Weda it was judas or jelili...the act is not heroic

...just as the act of those that killed jesus and nailed him to the tree was not heroic....
The acts were heroic because they helped Jesus accomplish his suicide mission. Jesus could have committed harakiri like a Japanese General. He could have returned to the top of the mountain where he was tempted and thrown himself off. There are a thousand ways to kill yourself that Jesus could have chosen. But no, he hid in a garden.

If the mission of Jesus was to simply die by any means, then Judas can be conceivably criticized.

If the mission of Jesus was to be murdered, then Judas just helped the issue along because Jesus was refusing to turn himself in to the authorities to do the needful.

If the mission of Jesus was to be betrayed and murdered, then Judas is a hero.

Personally, I think they probably named the betrayer Judas to impugn the name and memory of one Judas Maccabaeus, who was the exact opposite of Jesus.

Some Africans have been so thoroughly subjugated that they impugn their own ideas based on the bigoted view of Europeans. Meanwhile, the European practices his own juju and fetishism but calls it religion. For Bleep sake, these assholes even have a ceremony where they eat the flesh and drink the blood of the magic Jew, they carry around their crucifixes but it doesn’t occur to their arrogant and ignorant mind that the crucifix is also a fetish. The word “joujou” that is used to disparage African metaphysical ideas applies more to their greedy little cult they call Christianity.
What is the difference between their pope and your local priest if not the centuries of stolen wealth that props up the former? Their beliefs are equally bullshit.

Look how they describe fetishism:
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fetishism
Initially, the Portuguese developed the concept of the fetish to refer to the objects used in religious practices by West African natives.[4] The contemporary Portuguese feitiço may refer to more neutral terms such as charm, enchantment, or abracadabra, or more potentially offensive terms such as juju, witchcraft, witchery, conjuration or bewitchment.

Dream17:
Yes, there is plenty of bad evidence -- biblical stories, personal testimony, miracles. Etc… It's terrible evidence, but it is evidence of a kind.
Why do you consider any of these evidence at all? They are not evidence of anything at all talkless of being good or bad.

Dream17:
None of it holds up to critical inquiry. Good evidence is that which comports with reality.
But why subject them to critical inquiry in the first place when they are just wild claims with absolutely no evidence.
You mentioned Bible stories as “bad evidence”. Do you subject all mythologies to critical inquiry or just certain ones?

Dream17:
It can be observed, measured, tested, and independently verified. It is the same for me as it is for anyone else in the world. We can make objective claims about good evidence. It's not very difficult. Bad evidence can be easily challenged. Old stories, opinions, un-evidenced assertions, violations of logic, erroneous claims, and the like.
Evidence is evidence. Bad evidence is no evidence at all because they don’t proof or support any assertions.

Dream17:
If one believes in a god that is not subject to the rules and regular function of the world, then how did s/he notice it?[/qiote]

By being told about it.

[quote author=Dream17 post=123472238]Is this god a simple mental construct that has no manifestation in reality?
Aren’t all gods simple mental constructs that have no manifestation in reality?

Dream17:
It is as useless as Santa or Unicorns -- a made up story. It makes no difference at all if I believe it or not.
Exactly. It shouldn’t be a question of belief or unbelief because they are obviously fabricated.

Dream17:
Now, if this god does manifest in this world, I would certainly like to hear about it. Wouldn't it be amazing to find such a god?
This sentiment is the cornerstone of faith. Some people have faith that some gods have “manifested in the world”.
How can something that’s obviously fabricated manifest anywhere in the world except in the minds of those who believe.

Dream17:
Here is a question for you though: how would you tell a God from a sufficiently advanced civilization of aliens?
That question is a nonstarter because I say confidently that gods are nonsense. Aliens that are more advanced (technologically) than us probably exist because I can fathom a more advanced alien race than humans, and the universe has more than enough material to fashion such a race.

Dream17:
I don't have the means of recognizing a god. How about you?
I don’t have to recognize a god because gods are as real as the Leprechaun sitting on my shoulder dictating what I write. Gods are characters created by people so there is no chance that one of them actually exists and that I would have to recognize it.

Dream17:
How would you recognize a god if you saw one?
How would you know it was not a highly evolved being with technology far superior to your own?
I wouldn’t call a highly evolved being with technology far superior to my own a god anyway. I would just hope the being isn’t as violent as humans and doesn’t destroy me before I can learn about it and from where it came.

Dream17:
Are you asserting that you have the ability to know what a god is? How do you know that?
Yes, I know what a god is. I know because they only exist in stories and often the result of humans anthropomorphizing the natural world. They are also superhuman characters that some people use to explain the universe or use to salve their existential dread.

Dream17:
Fine. Can you make an argument for that god? The result is the same. There is no reason to believe in a god that is self-contradictory. A god that violates the laws of logic is by definition illogical. What reason is there to believe in this god? It is the same as believing in a god that simultaneously exists and does not exist. It manifests as dry water. You are welcome to hold such an opinion but it certainly does not qualify as good evidence.
Gods don’t have to follow your rules. Have some faith!

Dream17:
God could be anything you imagine, right? No problem. What reason is there to believe in such a god? A disinterested god who is not there is no different from a god who is not there. There is no good reason to believe in such a god.
What you consider bad reason could be good reason to another.

Dream17:
And given the attributes that you mention… come on… how in the hell are you going to even notice such a being exists?
I saw the Light on the road to El Paso.

Dream17:
Again, you have merely created a story and have no means of verifying any such thing in a concrete way.
I have merely created a story. Now, apply that same sentiment to every notion of god you have ever hear of.

Dream17:
That which is asserted without evidence can be rejected without evidence ~ Hitchens' Razor
I agree. That’s why you don’t need to be an “atheist” when you can just totally dismiss the claim. Are you an atheist towards the god I created that you have been arguing against? Or will you just dismiss it as nonsense?

Dream17:
I did reference the Christian God. Did you miss that?
There is a Christian god? Where is this god?

Dream17:
Check the following passages: Psalms 33:11,
Some ancient Hebrew was praising his own culture from what I can tell. I don’t see any god making any plans. Am I supposed to consider the musings of some Hebrew as something objective.

11 But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever,
the purposes of his heart through all generations.
12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord,
the people he chose for his inheritance.

Dream17:
Jeremiah 29:11,
Again, some Hebrew wrote about what some Lord said, seemingly to motivate his people. Am I supposed to consider the musings of some Hebrew as something objective.

10 This is what the Lord says: “When seventy years are completed for Babylon, I will come to you and fulfill my good promise to bring you back to this place. 11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Dream17:
and Proverbs 3:5-6
This one sounds like the musings of some Hebrew conman.

5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.

“The Lord” is nothing more than a literary device.

Dream17:
No. Both God and Jesus change througout the books of the bible.
You act as of there is only one god in the Bible or that the Jesus character actually existed.

Dream17:
How is this not logically evident? Justice is necessary to society. A society without justice will fall to corruption and disorder. If all thieves were shown mercy after their thefts and forborne any punishment, the judicial system would have no power to enforce a law against stealing. One must decide who is deserving of mercy. In our own society who gets mercy from our judges, police officers, women, and some other groups? We call it unjust, but it is a system within which we live. Mercy is the suspension of justice.
Is it unjust to show mercy by granting a criminal parole?

Is it unjust to sentence a first time offender to probation while an habitual offender is sentences to community service for the same offense?

Justice: the quality of being fair and reasonable.
Mercy: compassion or forgiveness shown toward someone whom it is within one's power to punish or harm.

I don’t see why they can’t coexist!

Dream17:
Not entirely true. You are painting with a broad brush. I frequently visit places like r/atheism, and any atheist making a stupid claim there will generally be dragged across the carpet. Not just God claims by the way. You might want to check around that corner a bit and see what happens when an ignorant atheist tries to join the ranks. They get destroyed.
You write that as if r/atheism is an infallible authority. My favorite nonsensical r/atheism claim is that everyone is born an atheist as if a child knows anything at all regardless if it’s dog or god.

Dream17:
Lol. Having an idea of a god is just that: "Having an idea of a god" grin. Ideas do not manifest into reality just because you have them.
Exactly.

Dream17:
If that were the case, you would have just lost your head because I imagined a dark knight slicing it off. Imaginations do not qualify as evidence for anything.
Exactly. They are not “good” or “bad” evidence. They are not evidence for anything at all.

Dream17:
What universe are you living in? Everything is the set of all existent things.
I live in a 7D universe complete with leprechauns, unicorns, and sentient daffodils. Sometimes I visit this universe of yours.

Dream17:
A god that exists in no time and no space is not a part of the set of existent things. It does not qualify. It is nothing more than an imagination until you can demonstrate how it comports with reality.
Apply same to all gods including the one you are atheist about.

Dream17:
All you have said is "Ideas exist". So what? An idea of a God does not justify or bring into existence an actual god.
Yes. So there is no need to have a position of unbelief about any idea. A leprechaun is an idea just like a god is an idea.

Dream17:
I can imagine you eating a plate of shit, that does not mean it actually happened.
Any rando can say “The Lord said”, does it mean it actually happened?
Christianity Etc › Re: The Philosophy Of Spatial Dimensions And the Spiritual Realm by KnownUnknown: 2:19pm On May 30, 2023
Dream17:
You are a little confused. First, there are two distinct strains of atheistic thought. Second, I know of no atheist worth his salt, that would make the general assumption, "No gods exist." What most atheists assert is the following; "I have never seen good evidence for the existence of God or gods".
May I ask the atheists if they have seen “bad” evidence for the existence of god or gods?

Secondly, what makes the atheist an authority on “good” or “bad” evidence?

Thirdly, since when are gods subject to the rules and regular functioning of the world? Gods by definition are superior to man and the world.

Dream17:
Now, when an atheist makes the assertion that a god does not exist, they are willing to adopt the burden of proof. For example, the God of the bible is so contradictory that it can not exist. It is all knowing, but gives you free choice. That is NOT possible. It is either he knows what you are going to do before you do it, and he is all knowing -- and, you don't have free choice... or he does not know, in which case he is not all knowing
What if contradiction is a character trait of this god? This god could very well be amusing itself by giving contradictory instructions or this works could be a project to determine how beings with intelligence would act given contradictory instructions. The god could also be a disinterested observer who has run this world experiment countless times so that he knows what will happen 99.99 percent of the time and it only acts when that 0.01 deviation from norm occurs.
My point is that the atheist has no ground to stand on regarding how a god should act and base the existence of the god on his opinion about the god’s character.

Dream17:
and the Bible is lying and god does not have a plan. This god does not exist.
What plan do you mean?
Does the Bible refer to the same god in all the stories?
Is the god of Exodus the same god in Job?

Dream17:
The bible god is also supposed to be "just" and "merciful". If the bible god is just, he can not be merciful. Mercy is the suspension of justice. This is a direct contradiction and this god does not exist.
Why should justice and mercy be mutually exclusive? How is mercy a suspension of justice?

Dream17:
So, when an atheist makes a claim that any god does not exist, you might want to ask them which god they are talking about.
Oh, I agree! Quite often theist and atheist are just different sides of the same coin. One says Heads the other says Tails. The atheist just seems to forget that in order to say “god(s) does not exist” he has to have a god in mind in the first place. Same goes for the agnostic who just defines his god as “unknowable”.

Dream17:
I will not tell you that your god does not exist until you make a logical contradiction or posit something you can not possibly know.
Why should a god be subject to human logic?
If they posit something they can’t possibly know, it could be a simple case of lying.

Dream17:
A god that exists beyond time or space for example -- you have absolutely no knowledge of any such place.
A god exists wherever the person making the claim wants it to exist. He may have no knowledge of it but he has the idea.

Dream17:
A god that exists for no time in no space is nothing.
A god that exists for no time in no space is everything.

Dream17:
All thoughts and movements are temporal.
Gods exist as ideas borne of movement and thought.

LordReed:
See this article: https://www.theguardian.com/science/2017/apr/19/brain-scans-reveal-mind-opening-response-to-psychedelic-drug-trip-lsd-ketamine-psilocybin
This study is nonsense and the claim it makes is so simultaneously vague and general that it’s meaningless.
The summary of the study:
Psychedelic drugs induce 'heightened state of consciousness', brain scans show.

What does “heightened state of consciousness” mean? It’s such a vague statement that the meaning will depend on the readers biases.
The study itself is based on brain scan showing random activity. Since when did the brain not show random activity? I could hook a crack head up to the same brain scanner and claim they are in a “heightened state of consciousness “. I could hook Tony Montana, high on uncut cocaine, up to the same brain scanner and claim he is in a “heightened state of consciousness”. The study is meaningless babble based on perceptions of a drugged brain and silly opinions.

LordReed:
See this too: https://www.scribd.com/audiobook/592294888/DMT-and-the-Soul-of-Prophecy-A-New-Science-of-Spiritual-Revelation-in-the-Hebrew-Bible
This book also rubbish because it’s based on the ignorant idea that the authors of the Bible were actually seeing visions. Let’s examine the claims of the book:

Naturally occurring DMT may produce prophecy-like states of consciousness and thus represent a bridge between biology and religious experience.

The above is a nonsensical statement. What is a “prophecy like state of consciousness”?
Religious experience, like all human experience is inherently biological, so what bridge is he looking for?

• Reveals the striking similarities between the visions of the Hebrew prophets and the DMT state described by Strassman’s research volunteers.

Again what makes him think the Hebrew “prophets” were seeing visions? Allegorical writings that are misunderstood being erroneously labeled as visions does not support the drugged state of dmt users.

• Explains how prophetic and psychedelic states may share biological mechanisms

Agains what is the prophetic state that he speaks of?

• Presents a new top-down “theoneurological” model of spiritual experience

Just makes nonsensical claims that can’t be supported. Besides, there is no need for the term “theoneurological” because all ideas and experience include “Theo” are basically “neurological”.

I dunno why you think this is special. First off, I was being speculative about the explanation for certain things we observe under certain conditions. For instance some people under psychedelic influence seem to be able to be prescient, could it be that the psychedelics are breaking that limitation to perceiving only 3 dimensions? I don't know but I am willing to speculate that it is as a way of explaining it.
Provide evidence of anyone under psychedelic influence being “prescient”.
Not to be facetious, but psychedelics are just drugs and I don’t see any reason when to musings if a person under the influence if psychedelic drugs should be taken serious. The musings of a heroin addict are not considered “prescient” after all so why the musings of some asshole tripping balls on DMT?
