asha80:All I see is lack of will power. If investing concerns find it worthwhile, theywill gladly put up their money and become owners of one of the busiest corridors in nigeria. |
asha80:Why not build rail lines instead of road. The 2 states can invite investors to do that and it will not cost them anything just the right of way. |

Nigeria accepting aid in 21 century instead of industries... Pathetic |
Basically the bishop is rechoing chiamanda' " the dangers of one story" .. The change in governance in this country has always been on the premise of corruption...a one story...emotion filled propaganda that always ends on a sad note. He wants the nation and the citizens to move beyond ..one story...phenom and build institutions for tomorrow and not get caught with the euphoria of today. His subject is about us the citizens who have become complicit and lazy in our attitudes and have reduced our being as mere willing tools of the "next Messiah". |

Unity of a nation or unity of purpose from differing ethnicities in a space comes with mutual respect and sincere recognition of the aspirations of the other. Mutual respect within that space depends on the foundation created to accommodate the aspirations of these very differing ethnicities....Sadly Nigeria as a nation have not come to address that thus the lack of unity and unity of purpose among us. Each successive leader or leaders merely expoilted the emotional content of our being ..religion and ethnicity to further their stay in power NOT to unite us. I understand that idealism of the OP, unfortunately idealism remains ideal as long as the basic principle of which nations as diverse as ours are founded are negated by the same people that crave unity. You get unity from me when you credit my dreams within the polity not when you see it as debt I must pay. Redesign the foundation and see your dream nation flourish until then is just another dream. |
I thought the rightful thing to do is for the governor's wife to take him to court. The police I believe have no reason to arrest him. It is simply a case of defamation of character a civil case. |
Abagworo:Am asking your understanding of what a nation state is or country not the Webster version, which I don't know whether thier definition is at variance with yours.. Reading your inferences there seems to be some disagreement. |
Abagworo:Please sir can you define or explain the the term nation or country to inexperienced like myself. Just need some clarification if you don't mind. |
Afam4eva:Well that does not explain why HSBC is moving from London to Birmingham, Boeing from Seattle to Chicago Airbus is not based in Paris, and their other countless companies in those "one city countries" you alluded to. Mention Japan and everybody knows Tokyo but how many Japanese companies beyond the financials have Tokyo as the base for their operations. You will really be surprised. |
Afam4eva:Come on now afam, thats not the issue. Toyota is in Nagoya not even in Tokyo or Osaka,VW is not even in Berlin or Frankfurt. So the point is that the reasons you advanced for not planting these companies in the East is not a very cogent one in my opinion. We all agree that structurally Nigeria is a non starter, but within that structure companies can and do somewhat thrive beyond the imperfections and tribal induced promotion of some parts of the country. |
Afam4eva:1. A high educated populace 2. Many High institutions for collaborative research. 3. Low tax base 4. Comparative high standard of living . 5.more natural and low stress environment. 6. Low crime rate. 7. Etc.etc.etc |
Afam4eva:People like me wonders why one of the biggest companies in world Walmart has their HQ in Arkansas instead of NYC,Chicago or Houston if we take your line of thought |
ezeagu:Mr. Nestle was not rich by using peoples money.. Brown and boveri used there business acumen and the list goes on... No group of individuals are rich " by default ". You have to work extremely hard to maintain that affluence even if it was handed over to you on a silver platter. |
ezeagu:They believed in themselves and ability to overcome at all odds. They stayed away from all the destructive alliances that bedeviled waring European nations. They focused on making things, food processing (nestle), steel, textile, machines that make other machines, electric machineries ABD, financials and Commodity trading... The list is endless. |
ezeagu:Kindly remind me of the ports of Switzerland.. Not investing in the east by the easterners due to " lack of access to seaport" is a very lame excuse. |
What's is amazing is that nobody to date has listed any policies of GEJ that is illegal or unconstitutional. You might not like the policies of a President becuase it offends your morality but that does not make it illegal. Illegal policies or acts are what impeachment was designed for. |
What happened to DICON |
A fanatic fan of K action movies.,., I think they are the best. anyone know the most current at the moment |
Click to watch the trailer "Beasts of No Nation" is the first of many original films Netflix is releasing on the big screen, and on their streaming service, in the coming years. Written and directed by Fukunaga, "Beasts of No Nation" is based on Nigerian author Uzodinma Iweala's novel of the same name. The drama follows newcomer Abraham Attah's Agu, a young child soldier who is forced to join a group of rebel fighters after his family is torn apart by a civil war in West Africa. In the first teaser for the film, Idris Elba's warlord Commandant tells Abu to kill the man who murdered his father. The emotional teaser is reminiscent of the intense gang initiation scene from 2002's "City of God," and is a strong indication of some awards recognition for Netflix, and maybe even young Attah. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/teaser-beasts-of-no-nation_55ba35b2e4b0af35367a64c1? |

ezeagu:Its really difficult trying to educate these "Ibo Jews" that they are actually reducing their being to a nullity. Why not that the Jews came from Igbo land?. What's the special attachment to Jews. What's so difficult about just being an Igbo period. |
A few days ago while in USA, President Buhari informed the world that 150 billion dollars was stolen from Nigeria through corruption over the past decade. Today, President Buhari said "that documents revealed that some top government officials moved as much as one million barrels of crude oil per day for their personal purposes". Lets do some math. [Assumptions first Some top officials. == 5 officials minimum each 1 million barrels Years in review. === 5 years minimum Average price of crude==== 80 dollars. 1,000,000 per day * 80 dollars = 80 million dollars a day 80 million * 5 officials = 400 million a day 400 million * 365 days === 146,000 million 146, 000 million * 5 years === 730,000 million dollars 730,000 million dollars === 730 billion dollars So is it 150 or 730 billion dollars that the nation lost through corrrupt practices. As a President who prides himself as being methodical, " slow and steady" why not wait till the investigations are over and present a clear succint evidence to the citizens. Right now nobody knows who or what to believe. |
Is the 150 billion the amount deemed to be missing from an audit from a reputable company from 1960 to date. Is the 150 billion dollars the actual dollar amount missing from Nigeria's Treasury Is the 150 billion the estimated amount lost from productivity from 1960 to date Is the 150 billion from public and private institutions combined. Is the 150 billion traceable to individuals and institutions both here at home and abroad. What are the names of individuals and institutions responsible for the loss. How much are these individuals and institutions responsible. This is a democracy we need verifiable answers. |
Is it possible to get a breakdown of this alleged 150 billion lost through corruption. Is it an actual amount in dollars lost Is it the amount lost in productivity. Who,how, where, from, due, etc |
GEJ and NOI combo - economic policies and strategies no matter how vilified by a section of the populace is still the best that happened to the country in a long while. |
