Health / Re: PHOTOS: Doctors Treat 19 Striking Health Workers Involved In Motor Accident by kizydafizy(m): 6:55pm On May 20, 2018
My friend, you're wrong. It's not the doctor's normal job to suture wounds without the proper instruments, handling needles with just bare hands. It's hazardous to the doctor. They endangered their lives. And that's because the suturing packs necessary for such procedures were locked up by the JOHESU members. No one pays the doctors to kill themselves. They're not the equivalent of suicide bombers.

Deltayankeeboi:
so because the accident victims are doctors career rivals, you are trying to stress the fact that they were still treated by the doctors they have issues with.

really? were they treated for free? won't the doctors get paid for doing their job.

so the doctors deserve accolades for doing their normal job by treating johesu accident victims even when they are not at peace with themselves.

the doctors will get paid for their work. I see no reason for your sarcastic post.

you must be a very foolish blogger.

would it kill you to say "accident victims treated by doctors" why stress the point that they are johesu members as you claim.

inciting hatred and contempt with your nonsense twisted story.

Take your eye-service post and shove it in your asshole.

You are just another Hungry blogger

Health / Lassa Fever: At A Glance! (by: Drkelshow) by kizydafizy(m): 5:13pm On Jan 18, 2016
January 18, 2016
I guess i should have done this before now, call me #lastma, but my dear, it is not easy mixing business/work and blogging….. sorry i am late, thanks for understanding.

2016 has been eventful, notably (at least to me) was the amazing Alibaba Concert emerging with Comedian Dee One as winner of the spontaneity competition; Then Bovi”s Towel stunt on stage then the very controversial one between Olamide and Don jazzy which ended well, thank God (wonder how i know all of this? well, Doctor no mean say i no dey updated)

Then along came Lassa Fever.

Titbits you should know about Lassa Fever.

It is a highly fatal infectious disease caused by Lassa Virus. The multimammate rat (Mastomys natalensis) is the reservoir host of Lassa fever.

Case fatality rate varies from as low as 1%-25% to as high as 50%. The death rates are particularly high for women in the third trimester of pregnancy and for fetuses, about 95% of which die in the uterus of infected pregnant mothers.

Cases have been reported in some states in Nigeria in January 2016 which includes Bauchi, Kano, Nassarawa, Niger, Rivers and Taraba. The First Case of Lassa Fever was confirmed in Lagos State in LUTH (Lagos university Teaching Hospital) just a few days ago.

How does one contract the infection?

Ingestion of food contaminated by Lassa virus

contact with body fluid, faeces or blood infected persons

through broken skin or mucous membranes that are directly exposed to infectious material

contaminated medical equipment

sexual transmission ( this has not being clearly established)

inhalation of tiny particles of infectious material (aerosol)

How do you know someone has this infection?

High grade fever

headaches

generalized body pain

sore throat

cough

malaise

vomiting

Bleeding from the eyes, ears and nose, bleeding mouth and rectum

Eye swelling, swelling of the genitals and rashes all over the body that often contain blood.

What are the possible complications?

Coma

Shock

Death.

when to suspect that someone might have this infection

Acutely ill person with the above named symptoms

someone who has been recently treated for malaria or upper respiratory tract infections without improvement (cough, cold, sore throat, etc)

history of travel to affected regions

contact with some with Lassa fever

Is there any available treatment for Lassa fever?

Early and aggressive treatment with Ribavirin, fatality rates are continuing to decline. After extensive testing, early administration of Ribavirin was determined to be critical to success but the cost of the drug is still very high for many of those in West African states. Alternatively, fluid replacement, blood transfusion, and fighting hypotension [Low blood pressure] are usually required. Intravenous interferon therapy has also been used.

How can one prevent contracting Lassa Fever?

Standard infection prevention and control policies amongst medical personnels viz washing of hands regularly, use of personal protection equipment (gloves and gowns), use of face shield, medical mask and googles, long sleeved gowns and gloves

Getting rid of rodents from your environment

proper storage of grains and other food stuffs in rodent proof containers (tightly covered plastic containers)

Avoid contact between rats and human beings.

Food manufacturers and handlers should not spread food where rats can have access to it. Emphasis on garri. It is advocated that soaking of garri should be suspended except garri from a reliable source, preferably those properly processed and packaged in Satchets.

Fellow Nigerians, we need to be vigilant. Any suspected case should be reported to any health care closest to you.

On this forum, folks argued that Governor Rochas Okorocha's cabinet was too big plus Chief Comedian of the State office grin, why are this achievements a surprise? Infact me thinks he has underachieved considering the 100 projects/per cabinet numbers but am not surprised. The government stated clearly that projects like the Okigwe Market are just at an initial stage to commence this month or October and folks are asking for pictures?

Pictures don't tell any story, we can have Owerri/Onitsha road pictures but it says nothing, it doesn't tell us how much spent? Cost of human lives wasted? Or even why did it take 10 years for the FG?

The real question should be at what cost? How efficient and effective to the Imo people? How many folks will be employed by the rehabilitated industries? etc not pictures, Ohakim deceived us with pictures.

I am a Rochas supporter and I believe in what he can achieve but I prefer numbers.

HOUSING
56. Conversion of the Parliamentarian quarters to Concord Hotel Annex
57. Conversion of Banquet Hall to Government House Chapel
58. Design and construction of Heroes Square
59. Design and construction of Ikemba Ojukwu Convention Center, Owerri
60. Renovation of Commissioners’ Quarters
61. Reconstruction of Multi-Purpose Hall and V.I.P Lounge, Government House
62. Reconstruction of Imo State House of Assembly
63. Reconstruction of the Exco Chambers Building
64. Renovation of the Imo Concorde Hotel
65. Reconstruction of the Abuja Laison Office of the Imo State Government
66. Reconstruction of the Brigade Commander’s Guest House
67. Renovation of the Imo State Police Commissioner’s Guest House
68. Renovation of the abandoned Governor’s Lounge, near Concorde Hotel
69. Design and construction of Multi-purpose Hall at Oguta Motel
70. Reconstruction of the Customary Court, Owerri

Of course he would have a very long list if these are the achievements they are talking about. Renovation of this and that guest houses,  and they labelled this under HOUSING? Housing for themselves or the masses are we joking?

Well I dont have anything against Rochas any way but he should discourage this kind of propaganda and do real work or may be mention only the "mentionable" there for example project number 58, 59 and maybe also 64&69 cos the hotel can generate revenue for the state while the multipurpose hall could be used by the citizen (if it is affordable enough). I think the rest is garbage, it shouldnt be on the list

I don't think he's aware of the long list. He's not even in the country right now. The newly graduated medical doctors were supposed to be inducted 2 days ago (Saturday), but that had to be postponed pending his return. Like I said before, I can bear testimony to some of the items in that list. But, I won't be his town-crier. . .I can only wish him well, & hope he remains steadfast!
Politics / Re: 100 Days Achievements Of Governor Rochas Of Imo State by kizydafizy(m): 3:17pm On Sep 11, 2011
I can attest to d fact dat some of these "achievements" were made. D ones relating 2 d health sector, d claims concerning d graduated medical students, d issue of accreditation 4 schools of nursing & engineering, etc, r all true! But having said dat, I dnt condone dis perpetual practice of blowing Rochas' trumpet all d time. He's been doin really well, but he still has more to do. . .& I just can't wait 4 d day he'll realise it's high time he got rid of his greedy/corrupt SSG. So I'll not indulge in d constant worship/accolades, I'd rather continue to pray 4 God's wisdom to always dwell on him, as he relentlessly pilots d affairs of d state!

Health / Re: Are Medical Contact Lenses Really Safe by kizydafizy(m): 9:22pm On Sep 07, 2011
sasi_malia:

Don't worry if there is somebody that values their eyes most, it would be me. Most people have no idea what its like to have serious eye issues for most their life, for as long as they can remember. The ones I wear are made for extended wear for 30 days, I do not have to take it out once a week, I just do by caution. Extended wear contact lenses are made for people who can't handle daily wear, and I am one of them. I can assure you that they help me see my dreams clearer grin grin grin Just joking. But seriously it's great opening your eyes in the morning and being able to see like everybody else, instead of looking for your glasses (which my husband used to move around sometimes to tease me, knowing that I put them at the same spot before bed every single day so I don't have to ask for help to look for them since I can't look for it myself).
Anyways make sure you get your eye doctor to prescribe exactly what will work for you and your lifestyle. This is not the 90s anymore and there are countless options and a large variety of soft contact lens. Depending on your location the options you have might be limited, not sure. But listen carefully to your eye doctor. Contact are not for everyone I would def not advise wearing any if you don't have a medical problem that justifies it.
And if you can function without glasses or lenses, bless Baba God and don't ever take it for granted because other people like me were not so fortunate. At least I can see cheesy

If I begin to mention the array of eye problems I have eh. . .they're really jam packed! Anyway, I hate being on glasses as they make me look (or rather, feel) like an impostor. 2months ago I opted for powered contacts. It wasn't easy @ 1st getting used to the ordeal of practically poking my hands into my extremely sensitive eyes. But I'm really okay with them now. Infact, I just took them off for the day. Tomorrow they'll resume work again. . .no time!
