nothing wrong in rehabilitating that important rd and building the rail though I dont see that happening (building rail) unless done by fg
All I see is lack of will power. If investing concerns find it worthwhile, theywill gladly put up their money and become owners of one of the busiest corridors in nigeria.

Enugu and anambra can do that but non will be as strategic and busy and Enugu Onitsha dual carraigeway
Why not build rail lines instead of road. The 2 states can invite investors to do that and it will not cost them anything just the right of way.

Basically the bishop is rechoing chiamanda' " the dangers of one story" .. The change in governance in this country has always been on the premise of corruption...a one story...emotion filled propaganda that always ends on a sad note.

He wants the nation and the citizens to move beyond ..one story...phenom and build institutions for tomorrow and not get caught with the euphoria of today.

His subject is about us the citizens who have become complicit and lazy in our attitudes and have reduced our being as mere willing tools of the "next Messiah".

PoliticsRe: Tribalism And Religion Fanaticism Is Killing This Nation by kmariko: 2:36pm On Oct 03, 2015
Unity of a nation or unity of purpose from differing ethnicities in a space comes with mutual respect and sincere recognition of the aspirations of the other. Mutual respect within that space depends on the foundation created to accommodate the aspirations of these very differing ethnicities....Sadly Nigeria as a nation have not come to address that thus the lack of unity and unity of purpose among us.

Each successive leader or leaders merely expoilted the emotional content of our being ..religion and ethnicity to further their stay in power NOT to unite us.

I understand that idealism of the OP, unfortunately idealism remains ideal as long as the basic principle of which nations as diverse as ours are founded are negated by the same people that crave unity.

You get unity from me when you credit my dreams within the polity not when you see it as debt I must pay.

Redesign the foundation and see your dream nation flourish until then is just another dream.

Read this. What this guy wrote is a reflection of the feelings of other Nigerians about Igbos. If you ask him the domineering attitude he will not be able to explain but I know from experience that it is high presence of Igbos and there being ever ready to buy land and build in host community.

https://www.nairaland.com/2623993/igbos-liability-nigeria

How come amongst the ethnic groups that are usually
attacked in the north, why is it that igbos are mainly
attacked? This is due to their domineering attitude, urge
to dominate other ethnic groups and the lack of respect
they have for the host community of anywhere they find
themselves. For instance, let's use Lagos as a case
study. Lagos is the home of Yoruba/Awori/Ijebu people
and even when lagos was conquered by the British in
1861 from King Kosoko was it an igbo territory? Was the
name Kosoko an igbo name? Were they any igbo
indigenous communities in lagos then? If No, why call a
man's land no man's land? Can a yoruba, edo, urhobo or
hausa call any part of igboland no man's land simply cos
he was allowed to thrive in that land?
Please sir can you define or explain the the term nation or country to inexperienced like myself. Just need some clarification if you don't mind.

Microsoft headquareters is in Seattle, Washington while Cocacola is in Atalnta Georgia. If these companies were in Nigeria, they would be in Lagos and Lagos only. They could only venture into ogun state owing to it's closeness to lagos. We operate like the united Kingdom where almost everything is centered in London. This means that other states have to carve a niche for themselves to be taken seriously by organizations. Calabar has done that with tourism. For some reason, Calabar is the most popular city after Lagos, Abuja and Porthacourt despite the fact that interms of development, Enugu beats it imo.
Well that does not explain why HSBC is moving from London to Birmingham, Boeing from Seattle to Chicago
Airbus is not based in Paris, and their other countless companies in those "one city countries" you alluded to.
Mention Japan and everybody knows Tokyo but how many Japanese companies beyond the financials have Tokyo as the base for their operations. You will really be surprised.

Thanks for bringing this up. Nigeria was not built like America. Unlike America, Nigeria is a one city state where the federal government decides where develops and where doesn't.
Come on now afam, thats not the issue. Toyota is in Nagoya not even in Tokyo or Osaka,VW is not even in Berlin or Frankfurt. So the point is that the reasons you advanced for not planting these companies in the East is not a very cogent one in my opinion. We all agree that structurally Nigeria is a non starter, but within that structure companies can and do somewhat thrive beyond the imperfections and tribal induced promotion of some parts of the country.

Enugu and Owerri don't have anything UNIQUE to offer Leo Stan Eke of Zinox apart from the fact that they are cities in Igboland where he comes from. We must desist from this emotional request for investment. people should be made to invest because they have something to benefit and not because they owe it to Igboland. Do you think if Enugu was on the same level with lagos, Igbos would rather invest in Lagos? I don't think so. They're in Lagos for a reason. We can keep lying to ourselves as much as we want. Until we start telling ourselves the truth, we will remain in square one.

They didn't 'believe in themselves', they sat back and soaked in all the blood their fellow western Europeans were drenching from all over the globe. Those people are rich by default, Switzerland is basically ethnically French and German, Austria is Germanic, so they can afford to be landlocked, especially with their disposition allowing foreigners to amass mounds of wealth in their countries with no questions asked. You can't compare Austria and Switzerland to Igboland.
Mr. Nestle was not rich by using peoples money.. Brown and boveri used there business acumen and the list goes on... No group of individuals are rich " by default ". You have to work extremely hard to maintain that affluence even if it was handed over to you on a silver platter.

They believed in themselves and ability to overcome at all odds. They stayed away from all the destructive alliances that bedeviled waring European nations. They focused on making things, food processing (nestle), steel, textile, machines that make other machines, electric machineries ABD, financials and Commodity trading... The list is endless.

Food and lack of access to the sea/port is what killed Biafra, it's the same reason why people are running away and building castles in foreign lands. Until there is a viable port in Igboland, Igbo people won't come back and that's just practical.
Kindly remind me of the ports of Switzerland.. Not investing in the east by the easterners due to " lack of access to seaport" is a very lame excuse.

"Beasts of No Nation" is the first of many original films Netflix is releasing on the big screen, and on their streaming service, in the coming years. Written and directed by Fukunaga, "Beasts of No Nation" is based on Nigerian author Uzodinma Iweala's novel of the same name. The drama follows newcomer Abraham Attah's Agu, a young child soldier who is forced to join a group of rebel fighters after his family is torn apart by a civil war in West Africa. In the first teaser for the film, Idris Elba's warlord Commandant tells Abu to kill the man who murdered his father. The emotional teaser is reminiscent of the intense gang initiation scene from 2002's "City of God," and is a strong indication of some awards recognition for Netflix, and maybe even young Attah.

PoliticsRe: Igbos Were Actually Described As Practising Jews. by kmariko: 6:28am On Jul 25, 2015
ezeagu:
Before British colonisation there was no knowledge of any Israel or Jewish origin anywhere in Nigeria. I've told you that the so called cultural links are very generic and can be found in cultures around the world and Igbo people have had their genes analysed and there is no relationship with them and the Middle East, in fact the Igbo are unsurprisingly closely related to people around them, there is no single trace of genetics from Israel, such that has been found in other ethnic groups confirmed to have Jewish ancestry like the Lemba people and Ethiopian Jews. We're trying to tell you that are many communities in Igboland that not only recognise Nri, but are completely oblivious to who they are or what their history was, therefore how can a people be the cornerstone of Igbo cultures when they are so diverse and so many?

Even if all you said about Nri were true, the point remains that the things Arochukwu introduced later on became more relevant to the communities they influenced, such as ekpe and okonko. Still, Nri influence from just 1000 years ago does not inform us of the origin of the Igbo people, if that is what you're getting at, because there is evidence of cultures that have existed in Igboland thousands of years before Nri.

This is one of the reasons why I hate this Jewish link theory, you people don't actually realise that you are belittling yourselves by attaching your origins to a people that are not only younger than you but received the information for them to build their civilisation several millennia after you. One such sites of this knowledge in Igboland can be found at Lejja in Enugu State where the Iron age started before anywhere else, meaning there were a group of people smelting iron before Israel was even thought of: http://www.i360limited.com/tour-nigeria/south-east/enugu/lejja-iron-smelting-kingdom-i360-virtual-tour-nigeria

There's a number of other archaeological evidence of civilisation in Igboland thousands of years before Israel or Judah.
Its really difficult trying to educate these "Ibo Jews" that they are actually reducing their being to a nullity. Why not that the Jews came from Igbo land?. What's the special attachment to Jews. What's so difficult about just being an Igbo period.
PoliticsPresident Buhari's Math Problem by kmariko(op): 3:58pm On Jul 22, 2015
A few days ago while in USA, President Buhari informed the world that 150 billion dollars was stolen from Nigeria through corruption over the past decade.

Today, President Buhari said "that documents revealed that some top government officials moved as much as one million barrels of crude oil per day for their personal purposes".

Lets do some math.
[Assumptions first

Some top officials. == 5 officials minimum each 1 million barrels

Years in review. === 5 years minimum

Average price of crude==== 80 dollars.

1,000,000 per day * 80 dollars = 80 million dollars a day
80 million * 5 officials = 400 million a day
400 million * 365 days === 146,000 million
146, 000 million * 5 years === 730,000 million dollars
730,000 million dollars === 730 billion dollars

So is it 150 or 730 billion dollars that the nation lost through corrrupt practices.

As a President who prides himself as being methodical, " slow and steady" why not wait till the investigations are over and present a clear succint evidence to the citizens. Right now nobody knows who or what to believe.
PoliticsHow Did President Buhari Arrive At 150 Billion Dollar Figure by kmariko(op): 10:11pm On Jul 21, 2015
Is the 150 billion the amount deemed to be missing from an audit from a reputable company from 1960 to date.
Is the 150 billion dollars the actual dollar amount missing from Nigeria's Treasury
Is the 150 billion the estimated amount lost from productivity from 1960 to date
Is the 150 billion from public and private institutions combined.
Is the 150 billion traceable to individuals and institutions both here at home and abroad.
What are the names of individuals and institutions responsible for the loss.
How much are these individuals and institutions responsible.

This is a democracy we need verifiable answers.
