Pls i really need a reply on this because it goes a long way in helping me

Hi all,
i wnt 2 knw if an industrial engr has a role to play in the oil and gas companies.i graduated in course. During my I.T training,i was oppurtuned 2 do it in an oil company -SHELL NIGERIA EXPLORATION AND PRODUCTION COMPANY.In shell,it beats me that some industrial related work are carried out by mechanical engrs.i tried asking the staff there but they all confirmed that their job are mostly industrial work,yet SHELL prefers recruiting mechanical engineers.i want to knw if this is true.i have tried checking the job/vacancy thread for industrial engr vacancies but all i see is mechanical engr vacancies. Pls do u think there's hope 4 the industrial engrs in the oil and gas firms? Thanx

I find it difficult to undastand why the oil sectors in nigeria don't call industrial prod engr graduates,rather they capitalize on mechanical,electrical,chem and civil engr.despite the fact that mech and ind productn engr are somehow similar. pls quote me if am wrong.
