The problem of evil as its relates to an all loving God. The ancient Greek philosopher Epicurus is credited with first posing the “problem of evil” as it relates to the existence of God: “Either God wants to abolish evil, and cannot; or he can, but does not want to. If he wants to, but cannot, he is impotent. If he can, but does not want to, he is wicked. If God can abolish evil, and God really wants to do it, why is there evil in the world?”(According to Lactantius in on the wrath of god, ca. AD 313) Question ; If God does exist, why would He allow people to do evil things? Either this “God” is unable to stop people from acting as they do (in which case He is not all-powerful), or He is unwilling to stop them (in which case He is not all-loving). The problem of evil is perhaps the most difficult issue to address because it is emotionally loaded. It’s at times like these that I try to help people walk through the distinctions between reasonable doubts (that are grounded rationally) and possible doubts (that are grounded emotionally). Let me explain. We need to start by recognizing that there are many good reasons to believe that God exist. Th ese pieces of the puzzle are already in place before we start talking about the issue of evil. Yes, there are some unanswered questions related to the existence of evil, but we have to begin our examination by recognizing that the puzzle for the exitance of God is well on its way to completion even though this piece may seem to be missing. Next, we have to ask ourselves if the presence of evil truly represents a missing piece. Is it possible, instead, that the existence of evil may actually be an additional piece that helps make the puzzle for the existence of God more certain? When people complain that there is evil in the world, they are not simply offering their opinion. They are instead saying that true, objective evil exists. They are complaining about evil behavior as though this behavior ought to be recognized by all of us, regardless of our personal likes, dislikes, or opinions about human conduct. If evil were a matter of opinion, we could eliminate it by simply changing our minds. People who complain about evil behavior must accept the premise that true, objective “right” and “wrong” exist in the first place. They must accept that some things are morally virtuous and some things are morally repulsive, no matter who you are, where you are located, or when you live in history. This kind of moral evil transcends all of us; if it doesn’t, why complain in the first place? You see, in order for true evil to exist (so that Epicurus has something legitimate to complain about), there must be a true barometer of right and wrong. In order for an act to be objectively “bad,” there must be some standard of objective “good” by which to measure it. What might that standard be if not God? Can the standard come from some evolutionary process? Can it come from the slow development of cultural groups? If so, morals are simply a matter of opinion (albeit a largely held opinion), and there is nothing objectively evil to complain about. Remember that even the most heinous regimes of history identified their own behavior as morally virtuous. In order for true evil to exist, there must be a source of true good that transcends any and all groups that might make a claim about the existence of evil. In other words, the existence of true evil necessitates the presence of God as a standard of true virtue. It turns out that the existence of evil is actually another evidence for God’s existence, another piece of the puzzle that reveals God’s image. But let’s return to the very real issue of evil behavior. Why would God allow people to kill each other if He loves us and is powerful enough to stop it? While this question has emotional power, we have to ask ourselves if there might be a reasonable explanation. Are we thinking it through evidentially, or are we reacting emotionally? Are we rejecting the existence of God because there is no rational explanation for the existence of evil, or are we resisting volitionally because we stubbornly refuse to accept any explanation that might be offered? I can think of a number of very good reasons why God would allow people to behave immorally, even though He loves His creation and is certainly powerful enough to stop evil. Ask yourself this question: Which is more loving, a God who creates a world in which love is possible or a God who creates a world in which love is impossible? It seems reasonable that a loving God would create a world where love is possible and can be experienced by creatures who are designed “in His image.” But a world in which love is possible can be a dangerous place. Love requires freedom. True love requires that humans have the ability to freely choose; love cannot be forced if it is to be heartfelt and real. The problem, of course, is that people who have the freedom to love often choose to hate. That’s why freedom of this nature is so costly. A world in which people have the freedom to love and perform great acts of kindness is also a world in which people have the freedom to hate and commit great acts of evil. You cannot have one without the other. In addition to this, from a Christian perspective, we are all eternal creatures who will live beyond the grave. If this is true, then questions about why God might not stop evil are a bit premature. At best, we can say only that God hasn’t stopped evil yet. But God has all eternity to act in this regard. Our eternal life provides the context for God to deal justly with those who choose hate and perform acts of evil. God is powerful enough to stop evil completely, and He does care about justice. But as an eternal Being, He may choose to take care of it on an eternal timeline. Compared to eternity, this mortal existence is but a vapor, created by God to be a wonderful place where love is possible for those who choose it. If there are good reasons why God might permit evil in this life (such as the preservation of free will and the ability to love genuinely), concerns about His failure to act are simply unreasonable. Doubts about God’s existence based on the problem of evil may have emotional appeal, but they lack rational foundation because reasonable explanations do, in fact, exist. While one can imagine possible doubts related to the problem of evil, careful consideration of the nature of objective evil reveals that these doubts are not reasonable. We ought to be ableto move beyond our reservations here because the problem of evil does not present us with a reasonable doubt. It has been a while since Game of Thrones ran its course. Are you re-watching it during lockdown? Have you ever wondered where the creators get their inspiration? Of course, they start with the books, but how do you transpose a written description of a character into a fully-fleshed person with a specific hairstyle, clothes, and way of moving? Answer: imagination! Yes I thought so but imagination must be fed, and there is no better food for it than art. Let us see together how art inspired Game of Thrones creators! You can also add your own views on were you think the creators got inspiration from. 1 Is Georgiana Burne-Jones Catelyn Stark? In the 1st painting you can see Georgiana's portrait by Edward, with their two children in the background. Georgiana’s face is solemn, serious, and focused but also ready for action. Dressed in a serious dark dress, with only a tiny decorative collar, she is all business. Not only her dress and hairstyle but also her attitudes seem to be reflected in the character of Catelyn Stark. 2 Jorah Mormont as The Man With(out) the Golden Helmet The similarity here is striking. Iain Glen as the GoT’s Ser Jorah Mormont bears an uncanny resemblance to the Man with the Golden Helmet. A painting controversially attributed to Rembrandt. Just look at the nose, the set mouth, and eyes. Just as Ser Jorah, the painting has an interesting history. 3 Sansa Stark as Ophelia? Ophelia by John William Waterhouse is certainly dramatic on its own. Ophellia's eyes looks beyond reality, long parted with anything resembling common sense. She runs through the wild meadows gathering flowers and looking for her lost love or maybe running away from the pain it is causing her. Her distress is obvious. Sansa Stark embodies the GoT’s damsel in distress, and her image is closely inspired by the pre-Raphaelite paintings. 4 Caligula in Joffrey Baratheon or better put Joffrey in Caligula In this case, the similarity seems to go beyond pure looks. Caligula was the third Roman emperor, ruling from 37 to 41. Although he was born Gaius Caesar, after Julius Caesar, he acquired the nickname “Caligula” (meaning “little [soldier’s] boot,” the diminutive form of caliga) from his father’s soldiers during their campaign in Germania. There are few sources about the reign of Caligula, but he is described as a noble and moderate emperor during the first six months of his rule. After this, the focus is upon his cruelty, sadism, extravagance, and sexual perversion, presenting him as an insane tyrant. These sources may be questionable, but during his brief reign, Caligula certainly worked to increase the unconstrained personal power of the emperor. Sounds vaguely familiar… 5 Brienne of Tarth as GoT Joan of Arc? Millais has captured in this portrait the historical moment when Joan of Arc is encouraged by Saints Michael, Margaret, and Catherine to lead the battle against the English. As we all know, it didn’t end well for her, despite her trusting look towards the heavens. Brienne of Tarth is the woman warrior of GoT. She is at the same time very similar to Joan of Arc and very different from her. Brienne focuses on the warrior side of her nature, her feelings a risk to herself and those she cares about. As Joan is trusting, Brienne is strong but lacks hope and she knows honor, justice, suffering, and despair. Both of them have to fight with being ridiculed and not taken seriously. 6 Desperate was Jon Snow Jon Snow, as we know, knows nothing. Yet, as he comes back to life, his face always echoes desperation even in his love making scenes. As if he knows over and over again, he will lose everything that is dear to him. 7 Tyrell Exploring the Soul of a Rose Clearly, the creators of GoT had a book of John William Waterhouse’s works at hand. Here, we can see Margaery Tyrell copying a pose of Waterhouse’s model from The Soul of the Rose. Waterhouse’s title is loosely derived from Chaucer’s dream-poem, Romaunt of the Rose, itself adapted from the 13th-century French romance: Roman de la Rose by Guillaume de Lorris. The narrator embarks on a pilgrimage with the god of love, who leads him to a rose symbolizing perfect love. The Soul of the Rose was painted when Waterhouse was in his creative maturity; an artist established with patrons and public alike, who pursued his unique vision whilst adapting to modern style.

UNN Youngest Professor, Ozioma Onuzulike Writes About The Marlians Cult *The Deadly Virus Called Naira Marley* By Ozioma Onuzulike “Quarter pass, you still want to get high/After one original tramadol extra…/ I want to wake up inside money… /Yeah, come! Am I guilty?/ I am smart and I am making money… /Am I a yahoo boy? No evidence…” Taken from “Mafo” (2019), these lines easily spotlight the hot lure of our youth towards Naira Marley’s world of reckless lifestyle. Azeez Fashola took up the stage name “Naira Marley” in admiration of Bob Marley, the late reggae musician. Like Bob Marley, he wears dreadlocks and is a notorious smoker and promoter of cannabis (Indian hemp or Igbo). He is the latest deadly virus in town, creating a cult followership among the youth who are called Marlians. Like an evil genius, Azeez Fashola easily sells the Marlian brand to his admirers by blowing their heads with customised volleys of “Marlians! Marlians! Marlians!...” Many adults have also swallowed the bait. One of them recently thumbed up Azeez Fashola’s photograph on the social media, gleefully declaring: “This is the Marlian Prince”. He proceeded to enlist as one of Naira Marley’s spin doctors, blatantly lying that Naira Marley “studied uptil (sic) Masters level in the UK and holds a degree with distinction in Business Law”. Is he correct? Has Azeez Fashola attended any degree-awarding school? Naira Marley’s last school was a Sixth Form college (Crossways College) at which point he left off formal education because, according to his own confession to the EFCC, “I had kids at that time, so I took a break and started making music till date”. But his spin doctor told ‘white’ lies in his spirited effort to convince his audience that Naira Marley is, according to him, “a successful young man, living an interesting life”. And why not? Naira Marley, born only on 9th May 1994, is married to two wives and has four kids! Concerned parents should discountenance Naira Marley’s spin doctors on social media who are dutifully reading his recent Wikipedia entry upside down to the extent of expressly awarding him a master’s degree in an unknown field of study. They are working hard to dispel fears that real Marlians do not become school drop outs even when they are “mannerless” and smoke weed like their Prince, change women like clothes and immerse themselves in the quest for easy money that are spent on alcohol and sex – vices that constitute the selling points of their Prince’s music videos. As a parent, take out some time to understand the lyrics of Naira Marley’s latest hit song “Soapy”, which he released after his recent “visit” to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Watch Naira Marley himself or members of his growing gang do the “Soapy Dance”. You will be surprised to witness how audacious Naira Marley has grown in injecting deadly viruses into the brains of our youth. Before now, you may have seen people dancing lewd dances with their vibrating buttocks and changing gear sometimes to make gestures that are suggestive of the sexual act itself. But you have seen nothing yet. In his so-called “Soapy Dance”, Naira Marley has got those vulgar dance moves “improved” by his introduction of a very explicit sexual gesture that has extended the deadly reach of today’s insanity. Beginning with the song’s title, “Soapy”, he makes no pretensions about his glamorisation and promotion of masturbation. In doing this so-called “Soapy Dance”, the right or left hand is held in front of one’s groin in a way that visually suggests it is holding up a man’s charged “thing”. A rhythmic glide of the folded hand is sustained at work while the dancer seductively moves his or her groin in an aggressively suggestive way. That is not all. It is even more perplexing and vexing to encounter Naira Marley’s deliberate injection of real or simulated voices of children into the “Soapy” choruses in ways that easily sway unsuspecting kids to sing along with him. What good does a practical lesson on masturbation do to your children? He even ends the song, most enchantingly, by cautioning on the wrong kind of soap to masturbate with. Your children innocuously sing with him, oblivious of the song’s poisonous flow that gradually finds its way into their vulnerable brain. Naira Marley’s “Soapy Dance” is sugar-coated poison! Like a delicious candy, your children nod their heads to its sweetness at first, but, if care is not taken, they are bound to be silently and gradually destroyed by the candy’s deadly core! You may also examine Naira Marley’s “PXTA”, his music video featuring a large crowd of shameless young men and women dancing with bare bottoms and even copulating like dogs. You will find a set of pregnant girls dressed in what looks like secondary school pinafore uniforms and who suddenly turn to dance the “ass dance”. In this video, Naira Marley unambiguously defines the qualifications for admittance of young, impressionable minds into the Marlian “gang” (to use his own expression!). In the song’s introduction, you hear Naira Marley say “Hey control the crowd, control the crowd/ Marlians come forward, the rest Bleep off…” Well dressed young men are refused admission into the dance arena as Naira Marley intones, “If herb is not getting you high, just play Naira Marley song and you will scatter/We, the mannerless ones; zero belt, a thousand trousers”. The young men pull out their belts and stagger into the arena to join Naira Marley whose own ‘belt-less’ trouser hangs below his ass as he continues singing “Do you know MD?/ That means you should dance Marlian Dance/Can you see NBG?/ Don’t bother saying too much; it is we, the no belt gang!” From my interactions with students of my university, “Zero belt, a thousand trousers” has become a very catchy line for them. So, to be a real Marlian, you have to dress without a belt and your trousers would have to hang down your ass, exposing your inner wear like that of Naira Marley. Why? “We, no manners” is the creed! After all, “U Bad-Oh!” If you are patient to search out the English translation of Naira Marley’s “Opotoyi”, you will confirm that he has NOTHING good to offer your children. In this, he sings: “Marlians (7x)/Lift Your Legs (6x)/ Marlians (7x)/MD, MD, MD, this MD is Bad-Oh!/… South Africa owns this bottom mehn/Look at that bottom, they travelled to mould that bottom./So It's as big as this/You covered it up with clothes/It's as big as this…” He continues to sing about big bottoms. Suddenly, he adds “…Dance to my song, give me 5 minutes like indomie/ She's looking at me, seems she wants to bang me/ Give me my thing, man, give me my weed”. He glamorises illicit sex and Indian hemp. He then goes even more vicious: “I called my dealer, she sniffed, I had weed in my mouth, ganja!/She wants to kiss, baby girl can you kiss Tobi, Go down …/Small breast like tiger pussy/Sexy girl, let me lean on your chest”. He is not done yet. In “Opotoyi”, Naira Marley tickles the fancy of your children towards MouthAction, raising their curiosity as he sings, “Just like sugar,… her pussy is as sweet as sugar… / Lick what you want, let them know we met wealth on earth/ So It's as big as this/ You covered it up with clothes…”. He continues with other lewd lines before the song comes to an end with hails of “Marlians! Marlians!...” And then, you wonder if Naira Marley is building your children for good or helping the devil to plant seeds of destruction in their impressionable minds. Or whether the devil himself has not cultured Naira Marley into a deadly virus. Without doubt, what have characterised Naira Marley’s brand are illicit drugs, sex, alcohol and easy money. All of Naira Marley’s music lyrics and videos of 2019 that I have seen are never complete without the glamorisation of cannabis (Indian hemp), the female ass and alcohol. The glorification of internet fraud (yahoo-yahoo) is also his trademark. These are among deadly viruses that drive many young people away from their parents’ godly counsel and either destroy them completely or keep them disoriented. Parents? Yes, I am referring to godly parents, those who are truly responsible and exemplary, not those who are probably worse than Naira Marley himself. One of Naira Marley’s strange fans among the university lecturers that I know has vehemently argued that Naira Marley is not the inventor of these vices and that they (these vices) will not end with him. Yes. There have always been these vices, no doubt. But the point is that Azeez Fashola (Naira Marley) is currently one of the most audacious promoters of them all. And responsible parents ought to be on their guard. They should be wary of the trending deadly virus of this time. I urge all truly concerned parents to be on red alert, constantly guarding their children with the anti-virus of godly virtues. One of my own father’s efficacious anti-virus programmes is drawn from God’s word in Proverbs chapter 1, especially verse 10. I can confidently recommend that - “My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not!” *Ozioma Onuzulike is a Professor of Ceramic Art and African Art History at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.*

The decision to elevate Lyubimova, 39, to the nation’s top culture post was met with immediate criticism. On Wednesday, Ilya Shumanov, of the anti-corruption group Transparency International, tweeted a 2008 blog post by the new minister where she wrote, “I simply can’t stand going to exhibitions, museums, opera.” Blogging on the online platform LiveJournal, she went on to write about hating ballet and classical music. Additionally, she said, “I’ve been to Paris, but not to the Louvre … I haven’t been on a gondola trip on the Venice canals.” She continued, “I’ve been to the British Museum, the National Gallery, and a few dozen more European and Russian museums, and reckon I wasted my time there.” After news of the posts broke yesterday, the entries were quickly deleted. Lyubimova has yet to comment about the blog. https://www.artnews.com/art-news/news/russia-culture-minister-olga-lyubimova-1202676191/
