Please vehicle owners if you are to give out your vehicle, it is your duty to have comprehensive insurance (with buy back) before giving it out.
Drivers, Never collect a vehicle H.P or rental without comprehensive insurance

@casiello
Most flashy comments here are coming from people (car owners) who don't drive on the platform. They have drivers driving for them. They don't know what it takes to drive for 18hours everyday. You will be driving for yourself. Ask a full-time driver ( preferably, one that owns his car) to shed more lights to you. You can take a leave for two or three weeks as someone stated and explore this 'lucrative' e-hailing biz. The choice is yours to be convinced or confused. |

casiello: Hi guys,
Advise needed please. Im considering quitting my job to drive on the platform. I earn 181k net at the moment. If I drive for 10-12 hours days, 6 days a week. How much do you think I can make net not gross. I own a 2005 corolla.
I need realistic response please, thanks guys Pls don't quit your job. 181k is a lot of money to lose because of uber/taxify. E-hailing is a full time job for those who don't have a better job. If you already have a 181k job, pls don't lose it. Or Link me up to your employers. Let us swap. I take your job of 181k, you take my uber job. |

Spending less on maintenance and servicing. Spare Parts easily accessible and readily available and not expensive. It can withstand our bad roads. Suspension is good for bumps. |

Drivers are not finding it easy making 35k per week and also maintaining the car. If you need your car properly maintained, I strongly suggest you handle all maintenance. Earnings left after fuel, weekly remittance and maintenance is pitiable. Ask the drivers. sammiejr: Thanks for your apt response.
Partnership in terms of Car-Owner.
From your input, having read through thread 1 - 93 and still reading and speaking to several drivers both in Lagos and Abuja, i have come to see that it is could be a fairly good business to venture into-not the best though, but fairly good.
In fact, a driver in Abuja last night who came to pick me said he had made N15k for the day. And this was just about 7pm in the evening.
I intend to get a Corolla 2003 but for fear of Taxify drivers on Taxifylite not getting enough rides, this puts me at a delinma.
I need advice on specific car/vehicle to get btw the ranges N1.5 - N1.8m, fuel efficient, minimal cost of maintenance, etc.
I want to start with one vehicle and proceed to get more vehicles into this line of business.
N35K a week isnt a bad deal if the driver delivers promptly and manages the car well. I came across a sample contract and will go through it later.
I remain open to advice. Thanks and God bless

Every rider will like you as a driver. You are a handsome dude. Even if you fumble, they will quickly ignore. Your fine face + gym body + fine car, haba , you garrit. Dovehorizon: Goodmorning and happy Sunday.
Always make sure you start your day in a positive note. Take atleast 5minutes out of your time to thank your Creator. Once you wake up, don't just jump out of the bed, straight to the bathroom and after that head straight to you car, nahhhhh you are starting your day on a wrong note. First things first, pray, speak positivity into your day, speak light into your day and allow God to take control. if you are late, pray in your mind, you can pray while bathing, don't rule out the Grace of God, we all need His Grace in such a competitive and evil world we live in.
I remembered when I tried correcting a driver on this thread, some lashed out at me. Let me give few tips... 1. Greeting your rider should be a must, if your rider replies or not shouldn't be your business. If your rider replies, good... 2. Take little things into consideration. There are things you can't really control, such as nature. When your rider isn't comfortable, maybe he or she got cold, catarrh, sneezing/coughing, it's wise to show a bit of care, offer a wipe to use, ask if he or she needs water to drink, 50/100naira from your pocket won't kill you. 3. Don't start a conversation except your rider initiates it, if your rider initiates it, know how to maintain professionalism.
4. Use a mild body spray and airfreshner.
There are so many more...
Well, that's a pix of me for those who wanna have an idea how I look like... |

mrsage: Assuming he earned 35k weekly. 15 months = 2,100,000. Estimated cost of tyres 50,000. ( new 15k and 5k for used tyres ).
How about Oil change ?
Renewal of Vehicle Papers and insurance?
Then the big monster called depreciation? Provision for wear and tear.
The lucky Partner actually did not make profit in 15months. All repairs were on the driver including oil change. He handled renewal of documents. He still has his car which can still go for 1.5m Mileage is still about 77000 He made profit my brother |

mrsage: Food for Thought
E hailing business.... Time To Reflect.
A wise man once said, "without reflection, we go blindly on our way".
Our business has gone through several stages. From the Cabu Cabu era to the Yellow taxi era, then the E hailing era.
E hailing came as an unexpected force and we all know that Uber ( the change agent ) has come to disrupt the market.
Now initially the going was good. Partners and drivers made good money.
Then gradually, fuel price increase and recession raised it's ugly head. Our dear Uber also decided to reduce fares. We all know the story.
Now my question is this: Are we really making Profit? And if the answer is Yes, at what cost?
Partners, drivers and stakeholders in the house , let's have a honest conversation. The drivers are at the ugly end of this turnaround. They get to toil morning till midnight only to see their efforts swallowed by 'minor repairs', petrol cost and car owner's weekly pay. That's why drivers need to pull together and fashion out ways to reduce this work like an elephant, eat like an ant |

FOR NEW DRIVERS
If a partner asks for security deposit ( especially these ones shouting 35k ) and you have the money, don't just drop the cash yet. Go and do a thorough check on the car Inspect the car between 12 noon and 3:30 pm when the sun is hot ( to verify if the ac works. If the ac has to be turned to No 3 or high before it cools, then be wary of that car). Also ensure all the vents are OK.
Ask the partner to service the car before you pick it ( if it isn't serviced yet)
Check the lights front and rear ( for dead ones and non functional ones)
Observe the sound of the engine ( if it revs too high for a normal car)
How neat is the interior?( the seats, dashboard etc)
Check the body and paint. ( dented bumpers, faded body paint, dents, Scratches)
Tyres
If your partner asks for weekly delivery of more than 35k, flee. I repeat, FLEE
Remember they will always say you are to bear the cost of minor repairs. If you ignore these tips, then you will understand that these repairs are not minor. Your church members will contribute to help you remit your weekly debt. Riders will rate you and your eyes will open. From 5.0 to 4.6 Ask the partner to state clearly in the agreement form what will happen to your security deposit at the expiry of the contract.
If you are satisfied that these are sorted out, you can then drop your hard earned security deposit.
OTHER EXPERIENCED DRIVERS PLS CONTRIBUTE AND GUIDE THE NEW ONES FROM SAVAGING PARTNERS |

Stake2odds: Assurance okay but in what position are you to advice anyone to say no to HP? It's the owners choice, I have a vehicle on weekly rental and already planning to give the next on HP so I don't bother about repairs or any other things besides my weekly payments. You guys should learn not to impose your believes on others. Thank you for speaking sense into some dudes. I hear them say no to HP because they failed. But they refuse to admit that so many are succeeding in HP. If you are a failure in your business, be humble and learn from those that are succeeding. Don't pass down your negativity to other investors. Many drivers prefer hire purchase. Many investors prefer it too. But here they are, spreading discouragements because of one or two bad experiences. There are many good and positive HP experiences. Allow partners to choose which one they are more comfortable with. STOP ALL THESE NO TO HP .Please |
