PoliticsRe: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by kmariko: 10:03pm On Jun 29, 2015
biafrandream:
I am very sorry to say this. I love Nsukka people but they are clannish to a fault. I have always wished Adada State was created so they can go and develop their state. Did we not witness the whole Enugu without exception, conceding governorship seat to Nsukka zone? Nsukka people would never have extended such gesture to Udi or Nkanu zone. Take analysis of past elections, they have always wanted to snatch power by all mean. The people who are here moaning over the building of road at Emene, have forgotten that while the whole Nkanuland was in darkness, Jim Nwobodo gave electricity to Nsukka.

I hate to tow this line, but I wish all those coming here to lament about Nsukka as if anyone is opposed to the development of their zone should simply carry their misery and go to another forum. Did anyone remember that I made a similar comment many months ago about my view on Nsukka. This is who they are. I am sorry I am generalizing, but that's who they are. Don't forget 90% of friend are from that area but they are disgustingly clannish. I know this will hurt some people but I have to say it.
Am afraid your analysis of "Nsukka" people is wrong. Very wrong. Am not from Nsukka, but it is a place I had some of my formative years and later went on to work there for a few years. Nsukka people are no more clannish than Abariba, Nnewi, Ibeku, Ezza etc of other people in other parts of the country. Its not clannishness but understanding the culture and people you find yourself in

At the height of the presidential campaign in 2008, Presidential candidate Obama has already assembled his transition team in the event that the outcome favored him. New York Times in its November 8, 2008 article declared " For Obama, No time to bask in victory as he starts to build a transition team". The same article went on " a day after becoming the first African - American to capture the presidency, Obama announced a transition team" to co-ordinate with the outgoing Bush administration and the congress. The idea was to draw a line between campaign and governance "underscoring the serious" shape the American albeit the global economy was at the time. Simply put Obama was declared the president-elect on November 4. 2008 and on November 5 , 2008 he has already announced his transition team and at the same time the team launched a website change.gov that details the work being carried out by the team... the site also allowed citizens to voice their opinions on matters pertaining to the direction they want the government to take on various issues.
The president-elect Obama was granting interviews, releasing programs and announcing appointments everyday 24 hours after the election results were announced... to hit the ground running at " more than 100 miles an hour from day 1 " ( Ken Duberstein, former chief of staff under Ronald Reagan) as a result of dire state of the economy and the two wars going on in Iraq and Afghanistan. At the time of inauguration on January 20, 2009 most of the cabinet members have been assembled. It is pertinent to note that Obama had never managed a city nor a company.

David Cameron of UK, on winning the election on May 6, 2010 took up residence at Downing Street on May 11, 2010 and on May 12, 2015 announced his cabinet with the economy and terrorism his main priority. These intents were effectively communicated to the British citizenry before and after the elections.

The citizens of these two nations we tend to ape were informed of the direction their country will take from day 1 by their leaders. The policies of the government through their various agencies were effectively communicated to the citizens using varied media channels. The leaders were also accessible through daily to weekly interviews and townhall meets.

As professor Kevin Theakston, put it a "modern leader must communicate – organize – show political skill – set out policy aims and visions – process advice and take decisions – cope with the stress of the top job and show emotional intelligence". (http://www.britpolitics.co.uk/academic-articles-all/evaluating-david-cameron-as-prime-minister)

Unfortunately , since President Buhari was declared winner of the march 28, 2015 presidential election, he has not shown any of these leadership qualities.

Here, things you should know
1. The names you are given are basically human construct to define a particular location but does not define the person.
2. DNA is not static , it changes or evolves with passage of time and environment.
3. There has been many mixes within each individual s family construct over the years.
4. Humans are migratory in nature,..the reason why you are in the US today, meaning that they pickup different genes as they move along.
5. The confusion is an individual mind set that sees the DNA as an end to all....The DNA does not define you
Like someone mentioned earlier... travel and get to know your relatives not their DNA

In 1971 during economic recession in the United State of America, Lincoln the president jettisoned the dollar backed by gold policy, institutes social programmes that is aimed at the poor and create a tax leverage for domestic companies while bridging the gap between the rich and the poor through introduction on taxes on the rich.

Since then the dollar has taken the place of gold while emerging economies became slaves to the dollar. What is then is the fear nairanisation of our economy? It is simply the fear of unknown.

Suffice then to say that this approach is welcome only if the government will depart from the present way of spending in order to reduce inflation that will arise as a result of increase naira, but if the money is targeted toward the poor and middle class, this will increase economic activities and rejuvenate our economy from depression.
To me inflation can be better managed than depression
It only works when you make things you need. And when you have enormous leverage on the world economy. At this moment in our history we are not

The so called God is claimed to be alpha and omega but how come he sits dumbly and lazily and watch people they claim he worked so hard to create die like fowlshuh Many Nigerians are deep into the belief of this dead God that they no longer use their brains when commenting on tragedies because they have all been brainwashed into believing their existence is owed to a fable God sold to them by Isrealites who are far worse in commiting crimes against humanity in terms of war and killing innocent people. A four month old baby survived the earth quake and i was surprised to see some people thanking God for her survival shocked

Mr. Eziachi

You want to
1. Be the judge...decided that what was written was wrong.
2. Jury... Passed the sentence of guilty
3. Has become the executioner.

Every president lives on the charities of the taxpayers like you and I.
Aso Rock is not a presidents personal abode
The security around him is paid for by you and I.
Ditto, cars, meals , etc.

As long as he/she lives on the largesse of the tax payers he does not have the authority to bar or ban any one from public functions except for security reasons.

He can bar the press from his/her own personal house.
The press can also be barred from private parties by the host of that party.

That a host barred the press is not equivalent to the president barring the press.

It is anti democratic to ban the press by the president.

Seek redress in the court if you feel the articles are false and libelous. Another branch of a democratic institution.

Checks and balances anyone

Assuming that the President-elect made these statements, they are merely the symptoms of a much more dangerous underlying problem. Treating these symptoms without cutting through the main problem is only prolonging the malaria.

Your job at this present stage in our development is to seriously deal with the main problem and not keep prolonging the agony as past leaders have done.

Hint: Corruption is just a symptom of a much bigger problem.

So, people like you would prefer we carry on as we have done in the past which is what brought us to our knees!

Have you read about how some of the performing nations such as China, Japan, Korea and even Indonesia managed to pull out of corruption which was their main stumbling block just as is with us now? It took a leader with the political will to step on toes and say enough is enough.

We cannot continue to gloss over our problems without tackling it headlong. Let Buhari fight for us to reduce corruption even if it is by 50% of what it is now.

If he can recover just about half of the stolen funds, Nigerians will be amazed to see what the money can achieve for us.

Lastly, who says that while the war against corruption is going on other businesses of the nation cannot be continued? Please let us unite to encourage the General to help retrieve some of the loots from the wicked unpatriotic thieves.
Reduction in corruption has nothing
, absolutely nothing to do with their emergence as developed nation. Korea and China are still very corrupt nations.

The reason they emerged was simply thier singular focus on productive activities..namely education.export trade.basic industries and power. By individuals with governmental incentives. Much as Dangote is doing.
