I have a brother he's the eldest and about 28 years old, he's a heavy drug user, he takes everything, all types of weed including Kolos, Ice, and Crystal Meth, we've tried everything possible to stop him but I don't think he can turn back at this point he's heading to his grave

However the actual reason am making this post is not I love him anymore or wants to change him rather it's for out own safety, my parents lives in the village I usually visit them, I am the third child and second son, I am 22 years old.

This boy don't sleep anymore after taking those drugs he will talk till morning everyday, he will threaten my parents and everyone including his children and wife ( he impregnated one girl Like that)

Last week he almost killed his wife if not that my parents were around he was hitting her with stick and my parents intervened

Fast-forward to this week he fought me, I didn't even do anything to him I just came back and he rushed me with Cutlass by the grace of God I overpowered him and gave him a nice beating

Yesterday night I was sleeping and I started hearing a shout I woke up and came outside only to find him fighting my parents this boy was using all kind of weapon on my mum I got very upset and descended on him with wood, I beat him till he got weak, now he's threatening to kill everybody in the house

Like I said I live in the city and will be going back soon, I can't live home Like that cos this boy will definitely do something stupid, I don't even want to go far back on to start counting what we've done and the countless money spent on that slowpoke


I want him arrested and taking out of out family house I don't want to lose my parents at the age of 22, we can't afford a Rehabilitation center now, we're poor, I just want to get him arrested to make sure everyone is safe

These past few days have been emotionally and mentally hectic for me. I've been dealing with my child's mother and the disrespect that comes with it. I don't understand how someone can be so cruel insulting my family and stirring up trouble just because I decided to take a few weeks off from child support so I could recover and look into other sources of income.

I'm dealing with someone who can barely take responsibility for her child and couldn't even allow me some time off. Instead, she flared up, made the issue about my family, and started posting pictures of me and my mother online, insulting us and saying my mother should tell me to take care of my child.

I have always wanted to have custody of my child, but she is making it impossible. Now I feel so hurt because she keeps making the situation difficult for everyone and is painting herself in a bad light. My child is trapped in this horrible situation and I feel like I can't do anything to get her out. It feels like I'm slowly losing her and all the happiness I've ever had watching her grow, all because of her mother's behavior. She is divisive and chaotic and always tries to cause provocation instead of seeking peace. I feel bad and I get hear ache thinking how it all went wrong. I just feel it wasn’t ripe for me to have a child but she pushed for it and the outcome is quite a sad tale except for the beautiful experience I had with my child .. we never dated long for me to vet her horrible behavior but I guess chameleons are best at disguising themselves.. jeez I hate this version of life I had bringing my first child into this world and if I had a chance I would put a stop to whatever fling we had that led to this.. one of my worst fears ever

Do not let anyone come in between you and your peace of mind.
To the horrible baby mama, warn her that any negative post on you or your mother an you will block her. Or retaliate too with crazy post of how she came to ruin your life. She is hurting you because she thinks you are weak and susceptible to her tactics. Don't ever be a gentleman when dealing with her.
Send wat you think is fit for the child and save every receipt of transfer sent to a 3rd party.

In my family, we had maids at a time and they were all above 20 and they left when they needed to. So sorry to disappoint you, your traumas doesn't have to be that of others.

No school would put a 2yo in Nursery.
She would be in preschool.

I believe 3 is a perfect age when the child has been perfectly potty-trained, can talk and feed his/herself. But some kids could be anti-social or showing slow developmemt, so they need to interract with kids their ages. There is a reason second child tends to hit milestones faster than the first.

The only problem I see here is the cost.

Except it is peer-pressure because Naija mothers suffer FOMO. Once they see other women doing back-to-school, they will run and wear their 1yo long uniform with black shoe. Next thing is to tell you their child is 7yo in JSS1.

The only mistake you made is tagging it an Igbo thing or Igbo women problem.

Back when I was fully in Lagos, even before I got married, I once saw a young girl walking on the estate road very early in the morning, bare footed, I was forced to slow down and observe, then stopped and called the girl to come, she came and I asked her why is she walking bare footed early in the morning, she responded in Yoruba dialect. I didn't understand her, so I managed to ask her if she understands English, she replied small small. As I was still trying to talk with her, a man around 50 or so from my guess stopped by and came close and I quickly told the man what I noticed before stopping. The man then started asking her questions in Yoruba and they spoke for some time before the man then turned to me and said the girl ran away from home because she was staying with her stepmother who was maltreating her, always beating her with anything she lays her hands on and starves her often.

My point is, this issue of maltreating house helps, domestic workers, and minors is not done by Igbo women alone, it is a Nigerian married women sickness!


Most Nigerian women are very wicked to anybody living with them that is not their biological child. From their husbands siblings to their house helps to just name it, and it's a big shame to all Nigerian women. I don't know why it is too difficult for married Nigerian women to welcome and treat other people's children with love, it's not a big deal, it's a serious deficiency among Nigerian women which I despise so much.

Nobody is above mistakes but when you want to correct a minor or your house help or anybody else, correct them with love like you would do to your own child.


Because of this thing, I don't take Nigerian women and their religiosity serious cos I know say they are wasting their time cos Christ commanded us to love our neighbors like ourselves yet Nigerian married women find it so difficult to love their house helps, junior workers, domestic workers and those living in their homes like their own biological children, it's really a sad thing in Nigeria

OP is Igbo and is unashamed to be saying a fact.
What you are trying to do is similar to a Northerner trying to generalize banditry when we all know the region where it is exclusive to.

The sooner the society over there handles it squarely, the issues will be resolved.
