His parents and teachers failed him, they had no "teacher". It's a problem with many young people being told to do the right things without patient explanation. Don't wear this, don't do this, just believe this doesn't cut it for the greater percentage. Their mode of education and instruction makes them to think critically and creatively, so you don't just shove them away. They will go someplace else for 'answers'.
What would you tell him if you were one of those “teachers”?

What would you have done or said differently to avoid this sentiment?

“That was when I was like okay I don't think these adults really know what's happening I think because I was probably like seven eight.”

So you were wrong in saying Constantine made it state religion
Yes, he only got the ball rolling in organizing and formalizing the disparate cults of christianity. It was another emperor who did that in the year 380. Then the christians went on a murderous rampage against all other religious systems and were very successful in their violent purges. How about that for “Christian persecution”.
The Christians really do take a page out of Judaism with their penchant for striking blows while yelling out in pain.

Know your history. Constantine never made Christianity state religion. He only allowed that they worshipped without being harassed.
And yes he was a heavy underdog in that battle

End of that argument.

Well, it did become state religion and that’s the reason the Chief priest of Rome is the oldest office in Christendom. The Pontifex Maximus aka The Pope.

Well, if you live in a system organized according to that religion (say, Saudi Arabia), it's either you leave and go find a system based on atheism, or you live a quiet unobtrusive life, not always making noise that their religion is bullshit - while at same time enjoying a system created by same religion!
The only people enjoying “the system” created religion are the fancifully dressed men at the top of the shit pyramid. The delusion is strong with most of you people.
Which state based on the abrahamic bullshit or any religion can people lead “quiet unobtrusive life”?
The kleptomaniac Europeand that call themselves Israel or the Arabs drenched in blood and barbarity? America (though not based in religion) where instances of hatred often has some Christian perpetrator? India where the Hindus are trying to create a “Hindu state” while disregarding Muslims? Myanmar where the Buddhists would rather see a dead Muslim Rohingya than the Buddha himself? Tibet where the Dalai Lamas and their ruling priestly class held sway over the regular people and slaves?

Know your history. Constantine had almost zero chance of winning a battle. He saw sign of a cross telling him he'd be victorious with it. After, against all odds, he won, that was end of persecution of Christians in Rome.
I don’t care what he said he saw. Also, he was no underdog and was just involved in one of the the civil wars fought by those seeking the throne. Constantine’s choice to use christianity as the state sanctioned religion is also not unique because “church and state” often worked together to control the populace. Rulers often decided the religion of the state and citing Constantine betrays your own inadequate knowledge of history.
A lot of West African rulers converted to Islam for trade purposes with the Arabs, does that validate Islam?

Read the topic of the thread again. The question is why. The answer is that people can see Christianity working in other people's lives or it worked in their own lives. Example was Constantine - he believed it was what helped him win a tough battle
Working on their lives is meaningless babble. The A Roman emperor using the power of the state to legalize the religion is nothing special. Gods always need the state to legitimize them after all.

* Shall fallen, small mortals dare attempt to pass judgment on the holy Most High GOD?
** Does one know how truly ugly sin is and how bad it gets in one place or another that warrants GOD's righteous judgment... usually after bearing long with them.
*** Should we not all consider GOD's great mercy on those who do not deserve said mercy like the Ninevites in the book of Jonah and all those from the beginning of time who are beneficiaries of the cross / substitutionary death and resurrection of the Lord YESHUA, the MESSIAH?!

Know this... The Sovereign GOD Who made all and IS over all declares:

“Behold, all souls are Mine; The soul of the father As well as the soul of the son is Mine; The soul who sins shall die." - Ezekiel 18:4

"Now see that I, even I, am He, And there is no God besides Me; I kill and I make alive; I wound and I heal; Nor is there any who can deliver from My hand." - Deuteronomy 32:39

All the while remembering that...

"For I have no pleasure in the death of one who dies,” says the Lord God. “Therefore turn and live!” - Ezekiel 18:32

"He is the Rock, His work is perfect; For all His ways are justice, A God of truth and without injustice; Righteous and upright is He." - Deuteronomy 32:4

"The Lord is gracious and full of compassion, Slow to anger and great in mercy. The Lord is good to all, And His tender mercies are over all His works." - Psalm 145:8-9
That’s cute.

Yes God did! However, not directly.

God told israel they should not deal on slave trade.
Remember both the stranger and the fellow Israelites should be treated the same.

Israelites bought slaves from slave traders to relieve the slaves.

If morality is subjective then everybody is right. You cannot tell anyone that he or she is wrong .
We can only dialogue is there is an objective standard.
The notion that the god of the Hebrews is against slavery or scaring the Hebrews from slavery is a well worn lie. Apart from the fact that it is the same god “saving” them from the predicament he placed them in, the idea that this god is against slavery is ridiculous. The people who created him weren’t against slavery afterall.
After he saves them from Egypt this is his first instructions:
Passover Restrictions

43 The Lord said to Moses and Aaron, “These are the regulations for the Passover meal:

“No foreigner may eat it. 44 Any slave you have bought may eat it after you have circumcised him, 45 but a temporary resident or a hired worker may not eat it.

The dude is more concerned about the Passover mass murder meal than anything else. He is more concerned about the slave’s foreskin than his freedom or dignity.

Yet African politicians fear having a christian ruler! A true Christian not the fake churchgoing ones who equate churchgoing with Christianity.
African, and all, politicians only fear knowledgeable people or people capable of harming them. Christianity is a nonstarter and a Christian ruler is usually more corrupt than the norm.
Why is that? Well, if the magic Jew can forgive you for any and everything, why not act with impunity? Steal $1m and pay $100k to the “man of god” who invites you to the altar for special prayers while the sheep bleat hallelujah.
All supported by the book of Hebrew bullshit and psychotic fantasies. Abraham giving 10 percent of the loot to Melchizedek comes to mind.

That's exactly how Christianity conquered Rome by the way. Spectators could see for themselves that the Christians being executed and fed to animals were

Well, Congrats on your ancestors surviving the middle passage and slavery.
The truth is that people follow religion that works for them or that they see working for others. There's a reason only 2% of Haitians is Voodoo, yet that's the voodoo capital of the world. If you are Viodoo and people can see you live a pathetic life, why would lots of people become voodoo?
If you were a mess but straightened up once you become a Christian why won't people want a piece of that? That's human nature
Voodoo or Christianity has nothing to do with success or being “straightened out”. They are -
ideologies equally based on nonsense. If Christianity “straightened” anything out, African counties would be leading economic powers.

All these back and forth about indigenous gods and foreign gods are useless. Nigerians and too many other Africans are too busy answering the most basic questions to worry about intellectual or philosophical activities such as indigenous vs foreign gods and the effect on society.

The basic question that must be answered before discussing gods is, “what shall we eat?
Unfortunately, that question isn’t be answered satisfactorily.
