Culture › Divorce by knowingChrist(op):
Blessed father of our faith. We thank you for this opportunity to learn your will and judgment about divorce. We ask for the will to accept your truth and the strength to obey your word. Amen.

The word “divorce” comes from the Latin word “divortium” which means separation. It is also equivalent to the word “divort” or “divortere.” “Di” means apart and “vertere” means to turn in different ways. Divertere also means to divert, turn aside, separate or leave one’s husband.

Today, divorce means the legal dissolution of a marriage by a court or other competent body. Divorce in its verbal form means to legally dissolve one's marriage with (someone), or separate or dissociate (something) from something else, typically with an undesirable effect.

Divorce is quite a logical solution for marriages where there’s no love anymore and it’s one of humans’ most thoughtful and deliberated laws. There are many reasons that can lead to divorce but all of these reasons can be covered as a lack or deficiency of love and respect in a marriage. Common reasons why couples divorce include: lack of commitment, infidelity, conflict and argument, marrying too young, financial problems, substance abuse, domestic violence, etc.

No one can really tell when the practice of divorce started but we can find traces of this concept in ancient civilizations. The oldest codified law in the history of divorce was traced to 1760 B.C. During that period, a man could divorce his wife by simply saying, “You are not my wife,” which was followed by payment of a fine and returning the wife’s dowry. However, if it was the wife who wanted a divorce, she was required to file a complaint to obtain a divorce. In today’s modern society, divorce is only recognized if legal and supported by law.

However, our focus will be on the biblical account of divorce, and our excerpt will be taken from biblical situations. The concept of divorce was introduced by Moses, this might imply that divorce was practiced in Egypt before this time, but was alien to the tribesmen. The concept was introduced because people (mainly men) usually ignore their partners to marry others. It was introduced to give the neglected partner a sense of closure of their situation, so that they’re not confused about the behavior of their partners, and to make them aware of their freedom to engage other people as suitable partners.

Therefore, by default, divorce is an alien practice to God’s people. It’s a practice introduced to accommodate people’s uncontrollable desires and unfaithfulness. For by law, a man cannot put away his wife for any reason, and any woman who commits fornication or adultery shall be put to death. Divorce was created because men continued to put away their wives in disobedience to the law, Moses had to improvise to create a safe place for people to put away their wives and give closure to the woman.

Note: a wife in the Hebrew tribe is not only a woman whose marriage has been celebrated and consummated. Any woman betrothed to a man is his wife by law, even when they might not have been openly celebrated. In this case, the woman lives with her parent until she’s old enough for her husband to take her in an open celebration, after which the marriage can be consummated. A marriage cannot be consummated unless it has been celebrated openly for witnessing.

The Hebrew men did not put away a woman of consummated marriage, they usually put away their betrothed wife to marry another woman in her stead. Any woman treated this way is left unmarried past the common marriageable age while thinking that her husband by law will one day come to take her away. Moses created divorce so that men who’re not interested in the marriage can give a woman divorce to release her from the law to marry another person. Women whose marriages have been consummated are simply left untouched (e.g. Nitzevet, Leah), and sometimes separated but they remained married to their husbands.

What does God say about divorce?
In order to fully understand God’s perspective on divorce, we need to first understand God’s perspective on the concept of marriage, and to fully understand marriage, we have to look at the origin of marriage from the scriptures to have a holistic understanding of the concept.

Origin of marriage
As oddly as it sounds, marriage as a concept obtainable from the scriptures was created by man and not God. The concept was established by Adam in the presence and authority of God. For Adam was as the son of God (Luke 3:38), and whatever words he uttered were established (as law), and whatever name he gave to anything became the name thereof.

When God brought another enitity to Adam as a help meet, Adam said: This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. By these words, Adam established a union of the man and the woman as one.

Here lies wisdom: Adam knew that he was already one with God but on seeing Eve, he became consumed by desire to establish a type of oneness outside God, declaring that a man shall leave his father and mother and shall cleave unto his wife, and they shall be one flesh.

Marriage is a natural law because it was established by man’s will and so, must be followed by man’s will. For this reason, marriage is an observable natural law, yet a person may choose not to marry and it will have no bearing whatsoever on them spiritually (1 Corinthians). However, the spiritual laws are absolute and must be obeyed by all living Humans (Romans 7:14), and whoever disobeys any part of this shall die.

God did not establish marriage as a concept of life, Adam established marriage in the presence of God, and this makes God a witness in marriage. Marriage was also established by the power of God, and this likewise makes God a constituted authority for marriage. Therefore, for every marriage, God is both a witness and the legal authority (government) that joins a man to a woman.

For example, the court (the government) is both a witness and the legal authority that joins a man and a woman, and it awards a certificate of marriage thereafter but is in no way responsible for the marriage. The court does not tell a man to marry nor who to marry, however, when a man and a woman agree to get married by their own will, the court joins them and becomes the highest witness to the marriage, and places a seal of agreement on them. Such is God’s position in every marriage.

God’s thoughts on divorce
It’s almost impossible to know the mind of God on the concept of divorce because like marriage, it was established by a man who wielded the power of God, and thus, also makes God the highest witness and constituted authority for divorce. This means God is not responsible for any divorce, but if a man and a woman agree to part ways, God shall be a witness to this.

The position that God holds in a marriage makes it very difficult to understand his thought on divorce. However, people have proceeded to divorce in fulfillment of their own will without trying to understanding God’s mind on the concept.
Knowing God’s thoughts through Christ

Divorce is one of the important issues that Jesus delivered God’s justice on, and revealed the mind of God to mankind. When the Pharisees tempted him on the subject, he replied thus:

• 8 He saith unto them, Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so.
• 9 And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.
• 10 His disciples say unto him, If the case of the man be so with his wife, it is not good to marry.
• 11 But he said unto them, All men cannot receive this saying, save they to whom it is given.

This is God’s judgment on divorce: a man cannot put away his wife for any reason whatsoever. However, a man can put away his wife for fornication.

Note: fornication is an act that can only be perpetrated by an unmarried woman. A married woman does not commit fornication, she commits adultery instead. Therefore, the woman that can be divorced is the woman who is betrothed to a man, and the only reason for this to happen is fornication.

An example of a divorceable situation in the scripture is that between Joseph and Mary, the parent of our lord Jesus Christ. Mary was referred to as Joseph’s wife even though she was only betrothed to him at that time. In fact, Joseph was not in any way confused about Mary’s pregnancy because they had not consummated their marriage at that time, which is also because they had not celebrated the marriage openly.

A man and woman who have openly celebrated their marriage and have consummated it cannot divorce under any condition; whether physical or spiritual. A man or a woman cannot divorce the other even because of adultery, the adulterous partner should be forgiven with necessary chastisement.

A man who has betrothed a woman cannot divorce her except if she fornicates. A man cannot say to a woman “I will marry you” and then not marry her after they had reached an agreement. A woman who accepts to marry a man cannot turn away from this agreement under any circumstances. If this happens in any case, and the person married another, it will be adultery before God.

Why can’t people divorce?
Recall, that God is the highest authority and witness in marriage, therefore, if God has witnessed a marriage, God cannot witness divorce because God cannot bear witness to the same thing differently. God’s witness is true, meaning that it’s single, and the same at all times. If God witnesses a marriage, that will be his witness forever, come rain or shine.

A man cannot agree to marry a woman and not marry, and vice versa. This is because God is the God of agreement. He bears witness to every agreement. Except for unfaithfulness, such an agreement cannot be annulled by anyone, living or dead. Divorce is possible for a husband and wife whose marriage is not consummated because the seal of marriage is still intact, but a marriage that is consummated and the seal is broken for evidence cannot be annulled by any existing force or power.

Implication of divorce
Although divorce is a very logical solution from the human perspective, God does not allow for divorce. It is very dangerous to divorce, it’s very dangerous to agree to marry a person and then turn around on such an agreement. A consummated cannot be divorced, divorcing from a consummated marriage is a direct attack on God, it’s a direct attack on the word of God and it can lead to death (spiritual).

Divorcing from a partner with whom there’s an agreement to marry results in evil befalling a person because they have breached a covenant. Such a person might not even know why their life is in disarray, yet their covenant to marry a particular person still stands before God, and going off to marry another person is adultery before God and they shall receive the punishment of an adulterer.

An example of a people who did not understand why God was against them and why evil befell them repeatedly is the Israelites but God revealed to them through Malachi that evil befell them because they have behaved treacherously with their wife though he was a witness to the covenant they had. (Malachi 2:14-17).

Divorce and salvation
This is the most important part of divorce Christians need to understand because the marriage to a woman is a similitude to salvation in Christ, and the Church is to the last Adam as Eve was to the first Adam. For by the establishment marriage all fell, and by the same marriage shall all be saved.

The first marriage was born out of man's desires, but the last marriage was ordained before the beginning. The first marriage was established to pull a man away from God but the last marriage connects a man to God. The first marriage was established by the will of Man but the last marriage is by the will of God. All men were born through the will of the first man and by the lust of the flesh, but all men shall be saved through birth by the word of God (John 1:12-13).

Therefore, divorce as logically presented is against the concept of salvation in Christ Jesus. Inasmuch as both the carnal marriage and the spiritual marriage to Christ are overseen by God, God does not bear witness to both marriages differently. What is applicable to one marriage is applicable to the other. A man must love his wife as Christ loves the church and a woman must submit to her husband as the church is subject unto Christ (Ephesians 5:22-30).

However, it’s also important for us to know that we’re only betrothed to Christ for now, and our marriage to Christ is not celebrated yet, so we all stand a chance of being divorced for spiritual fornication (Mathew 19:9). Every Christian is like a virgin growing and waiting to be mature enough to be taken away by her husband, and for this, we must all preserve ourselves as we journey to our marital ceremony (2 Corinthians 11:2).

Christianity Etc › Understanding Genesis 1 - The Explanation by knowingChrist(op):
Explanation of Genesis 1:1-27
In the beginning, God created two realities, or states or time; the heaven and the earth, with very similar natures. The earth became dark as soon as it was created. So God’s response to this backwardness, instability or unorderliness, or lawlessness on earth was to enter it and lay a plan to reveal himself in the earth and also bring everlasting calm to the earth. Genesis 1:1-2

For God to reveal himself in the earth, he first called light to be present in earth, it’s through this light will all creations of God see God on earth and know his intent. This light will also lead all creation to the knowledge of the plan of God as the light is the first agenda of God’s plan. The light represents the righteousness of God and it carries in itself the whole intent of God. The Light is the beginning of God’s plan and everything was born in it. The light of God is the Word or vice versa (1 John 1-9), but another thing we know for sure is that it’s the first of the creation of God (Revelation 3:14). No one can know God without this light, for every creation must see God through this light. The light is the very true nature of God, for God is light (1 John 1:5). Genesis 1:2

God gazed at the light he had borne in the earth, it pleased God, and God said it was good. Since God is creating a specified order or pattern of things in the earth, this means every time the world becomes chaotic and lawless, God’s response will always be this light. This is an established order. This light is the answer God gives for every time the earth returns to its original situation (the state in Gen 1:2), and this light has power in itself to manifest God’s will at every moment in time.

Note: the word “good” God said about the lights means: of a favorable character or tendency; fertile or bountiful; free from injury; sound, can be relied on; having everything desired or required; kind or benevolent, free from infirmity or sorrow; etc

This means God saw his light and said it can be relied on, has a favorable character or tendency, is kind, is benevolent and bountiful, and is free from infirmities.

Therefore, everything time the light of was born as an answer to the situation in the earth it’ll be free from infirmities and will be kind and benevolent bc this is an established order of God. if the light of God was to be born in human form, it’ll be free from sin, bc sin is an infirmity of the soul.

The light of God will also be Holy, a separation from chaos and filthiness. The light will be separated from anything of darkness. Remember the light bares the knowledge of God, so it’ll be separated from the darkness (ignorance) in the world. The light will also be the King or Lord of Day as God called the presence of the light Day.

God will divide the world by his light; the world will be divided into those in light and those dwelling in the darkness still. To explain better, the waters will be divided with the light as the standard or reason for division. The waters will be divided into those that allow the light shine through and those that are too dark and refuse to let the light pass through. Genesis 1:4

The water in the beginning is literally water, but it’s also a metaphorical representation of the nature of the soul of this world. Therefore, any soul created turns dark (becomes sinful) almost immediately and the answer by order for the chaotic and lawless situation of any soul in the earth is the light of God.

So because the plan of God has both physical and spiritual relevance, when it sets into motion, the physical interpretation which is the first instance will be physical water but the spiritual interpretation, the metaphoric instance of water will be soul, and all this will be written in double entendre.

Note: every word of God is spoken and written in double entendre.

Therefore, God will separate souls based on their luminance by his light, some souls will be taken up into heaven while some will be left on earth. This part is our first hint to understand that the whole plan of God has the message of salvation buried in it. Genesis 1:5-7

Note: everything in Genesis 1 is just a creation of a plan, order, specification, and design of all things. It’s the revelation of the details in God’s plan, nothing had been made yet but everything is just the creation of the design of things and the law upon which everything shall exist by.

Explanation of Genesis 1:9-27
This part will mark the beginning of the creation of Man, it’ll see the parting of the condition (dark water) on the earth to create a new Kind. This new kind will physically mean ground but spiritually, it’ll be the creation of a living (light) soul as opposed to the dark soul of the world. This living soul will be called Adam, man from the ground, and will be better understood in Genesis 2 where the bible gives details of the creation of Adam and the following happenings. Genesis 1:9-10.

After Adam will be created, God will start to prepare what he should eat and what would entertain him. Thus, God will cause the ground to bring forth all manners of plants for decoration, food, and activities for Adam. So after the creation of the dry ground (and Adam) will be the creation Plants in God’s plan. Genesis 1:11-13

The next steps that will follow the creation of plants is the creation of steps to mitigate Man’s unwillingness to let the light of God shine through him. If Adam allows the light of God shine through, everything in Adam’s world (i.e. the soulish world) will get light and enjoy life, but Adam’s unwillingness to let the light of God shine through him means that everything that exists in the soulish world will die almost immediately as they exist and become a part of the original chaotic nature of the world.

So in a bit to checkmate this from happening and encourage Adam to walk in his light, God will create lights and establish them with a perpetual decree in heaven to give light to Adam (a sense of light and show him the way).

This part of the plan like every other part of God's plan has both physical and spiritual relevance. The lights which will be created physically mean: the moon, the sun, and the stars, but spiritually, these lights mean Laws and Angels.

The greater light and the lesser light represent two dimensions of the law God will give Adam and the stars represent the Angels of God. And all these things will be created to give Adam a sense of the light of God (I.e. to appreciate light) and make sure order is sustained within the time. Genesis 1:14-19

After God makes provision for this, God intends to give Adam a sense of belonging and authority because he will become more and more gloomy as the world for not allowing the light of God to shine through him.

It will become expedient for God to create something external to excite him and let him relax. This is why God will create animals and placed them under his authority. Perhaps, if excited he’ll veer from his displeasure and distaste in the program of God. Genesis 1:20-25

Explanation of Genesis 1:26-27
This is the point God when decides to send his light into Man’s world for it’s now clearly seen that the righteousness of God cannot come through Adam.

Note: Adam in this sense represents the first Adam and every man that comes through him, i.e. every one of his sons.

At the stage when all the world has completely gone out of course, God will send his light into the world, bearing God’s righteousness and fully representing God; image and likeness of God. Thus, God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him. Genesis 1:26

This light when he comes, will create male and female people like itself in accordance with the plan of God, which is to create a kingdom full of righteousness of God. A kingdom of everlasting peace and Rest.

Although many assume that this man was the first Adam, proper study and understanding in Christ helps us know that the light is the Word of God and the man created to represent God and behave like God is Christ Jesus, the man who brought the righteousness of God to earth.

The male and female people he created are those who accept his word as true and follow him in obedience to the word of God. Thus, male and female he (i.e. he who God created in his image and likeness) created them. This will be better explained in other chapters. Genesis 1:27

Explanation of Genesis 1:28
This part is the work by the decree of God that each entity created in the image and likeness of God must undergo. Everyone created in the image of God must bear fruit, increase and replicate themselves in others. By this, the righteousness of God revealed by his light fill up the earth and replenish the earth.

For us to fully understand this verse, let’s break it up into its component parts and try to understand the importance of every word in the verse.

Part 1
And God blessed them, and said unto them:

After God creates an entity in his image and likeness, he blesses such a person but this blessing comes with a commandment for them to continue to dwell in the blessing of God.

The commandment is laid out to help them walk as a blessed Kind, and without which they’ll fall off from God’s blessing and become polluted like the original nature of the world. It’s like buying a new gadget that comes with a manual to operate it to continue to function according to its design. The commandment is to help those created in the likeness of God to remain in God’s design.

So God blessed them here and gave them the commandment which will follow in the next part.

Part 2
Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it:

This part is the command that will be given. To fully understand this part, we’ll have to carefully interpret each word so that we do not assume any part of the statement.

The words needing careful interpretation include:
• Fruitful
• Multiply
• Replenish
• Subdue

Fruitful: this word means yielding or producing fruit; abundantly productive.

Multiply: the word means to increase in number especially greatly or in multiples; to become greater in number: SPREAD.

Replenish: the word means to fill or build up again; restore (a stock or supply) to a former level or condition.

Subdue: the word means to conquer and bring into subjection: VANQUISH, to overcome in battle, to bring under control, especially by an exertion of the will

As we understand the meaning of every word in the statement independently, this helps us understand the statement as a whole.

Therefore when God said be fruitful, and multiply, and Replenish the earth, and subdue it, what God was saying is produce fruit, be abundantly productive, and increase especially in numbers, become greater in number i.e. spread, and fill up or build up the earth again, restore the earth to its former condition (the original condition in the beginning), and overcome the earth in battle, bring it under control especially by an exertion of the will of God.

LEASON
The lesson here which is the profound thing is that these people are going to be as an army before they can overcome the earth in battle (Joel 2:11, the earth must have depleted to its barest level in righteousness and knowledge for them to restore it to its original condition in the beginning (Psalm 82:5).

Another thing to learn is that these people (i.e. the man in the image of God and the male and female he creates) will not be created in the beginning of the world, they’ll all be created at the end (I.e. Christ who is the man in image of God will not be created in the beginning but the end), and from there they will bring back or return the earth to its condition in the beginning (That's the condition it was in the Garden of Eden) Joel 2:3; Isaiah 51:3

Thank you for reading. God bless you

Genesis 1:6
And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.

This part of the plan follows the sequence of God’s plan. For when the light of God shines on the waters, this created a disparity in the waters due to the luminance of the different parts of the water. Some parts will emit light and be seen while other parts will continue to give little or no light.

So God in his infinite wisdom thought it wise to separate the water into waters based on luminance, which is basically the level of acceptance and emission of his light. So God divided the waters from the waters, creating two kinds of water in the earth.

Note: although it was just one body of water at the beginning, it started to part as it expanded through movement in the earth, creating different water bodies. This is well explained in the later part of Genesis (Gen 2:10).

Genesis 1:7
And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.

This part of this plan is God’s design of the cause and mode of the separation of the waters, he designed the movement of waters such that some can be above the firmament while some can only remain below.

And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.
So God called the firmament Heaven, a physical representation of heaven, delivering the message that heaven is higher than the earth.

Genesis 1:9
And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.

This is the beginning of phase two of God’s plan. It’s the dawn of change in the earth and the beginning of the creation of a new Kind. For all of the earth was waters, and everything that happened until this time was with waters.

Genesis 1:10
And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good.

This part of God’s plan sees God giving a name to the new Kind, and also giving a different name to the coming together of the waters. This shows us that every time God creates a new thing, he gives a new name to it.

Genesis 1:11-13
11- And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.
12- And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
13- And the evening and the morning were the third day.

This part of God’s plan sees the creation of plants. This part of the plan is very significant bc it reveals that which was hidden in God’s plan. Although it’s not well realized, the plants were made as Food for Adam. It’s the part that helps us put into perspective everything that has happened since the beginning. The disobedience of Adam was an abomination to God, it hurt God and dishonored Adam by removing his name and existence from his divine plan. This creation of plants helps us realize this.

Genesis 1:14-19
14- And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:
15- And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.
16- And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.
17- And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,
18- And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.
19- And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.

This part, like in Genesis 1:3 is God’s solution to the circumstance of earth. God had created a new kind on earth was there was still no light so God intends to create physical light body and place them to give light to the earth since the new kind refused to give light.

Note: at this time nothing was still created. This is still God creating a plan and designing every aspect of this plan to lead to the creation of the man who will be the likeness of God.

Genesis 1:20-25
This part is the creation of Animals.
Note: animals are behavioral entities, they’re purely emotional entities and are created in the likeness of this world. Animals are character or behavioral combinations, they are modelled man.

Genesis 1:26
And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

This is the grand finale of God’s plan. It’s the revelation of the intent of God and the creation of man who was in the mind of God as an everlasting solution to the problems on earth. God said to himself, let’s make man in our likeness and our image, this man was not just going to represent God, but will also behave like God.

Note: this is just still a plan, nothing has been made to manifest yet. All that exists still at this point is the earth and God was still hovering over the water.

Genesis 1:27
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
This part shows God’s design of this man in his mind. God made this man and ordained him to behave like God and represent God in all ramifications, and gave this man the power to make male and female people like himself.

Father and author of our faith, we pray for the grace to learn of you. Open our understanding that we may know your truth according to your word scriptures. Scatter the tables of lies in our life that and build the doctrine of your truth in us so that we might have the confidence to speak your word in our lives and to others. Amen.

Genesis 1:1
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

Interpretation:
This part tells us that God created heaven and the earth in the beginning. Heaven and earth are two distinct states, systems, natures, poles, planes, realities, or times. There’s no other plane or reality of outside these two. These two are the finished work of God.
Note: God didn’t create anything else afterward. If anything exists, it has to be in either of these two.

Genesis 1:2
And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

This verse starts to explain the nature of earth; its reality, state, and the kind of time it was when it was created. We just have to imagine the nature of heaven by understanding the nature of the earth bc heaven and earth were of two distinct natures or realities.
This verse needs to be divided into its component parts for a proper understanding of the message.

Part 1:
And the earth was without form, and void

This part carries two statements joined as one to give a proper understanding of the complexity of the situation on earth when it was created.

The statements are:
1. The earth was without form
2. The earth was void

Statement 1:
The term “form” as used in this statement means design; plan; schema; figure; rest; or beauty. It also means essential nature; method of expression; conduct regulated by an extraneous control; mode of existence, action, or manifestation; orderly method of arrangement.

This statement says that the earth was without a design; plan; schema; figure; rest; or beauty. It’s saying the earth was without essential nature; a method of expression; conduct regulated by an extraneous control; mode of existence, action, or manifestation; or an orderly method of arrangement.

This means the earth was uninfluenced by any external force when created and this resulted in disorderliness and chaos. The earth had no essential nature and there’s no method of expression in it; this means there was no word in it. We can say the earth was in a state that people the esoteric knowledge call a state of singularity, but scripturally we’ll say it had no Rest.

Statement 2:
The word void in this statement means to be without law, null; containing nothing; without specification; vain or useless. The word void also means Gap or opening; emptiness; lack or absence.

The statement says that the earth was without any law and contained nothing when it was created. It says the earth was without specification, it was vain, and it was in a state of emptiness when it was created.

Part 2:
; and darkness was upon the face of the deep.

This statement is closely related to the first part. It shows this by starting with a semicolon, which is used to indicate a close relation between two different parts of a statement.

This statement has some quite significant words that need to be interpreted for a holistic understanding of the message here. The significant words that need to be interpreted include:
Darkness
Face
Deep

The word Darkness used is the quality or state of being dark: such as
• the total or near total absence of light
• a gloomy or depressed state or tone

The word darkness also means Evil or a lack of knowledge or enlightenment
Note: dark means devoid or partially devoid of light : not receiving, reflecting, transmitting, or radiating light; transmitting only a portion of light; arising from or showing evil traits or desires; lacking knowledge or culture; SECRET

Face: the word face as used in this verse means facial expression; a facial expression of distaste or displeasure; outward appearance; the aspect of something that is perceptible or obvious upon superficial examination.
The word face also means DISGUISE, PRETENSE; DIGNITY, PRESTIGE or Surface.

Deep: the word “deep” as used in the verse is properly translated as abyss.
The word deep would mean: extending far from some surface or area; having a specified extension in an implied direction usually downward or backward.
Abyss means a very deep or unfathomable gorge or chasm; anything that appears to be endless or immeasurably deep, such as time, despair, or shame.

Interpretation:
It’s important to fully understand the whole context of the combined parts of this verse bc it gives the reason for the next part of the verse. So let’s bring back the message to interpret it.

And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep.

This means the earth was without law or specified order and contained nothing, and no light was seen from the surface coming from the inside of the earth. This statement has both spiritual and physical relevance.

Note the earth was not created this way, it became this way after its creation. The earth was created by law but it became lawless or orderless, empty, and gave no light from its inside after it was created.

The physical relevance of this verse is that the observable laws of nature were absent in the earth after it was created and there was no observable light.

There was no specific order of existence or motion immediately after the earth was created i.e. the observable law that sends everything down when they go up was absent, something can come down and go up again almost immediately or the next time. There was no observable pattern of happening. It was wholly chaotic and no defined law or matter in the earth.

The spiritual relevance of this verse is that the earth was created with knowledge and righteousness (a sense of right and wrong), and was allured with all beauty and rest, but it became darkened (full of ignorance) and without righteousness (without a sense of right and wrong), and was ugly and chaotic or without Rest immediately after it was created.

We would say the earth fell out of the plan/light/righteousness/beauty/order/rest of God immediately after it was created.

Part 3:
And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

This part of the verse is God’s response to the situation in the earth. Since the earth which was created in beauty, light, and order had become ugly, dark, and without other, God’s response to this situation was to enter the earth in that chaotic state, bringing his presence to the earth and he moved on the surface of the water.

Note: although most translations use “waters” as opposed to water, God moved over the face of the “water” as it was just one body of water in the beginning.

Immediately God came into the earth, and hovered on the water, he immediately starts to establish in order in the earth, bring light, create laws, and a grand plan was to end in the creation of Man in the image of God and the salvation of the sons of men who have derailed.
The remaining verse of Genesis 1 is the plan of God that he established in the earth even before he started making anything.

Genesis 1:3
And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

The first agenda in God’s plan was to make his light present on earth. This verse has both spiritual and physical relevance. The physical relevance is that it helps us understand that the first light that was present on earth is actually the light of God. It’s this light that predated all things and all things were made through the light of God.

The spiritual relevance of this verse shows us that the first thing God brought into earth was his righteousness, so the sense of right and wrong on earth predated all forms of light and it’s configured into all humans who come into life. It was to be God’s first work on earth; establishing righteousness.

Genesis 1:4
And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.

This part is connected to the Genesis 1:3. God visualized the light he intends to bring into the earth.
Note: all of these things is happening while God is hovering the surface of the water. It was God’s planning for the earth, nothing was set into motion yet. God was creating a perfect and unshakeable plan that was going to cover everything and outcome.

Genesis 1:5
And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

This is the first ordainment in God’s plan. God ordained his light to be day and the darkness in the world he ordained as night. As there’s movement from the darkness to light, we have days, and on the day that God was going to shine his light will be called the first day. This movement is the transition of parts of the earth from darkness of the earth to the embracing of light. The sequence of this movement will be Darkness->partial darkness->partial light->Light. The whole happening on the earth is captured in this movement i.e. from the beginning to the end of this earth will be a movement from darkness to the light of God. The partial darkness is called evening while the partial light is called morning.

Note the plan of God is in sequence and every part of this plan is born by the last and they are all connected to bring about the manifestation the man in the likeness of God and the salvation of the sons of Men through Him.

Romans 10:16
But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?

This part is also taking the same sequence in the chapter and lays the first unequivocal step towards explaining the concept of faith since it’s properly explained the righteousness of God

We have to break this verse into its component parts to fully understand it.

Part 1
But they have not all obeyed the gospel.

This part makes it clear that the gospel is something that must be obeyed. If the gospel needs to be obeyed, this means the gospel is a commandment that must be obeyed to attain righteousness before God. For obedience is righteous before God. In fact, the believers’ mission is to teach people to obey everything Christ commands Matthew 28:20. This means the gospel is the commandments of Jesus and nothing else. This commandment is buried in Mathew 5 and other parts of the scriptures where Jesus relays the commandments. All these commandments are embodied in love and are crafted by God to help anyone who obeys them become a loving, peaceful, and humble person.

Part 2
For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?

This part explains the first part. This is why it starts with the word “for”. It’s indicating that to believe the gospel of Jesus means to obey the commandment of Jesus. Obedience is synonymous to believe according to the scriptures. If a person then says they believe in Jesus but do not obey his commandment, then they’re the people who the bible described as having their faith in their mouth; hearers of the word who are deceiving themselves (James 1:22).

Romans 10:17
So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

This part is very direct. It’s establishing what had been said in Romans 10:16 through Romans 10:1; it’s establishing the link between faith and righteousness.

The verse contains a two steps process that must be completed to bring about faith. To fully understand this verse, we’ll have to break this process into its component steps:

faith cometh by:
1. hearing the word of God.
2. hearing by the word of God.

Step 1:

This statement establishes the fact that has been hitherto discussed in the chapter that a person needs to be preached to before they can obey the commandment of God. This is because all men are originally blind and deaf spiritually and a person needs to be led into their healing by another who’s already healed. They need to hear the commandment of God.

Step 2:
hearing by the word of God.

This part is the second step that completes and crowns the first step of the process of faith. This part says a person must hear-by the word of God. The phrase “hear by” does not have a specific word for it in the English language. It means to stay within; live by; abide by; comply with; continue in; act in accordance with; keep to; submit to; adhere to etc. It’s a phrase used to express a state or a being.

The closest words in meaning to this phrase are: Follow; Obey; Observe; Heed; Adopt; Embrace; Honor etc.

Paul was telling us in step two of the process that brings about faith that we have to obey, observe, or abide by the word that we heard from the preachers sent to us. If we do this then faith will come to us. In fact, Paul is consistent with this message throughout his ministry (1 timothy 4:16; 1 Corinthians 15:2). Jesus also passed the same message when he used the same phrase in letting us know that obedience to his command is the key to salvation and it’s what gives us the knowledge of God (John 8:31-33).

The implication of this is that a person must obey the commandments of Jesus for them to have faith and such a person shall be saved through the process of obedience to the word of God.

Whoever says they are saved and does not obey the commandments of Jesus is only deceiving themselves as we’ve seen James say. In this, God separates his children who are children of obedience from the children of the devil who are the children of disobedience. By this, the color of a person is known by how they live their lives, and thus, we know everyone by their fruits.

Romans 10:18
But I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, their sound went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world.

This part is making reference to the comment in Romans 10:16 which is: But they have not all obeyed the gospel. So Paul is asking why is that they do not have faith? Is It that they’ve not heard? Then he said: Yes, verily they’ve heard because the words of the preachers have reached the ends of the world. What then is the problem why is it that they are yet to have faith? It’s their disobedience to the commandment which is the gospel. This further establishes the fact that obedience to the word of God is the key to having faith and salvation which come through faith.

Romans 19-21
This part is summarizing the whole context of this chapter and tells us why Paul prays for Israel that they might be saved. The reason for this Paul’s prayer is seen in Romans 10:21 where the scriptures says they’re disobedient and gainsaying people. If we look at this in comparison to the early verses of the chapter, we’ll see that a people can reject the righteousness of God and establish their righteousness and expect God to walk by their righteousness. They do this by rejecting what the bible says they must do, or intentionally twisting it so they might feign ignorance. This kind of people have a zeal for God but not according to know knowledge of God because we can only know God through our obedience to his word.

Thank you for reading…. God bless you
May you receive the grace to obey the word of God and walk in the path of his righteousness. Amen.

What we're is the son of God not God or god

God is the source while god is for the disobedient and the sons of disobedience. Were neither God not god we're the sons of God which means, a kind of entity that do the will of God. This is why were a new kind.

calling yourself God is the same as calling yourself son of God?

this is false.. and i'll advice you to see the bible as a whole and don't be a liar by breaking any part of it for a liar breaks the word of God and this is why satan took the bible out of context to tempt Jesus. If you say being a son of God is the same as God, why then did Adam and Eve eat the fruit? the serpent clearly told them that they'll be as gods if they eat. Let me explain to you pls, the serpent was telling the son of God that he'll be god if he eats. You see the difference now? Adam was created as the son of God. Sin made him god.

Also, i know you've not really read so i'll help you. The Israelites have always been a proud people and called themselves gods and this is why they refuse to obey God. Jeremiah 2:31 has them saying they're lords and will not obey God. This is why those unrepentant people who met Jesus have a funny interpretation of Psalms. Remember he was talking to the Jews in that place, the same people the bible says rejected him Sinners are gods, but if you're say you're gods then i know you're one sinner or don't have a clue of what you're saying.

Anyways, take some time to study pls. I know what you say is incorrect so i'll advice you to go into the book and stop reading the bible out of context pls. Psalm 82 is talking about judgment and God was talking to judges of the earth. Not this funny idea you have on your mind.

nencounter10:
You are making me sound like a broken record.

When a person calls himself a son/child of God, he is actually calling himself God That was the Crux of of the issue the Jews had with Jesus. All Jesus did was merely call God his father. The Jews took up stones to stone him because they knew that by if anyone called himself a child/son of God, he was by implication calling himself God. Jesus never contested nor corrected that conclusion, instead he corroborated it. Every time you call yourself a son of God, you are calling yourself God. I can tell for free that if this were back then in Jesus' days, all those Christian's who go about calling themselves children of God would get crucified like Jesus was crucified.

Calling yourself a Son of God is the same as calling yourself God. So, each time the Bible calls us sons of God, it was actually calling us God.

You said God called those people God's in Psalm 82:6 because they already called themselves God. That's not true. There is nothing in that chapter that suggest it. You write-ups are riddled with personal opinion and not Gods opinion. Since you can't wrap your mind around the fact of a child of God being God, you are going about twisting God's word with personal opinions to prove that that fact is not true.
Christianity Etc › Re: Are We Really Gods? by knowingChrist(op): 10:02pm On Aug 22, 2022
This is a well written material. For this I'll say welldone.

However, your premises for this is incorrect and pardon me for saying this.

Jesus says the scriptures called them gods bc they had already made themselves gods by creating their own ways and taking judgment by their own hands and not the standards of God. This is what Jesus was telling and it's the context of psalm 82.

I don't know where you heard what you said but I'll advice you to study the topic again and ask yourself this: why didn't any of the apostles call us gods? Why did they refer to us as sons of God and not gods? Why did Adam who was the son of God wanted to be god?

nencounter10:
Jesus Christ's proved the correct interpretation of Psalm 82: 6 is with reference to deity when he quoted it in John 10:34. He called God his father and the Jews tried to stone him. He asked why they were trying to stone him. They told him it was because you, a man, are calling yourself a deity. His response was that there was nothing with me, a man, calling myself deity after all God had called humans deity in the scripture. Jesus' correct interpretation of Psalm 82:6 proves that a man can be God.

If you have ever read any of the prophesis of King David concerning Jesus in the Psalms. In many of them he seem to be talking about himself. Reference to them by Peter and Paul made it clear he was prophesying. Consider an example: Thou wilt not abandon my soul in hell, thou will not allow they holy one to see corruption. If you read that verse in context in the Psalm, you will conclude he was talking about himself, yet Peter, on the day of Pentecost gave the correct interpretation to mean he was referring to Christ. Similarly, contrary to the conclusion you came to on reading Psalm 82:6 in context, Jesus gave the correct interpretation in John 10:34 to mean calling men Gods.

The assertion that if God begat us we are Gods is not flawed. It was the very reason the Jews nearly stoned jesus. It was the very reason they killed him. It stood to common sense to the Jews that if God were to have a son/child, his child will also be God because all beings give birth to children after their kind. Jesus in his reaction to the Jews in John 10 agreed with then. In stead of telling them that their conclusion was wrong, he instead said their was nothing wrong with him claiming to be God.

It is not true that the Greek makes no distinction between Gods and gods. Greek language has but capital and small letters. The Greek language also has rules for capitalisation. They could have simply used a small letter in place of a capital letter in the word Theo.

The Hebrew word Elohim is used exclusively in scriptures to refer to God. If you say this is not so, then give me a scriptural verse we're it is not so. I will readily prove you wrong. I have a copy of the original text.

When a person is born again, he is born of God. He receives the exact same nature God has which Bible calls the Divine nature, that is, nature of deity(2 Peter 1:4). Also, he receives the exact same life God has called Eternal life. (1 John 5:11). If a person who is born of God has the exact same nature that God has, and the exact same life that God then he is definitely God. God has the Divine life, the life of Deity- Zoe. His children have have the Divine life , the life of Deity called Zoe. They are definitely Gods.

You said spiritual birth is different from physical birth. That is true. Bible gave us the basic difference between spiritual birth and physical birth.

John 3:6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

Physical birth produces physical beings, spiritual birth produces spirit beings. God is a spirit, when he gives birth to children, his children are spirits ( who live in physical bodies).

My advice to you is to consult different translations and the original text often when you study your Bible. It will make things clear to you. I suggest you start with John 1:13 for a start . You will see reason to change your mind.

Christianity Etc › Understanding Romans 10 by knowingChrist(op): 9:39pm On Aug 22, 2022
Today’s study will be a right dissection of Romans 10.

Romans 10:1-3

This part is talking to very zealous people who are yet to be saved, they are a people whose zeal is even recognized, yet the apostle Paul prays that they should be saved.

In the modern world, this kind of people will pay all tight, will be serving in church, they'll be a prayerful kind of people, and will always go for evangelism. These people will be the standard that the world calls a good Christian. They might even be teaching the word of God to others.
As Paul just said, they have a recognizable zeal for God. Yet they do all these things without knowledge of the righteousness of God. So despite being the standard of a religious kind of people, they're not enlightened, and so they're not saved.

Israel of this time when Paul wrote was like the pinnacle state for godliness; it's exemplary for religious states. Yet Paul says that they're not a saved people. Why did Paul say this:

It’s because they do not know God's righteousness, so while being ignorant, they establish their own righteousness. When they do this, they won't submit to God's righteousness.

Learning:

To truly understand these people, we need to ask the right question first.

Why was it that they didn't know God's righteousness? They didn't know God's righteousness because they didn't study God's word to know him & his character which is his righteousness. They are a very religious kind of people, which means they obviously read the scriptures a lot yet they are totally blind. Israel is a very traditional state with a rich history so these people who Paul was talking to are blinded the by traditions of their fathers, & their rich history.

In today's world, this kind of people will definitely be called Christians, but they'll be Christians who preach without preaching the righteousness of God. They'll be Christians whose teachings contradict the righteousness of God. These Christians will be part of a very religious state that has a rich history. This means they'll be part of a big church system and will be quick to reference words of dead fathers of that church system when discussing, in fact, they'll be like the Israelites who are quick to reference Abraham and Moses. This kind of Christians will quickly reference past fathers of their church system and ask you if you know better than them when confronted with the truth.

Though they'll be called Christians but are not saved because they're blinded by the traditions and history of their church-state. They’re a people who do not know the righteousness of God and will be rebellious to the righteousness of God because of their church's righteousness.

Romans 10:4
For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.

Here's where the whole thing starts to get delicate. This part starts to explain the righteousness of God that was mentioned in Romans 10:3. We can see this because it starts the verse with the word "for" which is a word used to indicate that the statement explains the preceding statement.

This verse is saying that Christ is the end of the law, meaning Christ completes the law. This means the law was incomplete and Christ is what completes it. The law is the beginning, Christ is the end, and the law leads to Christ so the aim of the law was to lead people to the aim of it, which is Christ Jesus.

Therefore, no one should still say "thou shall not kill" when they have seen Christ because "thou shall not kill" is incomplete. It doesn't come with why should we not kill? Looking at Christ gives us the reason for "thou shall not kill". A person who looks at Christ will not just hold on to "thou shall not kill", they'll also understand that they should not attack a person who tries to kill them, they should pray for & forgive those who tried to kill them, etc.

Romans 10:5
For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law, That the man which doeth those things shall live by them.

This part like Romans 10:4 explains the righteousness of God mentioned in Romans 10:3. This part says that the law is for those who do these things. For example, thou shall not kill is a law unto a person who kills. It’s not to someone who does not kill. The law was given to them to stop them from doing what they did, it doesn't mean that they're saved. A person who does not kill is still unsaved just like the one who kills, there's no difference between both of them. The law only prepares a people for Christ. So he who does not kill still needs the righteousness of God in Christ to be saved.

A person who does the things the law talks against should live by the law, but a person who doesn't do these things has no business looking at the law.

Romans 10:6-7
This part like Romans 4 & 5, also further explains the righteousness of God mentioned in Romans 3. it explains what the righteousness of God entails; it's of Faith.

This means we need to first understand the concept of faith to properly understand the righteousness of God. For the righteous will live by faith and the faithful is righteous to God. Faith and righteousness of God are intertwined. It also tells us what faith says, which leads us to the next verse.

Romans 10:8
This part is the continuation of Romans 10:7. it tells us what faith says: the word of God is in your mouth and in your heart.

This means a person who has faith is a person who has the word of God in their mouth and in their heart. Therefore, a person who has the word of God only in their mouth is faithless. To have the word of God in the mouth is to speak the word of God but to have it in the heart is to obey it. Therefore a person who does not obey the word of God is a faithless person. it also ends the verse by telling us that they (the apostles) preach faith, which as explained is to be having the word of God in the mouth and in the heart.

Romans 10:9
This part is Paul explaining what they preached, which is that if anyone confesses Jesus with his mouth and believes in his heart that God raised him from the dead, such a person will be saved.

The mysterious thing here is that Paul was explaining why God raised Jesus from the dead. So Romans 10:9 is explaining the whole concept of the righteousness of God and faith which we've been discussing from Romans 3; it’s showing us the link between faith and righteousness, which things we see in Christ.

What do we see in Christ? What was special about him? Why did God raise him from the dead?
The exemplary thing about Jesus was his obedience to the word of God and allowing the plan of God to be made manifest through him. Jesus was a man who since his birth took the word of God seriously and studied hard so he might know the mind of God through his word, and he
obeyed everything that he studied even unto death. This before God is righteous and God raised him from the dead because of this.

Therefore, if anyone believes that God raised Jesus from the dead just by studying and obeying the word of God, they shall be saved. Jesus never gave sacrifice, he never paid any tithe, and he never took anything as an offering to God. All he did was study and obey the word of God. This one reason was why God raised him from the dead. Anyone who believes this shall be saved.

Romans 10:10
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

This part further explains also the whole concept of the righteousness of God mentioned in Romans 10:2 and the Faith mentioned in Romans 10:8, and sheds more light on the link between faith and righteousness.

To better understand this verse, we’ll have to divide it into its component parts.

Part 1
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness

Recall, to believe in the heart means to obey the word of God. Therefore, obedience to the word of is the righteousness of God. This righteousness is a person’s access into the kingdom of God, for the kingdom of God is the kingdom of righteousness.

Part 2
; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

This part is linked to the first part. As pointed out, this whole verse explains the link between the righteousness of God and faith. This part makes it even clearer.

Its starts with a semicolon, which is used to indicate a close link between different parts of a statement. It says confession is made with the mouth unto salvation. This means that whoever confesses with their mouth shall be saved.

The question here is this: what shall they confess? What is confessed unto salvation?
A person must also confess Jesus i.e. admit and acknowledge his way, that it’s the right way. Confession is to make known Christ Jesus by speaking about him and the life he lived. It’s to admit that your way of life was corrupt and that this way that’s seen in Christ Jesus is the right way to live.

The lesson here is that obeying the word of God is righteousness, and speaking about Jesus and his life is faithfulness. A person who obeys the word of God finds it very easy to speak publicly about this Christ Jesus whose way they follow. Such a person is counted righteous and is saved through the testimony of their mouth (Revelation 12:11); which is speaking out about Jesus; to make him known in the world.

Romans 10:11
For the scripture saith, whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

This part is where Paul starts to explain the meaning of “believe” that he first mentioned in Romans 10:9. He says whoever believes shall not be ashamed. The word “ashamed” is to be guilty as a result of one’s action(s). This part makes a reference to every other part of the scriptures which are all making reference to the beginning when they disobeyed God and were ashamed. Disobedience to the word of God led them to be ashamed but whoever believes shall not be ashamed. This means to believe is to obey the word of God and as many who obey the word of God shall not be ashamed, but as many who disobey shall be ashamed (Psalm 25:3)

Romans 10:12
This part is talking about the universality of the reward for obedience to the word of God and the ability of God to save. Anyone who obeys the word of God shall be saved irrespective of their race or gender. As many who call on him shall be saved

Romans 10:14
How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?

This part is explaining Romans 10: 12 – 13; it’s giving step by step explanation of how a person can call on the name of the lord as mentioned in these verses and be saved.

To properly understand this verse, we need to break it into its component parts.

Part 1
How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed?

This part is a question Paul asks. He puts the question in such a way for a person to understand that believing is what gives us the right to call on the Lord. Therefore, a person who doesn’t believe in Christ has no right to call on him. Since we know that believing means obeying the word of God, therefore obedience to the word of God is what gives us the right to call on Jesus. For even Jesus made it clear that obedience is the yardstick for anyone to call him Lord (Luke 6:46-49), and anyone who calls him lord without obeying him is on a futile mission for attention.

In fact, it’s well written in the scriptures that God says he won’t hear those who disobey him, and he won’t recognize them when they call him. Proverbs 1:28, Zechariah 7:13, Isaiah 1:15.

Part 2
and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard?

This part is another important question Paul asks. It’s the last step in a step-by-step analysis of the cause of believe. It says a person must hear the word of God before they can believe it.

What is the word of God that needs to be heard and believed to give a person have the right to call on Jesus?
The word of God is the totality of his commandments created for a righteous life. The word of God is the commandments that Jesus taught us how to fulfill and instructed us to teach others to observe.

The commandments of Jesus are carried in his gospel. It’s the commandment to live like God and seek the righteousness of God at all costs. Some of these commandments include:

That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.

Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee; Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift. The rest of which are contained in the four gospels. Anyone who hears these commandments of Jesus and obeys them has the right to call on the name of Jesus.

Part 3
and how shall they hear without a preacher?

This is the last question in the verse. Paul indicates here that no one can hear the word of God on their own because all men are originally spiritually deaf and blind. It takes a spiritually enlightened person to teach an unbeliever to obey the word of God and know his righteousness. Paul indicates that the word of a preacher is to make people hear the word of God which are his commandment. The function of a preacher is to show people the righteousness of God that we inherit by living like Christ; for we preach not just by only our mouth, our lives showcases the righteousness of God for others to see and glorify Christ.

Romans 10:15
And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

This part is very important because it’s where Paul starts to describe the character of preachers of the gospel and the nature of the message they carry. This part helps us understand what’s happening in our present world and how we can spot preachers of the gospel of Christ in a world full of false prophets.

To fully understand this verse, we’ll need to break it into its component parts

Part 1
And how shall they preach, except they be sent?

This part is a continuation of the questions Paul had been asking. Paul tells us that the first attribute of the preacher is that he’s a messenger. He’s a person sent by God to teach people his commandment and to show them his righteousness.

Recall, Paul said no one will believe i.e. obey the commandments of Christ unless they hear from a preacher, then he says a preacher must be sent. Therefore, if a person is sent, their preaching will be effective. But if a person is not sent, their preaching will be ineffective and will cause the unbeliever to be more rebellious to the word of God. In fact, Jesus says their preaching will worsen a soul and make the person twice the person of death and destruction than they were before they preached to (Matthew 23:15).

This explains the state of the present world, a world where people are out rightly not Christ-like, and this is because the profanity in the world comes from the mouth of preachers who are not sent (Jeremiah 23:15). Their words create a resistance to the word of God in those who hear them. The level of disbelief in the present world is only a testament to the number of false preachers in the world. At best a false preacher will make false believers, i.e. those who believe in Jesus only with their mouth, yet are disobedient to the commandment of Christ; they’ll make people who have a zeal for God but are ignorant of the righteousness of God as Paul explains at the beginning of this chapter. The false preachers' teaching cannot lead anyone to obey the word of God because they do not preach the righteousness of God. Only preachers sent by God will teach the mind of God. It’s in preaching that believers will replenish the depleted world as ordained the Genesis.

Part 2
as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace

This part explains the nature of the message carried by preachers who are sent by God. Paul says the message preached by these people is peaceful. It’s a message that brings peace to a turbulent heart. It’s a message that brings peace to a warring society. Everything about this message is peace; it brings inward peace to the hearer and makes them act in peace with others, and it’s delivered through peaceful measures.

The implication of this message is that any gospel that doesn’t give peace to the hearer and cause them to act in peace or delivered through peaceful measures is not a message from those sent by God. Most of the religions present in the world propagated their message through war and violence and some still apply violence as a measure to exercise their faith, all these messages are not preached by those sent by God. The implication of this is a very violent society.

The present world is a very violent one. Almost every sphere of the world is deeply rooted in violence. Even the internet space which is supposed to be a safe haven has now become as violent as other spheres of the world. This indicates the shortage of preachers of the gospel of peace. Many ears have not heard the gospel of peace, and this is why many do not even know what the righteousness of God is.

Part 3
, and bring glad tidings of good things!

This part is also talking about the nature of the message which these preach who are sent will carry. It’s a good tiding. It’s going to be good news. It’s going to give step by step process towards a better life for every listening. It’s not a message that brings fear into the minds of listeners, instead, it’s going to bring confidence to every listener and give them a reason to obey the commandment of Christ. People will naturally be repulsive to a message that is not of peace or preaches condemnation instead of good tidings.

As many as received him, to them he gave the power to be sons of God.

How do you received Christ? Is it by disobedience to the word of God?

What does it mean to be sons of God? Are you aware that a son does the will of his father.

Never did the bible call believers gods, all the apsitles made it clear that we're the sons of God. Even Jesus called himself son of God. Jesus also say that unrighteousnes people who the word of God came to are gods and the bible makes it clear that jesus came to his own but his own received him not. Only unrighteous judges of this earth did the bible call the gods.

Study this things holistically by reading from Genesis pls. Don't scheme around in the word of God to pick verses that suit you. Follow the thread from the beginning of the bible and you'll see the difference between gods and sons of God mean.

Are you aware that Adam was the son of God in Genesis? Luke 3:38. Why did the serpent tell Eve that they'll become as gods if they disobey? Do you see the difference? Son of God is through obedience to the word of God but gods is through disobedience.

We who believe in Jesus by obeying his commandment are the sons of God. We are born by the word of God and this why were the sons of God. But those whose Christianity is in their mouth while their righteousness is theirs and not that of God are gods. They know more than God and all his disciples. They create their own doctrines and live the way they want. They're gods.

So I'll leave you here bc our destination is different.. We don't need to make this communication long than it should bc we're different. You're a god but I'm not. Let's respect our differences pls.. light and darkness don't have any business. Have a lovely day.. May the peace of Christ find you, and may the knowledge of his person come upon you through your obedience to his commandment. Amen.

nencounter10:
knowingChrist Yes Bible called Jesus God.

We see this in John 1:1
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

If you read down the above chapter you will know that the Word there was referring to Jesus.

John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

We also see this in Philippians 2:5
Philippians 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: 2:6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

A child/ son of God is God.
If God were to give birth to children, his children will be beings after his kind.

John 5:18 Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.

We are not children of God because we obey God. We are children of God because God fathered us. He gave birth to us. We came out of his loins.

John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 1:13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

James 1:18 Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

Children are beings after the kind of their parents. A son/child of God is God.

Note we are not gods but Gods. That was a translation error. In the original Hebrew text, what was translated gods in Psalm 82:6 is the Hebrew word Elohim. Which is the same word translated God in Genesis 1:1.

The word translated gods in John 10:34 is the Greek word Theo which is the same word translated God in John 1:1. In fact, in John 10:34, the word Theo was capitalized in the original Greek text.

What you need to ask yourself is this: " Did God father us?" , if yes, we are beings after his kind, we are Gods.

Everyone knows that Enock prophesied just Noah prophesied but there's no written record of their prophesy though we know they prophesied of the end and the coming of Salvation in Christ.

Is there also the book of Noah in your archives? bc Noah and Enoch were similar in that they were righteous and separated from the rest.

Like i said, there's nothing like book of Enoch bc there had not been a nation before this time. What they had was proper Education of family three and precepts through the word of mouth. Genesis didn't reference any book, Genesis is the beginning of everything and that's why it's called Genesis. However certain word of mouth will also be seen in Genesis bc such word of mouth are the truth and the rest you can't find are lies. Nothing outside the bible is true. It's a forum and intend to learn even as i intend to teach plus, there's a popular narrative like yours where pastors are deceiving people that they're gods, in defiance of their place as the sons of God. So i asked the question to that i might break this table of lies that you're standing on.

Dear max. i'll advice you take some time to study but i know we're in the end times when people don't study to know the truth, everyone just speaks from the imagination of their mind and want to force this their imagination as the word of God.

That said, if you so believe that man is made in the likeness of God, then we expect God to sin anytime soon bc Man sinned. if Adam was truly in the likeness of God, then i imagine you assume that a person called Satan made him fall and other stories you might have in your mind. So why can't this person also make God fall? if He could defeat Adam then he's suppose to defeat God too bc Adam is like God. remember for one is for all? the same principle that killed all and also saved all. If Adam was like God and satan could defeat him then satan can defeat God bc for one is for all.

However, we know only Christ is the likeness of God and this is why Christ is without sin and why he defeated the deception and wickedness of Adam. Even so, we who are born to be the likeness of God too cannot sin 1 John 3:9, confirming that your Father Adam was not the likeness of God because he could sinned. I know you don't know these things I'm saying and would rather speak instead of learning but i'm taking time to reply you because of curious mind who might really want to learn.

All that stories up in your mind are not biblical they're just falsehood that the world has ingrained in your mind so that your foundation is laid on sand instead of rock. Like many of your brothers whose foundation are like yours, all of you talk without learning and there's the wickedness of the pride of flesh that blinds them from learning.

it's important that you start leaning the truth by first asking the right question. don't be led astray because your religion propels you towards doom. I'm a Christians quite alright, a fervent one by that matter but i know that this false Gospel is not of Christ so i have taken time to learn Christ so i might be like him, something impossible for Christians whose foundation is sand which is why there ar eso many Christians in the world yet unrighteousness is at its peak. I'll like to show you Christ if you let me Max, i'll like to take you through the scriptures by asking you question that might open ur mind.

Let me leave you with this question since you're so sure that Genesis 1:26-28 is talking about Adam
Are you aware that replenish just means renew, return to original form, refill, restore etc
Why is there the need to renew a new world? why is there a need to refill a full world?
i would imagine that you do not know that the meaning of replenish is to bring back to original form or return to original plan? why would God tell Adam to bring the world to original plan when the world had not fallen away?

Does your mind ever tell you that this part of the bible is talking to Believers and not Adam? does your mind ever agree with you that Christ is the image and likeness of God? Colossians 1:15-17 Hebrews 1:3 2 Corinthians 4:4
Does your mind ever agree with anything the bible says?

MaxInDHouse:
This is your question:

Are we really Gods?

So if you already have a preconceived thought on the topic you supposed to go straight up to what you have in mind instead of asking others what they think about the question.

From what the Bible said i will quote:

And God said, Let us make man in our IMAGE, after our LIKENESS: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. Genesis 1:26

Regarding other creatures God said:

And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good. Genesis 1:21

So if God's word refer to the firstborn image of God {Colossians 1:15} as God {John 1:1} what then is man who is also created in God's image? Well the Creator never refer to animals as his children but regarding Adam God's word called him His son {Luke 3:38} because Adam was created with the ability to make things better unlike other creatures who has continued to exist and live the same way throughout their generations man has created lots of things like cars that can move faster than the cheetah, planes that can fly faster than eagles, submarines that can convey hundreds of people from one continent to another continent which the largest whale can't do, skyscrapers that's as tall as mountains, telecommunications, internet, electricity, automobiles and many more while other creatures just remain the way they are.

Well if you feel it's just a coincidence then i don't the reason why man can do all these is because we are created in the image of God so we are gods. The one and only problem we have is trying to rule as in set standards for our fellowman which God forbids us from doing! Genesis 2:17

May you have PEACE! smiley

I don't think you understand what I said

The name Yahweh is describing a particular person and that person is Jesus.

Dragon and serpent as mentioned in revelation is also describing a person and that person is Adam.

Maynman:
Yahweh is a description but the person who’s Yahweh is jesus.
Earlier you said serpent is a description, now it’s a person bwahahahah
