The triple wahala of oil price going up in the world market, supposedly removal of the old subsidy, plus the continuing devaluation of the Naira has dealt the Government severely.

If I was the govt I would build a couple of modular refineries and start producing pms for the cheap. That is d only way we can keep d price low. Otherwise we are in for a long thing.

U can imagine a state like katsina saying we have not got dollars but we have 200,000 barrels of oil. U do the maths.

greatfucker:

How will 1naira then equate to 4 dollars pls explain to me like a kid

The price of a barrel of oil is $97.00, that means u would need 97 units of American money to buy a barrel of oil. It means if our currency is tied to a barrel of oil it means, if I was going to exchange a good it is either I give you one Naira or which would be = 1 barrel of oil.

But because our currency would be too strong can you imagine 1Naira = 97 dollars we devalue our Naira by say 4 = 1 Naira = 24 dollars, it was 20 dollars last week when the price of a barrel of oil was $80.00

That is why I said their should be huge storages of barrels of oil for which every Naira is backed on.

Instead of giving states Naira notes give them barrels of oil as allocation and they can do what they want with it.

This is what would make our currency strong.

Obiano is from Aguleri. He built their town town hall, donated it to them and returned from America for the official opening

The man retired to America as chief auditor to Chevron and was also an auditor for Texaco as well as fidelity Bank, where he became an executive director

He said on YouTube that he was enjoying his retirement in his mansion in America that had s swimming pool and basketball court when Peter came one day to tell him he wanted him to become APGA Governorship flagbearer

The rest is history

No diasporas that has spent 20 years plus abroad would want to retire abroad no matter what. Clearly this man is running away from his own shadow knowing what he did. I have seen diasporan relocate to Nigeria with less than $2000.00 after spending 20 years abroad. People just want to back home after a while.

Anambra people seem to need a lesson on diplomacy and political correctness. A medical doctors advertisement from Anambra govt says only Anambra indigenes are eligible to apply. Another medical job advertisement from Kano says open to all applicants. Now, you wonder why in 2023 a highly professional position is being restricted to a particular locality. Even if Soludo and company prefer to hire only from Anambra, the diplomatic or politically correct thing would be to accept all applications but invite only Anambra applicants for interview. No one would know what they did because they can always claim they invited the best candidates. I'm sure the advertised Kano jobs will eventually be filled by Kano indigenes or other Muslims from the North. But no one can accuse Kano here of open discrimination.

There is no need openly discriminating against others in 2023. This is not so different from the recent electoral discrimination against Igbos in Lagos.

Many years ago when I was in Nigeria I had applied for a federal government job in Lagos. The project was allocated to each state. I managed to meet with the Director of the agency in Ikeja through a contact. After a brief discussion he told me to apply for the job in my own state. But I lived in Lagos, not Abia. I was not hired for that position. But at least I was allowed to apply.

Discrimination is a problem in Nigeria. Sometimes it is same people discriminating against themselves, worse so, openly. This must stop.
.

The advert is an Afront to other Igbo’s from neighbouring states let alone Nigerians.

$1 million dollars you say?? Dey play, just dey play.

FG granted modular refinery licenses to a number of companies. Funding has been a major challenge for many of them.

Only a few who got the licenses then are now operational. The likes of Walter Smith, NDPR etc

How come petrol is still expensive, moreover because a barrel is $97.00 does not mean local companies should be buying it at that price because they are not exporting it, they can buy a barrel in Naira, maybe 30,000.00 per barrel.

Nigeria should be minting money and selling our petrol & diesel very cheap. Give a lot of people license to start modular refineries, I understand it would cost only $1 million dollars.

Very many Nigerians can afford this, so what are waiting for?

Nope that doesn’t justify the fact that US managed to remain a dominant currency despite not being backed by any commodity. The real reason we don’t have to start talking about it else we will derail this topic.

No one is comparing themselves with d US. Is like saying Nigeria is bigger than Africa as a whole meanwhile US bigger than d whole Africa.
If it comes to every single item, education, technology, wealth, creation of wealth, u just name. Nigerian needs a stable currency so people can invest here just as people invest in d US.

Heard of BRICs?

Go and read why it was set up.

Your follow up statements on Japan and China artificially suppressing their currencies does not follow the original argument I was making on the ongoing Ponzi scam being perpetuated on the world by Jewish banksters in the west.

The bottom line is tying our currency to our oil is just to stabilise it rather than it swinging from 120 to 1 in 2003 to nearly 920 to 1 in 2023.

Crude oil has been relatively stable.

The US is the biggest economy in terms of consumption and not production.

America is able to consume without producing courtesy of the dollar hegemony which isn't backed by anything but printed from thin air and forced on the world to accept .

America is running a debt based economy that will never be redeemed.

It's a scam that occured after WW2 and perfected after Nixon took the US off the Gold standard.

America is the problem .

Even if you print your money from thin air, once u have d biggest economy, the largest concentration of millionaire anywhere in d world are in the U.S That is purchasing power their. Every producer around d world would want to sell to that economy because they no they have d buying power. Hence y Japan for years never want their currency to appreciate. Same thing China of recent.

All our oil reserves is in lien to service the humongous loans Buhari and his thieving cabal stole.

Hmmmm… you back your currency against crude, what happens when the price of crude drops? And remember you do not single handedly control the crude price.

That being said, the US dollar is not backed by any commodity but only backed by the paper note and interest rate. God bless America, yet US remains the dominant currency even for those currencies that are backed by Gold.

The US is the biggest economy in world hence that is y. Half all luxurious goods ever produced ends up in d US.

That's why it can't work. Currency is often backed by scarce resources with less deflation risk.

Your currency can't be stabilised through over dependent on importation. Focus more is finished goods you can export and produce nearly all essential goods for consumption locally and see how things turn around.

Brent crude is now$90.00 per barrel. Our currency has gone up again.

I just wish president tinubu will sack all the officers of our security. Like maybe in the police now, he should just sack all the officers from CP and above. Am fully sure more than 75% of them have been compromised.

Forgive my ignorance, but since those senior rankers in the police aren't combatants, I believe Amy serious civilian with strategic thinking and planning will be able to shape the police in order.

No government would throw people’s father, husbands.and bread winners out of job. Why do you think Buhari could not sack service chiefs for a long time. Not with the 1985 coup experience.
