Bro, your in dreamland!
The blackberry has nothing new to offer, I can bet my #10 that the only thing the will do is
Wider and clearer screen
Make its an 8mp camera
More ram and storage!
Nothing out of the ordinary, even the apple and samsung. They are just recycling the samething.

You are on point, they will always play catch up.
its not enough to make devices with higher specification, its all about the O.S integration, fluidity, and how many developers rolling out apps on your platform,
Believe me it takes time.
Speaking about BBM on other platforms, hehehe, RIM would have been buried 3yrs ago. BBM is the only reason Rim still has a little life in North America and Europe market. Their Enterprise Market is falling apart too.

I once had galaxy s1 which I sold cuz I got frustrated with mb consumption...imagine downloading facebook of 3mb on bb,its 10mb on galaxy.though I still like android for their inovation

But in all get BB,get simplicity!!!

Dude Stop making noise and make your point if you have used other mobile OS you should know very well that bb is playing catch up both in hardware and software.
Im not against anybody using a bb for its cheap data plan in Nigeria, this is the only thing Bb has to offer that is why is still selling in Nigeria and Africa while loosing out in the rest of the world.
And as for you knowing anything about gadgets i really doubt that because everyone knows that program with more functions and stability takes more space. Now do you want to compare the Facebook on Android to that on Bb?

My very good enlightened friend, i already made my point that the only reason bb sells in Naija is becuase of data plan, which is not an issue in North America and Europe. For a regular guy in North america who does not give a rats ass about downloading illegal movies with blackberry, who prefers watching his movies straight from netflix what good does a blackberry do him.
Firstbank app came to blackberry first probably because blackberry is common in naija so i was a marketing strategy that has nothing to do with blackberry OS.

Billyonaire: You made no sense. I own iPhone (iOS), Galaxy Note (Android) and BB. I can tell you authoritatively, as user of all flagship products, that BB is best, in what ever way you look at it, BBM, Data bundles, MMS etc. Dont fall for American Propaganda. They ground other people's technologies to promote theirs. Do not you see the Samsung/Apple patent wars and how American courts decide. Use your natural mind? Dont be swerved by media brouhaha.

And you just made sense? I have used blackberry storm, bold and curve, htc hd 7 (windows phone 7) Iphone 3gs(Ios) and now htc one x.(Android).
i have done all the hacks, jailbreak, unlocking and rooting all by myself, so when i say used i have explored the full potential.
You can tell i regular guy who uses these devices for social media and chats that BBM it better than Ios or android and wp7.
I don't about the data plans you talk about, you are very correct but it only applies to africa and asia where internet is still expensive and that is where blackberry market focus because it has already lost in America and Europe.
Again Blackberry falls short in hardware aspect and aspect which is why they are working on blackberry os 10.

Billyonaire: Is it that you can not read and understand what he is writing ? It makes economic sense to spend 1500 for 3Gb instead of 15,000. I own Galaxy Note and BBs, I love the BB more, cos the BBM and the dataplan are a magnificent combo. Talking about getting html pages loading well. There are many mobile browsers alternatives for that.

Economic sense and at the expense of productivity. I don't blame anybody for using a blackberry if it serves your purpose.
Just bear in mind that you can not enjoy the full potential of a handheld smart device with a blackberry.
Blackberry has only BBM to offer me, I would have been fine if that was all i needed in a smartphone.

Lady Winona: Am I missing something here? I admit I'm not a phone geek but I do know my math and money management. A friend of mine who bought an android cos she was told it's better than BB spends a 1000 for 200MB. With my BB plan, I spend 1400 for 3GB, which if I'm to calculate is abt 15000 for the same 3GB with an android. Does that even make sense economically? Or is there something I don't know

Get in line, Android phones open full html pages, while bb open wap.
Android phones run heavier programs while bb run mostly java.
The truth is blackberry has lost it but hopefully they might be able to salvage there reputation with there upcoming oS 10, if not then it good bye for rim.

1. JP Phillips made very valid postulations on this matter, - If you are honest, they are postulations not fact. So no one can judge the boys based on Valid postulations.

2. The fact remains that the police are playing to the gallery in this matter, as I suspected they would. - Another speculation, not facts. Now you are judging the investigation base on what you suspect.

3. Most people already blindly and stubbornly presumed these 'fine boys' were innocent from the beginning, - I have been on this topic on nairaland for a while. I hardly saw anybody proclaiming the boys innocent. They only told people to stop branding the ALUU4 as cultists without proof. It will be wrong calling them cultists, if really they are innocent. That doesn't show that people are brandishing them as innocent victims.

4. Now, how on earth is the said Coxson Lerebori a "mastermind" of anything? - The police have not yet concluded their investigation but from their ongoing investigation, he was declared wanted for questioning. Their investigation is pointing to him raising a false alarm. People are happy he is gotten. They are not celebrating a verdict. So don't make it look as if they are tagging him guilty.

5. If he simply raised the JUSTIFIED alarm that some cultists were subjecting him to violence in his own house - You are still speculating.

in a forceful way you said, forceful enough to threaten his safety? because he is owing a paltry students debt?

how much is geometrics, gitto, etc owing Nigerian banks?

is it justifiable to threaten his life because he is owing you?

it was a 4/5 men against 1, can you guarantee his safety?

havent you seen where a debtor is beaten to death before?

why did the boys not use vigillante or police to collect the money?

what about reporting bright to the chief of their community ? why use "force" like you claimed?

if your theory is corrct, then the boys took the law in their hands before the community did to them.

what do you think bright's family will be saying in the media tomorrow?

you lack common sense.

Prof. People don't run away from help which they requested for and actually got.
He cried out for help "wrongfully" and didn't wait to explain the situation before he bailed out.
He labeled the boys thieves before fleeing without explanation so to the barbaric Vigilante the boys were robbers who were trying to lie there way out with no one there to collaborate there story...

Obviously we have more wild animals in this country than we can ever imagine, including educated ones.
What is the argument here, armed robbers or not aluu community broke the law simple.

Ijebulogic: The problem with companies like RIM is they are limited in their exposure and understanding of markets outside their comfort zone (i.e the USA). Previous posters say that Africa isnt a big enough market to sustain Blackberry? I completely disagree. RIM has simply not developed a good enough strategy for Nigeria (Yet)...So far they have (finally) announced the opening of a Lagos office, because only a blind man would deny the potential of Blackberry in Africa. Let me state my reasons.
1. Nigeria alone has 160million people with an impressive teledensity of almost 75%. If RIM acquires just 10% of that market, the impact on its sales will be phenomenal
2. The Blackberry appeal is "pinging", free real time comms, which creates a chain effect. i.e. I must have a BB to communicate with another BB (the alternative Apps have some limitations). So RIM have a power-product with a multiplier effect..the only need to dock it properly in Africa.
3. There is a massive opportunity to do more reserach &development in the area of creating Apps customised for the Nigerian/African market. Apps are big money and RIM have ignored their african fan base in this regard for too long.
4. Finally, anyone who believes that an African market can not sustain a global business should see the financial statements of MTN and even more incredible - Guinness. FYI - Nigeria is the single highest contributor to Guinness global sales figures...even higher than Ireland the home of Guinness. RIM need to do what Guinness did, make the blackberry the ultimate symbol of communication for the Nigerian consumer. My two cents.

Dude Nice statistics but then that doesn't take any the fact that the only thing a blackberry phone has to offer you is BBM.
i can give you a few features you get from a regular android and IOS devices still very far fetched from a bb. vpn, voip, 3d maps, cloud integration etc.
Blackberry phones sell in Nigeria particularly because of the cost of mobile data. If people could get and little as 2gb for N1500 date plan a month on a regular device than its funeral
for bbm.
Do do not tell me the other alternatives for Bbm isn't as good, because i would personally choose skype, viber, tango and common Yahoo messenger over bbm any day.

The topic is no joke, its trying to point out how stupid the idea of introducing such a system would look.

You said it yourself people don't withdraw less than 1000, so what is the need for a coin atm machine
duality: nonsense!

how much coin are you even going to withdraw. ppl hardly withdraw less than 1000 naira so the need for this machine does not arise. and this topic, is just one of those jokes.

Women will screw your life when they are breadwinners. But that is different from what we are saying here.
The topic is sharing/ contributing a percentage of what each person makes to run the home.

And about the car example, you would really let your wife jump okada and molue when her car is bad while you drive around in your air conditioned vehicle?
They are called the weaker sex or a reason.

conyema12: Any established lady that needs to keep her ego intact while manning her own house should do well to live alone and forget about a husband bossing her arround else she should be submissive to her lawfully wedded husband. Even if she decides not to share the responsility with her husband, the man will always run the house effectively.

We should not let the western tradition obscure our respect for values in african cultural setting... One of the problems we have in this country is that we love to imitate other ppls culture while throwing ours in the garbage. A wife should accord the same level of respect that our grand mothers gave to their husbands.

We can re-adjust our economic dynamism, but our cultural values should kept intact.

... Am not supporting disrespecful husbands.

Yes we know the culture nobody is disputing that, but then evolution is normal and these thing change by the day.
It's very funny because these ladies wouldn't even want to stay at home and be house wives after there education. That is one thing you people keep ignoring on this thread, these cultures were made when women were not part of the labour market.
Please google a place called Tanna and you will see people still living the said culture above.

For the second time please can someone tell me what the women would do with her income if not put it in her family.

Murder_X: Na irresponsible men dey say marriage na partnership. Marriage is NOT a partnership. There must be mutual respect but the man is the head and bears responsibility for the future and direction of his family. He has the plan and vision of the family unit and the woman supports him in buildiing this "great vision". When he lacks vision and direction, he is bound to become irresponsible and then the woman assumes the place of planner, organiser and driver.

Very true, but i don't think the point here is about who plans the family, definitely it's the man and the woman has a say too but because she has become a stalk holder in that life you are planning.
The question here is if it's right for her to contribute finanically.
My guess is, if you are part of a plan, you would give everything to see the plan succeed right? Whether financially, emotionally, spiritually etc.
Besides the bible called her a help me.
Now define help?
Romance / Re: Does Sharing Financial Responsibilities Bring Disrespect In Marriages? by kinnkw(m): 3:02pm On Jun 19, 2012
@acidtalk, any idea what these women should do with the money they earn? This is 21st century and unless you are getting married to an illiterate, your wife would probably work.
you could also decide she stayed home and take care of the kids which is a decision both of you have to come to an agreement but when your income isn't enough to sustain the family, she would probably bring out her certification and jump at any job opportunity.
My point is that time has changed, this people have equal education and opportunities, like every guy does.
We all know what our culture entails as well as the economic
Situation of our generation. These changes are inevitable.
Respect in a family has very little to do with it, some hooligans still beat up there parents even after paying there school fees.
Respect is reciprocal and must be earn and maintain over time.
Thanks

There is no other way to explain it.
Mercedes/German Cars = Luxury, Performance,Innovation,Power, technology and Durability.
Honda/Japanese cars = Fuel Economy, efficiency, Cheap and Low maintenance.
If you don't care how much you speed on fuel and expensive maintenance etc, then go for a Benz
but if you do, then go for a Japanese preferably Toyota.
Toyota is the king of Japanese cars, honda on the other isn't as durable.
I have used a 1998 toyota camry since 2007, bought it with 173k mileage(Quite High).
It still runs very well and the parts are very cheap compared to a honda accord of the same year.
