on his coverall and still in back in there with all the lose sand it gather from where it fell.

Mine is 2009 no dipstick to check any thing.. Its sealed
