Donarozzi:But do u agree wit me dat language is very dynamic nd can b alterd completly by strong influences frm anoda language? Dat was wat happend in Ikaland nd Ndokwaland wich receivd large influx of Igbo migrants btw d 14th nd 19th cnturies durin wich d Igbo lnguage seriously alterd d original Edoid lnguages of dese pipo. As prove, do u knw dat d Igbo lnguage is already threatenin d Urhobo language in Arhagba town to d extnt dat many of d natives can't undastnd or speak Urhobo, but speak Igbo well? |
patrick89:I'm so surprise at ur level of ignorance. So ar u tryin to say dat u don't knw dat "Edo" was d alternative name for d ancient Bini Empire nd its pipo? D modern Edo State was only named afta d ancient Edo Empire. I suggest u go study history properly to enlighten urself wit knwledge of events of d pasts. |
nannymcphee:U ar not far frm d truth. It is bcomin clear to us dat d so-calld church wedding is a European traditn smuggled into Christianity by d whites. |
Taich:D problm wit many African ladies is immitatn. They follw any new trend witout first searchin out its origin. D Europeans wu brougt Christianity to us mingled it wit dia native customs nd traditns which many pipo hav embraced witout even reference to d Bible. D so-calld church weddin today is mainly a European traditnal marriage pattern copied frm d whites. D same way d use of coffin for burial is neither a Biblical practice nor African traditn, but was introducd by d whites. |
Akinwunm1:I'm frm Delta State, nd I hav heard about all those superstitious stories countless times. They ar false. As an educatd person, u supposd to knw better nd shuld b in positn to emancipate d unenlightened illiterates frm such darkness of ingnorance. I'm a lover of history, nd hav com to undastnd thru researchs nd investigtn dat many of those stories or myths were mere fabricatns by our cunny ancestors to instil fear in d minds of stubborn pipo nd bring them unda control. For exmple, it is only a half-baked educatd person wil believ d myth dat Oduduwa fell frm d sky, or dat pythons carry diamonds in dia stomachs which they vomit out wen they want to eat in d night nd dat d illuminatn frm d diamond cover several kilometrs, or dat Nigeria playd football match wit India in which India beat Nigeria 99 goals to 1 wen India culdn't even reach qtr-finals in past Asian Cup competitns. |
allcomage:Guy, go far away wit ur Igbo Biafra. We don't need it. We hav our own agitatn to pursue, period! |
pofolo:Is dat not a terrible lie? And u believ it? It is a shame dat many educatd pipo stil believ such superstitious stories met to deciev unwise nd guillable pipo in d past. One major reason why Africa is d way it is today is too much diabolic beliefs, as educatn has not realy tranformd d mentality, nd life-views or reality of many so-calld educatd Africans. |
moscobabs:Yorubaland is dia central capital. Yorubaland is notorious for idol-worshippin, paganism, charm-makin, superstitious beliefs, voodoism, nd other sorts of diabolic practices. U pipo hav to repent nd embrace d Light of God. |
Lobeez:And som ignorant Nigerians will still shamelesly claim dat Nigeria has strong military force or strong army. A situatn whereby Nigerian soldiers fled on sightin Boko Haram militants witout first puting up fierce resistance while ordinary vigilante members stood galantly to battle nd repelld d terrorists in gunfights, is very embarassin nd calls for urgent evaluatn of strength nd combat-readines of d military. Wit dis present state of d Nigerian military, I doubt if our armed forces can even witstand small countries like Togo, Niger or Ghana in armed combats (God forbid). D Boko Haram conflict is d first major test of d combat-readines of d Nigerian military since d end of d civil war. It's high time d Federal Govt took appropriat steps to restore d strength and dignity of our armed forces. |
bigfrancis21:Why not first search for dat book I recomended nd read, befor makin ur conclusion? |
bigfrancis21:Since u ar doubtin, I advice u consult comprehensive books on history of ancient Benin Empire nd her exploits. Also read materials on history of Idah (Igala) nd her relations wit ancient Benin. Source: J. F. Ade Ajayi & Ian Espie (1965). A THOUSAND YEARS OF WEST AFRICAN HISTORY. page 207 is about history of d Igalas. I hav many other history books on Benin's rule over d Igalas, Yorubas, Igbos, etc, but I left them in my home town. |
bigfrancis21:Don't u knw dat at a point in history, d Binis conquerd nd ruled over d Igalas? Even Portuguese Explorers had a record of d wars fought when d Attah Igala rebelld against Edo overlordship nd refusd to pay further tributes to Bini royal treasury. It was even around d 15th-17th cnturies dat d Igalas backd by Nupe warriors were able to secure dia indpndnce frm Benin Empire. Dis is not a make-up story, it is a well-documentd fact acknwldgd by historians. D four-mrkt days systm was a creatn of d Edo pipo, nd spread to all neigborin tribes which came unda Benin rule, includin Igala nd Igbo land. Even d famous Nri Igbo was Priest Eri, who left ancient AKA KINGDOM durin d Ogiso era btw 8th-10th cnturies. |
Radoillo:I'm Urhobo, but we togeda wit d Binis, Ishans, Afemais, Owans, Etsakos, etc, ar all Edoid pipo who share a common origin dating back to d era of d Ogiso Dynasty. Prior to d Oba Dynasty, Edo Kingdom was knwn by its ancient name "AKA KINGDOM". It may also interest u to knw dat d ancestors of d Urhobo/Isoko pipo were active stakeholders nd participants in d buildin of d Ogiso Dynasty in Igodomigodo (present-day Benin-City). It was d incessant confusion, quarrels nd crises which trailed d collapse of d Ogiso Dynasty dat promptd d outward migratn of many Urhobo/Isoko ancestors frm Aka land to dia present homelands btw d 8th nd 11th centuries. In other words, many Urhobo/Isoko ancestors had left ancient Aka land b4 d establishmnt of d Oba Dynasty nd d changin of d name of d kingdom frm "AKA" to "EDO" by Oba Ewuare D Great. |
Genesis 35:23-26 Jacob has 12 sons, the 7th son, Gad has 7 Males namely, [b]Zephon, Haggi, Shuni, Ezbon, Eri, Arod, and Areli.- Genesis 46:16 Eri, the Igbo ancestor migrated to this presence day Eastern Nigeria. His sons.. founded [u]Aguleri(agul-eri) and Umueri(umu-eri) both in Anambra State. ..
. Guy, d Biblical Eri is not d same wit d Igbo Eri for a numba of reasons: (1) D Biblical Eri only share d same spellins wit d Igbo Eri, nd not d same pronounciatn sound. D fact dat they share d same spellins (a common coincidence worldwide) doesn't mean dat d two were d same figure; (2) D Biblical Eri didn't lived d same era wit d Igbo Eri. D Igbo Eri lived around d 9th century afta d birth of Jesus (AD), but on d contrary, d Biblical Eri lived thousnds of years b4 Jesus (BC). I advice u do proper research on wat I hav just pointd out. D clues to origin of Igbo Eri lie in ancient AKA KINGOM (Edo Kingdm), because "Eri" (i.e. spirit) was an ancestral figure honored durin d Ogiso Dynasty. |
The Binis shared exactly the same 4 market days as the Igbos, most likely to have borrowed it from the Igbos: Eken (Eke) Orie (Orie) Aho (Afo) Okuo (Nkwo). They also share similar words in Igbo such as 'ise' for number 5, 'ene'\'eno' for number 4 ('ano'\'eno' in Igbo) and 'isee' for 'amen' or 'I concur'. http://www.edo-nation.net/numer.htt/quote] Why do u Igbos alwys want to re-write history to deceiv d readin public? Evrybody knws dat Igbos did not rule over other tribes in d ancient past, so wat do u hav to prove dat d Binis borrowd dose words frm Igbo wen it was d Binis dat ruled over d Igbos? It is on record dat Edos were very ancient pipo nd giftd empire-builders since antiquity dating back to d 8th century wen d land was knwn as AKA Kingdom. It is also an open-truth dat Edo Kings ruled over much of Southern Nigeria includin Igbo land, nd dat Igbos served as slaves nd servants to Bini kings nd chiefs, hence d name "Igbo" in Edoid language. |
Macelliot:I mean to say d Jewish nation. If at all any group in Nigeria shuld claim Jewish origin, dat shuld b d Fulanis nd not d Igbos. Igbos ar no-where related to d Jews by either language, culture or physical appearance. U pipo shuld just b contentd nd proud of ur "negro" origin. |
EroticAngelina:Many of nowadays churches ar not actualy churches but "motivational centers" nd "bussiness platforms" in disguise. If u observ very well, u wil notice dat many so-calld modern churches nowadays bear names or titles dat no longer includ d mention of God, Jesus Christ or Church. E.g, it is now common to see churches bearin names like "Hope nd Faith Ministries", "Golden Life Int Inc", "Achievers Miracle Centre", etc. D fact now is dat, once a person is skilld in d act of oractory nd public speakin, he or she can easily open a centre where he brainwashes pipo by preachin "half-truth", nd b4 u knw it they will start callin him or her "pastor". |
Macelliot:Did d Jewish Nation announcd to u dat one of dia tribes was missin? How wil u claim Jewish when there is no traces of similarity btw d Hebrew language nd d Igbo language? For ur informatn, Hebrew is a Semitic/Aramaic language closely relatd to Arabic. But in contrast, Igbo is a Niger-Congo language. If at all any Nigerian group shuld claim attachmnt to d Jews, dat shuld b d Fulanis nd d Hausas whose language is Afro-Asiatic. D Fulanis hav a well-documntd nd confirmd history of bin descendnts of inter-marriages btw North African Jews plus Berbers nd West African Negroes (mainly d Wollofs nd Madinkes). Wit d conquest of North Africa by Arab Islamic Jihadists, many native Jews fled down to d Senegambia region where they mingled wit d negroes. Up til date, d Jewish/Semitic features such as pointd noses, curly hairs, etc, ar stil visible in d bodily appearnce of many Fulanis. |
OZAOEKPE:Why can't u pipo for once b proud of ur black heritage, nd stop attachin urselvs to d Jews who ar white pipo (semitic), nd who don't even care about u? Wat sort of inferiority complex is dat? Take it or leav it, d fact stil remains dat Igbos ar topical negroes (blacks) while Israelis ar of d white race, nd there is no close similarities btw d Hebrew language nd custom nd those of d Igbos. |
johnydon22:Forget it guy! Dat rankin positn given Nigeria is a mere theoretical statistics put togeda in d comfort of air-conditned offices, because there is nothin visible on ground to prove dat d Nigerian economy is dat great. Wat is d justificatn 4 such rankin when Nigeria can't even boast of a stable/ reliable power supply or efficient modern transportatn system such as high-speed trains nd pot hole-free super highways? By dat rankin, ar they tryin to tell us d Nigerian economy, which is import-dependant wit export of crude oil nd gas as d sole major source of govt revenues, is better dan economies of Holland, Belgium Portugal, Sweden, Ukraine, Switzerland, etc, even when it is obvious dat many Nigerians run to dose places for greener pastures? They need to giv us convincin proves of how they arrivd at such bogus rankin. |
front247:Who forced a political marriage on u? Do u mean d British or d northerners? Does d north hav d wherewithal to force d whole south to remain in Nigeria? Why soundin as if we ar helpless or as if d north has d capacity to stop us southerners frm leavin if we really want to quit d union? My friend, d truth is dat d north alone can not stop d south. They do not hav d military nd political strength to stop d south frm seccedin if d south so desire to go. Likewise d south can not stop d north frm pullin out of Nigeria if they so wanted leave. Howeva, wat we Southerners lackd is d needed unity to achieve our common/collectiv goals. Lets put an end to all dese needless acrimony, enmity, backbitin nd distrust existin among our pipo: Urhobo/Isoko, Igbo, Ijaw, Yoruba, Efik/Ibibio, Bini, Ogoni, Ekoi, Ishan, etc, nd togeda we shal achiev wat we want. |
We Southerners shuld b wise b4 things get out of hand for us politicaly. We do not need a soothsayer to tell us dat Northerners ar mor xperienced nd strategic in politics than us. Wit d way we Southerners ar followin d "one man one woman" policy nd havin fewer children, while Northerners ar busy marryin multiple wives nd havin excess/numerous children, I tell u in 20 years time d populatn of d North may double or even triple dat of d South. Nd at dat point, Southerners may continu to b at d mercy of Northerners politically, because populatn size is a political tool dat determines who wins nd who does not win elections. Wit d way things ar goin, a time may reach whereby only Northerners can vote in or occupy d position of president by themselvs even witout support(votes) frm d south. But on d otherhand, no Southerner can emerge as president witout beggin d north for dia votes or witout he bin endorsed by d north. Pls, we need to b careful nd re-strategiz so as not to fall into such pitiable political situation. |
I think there is a kind of favoritism here in d way nd manner our law courts decide matters involvin man nd woman nowadays. D Nigerian judicial system appears to giv preferential treatment to women at d detriment of men when handlin cases involvin both sexes. D other day, a man was sentenced to prison just because he was accused of using money nd gifts to entice a married woman, whereas d said married woman who was unfaithful to her husband was neither charged to court nor punished. What sort of unfair judgement is dat? Cases also abound of girls who decievd men wit d promise of marriage just to get d men to sponsor dia educatn, only for them (d girls) to abscond nd hook-up or get married to other guys upon graduatn. Why is d law not punishin those girls for such breach of trust? Why does it appear dat it's only when men commit such offence dat d law seems to hav strenght to prosecute? |
achi4u:Wake up frm ur self-deceptn! As long u Igbos keep smugglin Urhobo/Isoko lands against our wish into ur fraudulent map, ur proposed Biafra wil continue to remain a "mirage". D Urhobo Nation thru our umbrella body (Urhobo Progress Union) hav already warned u Igbo Biafra Agitators to remov Urhobo lands frm ur Biafra map, yet u pipo refused to listen. Even d Itsekiris hav also issued similar warnin. Wat exactly do u pipo want in our lands? Wat is dat reason behind ur persistent interest in us? Havn't u pipo learnt frm d lessons of d 1960s civil war wen d same Igbos forced d minorities witout dia consent into dia Biafra, nd at d end, d same minorities join forces wit Federal Troops to root out d rebellious Igbo Biafrans frm dia lands? Igbos can't just force other tribes against dia wish to join dia Igbo Biafra. |
Rotimi47:Wat happend may just b a well calculated plot by USA nd its NATO allies using Turkey as a bait to provoke or draw Russia into military confrontatn wit d united NATO family. Who knws if dis is just a hidden plot by NATO to create d opportunity to teach Russia lesson militarily, ova her role in d Ukrainian conflicts. |
IndianaJay:Wat of dose girls dat give dia toto free of charge to boys unda d pretence or in d name of "boyfriend" nd "girlfriend" relatnship, wit no plan of marriage? Which of d two situatns is betta, d one dat monetiz her own pussy nd d one dat gives free to men unda d deceptn of boyfriend/girlfriend relatnship? |
Igbo is quite older than Bini! Even Nri monarchy is older than that of Bini. Bini is only imperialistic while Nri was spiritual. @PAZIENZA. D progenitors of d ancient AKA KINGDOM which was later re-named EDO EMPIRE durin d reign of Oba Ewuare D Grt, were d AKAS. D Aka pipo were proto-Edoid, nd were d ancient aborigines who inhabitd d entire region stretchin frm Akoko-Edo/Igarra axis in d North, to Owan/Owo axis, to Ika/Ndokwa/Asaba axis, nd down to Urhobo/Isoko/Itsekiri axis in d South. D ancient Akas were probably displaced nd subdued by a band of a mor powerful royal invaders who came down south frm North Africa to set-up a unique dynasty(Ogiso) in Udo (near Benin City) btw d 6th nd 8th centuries. Follwin dis invasion, many of d Akas left while d remnants secluded themselvs in quartrs which ar today knwn as ALAKA quartrs thru out Edoid region. D name ALAKA seems to b derivd frm two words ALA(land of) nd AKA. ERI appeard to b a Warrior-Priest wu movd east frm UDO. |
pazienza:By God's grace, tomrrw I wil hav mor time for us to debate som hidden historical facts. Do u knw dat d ancient name of Edo Kingdm was AKA Kingdm? Do u also knw dat ur NRI was an AKA/EDO man named "ERI" wu migratd to found Eri-Aka(Nri)? |
