The original and actual name of the community was Ogwuwgu. Ogugu as it is currently called was a dialectical difference between the native dialect and that of the white men whose own dialect dominated ours and hence, Ogugu. The name was derived by the founder based on the physical feature of the area. The community is situated in a fertile valley (ogwugwulu) surrounded by hills which gave it a natural protection. The valley (Ogwugwulu) where the community is situated gave rise to the name, Ogwugwu, now Ogugu. By geographical location, Ogugu is bounded on the north by owelli town, on the south by the rolling low land of Nenwe, on the east by Ọgbaku hills and on the west by Ugbo/Mmaku hills all in Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State. The legendary story of the community's ancestral lineage of Ntu-egbenese clan as recorded by Rev FR SN Onuigbo and acknowledged by members of the clan had it that, Ajakuba, an adventurous hunter from Akeze in the present Ivo local Government Area of Ebonyi state arrive at the valley (ogwugwu) and located a convenient cave known as Isiogba cave, located at the present day Ezioha village in Ogugu and settled at "Nkolo Isiogba". Having settled and established at the cave, with his wife, Ajakuba got a son he named "Ajakonwe" who in turn, married and got his own son named Ubo-Ogeneguegwu. Ubo ogeneguegwu also got married and begot Anumkpume, who thereafter, married and begot Shikeoke-Ntegbe. Shikeoke-Ntegbe was the father of Ntegbenese. He was said to have married to Uzuma, a woman from Mgbowo and the couple had six children, five sons and a daughter-Mgbọkwọ, who was said to have got married to Ubatoke, a man from Ituku. The five sons of Shikeoke-Ntegbe in order of seniority were - Shikeoke - Anyichi, Ebe, Shikeaguma, Oshianeke, and osagwede. They all lived at Isiogba cave and it's environs. Just like their father and other descendants of Ejakuba, they were all wise, adventurous, and highly skilled in hunting, tapping of palm wine, farming, and trading. However, the 2nd son (Ebe) proficient in wine tapping migrated birthed the current day owelli, the third son (Shikeaguma) proficient in hunting, migrated and birthed Ihe, the fourth son - Oshianeke, proficient in farming, migrated and birthed Agbogugu, the fifth son - Osagwede, proficient in trading, migrated to present-day Akegbe ugwu, settled and became the ancestral father of the present-day, Okunano (Akagbe Ogwugwueze). The first son, Shikeanu - Anyichi, proficient in tapping wine, stayed back in their father's land at Isiogba cave and birthed the present day Ogugu which however, became the ancestral home as well as the cultural head of Ntegbe Clan. There are some significant present-day events that were told by oral history that proved Ogugu the head of Ntegbenese clan such as the Nkolo Isiogba cave Mkpumenese Ntegbe, Anụ-Ntegbenese, Ọhọ Ntegbenese all situated in Ogugu and handled by various communities. Shikeanu - Anyichi who birthed Ogugu, had three sons namely, Ezioha, Amanokee, and Ibite Oli. "Easter 2024: High Chief Onuokaibe Calls for Unity and Renewal in Mburubu, Prays for Governor Mbah's Administration" Christians all over the world have been urged to use this year's Easter celebration to reflect deeply on the life and sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ. The Chief Executive Officer of Afro Villa Ltd and Mburubu Construction Company Ltd, High Chief Jerry Patrick Onuokaibe, made this call in his Easter message, which he sent to newsmen on Saturday. He stated that Easter is a period of solemn reminder of immense love and selflessness as demonstrated by Jesus Christ, rather than just festivities and joyous gatherings. He encouraged individuals to emulate Christ's virtues of compassion, forgiveness, and unwavering faith during this season of renewal and rebirth. Chief Onuokaibe highlighted that the feast extends beyond historical events to practical application in daily lives, where selflessness and love for others are paramount, thus, urging for unity and collective prayer among the people of Mburubu for the betterment of their community, stressing the importance of seeking peace, prosperity, and positive transformation. Additionally, Chief Onuokaibe called for prayers for Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah's administration, hoping for wise decisions that benefit all residents of Enugu State; citing scriptures such as Matthew 28:6, John 3:16, and Romans 5:8 to underscore the spiritual significance of Easter, emphasizing the hope and promise it brings through the power of resurrection and God's unconditional love. Chief Onuokaibe, however, encouraged everyone to hold onto the hope and promise of Easter, acknowledging the ever-present love and grace of God in their lives. He also extended warm wishes for a blessed and meaningful Easter celebration to Christians worldwide and the good people of Mburubu community in Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State. The statement reads " "EASTER MESSAGE TO CHRISTIANS ALL OVER THE WORLD AS WELL AS THE GOOD PEOPLE OF MBURUBU COMMUNITY IN NKANU EAST LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF ENUGU STATE." As we celebrate Easter this year, let us take a moment to reflect deeply on the life and sacrifices of our Lord Jesus Christ. Easter is not just a time for festivities and joyous gatherings; it is a solemn reminder of the immense love and selflessness demonstrated by Jesus through His crucifixion and resurrection. In this season of renewal and rebirth, let us emulate His compassion, forgiveness, and unwavering faith. The essence of Easter lies not only in commemorating historical events but also in applying the teachings of Christ to our daily lives. Just as He sacrificed Himself for the salvation of humanity, let us strive to be selfless in our actions, showing love and kindness to those around us. This period serves as a poignant reminder that through faith and perseverance, we can overcome any challenges that come our way. In the spirit of Easter, I urge the people of Mburubu to come together in prayer for the betterment of our community. Let us pray for unity, peace, and prosperity, lifting each other up in times of need and rejoicing together in times of blessings. Our faith and collective efforts can bring about positive change and transformation. Furthermore, let us not forget to pray for the administration of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah. May our prayers guide him in making wise decisions that benefit all residents of Enugu State. Together, we can support our leaders and work towards a brighter future for our beloved state. During this Easter season, let us remember the words of Matthew 28:6, "He is not here; he has risen!" This declaration reminds us of the power of resurrection and the hope it brings. John 3:16 emphasizes the depth of God's love, stating, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." And Romans 5:8 beautifully expresses God's love for us, "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." However , let us hold onto the hope and promise of Easter, knowing that God's love and grace are ever-present in our lives. Wishing you all a blessed and meaningful Easter celebration. Yours sincerely, Chief Jerry Patrick Onuokaibe Chief Executive Officer of First Choice Afro Villa Ltd and Mburubu Construction Company Ltd.

Rehabilitation Centres or Homes have a long history dating back to ancient times, where individuals with disabilities or illnesses were cared for by their communities. In Igbo culture and tradition, the society accepts and reintegrates back healed formerly mentally challenged persons or terminal/communicable disease survivors. This is as a result of the _Onye Aghana Nwanne Ya_ and _Etu Nwanne Adi Na_ spirit. However, in the course of societal advancement, colonial authorities introduced special homes/centres for such persons into the polity - largely due to stigmatization and ostracization. It is instructive to note that the concept of structured rehabilitation began to emerge in the early 19th century in Western Europe with the establishment of institutions focused on providing care and treatment for people with physical or mental disabilities. Today, it has metamorphosed into varying service centres: physical therapy, occupational therapy, substance abuse treatment, mental health support, amongst others. Such homes play a crucial role in helping individuals recover from injuries, illnesses, or other challenges and regain independence and a quality life with which to confront and be part of a competitive society. The National Rehabilitation Centre in Emene, Enugu State; established in 1980 by the Federal Government of Alhaji Shehu Shagari is a government-run facility dedicated to providing rehabilitation services for individuals with physical disabilities. It offers a range of services including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and vocational training to help people with disabilities regain independence and improve their quality of life. The Centre plays a vital role in the local community by providing specialized care and support to the individuals who face challenges due to disabilities. Additionally, it also serves as a hub for advocacy and awareness-raising efforts to promote the rights and inclusion of people with disabilities in society. As a result of years of neglect and abandonment, the Centre now known as the Welfare Home is being managed by the Enugu State Government through the Ministry of Children, Gender Affairs, and Social Development after a successful takeover in 1999. However, a visit to the Centre leaves much to be desired and one is forced to ask: Does a human being inhabit the Centre? Can an individual be truly rehabilitated in the Centre? Is there a difference between where the inmates are coming from and the Centre? The level of infrastructural decay as well as the absence of basic social amenities for the smooth running of the Centre can be imagined, not experienced. But that is the plight of the Centre! It is on this note that we, the National Association of Seadogs aka Pyrates Confraternity, Enugu branch wish to use this medium to draw attention to the plight of the Centre and its inhabitants to the State Government. In a special way, we appreciate the Governor of the State, Barr Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for his proactiveness in fulfilling his campaign promises to the people; the prompt delivering of the water project in 180 days, the various road construction going on simultaneously across the State to ease vehicular movement of goods and services, the modern Smart Schools with teachers' quarters, the Type 2 Hospitals with staff quarters, the ongoing reconstruction of the long-abandoned International Conference Centre, prompt payment of workers' salaries, amongst other numerous people-oriented projects and policies. We understand the paucity of funds amidst ever-increasing macro-economic demands; but we urge the Governor/Government to include the Centre among his priority list. His Excellency should keep it in mind that a society is judged by how it treats the least and handicapped people among itself. On our part, we will do the little we can as an Association that protects the weak and a voice for the voiceless. We will assist in providing some of the recurrent materials - as much as we can. But the huge infrastructural decay can only be fixed by the Government as well as good-spirited and philanthropic individuals and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs). Let's strive to treat the inhabitants of the Centre like the human beings they are. Together, we can create a better society. Joey Mazeli Chapter President NAS/PC Enugu

Enugu State Government recently acquired a cutting-edge Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) surveying instrument to enhance the operations of the Survey Extra-Ministerial Department. Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, recognizing the importance of technological advancement, spearheaded the procurement, aiming to boost the efficiency of the surveying processes within the department. According to reports, the primary function of this state-of-the-art GNSS surveying instrument is to expedite survey work, ensuring not only speed but also accuracy and reliability. The instrument utilizes a special automated process to pinpoint locations with precision, significantly contributing to the overall effectiveness of the department's activities. In an interview with newsmen on Thursday in Enugu, the Acting Surveyor General of Enugu State, Surv. Chime Justus Uchenna expressed his conviction that the new equipment is an answer to the prayers of the department. Emphasizing its significance, he noted that the machine's ability to transmit field data directly to the office serves as a powerful tool, eliminating professional errors that may have previously occurred in surveying tasks. Surv. Chime also highlighted a distinctive feature of the GNSS instrument, stating that, "Its special automation ability allows it to remain stationed in the field while providing real-time data for analysis in the office." He further explained that the data acquisition format employed by the machine facilitates seamless movement from field data to an online platform. "This implies that once the data is input into a satellite imagery-enabled platform, it can generate an accurate location of where the data was acquired." "The introduction of this advanced surveying instrument marks a significant milestone, addressing the department's needs and enhancing its capabilities." Surv. Chime further underscored the transformative impact of the GNSS surveying instrument on their daily operations; stating that, the machine's unique automation ability allows it to remain stationed in the field while providing real-time data, marking a departure from traditional surveying methods so as not to only streamline the workflow but also enhance the accuracy and reliability of the collected data. The Ag. Surveyor General, highlighted the machine's role in error reduction, posting that, its capability to transmit field data directly to the office is a crucial aspect of its effectiveness. "By eliminating the need for manual data transfer and minimizing the risk of errors during the process, the GNSS instrument becomes an invaluable asset to the Survey Extra-Ministerial Department's quest for precision in their surveying endeavors." However, as the department embraces this cutting-edge technology, there is a perfect sense of optimism about the positive impact it will have on their overall efficiency. The integration of the GNSS surveying instrument not only answers the department's prayers but also positions them at the forefront of technological advancement in the field of surveying.

The Youths of Mburubu community in Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State have taken a decisive stand against what they term as a "misleading injunction" that seeks to disrupt the recognition process of Chief Jerry Patrick Onuokaibe as the Igwe Elect of Mburubu Community. In a press statement released by the Mburubu Youth Council, chaired by Mr. Kingsley Ositadimma Ọnụabuchi, and Vice-Chaired by Chief Sunday Chukwu, the youth vehemently opposed the recent court injunction obtained by individuals including Hon Emma Edeh, Nwosu John, Igbudu Ogbonna, Nwankwo Samuel, and others. They also highlighted their concerns over the involvement of Prince Lawrence Ozoemena Ezeh, a former Honorable Commissioner for Lands and currently serving as the Commissioner for Science and Technology, in what they perceive as actions aimed at destabilizing the community's peace. According to the statement, the issue of Chief Jerry Patrick Onuokaibe's recognition as the Igwe Elect of Mburubu Community was amicably resolved during a crucial meeting with the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development, and Chieftaincy Affairs, led by Deacon Okey Ọgbọdo on February 12, 2024. The agreement reached was for the status quo to remain unchanged until after April 21, in respect of the mourning period for the late Igwe Ogbuzuru Ezeh. Expressing their bewilderment at the actions of some respected elders who seem to disregard the agreed-upon process, especially during the mourning period for Queen Josephine Ezeh, the statement emphasizes the need to uphold the agreed-upon process for selecting a new traditional ruler. It also clarifies that Chief Jerry Patrick Onuokaibe has not presented himself as the Igwe-elect since the agreement with the ministry but rather as a business mogul. "We, the youths of Mburubu, express our bewilderment at the actions of some respected elders who have chosen to disregard the agreed-upon process, especially considering the limited time remaining (less than 40 days) to finalize the selection of a new traditional ruler. Such actions pose significant dangers to the unity and progress of our community especially now that we are still mourning the death of our late Igwe's wife, Queen Josephine Ezeh." "It is essential to clarify that Chief Jerry Patrick Onuokaibe has not presented himself as the Igwe-elect since after the said agreement with the ministry but rather as an established business mogul, as evidenced by his public statements and actions hitherto. Any attempts to misrepresent this fact or obstruct the rightful process are seen as anti-progress and detrimental to the interests of the Mburubu people." The Mburubu Youth Council urged those behind the injunction to cease their actions immediately, citing the potential dangers they pose to the community's unity and progress. They called for cooperation in adhering to the agreed-upon process for the betterment of Mburubu. "We urge those behind the misleading injunction to desist from their actions immediately, as they only serve to hinder the peaceful transition and development of our community. Let us uphold the agreed-upon process and work together for the betterment of Mburubu."

The National Leadership of Mburubu Elders Forum in Nkanu East Local Government Area of the state has condemned a statement credited to Chief Simon Aniobi Mbah and Mr Solomon Obinna Okafor over their Igweship *tussle*, which has been under contention and the position of the law towards it. Recall that a few days ago, there were statements credited to both the former and the latter, saying that a certain 2003 Town Union constitution of the community permits only Uhuegbe village to produce their next traditional ruler. In a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary of Mburubu Elders Forum, Ọzọ Sylvanus Njoku and sent to newsmen, he stated that, anybody talking about the Igweship even after the intervention of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, through the Honorable commissioner for Local Government Affairs, rural Development and Chieftaincy Matters, Deacon Okey Ogbodo is purposely causing a crisis in the community and also against the administration of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah. He stated that, Chief Simon Aniobi and Mr Solomon Obinna Okafor erred by issuing statements with the aim of misleading the people and wonders why such could come from supposed noble men from Mburubu. Ọzọ Njoku posited that, there is no any known 2003 constitution of Mburubu to the state Government as regards the Igweship, hence, what has been gazetted is a 1976 of their community *constitution* which the state Government has made clear, that it is what they will use to settle the Igweship tussle. According to him "the leadership of Mburubu Elders Forum grossly frowns at some news which went round the media space some days ago and were credited to 2 of our sons, Chief Simon *Aniobi* and Mr Solomon Obinna Okafor." "Such statement is not only misleading but highly incongruous as it was aimed at ridiculing the community and also misguiding the general public" "The State Government has made it clear that, what they know is 1976 constitution of Mburubu community , which was signed by some of our renowned fathers and leaders and gazetted with the Enugu State Ministry of Local Government Affairs, Rural Development and Chieftaincy matters " " This constitution stated all the processes and procedures involved in the selection of an Igwe in Mburubu community and was what was used to nominate our late ìgwè, His Royal Highness, Igwè Ogbuzuru Ezeh " " We then wonder why supposed renowned sons of our community would be so petty to mislead the Public even after our last meeting with Enugu State Ministry of Local Government Affairs, Rural Development and Chieftaincy Matters" "It is an act that is tantamount to opposing the peaceful and progressive administration of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah and we call on Chief Simon Aniobi and Mr Solomon Obinna Okafor to withdraw from doing so" In another Development, The Enugu State commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Rural Development and Chieftaincy matters, Deacon Okey Ogbodo has called on all warring factions in the community, to sheathe their swords and allow the rule of the law to prevail. Speaking during a stakeholders meeting of all Mburubians , organised at the conference hall, Enugu State Ministry of Local Government Affairs, Rural Development and Chieftaincy Matters, Deacon Okey Ogbodo stated that, the State Government is not happy with what has bedeviled the community in recent times and is determined to put an end to the saga. He stated that, what the ministry has is 1976 constitution of the community signed by the Late Ìgwè and the following Mburubu leaders as at then, Chief Smo Njoku, Chief S Okechukwu Chief Joseph Igbudu Chief Anthony O, Chief VC Chukwudike Chief E. O Nwankwo Chief N. O Chukwu Chief Innocent Njoku, Chief E. A Aniobi, Innocent Orji amongst others . Deacon Ogbodo also informed the community leaders that, the said 2003 constitution could be that of the Town Union but not known to the state Government and thus, those making references to that, should desist from using such to mislead and misinform the community members especially, those vulnerable to wrong informations ;as it could cause unimaginable crisis in the community . "The state Government frowns at both the media and physical war that is about to degenerate into something else in your community over your Igweship position" "As we all know, this ministry is in charge of every matter concerning chieftaincy affairs and we are here to direct and guide all the communities on what is required for their progress" "Your community has a 1976 constitution gazetted in the ministry which has answers to all the issues bothering all of you" "This constitution was signed by notable leaders of your community and was used to choose your late Ìgwè, Igwe Emmanuel Monyelu Ogbuzulu Ezeh and that is what the ministry would use to choose his replacement " "Any body that Is ignorant of this should be guided properly to avoid the wrath of the law" "The constitution says, the chieftaincy should be done on rotation basis of the choice of the entire community, which means, anybody that is qualified from your community and not from a particular village, can contest while the entire community make their choice" Reports has it that, the statement shocked almost all of them, as majority are unaware of the said constitution as they have been wallowing all these while in ignorance. It was gathered that, the community agreed to come back to the ministry at a date that would be fixed in April, 2024 to determine the modalities for choosing their next traditional ruler in line with the gazetted 1976 constitution of the community. The reason for choosing April according to reports is because, that would signal the end of a 2 year mourning period they agreed to use and pay their late ìgwè his last respect before replacing him with another person .

Mburubu is a community located around Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State. The community is made up of 7 Villages which include: Umunafo, Umudara Uhuegu, Amachi, Amanatọ, Uhuegbe, Obinagu (25 families) Uhuegbe village where Mr. Linus Igbudu originated from has 4 families namely: umunkwume, umuarum and ụmụchime. Umudara village is the place where the commissioner for Science and Technology, Prince Lawrence ozoemena Ezeh hails from and fortunately, where the ìgwè elect, Ọzo Jerry Patrick Onuokaibe has more supporters. According to reports, prior to the grand finale, organised by the Mburubians, there was a threat of Intimidation for people not to attend the event at all for any reason, which was defied abruptly as they came to show their solidarity to their Ìgwè elect, Ọzo Jerry Patrick Onuokaibe. After the program which took place on Saturday 3rd February 2024, the next morning being Sunday, February 4th, thugs sent by Prince Lawrence Ozoemena Ezeh, descended on the community members, stripping them naked and carting away their properties for going against their instructions. Speaking with newsmen, the chairman of PDP in Mburubu Ward, Hon Egbo Stephen thanked God for saving his life, that of his family and other community members. He stated that some of the villagers have run to other villages in search of safety. "I thank God for my life. " I was beaten to a stupor by some thugs sent by Prince Lawrence Ozoemena Ezeh for attending the grand finale of our ìgwè elect, ọzọ Jerry Patrick Onuokaibe. They had been warned earlier but we refused their Intimidation and attended the event as we unanimously chose him to lead us. "It started on Friday when One Mr Ambrose Anobi used a metal gong to go round the villages telling people not to attend Ọzo Jerry Patrick Onuokaibe's grand reception or face a penalty of ₦100,000 which they refused." " when we came back, they started attacking our people, especially the vulnerable. Some ran away to bushes, some were locked inside their houses while others ran to Ọzo Jerry Patrick Onuokaibe's house where the law enforcement agency that arrived, came and saved them." " The security agencies wanted to arrest but were told not to do it as we are still one Mburubu, and making arrests of Mburubians isn't part of the plans of our ìgwè elect." Hon Egbo went down the history line to state how Prince Lawrence Ozoemena Ezeh has been imposing candidates and leaders on them. "Prince Lawrence Ozoemena Ezeh, the son of our late monarch, has been insisting on being the one who would produce his father's successor." He has made it a must to be the sole person that appoints people for us into various positions that comes from the Government starting from councillorship down to President General, Neighbourhood watches, that even if there is any opposition, they will still be asked to respect him because of his father." "Prince Eze started this From Obinagu village when one Mr Orji Emmanuel was brought out by the community after screening to become our PG which Prince refused and brought out one Emmanuel Edeh despite all refusal from Obinagu and Mburubu as a whole, even when people were beaten at the local Government headquarters, he still led. When it was the turn of Amanatọ to produce Councillor, Mrs Vicky Nwobodo, Benjamin Nwaumeanu, Abel Umeanu all contested but PRINCE Ezeh from nowhere, brought Chris Onyema who has never participated in our party activities to become councillor and when people reacted he said, no body will stop him from doing what he wants to do. Mr Chris Onyema later finished his first and second tenure. "When it was Town Union presidency, which was the turn of Uhuegbe, one Mr Cornelius Okorie, Ọzo Kenneth Igbudu, Mr Calistus Chukwu all from Uhuegbe were contesting. Uhuegbe people wanted to screen them and bring the best candidate, but Prince Lawrence Ozoemena Ezeh came and vetoed, thus imposing Cornelius Okorie on them, they revolted and still calmed down for peace to reign. "When it was the turn of Amachi Village to produce the current councillor, Prince Lawrence ozoemena Ezeh, went as far as Uhuegu to pick Innocent Ukpabia denying One Kingsley from Amachi the opportunity to do so even when it was their turn. As the party ward chairman, we insisted and he still had his way. We even went to the Government house to protest but were asked to allow peace to reign " " When it was the turn for Town Union presidency again for Obinagu, they brought one Mr Sylvanus Chukwudi after thorough screening to be their rep, the same Prince Ezeh went and brought Hon Emma Edeh, who just finished his councillorship to take over the position, as against wishes obinagu people ; an incident that brought avoidable crisis leading to the breaking of chairs, canopies amongst others during the said election. "Even when his father, late Ìgwè ogbuzuru Ezeh urged that both of them step down for another person,he refused saying that, no body questions his authority in the village. " When ìgwè died in December 2022, while still in the mortuary, Prince Lawrence wanted to crown one Simon Anubi the Ìgwè of Mburubu, but was refuted by all Mburubians, saying it was wrong. " He went to Alfred Nwachukwu to take over the throne, but he refused because, he was allegedly given a bad condition which he wasn't comfortable with. " Prince Ezeh later went to Mr Cornelius Okorie, who refused; saying that the PG which they gave him, was just ceremonial as he didn't have any power of his own but just carrying instructions while on seat. " Augustine Chukwuogbu was approached but he refused saying he isn't capable in all spheres to give Mburubu a modern leadership she desired. This was why Mr Linus Igbudu was asked to do, which on the day of his declaration, our people were forced to follow him to the local Government headquarters." "The people of Mburubu refused to be forced into following Prince Lawrence Ozoemena Ezeh." "We are perplexed by this current harassment of our people and call on the state government to intervene" "Chief Jerry Patrick Onuokaibe Is our ìgwè elect and no form of Intimidation can deter us from supporting him"

The Nkanu East Concern Youth, through its National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Ejike Valentine Nnaji JP, expressed concern over the continuous attacks by Enugu State Honourable Commissioner for Science and Technology, Prince Lawrence Ozoemena Ezeh, on the Chairman of Nkanu East Local Government Area, Hon Sydney Okey Edeh. Comrade Nnaji emphasized that the group believes Prince Ezeh is orchestrating media assaults against Hon Sydney Edeh due to the latter's issuance of a certificate of acceptance to Chief Jerry Patrick Onuokaibe as the ìgwè elect of Mburubu community. The National Publicity Secretary asserted that this endorsement was based on empirical evidence and the unanimous approval by Mburubu community leaders, as sanctioned by the village's constitution. The Concern Youth spokesperson revealed additional information, stating, "Prince Ezeh initially sponsored an attack on Hon Sydney Edeh through his PA, Rt Hon Christopher Onyima, accusing him of collecting a whopping bribe of ₦100 million Naira. This outrageous allegation was later withdrawn by the P.G Hon Emma Edeh. Hon Okey Edeh signed the acceptance letter based on empirical evidence provided by the Mburubu leaders that they unanimously endorsed Chief Jerry Patrick Onuokaibe as their ìgwè elect." The Concern Youth expressed bewilderment at the Honourable Commissioner's involvement in local politics, diverting his attention from his responsibilities. Comrade Nnaji remarked, "It's perplexing that the Hon Commissioner would leave his official duties to engage in local politics instead of acting as a father figure." He reportedly attempted with his group to influence the local government chairman with a cow as a bribe, which was declined. Additionally, Prince Ezeh allegedly formed his own faction within the community, raising questions about his intentions and actions, raising concerns about his ethical conduct. Furthermore, the attempt by the faction he created to bribe the local government chairman with a cow speaks to questionable practices. Forming a faction within the community adds another layer to his involvement in local politics." The Concern Nkanu East youth reiterated its caution to Prince Lawrence Ozoemena Ezeh, urging him to focus on his official duties and refrain from further attacks on Hon Sydney Okey Edeh. The group called for unity within the community and emphasized the importance of addressing issues through proper channels, rather than resorting to media confrontations. The Concern Nkanu East Youth, however, seeks a resolution to the ongoing conflict, emphasizing the need for responsible and ethical leadership within the community and the state at large. They also urged Prince Ezeh to collaborate with Chief Jerry Patrick Onuokaibe, the ìgwè elect of Mburubu, to advance his community and abandon the act of causing unnecessary havoc. They also took a jibe at his group's presentation of Chief Linus Igbudu to the council chairman as their ìgwè elect, denouncing it as a misguided move. The stamement reads : **Press Release** *For Immediate Release* **Attention of the National Leadership of Concerned Youths of Nkanu East Local Government Area Drawn to Media Attacks on Hon Sydney Okechukwu** The attention of the National leadership of the Concerned Youths of Nkanu East Local Government Area has been drawn to a series of media attacks on the person of our amiable Local Government Chairman, Hon Sydney Okechukwu, orchestrated by media representatives working for Prince Lawrence Ozoemena Ezeh, the Honourable Commissioner for Science and Technology, Enugu. These premeditated attacks stem from the alleged endorsement of Chief Jerry Patrick Onuokaibe as the ìgwè elect of Mburubu community, a man unanimously endorsed by the leaders of Mburubu. In a blatant misuse of media platforms, media boys associated with Prince Lawrence Ozoemena Ezeh have launched relentless assaults on Hon Sydney Okechukwu. This unwarranted aggression is directly linked to the Chairman's issuance of a certificate of acceptance to Chief Jerry Patrick Onuokaibe, based on empirical evidence and the unanimous approval of Mburubu community leaders, as sanctioned by the village's constitution. Prince Ezeh's media team, through his PA, Rt Hon Christopher Onyima, initially propagated baseless accusations, accusing Hon Sydney Okechukwu of accepting a staggering bribe of ₦100 million Naira. This fabricated allegation was later retracted by the P.G Hon Emma Edeh. Hon Okechukwu signed the acceptance letter based on empirical evidence provided by the Mburubu leaders who unanimously endorsed Chief Jerry Patrick Onuokaibe as their ìgwè elect. The Concerned Youths of Nkanu East condemn in the strongest terms these unwarranted attacks on our Local Government Chairman. We find it deeply troubling that a serving Honourable Commissioner, responsible for Science and Technology, would resort to such divisive tactics, diverting attention from his official duties. The alleged attempt by Prince Ezeh to influence the local government chairman with a cow as a bribe, which was reportedly declined, further raises questions about the Commissioner's intentions and actions, casting doubt on his ethical conduct. The formation of a faction within the community by Prince Ezeh's group adds another layer to his involvement in local politics, raising concerns about his commitment to ethical practices. The National Leadership of Concerned Youths of Nkanu East hereby issues a strong caution to Prince Lawrence Ozoemena Ezeh, urging him to focus on his official duties and refrain from further attacks on Hon Sydney Okechukwu. We call for unity within the community and emphasize the importance of addressing issues through proper channels, advocating against resorting to media confrontations. In conclusion, the Concerned Youths of Nkanu East seek a swift resolution to the ongoing conflict, stressing the need for responsible and ethical leadership within the community and the state at large. We call upon Prince Lawrence Ozoemena Ezeh to collaborate with Chief Jerry Patrick Onuokaibe, the ìgwè elect of Mburubu, to advance the community and desist from causing unnecessary discord. This press release is directly communicated and signed by: **Comrade Ejike Valentine Nnaji, JP** **National Publicity Secretary,** **Concerned Youths of Nkanu East**

The Mburubu community in Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State finds itself at a crossroads as internal dissent threatens to undermine the recently elected ìgwè, Chief Patrick Jerry Onuokaibe. Under the umbrella of Nzukọ ndị Ọzọ Mburubu, the community members have issued a resounding reaffirmation of their support for Chief Onuokaibe, accusing dissenters of pursuing personal gains over the community's welfare. In a press release jointly signed by National Chairman Chief Chinedu Ezechukwu (Ọzọ ebubedike na Mburubu) and National Secretary Comrade Chukwudi Sylvanus (Ọzọ omemgboji na Mburubu), the group declared that any entity opposing Chief Onuokaibe's nomination does so for self-interest, not the community's well-being. The statement singled out Prince Oz Ezeh as the main detractor, alleging that he aims to turn the community into his personal fiefdom. The Mburubu Nzukọ ndị ọzọ categorically rejected a recent communiqué by the self-proclaimed Mburubu Council of Chiefs disowning Chief Patrick Onuokaibe as the ìgwè-elect. According to them, "Chief Onuokaibe's nomination resulted from a unanimous decision by community leaders and enjoys broad endorsement." "Despite the overwhelming support from Mburubu leaders, Prince Oz Ezeh remains an outlier, driven by personal motives that do not align with the community's best interests." The Nzukọ ndị ọzọ condemned Ezeh's alleged attempt to monopolize leadership for personal gain, asserting that Mburubu cannot be a pawn in his personal disputes. The group reiterated the community's firm decision in choosing Chief Jerry Patrick Onuokaibe as their ìgwè and denounced any attempts to undermine this choice. Thus, dismissing the claims of the Mburubu Council of Chiefs as lacking merit, the Nzukọ ndị ọzọ asserted their integral role in the community's decision-making process. The press release called on Chief Jerry Patrick Onuokaibe to disregard the assertions made by the Mburubu Council of Chiefs, affirming the legitimacy of the Mburubu General Assembly in presenting an Ìgwè-Elect. It concluded with a strong plea for the restoration of unity within the community. "Accusations of deceit in media publications by the Mburubu Council of Chiefs were labeled as baseless, diverting attention from genuine community concerns. The Mburubu Nzukọ ndị ọzọ remains steadfast in its support for Chief Jerry Patrick Onuokaibe and urges the community to come together in unity," they concluded.

The Deputy National Chairman (South), of All Progressives Congress, Chief Emma Eneukwu, has advised Nigerian workers to always toe the line of due process and ensure their services to the nation are hinged on the principles of probity, coherence and rectitude. Chief Eneukwu, who said this on Sunday in a Worker’s Day message, sent to newsmen in Enugu, stated that the role of workers in the gathering, processing and utilisation of the country’s commonwealth is climacteric and thus, should always be applauded. He also stated that the administration of the ruling All Progressives Congress APC under President Muhammadu Buhari has prioritised the welfare of workers since its inception. While commending the workers on their faith and support towards the developmental agenda of the APC, Eneukwu, disclosed that workers’ unalloyed commitment contributed to the accomplishment of the rolled out programmes of APC for Nigerians. He said, “I celebrate all the Nigerian workers today because they are an integral part of every success that leadership of my great party, the All Progressives Congress has given to Nigerians. “It is an incontrovertible fact that the success of any country’s leader, is seriously dependent and determined by the type, quality as well as commitment of workers available to that leader. “It is also an acknowledged fact that Nigerian workers are always active, sedulous, tireless and industrious people, whose activities are very paramount in championing the growth of our country. “It is on this note that, I salute all the workaholic Nigerian Workers, especially, those that are based in the southern part of the country, as the world celebrates them today. “As you all know, the all-inclusive governance provided to Nigerians by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) under the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari has always prioritised the welfare of workers, because, it understands their major role in nation-building and governance. “The APC led Federal Government has in her quest to promote the efficiency and service delivery by our workers, approved of the current national minimum wage without hesitation, ensured timely payment of salaries and emoluments, timely promotion of workers, increment in hazard allowance to health workers and others, increment of teachers salaries, constant payment of gratuities, clearing of all arrears of salaries amongst others. “All these and more were made to acknowledge the importance of workers in nation-building and ensure that, they are given a sense of belonging. “We could recall that, when hardship occasioned by the outbreak of coronavirus became so though on all Nigerians including our workers, that, APC led federal government, set up a Presidential Economic Sustainability Committee (ESC) with the objective of developing a credible sustainability plan for repositioning the Nigerian economy now and post Covid-19 crisis period. “The ESC was required to specifically explore ways and means of growing our non-oil sector – all in a bid to minimise the adverse effects of the coronavirus outbreak and to also protect existing jobs and even create new jobs to help absorb the teeming unemployed even before the crises. “It was one of the first in Africa which were applauded and its benefits helped in reducing the hardship effect of the pandemic “ “There is no government by any political party in Nigeria that has done more good to Nigerian workers, other than that of APC led by President Muhammadu Buhari,” he said. Hon Eneukwu also enjoined state Governors, to adopt President Muhammadu Buhari’s approach to solving workers’ problems. He appealed to all the striking workers to reconsider their stance for the overall interest of the nation and give the Federal Government a little time to attend to their yearnings and address all issues raised by them. He also encouraged Nigerian workers to participate in the ongoing Continuous Voters Registration, CVR before the current fourth and last phase of the exercise elapses in June. He however urged INEC to move CVR centres to federal, state and local Government secretariats to enable the Nigerian Workers who are so occupied with work, to participate.

OF NKANU PEOPLE'S ASSEMBLY AND THE INGLORIOUS ACTS OF SHIFTING THE GOAL POSTS AND ISSUING THREATS The Attention of Nsukka Youth Council has been drawn to an Announcement made by an emergency organization which described itself as Nkanu People's Assembly, where they invented lies to discredit the Apex Social Cultural Organization of Nsukka people, the Nsukka General Assembly. In the announcement signed by one Prof. Osita Nnamani Ogbu, the Nkanu People's Assembly arrogated to itself the power to determine what is and what is not the responsibility of Nsukka General Assembly, by stating that it's not the Responsibility of NGA to be involved in the Zoning and micro-zoning of the gubernatorial position, in a state where Nsukka has the largest population and landmass. It's not just an insult that Nkanu People's Assembly thinks they are in a position to tell Nsukka General Assembly and other groups what their responsibility should be, but also an affront on the entire people of Enugu State for them to reduce the position of the next Governor of Enugu State to their clannish affair, as if the next Governor of Enugu State will be the governor of only Nkanu People. For proper context, it's the Right, Duty and Responsibility of Nsukka General Assembly to be ACTIVELY involved in ALL decision making processes of who becomes the Governor of Enugu State. It's also appalling that Nkanu People's Assembly in a move propelled by arrogance and illusory superiority, intends to change the goal post when Justice, Equity and Fairness does not favour their clandestine motives, by trying to reduce the exalted position of the Governor of Enugu State to an exhibition party where each of the LGAs in Enugu East will exhibit why the governor should come from their LGA. This attempt to insult the intelligence of the entire people of Enugu State by Nkanu People's Assembly should be condemned and thrown to the waste bin where it belongs. In a rotation amongst the three Senatorial Zones in Enugu State, it's sacrosanct that it's the turn of Enugu East Senatorial Zone to produce the governor of Enugu State. It's in the same way that the only Federal Constituency in Enugu East that is yet to produce a Governor is Enugu East/Isi-Uzo Federal Constituency, and in that manner, Isi-Uzo have only gotten less than 5% of the things meant for that Constituency in the last 23 years, while Enugu East enjoyed over 95%. Therefore, it's obvious to even the blind, deaf and lame, that it's the turn of Isi Ụzọ Local Government to present the Governor of Enugu State. Nkanu People's Assembly is hereby admonished to abstain from all comments and moves capable of painting them as people of double standards blinded by selfishness, illusory superiority, arrogance and lack of respect for their compatriots who have done nothing but show them immense love, brotherhood and equality, not minding the fact that they are the minority of all the cultural groups in the State. Finally, we call on all the good people of our beloved State, the leaders and Masses alike to see beyond 2023 and sustain the love, peace and harmony by which we are known for, by ensuring that Justice, Equity and Fairness prevails. Sign: Eya Vinicius Ekene National President.

SOUTH EAST APC LEADERS, BEG NGIGE TO CONTEST FOR PRESIDENCY. Ifeanyi Agbo The issue of who becomes the flag bearer for the ruling All Progressives Congress APC has taken the centre stage since the party concluded her National convention. Recall that the party had already zoned their Presidential slot to the South without mention of any particular zone there. So many South East leaders in the party have already declared their interest to vie for the position which includes :Governor Dave Nweze Umahi, Senator Orji Uzo Kalu, Senator Rochas Okorocha, Skc Ogbonnia, Ogbonnya Onu, Hon Emeka Nwajiuba, amongst others. All these declaration cannot be exonerated from the lamentation that the next President of Nigeria from southern extraction, should come from the South East part of the country, as other zones from the region, had taken their own part at the highest seat in the country. The leadership of the South East Progressives Forum, have equally joined the call for the emergence of a South East President in the country through APC, saying that, the Best man for the Job is the current Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Nwabueze Ngige. In a statement signed by her National President and Secretary, Hon Dr Cc Ubah and Hon Ofordi Victor Nwankwo and sent to newsmen on Tuesday from their Office at 80 Agbani Road, Enugu, they stated that, APC needs to gịve Nigerians, an experienced, Progressive and grassroot mobiliser like Chris Ngige as her flag bearer, so as to retain her position as the ruling party in the country as well as the largest Political party in the continent. They stated that, the minister's leadership prowess, ability to manage crisis, grassroot acceptability as well as status as a renowned leader, has distinguished him amongst other aspirants in the party. They wondered why the Labour and Employment Minister is yet to make his intentions known, as he is also someone that will reward the efforts of the foundation members of the party when elected. According to them " " The South East Progressives forum is endorsing the calls for an emergence of Nigeria President from South East extraction" "We are aware that, This can only be feasible in APC, being a party that has shown fairness and justice to all the zones in the country" "We understand that a lot of leaders from the southern part of the country, have shown their interest in having a shot at the highest Office in the country, through the party" "But we are also aware that, APC as a party, can only Show that they are different from other political parties, by micro zoning the position to the South East" "We have seen a lot of South East leaders in APC, like :Governor Dave Umahi, Sen Orji Ụzọ Kalu, Sen Rochas Okorocha, Dr Ogbonna Onu, Hon Emeka Nwajiuba, Skc Ogbonnia, amongst others, officially and unofficially, declaring their interest to run for the Presidency " " We have looked at the achievements made so far by the administration of President Mohammadu Buhari and discovered that, the only person who can Capitalise on them and make further progress is Senator Chris Nwabueze Ngige " " Sen Ngige is a leader per Excellence, a grassroot person, an astute administrator and also, a foundation member of the party " " He has done noble in his office as a Minister, who has been regarded as one of the Best in this administration, owing to his commitment in the Nigerian Project as contained in the policies of President Mohammadu Buhari " " Sen Ngige is the Best amongst the equal and we want him to go and make a difference " South East Progressives also stated that, the recent acceptance and endorsement of Sen Ngige by the igbo leaders in the 19 Northern States, is a sign that, there is no hiding place for a golden stone. They however, called on the minister, to hear their calls, declare, win and make Nigeria better ; as Nigerians yearn for a president like Ngige as Buhari's successor. "We are in tandem with the support and endorsement that was recently given to Sen Ngige by Igbo leaders in the 19 Northern States of the Federation" "Such an endorsement is a sign that, he is the Best Igbo man for the Job" "We call on Sen Chris Ngige, to declare and run for the office and deliver the dividends of democracy to all Nigerians" "We believe that, Sen Ngige is the only Igbo man who would replace Buhari and move the country forward" "He would equally remember the party grassroot members"

According to her; "We are here to congratulate the new NPA boss on his emergence and to equally, find ways of working together with NPA , to handle issues bordering on piracy " " The piracy menace is a very tasking issue in the country and it has affected the book industry " " On the other hand, NCC 's biggest challenge is manpower and Finance" "We are seriously under staffed and active in only 14 states of the Federation" "In some States, we have only 2 Staff which makes our work harder" "We in the South South and South East Directorate, are working to partner with book chain practitioners and security agencies to curb the menace of piracy." Also speaking, a board member of the NCC and Former Vice President of the Nigerian Publishers Association (NPA), Sir Jesse Odu stated that, Publishers are not helping the Nigerian Copyright Commission that much and urged the publishers to much more. He stated that, NCC also, should get to work irrespective of their financial challenges because currently, they no longer Monitor what happens at different press firms the way they are supposed to. "Printing presses are supposed to register their names with NCC," he said. "If there is one who prints without having printing approval, such a person should be arrested "NPA on their own, should also work harder to encourage NCC as their works are interrelated and interdependent."
