Can you share sample email you sent to the mp Belle110: Hey guys, it’s PPR time, I woke up to it by 7:00am today and I was told to check for an update on my application, lol, I kept breathing hard to the part that says my final application has been approved. Then I started shouting. Funny enough, the first gcms note I’ll ever order is meant to come in by Saturday this week.
Docs submitted at first when I submitted my application:
LOA Uncle letter of financial support His UK bank documents 4 months Passport photograph International passport data page My bank statements 4 months IMM FORMS
Another document sent later and added on through Abuja on 1st of March - Mpower loan document
Other documents sent letter and added by Abuja on 28th of March - Employment letter - IMM 5257b_1 - Letter of explanation
Because I never submitted optional documents, and as the name implies, it was optional, until I saw a post here that says it doesn’t hurt to submit them, I rushed to submit them because it can push your application further.
I needed to add new financial information to the IMM1294 form and correct would accompany you tick boxes on the IMM5646 form. These were updated IMM documents and I wanted it added to my application.
The MP requested for an update on my application from Ircc on the 9th of April and helped to pass the documents across plus proof of enrolment of courses for May.
I submitted documents again through Abuja and it was added on 3rd of May, like 2-3 days ago. - my uncles British passport/ a citizen - Another letter of explanation explaining funds/money/sponsorship - Some chats we had, screenshots - School transcripts and degree certificate - Nysc certificate - My CV - His business card, he owns and Co runs his law firm in the uk - My birth certificate
Application timeline: - submitted January 15 - Biometrics added in January 18 - Upfront medicals and updated to pass on February 22, 2022 - Eligibility review started on ending of march or 1st of April thereabout - On 9th of April, MP confirmed to me that Ircc told the office that Medicals and criminality has passed and eligibility is still in review.
I really appreciate the information I got on the platform, it made me wiser and strategical.
I didn’t submit a lot of docs cause I believe it’s not by submitting a lot, but the genuinity of each doc and the proof it serves.
Special shout out to Teemenzo, Nina, bucky for always answering my questions!!! I can’t wait for your pprs……… guysssss… can’t wait!

How long did JR take and what was your lawyer ManLikeMace: If you are a self sponsored applicant you need to pay attention to your application even more. I am a photographer and I was self sponsored with no scholarships. I payed half of my first year tuition and also had enough funds in my account for my remaining one and a half year tuition with living expenses for two years. Because I am a photographer I think I had to show that I had the whole money for my tuition saved as nobody would be here to continue my business even though I told them I had a studio here that’ll continue functioning after I’ve left. I also got rejected twice as my gcms notes said they didn’t think spending that much money to study photography was worth it and blah blah blah with some other things like family ties and all that so I had to switch my course to film making and explain from the angle of how nollywood is really growing and the need for more film makers in Nigeria and all that. I also spoke about how there are no good film schools in Nigeria and Africa in general compared to what’s available in Canada in my SOP. I still got rejected sha and because I knew my application was strong I did a judicial review, settled out of court and got my visa.
I also submitted a lot of invoices from work I have done for clients and also submitted the receipts for my camera gear I own just to show that I am really invested in my business. I submitted my business registration (very important) then submitted 3 account statements. One personal, one business and one was a fixed deposit type account with all my study funds in it. For my account statements I used the my VISA bank statement thing so I didn’t have to print out all my bank statements. I just got the slip and uploaded them.
I used my parents and siblings as family ties and didn’t submit any land documents and all that as I no get. I also spoke about how I have an established photography business here that I’ll be coming back to. I submitted my waec certificate but I no go uni so I didn’t have that to submit. I think that was the only educational document I submitted. I also submitted a police report.
Anyway if you are self sponsored I think you have to show you have enough money for at least two years to be on the safe side. I’m not saying this applies to everyone as visas are granted based on the officers discretion.
I hope this helps somebody out there. 1 Like |

Congratulations!!!! How much did JR cost you? mrkingz: Greetings everyone,
PPR ALERT!!! – via JR in 49 days (7 WEEKS)
This is ALL ABOUT JESUS!! He gets the Glory!!!
And to Nairaland; THANK YOU. I came in here at thread 17. Read my way through. Got all that could be got from excellent minds on this forum to pull a good application. I hope someone gets something that can be of a good help.
So, TIMELINE; 1ST APPLICATION . Online submission - Jan 22 2021 . Biometrics - Jan 25 . Background check - began almost immediately . IELTS request letter - Feb 10 2021 with deadline Mar 13 . IELTS Submitted: Mar 13 . Upfront Medical - Mar 13 . Medical updated to pass - Mar 15 . GCMS notes requested - May 3 . Refusal letter - May 27
REASONS FOR REFUSAL: 1. Personal assets and financial status. 2. Purpose of visit
. GCMS notes received - Jun 3; When notes came in, these were my observations: 1. My 2 children ages were wrongly captured 2. That I had lump sum whereas I didn’t have any. 3. Referred to my sponsor who was my Brother In-law as ‘’Uncle’’ instead of Brother In-law. I also had my Dad as Co-sponsor. 4. There was no Senior Visa Officer's comment. And it was during the JR process, when Rule 9 notes were requested that I got to know what the SVO's comments were. The SVO ‘‘accused me’’ of 5. not having career progression, no correlated employment history, no established relationship with my brother in-law and that even if there was a relationship, that there is ‘’no obligation’’ on him to pay for my studies!
Meanwhile, my detailed 8 paged SOP was very clear on Career progression; Mine was a career switch – from Biochemistry to Administration, With 8 years work experience cutting across Marketing, Public Administration, & currently as P.A.. My SOP was one of a story telling as I knew I had to convince the VO why the career switch.
On ‘’no obligation to pay’’; I submitted notarized gift deed, sworn affidavit of sponsorship signed by both sponsors. I made sure I covered everywhere cover-able..yet, breakfast was served! Check out the detailed TOC attached.
So, with all the errors and wrong conclusions i saw in the GCMS notes, I was convinced that the VO was being negligent with my application. I felt I had a strong application. I decided to go for JR straight. My mind was convinced and made up!
I reached out to a Canadian law firm. They were very professional. And 1st things 1st; they had to re-assess my application to be sure that my application was strong enough to go for JR. Their best hands went through it and in their own words - ''The refusal was unreasonable''. They saw that i had a good case.
A 10-paged document was prepared in my defense countering IRCC's reasons for refusal. If you see citations from previous Supreme court cases, flying around everywhere in my defense eh, omo, me ma, i was feeling good freading the whole paper work!
And yes, God's favor was all over it.
And today, 7 weeks after the application for JR/RE-determination was submitted, It has ended in praise.
JR TIMELINE . Submission of a 10-page document countering reasons for refusal prepared by lawyers – July 21 . Settlement offer agreed/reached – July 30 . Case open for re-determination/request for updated documents – Aug 11 . Updated documents submitted – Aug 16 . Raised web form & email informing them that I have uploaded requested docs – Aug 18 . Confirmation from IRCC that docs have been received – Aug 20 . PPR – Sep 8
ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE TO HIM THAT BELIEVES! WHEN GOD IS IN IT, THERE IS NO LIMIT!
I pray for everyone waiting on their PPR, YOU TOO WILL SHARE YOUR VICTORY STORY! Amen.
And by the way, did i mention that i just turned 40..

which consultant did you use for applying and JR greis1: Had to go back to my last post on pg 280 to drop my timeline
First Application: March 2020 Refused- May 2020 Second Application: July 11 2020 Upfront medical- July 10 2020 Refused- August 23 2020 Judicial Review- September 2020 Settlement offer- October 2020 Application reopened- December 10 2020 Medical passed- February 28 2021 BVL- March 11 2021 Medical expired, new request and submission- July 2021 PPR- August 6, 2021
My application was quite complicated— *at the time JR was done, I didn’t have an admission anymore (the college had even refunded me); I had to look for a new school (different program and province) and upload new LOA within the 30-day timeline. *According to the GCMS notes I got in June 2021, PPR was issued in April for the old LOA, and this was later cancelled after the visa officer noticed the new LOA.

What was the reasons for the two refusals and how did you overcome it Abimbola15: Hello Guys!
Came to share my testimony here. Visa was rejected twice and approved on my third visa application.
Started this journey in 2020.
1st application: April 23, 2020. Rejected September 23rd, 2020. 2nd application: November 23rd , 2020. Rejected March 10th, 2021.
3rd application: March 26th, 2021. Medical request July 12th 2021. Passport Request 29th July, 2021.
The journey was frustrating and tbh I had already given up and started looking into visa applications to other countries. You really need alot of patience to endure all of this. If you find yourself in a similar situation please request your gcms notes and really tackle the issues.
Really grateful to God and I wish everyone the best! |

can you share the IG of the lawyer MyRace: VERY VERY LONG POST ALERT! However, I thought to write this long so that different people can pick a thing or two...... Do read along....................
Hello everyone, thank you for your kind words and congrats to all who have gotten their PPR thus far. As promised, I'll try to share my story with you guys, even though it's incomplete as of yet.
Family of 5 Study permit for me and 3 children, visitor's visa for hubby Submitted June 10, 2020. Biometrics request June 11 Biometrics done August 24 (a day after VFS reopened) GCMS requested August 28 Refusal September 24 GCMS came back Sept 28
Now, from the GCMS notes, I noticed the following: 1. The decision to refuse was taken as at July 11! Guys try to order your GCMS as early as 6 weeks into your application. 2. There was an error in reaching one of the reasons for my refusal. I had done an MBA in Nigeria, going for a Masters of Finance, but the VO interpreted it that I had done an MFin previously and so there's no career progression.
Immediately i received the GCMS, I torn between reapplying and seeking a Judicial Review (JR). The reason I considered the JR in the first place was because I felt the refusal simply unfair and baseless. Yes, a visa is not my right, however, as long as an individual meets the guidelines set in place, it is only fair that they receive a positive outcome.
Another reason I considered it is because, it's an opportunity people rarely use and this has given VOs the leeway to keep refusing people on a whim. If more people contest their refusal and win, it will likely lead to an overhaul of the current system going on in Nairobi.
October 2, I contacted an Immigration Consultant on Instagram about the possibility of reapplying. After reviewing all my documents, he insisted I go for JR, but hubby was not convinced. 1 because he didn't want to "fight" the Canadian immigration system and 2, he wasn't sure if the outcome would be successful especially considering the cost difference between paying a lawyer and reapplying. Well, Consultant introduces us to an Immigration Lawyer. He reviews my documents again and said that I had a "Perfect" application, and so there's no reason for a refusal. Then he went ahead and offered to go ahead without a DIME being paid! If he loses, he goes away empty handed, but if he succeeds, then we pay a certain amount above the initial base amount. Hubby was more confortable with this arrangement.
October 29th after many back and forth, we submitted our application for JR. We were meant to get a response exactly 30 days which was to lapse on November 29th.
November 29th, Lawyer receives an email from the IRCC lawyers asking for additional 3 days to file their response.
And then silence, no further communication or even the expected response.
December 19th, I received an email saying there was a notification on my GCKey.
I logged on, and saw that the portion that usually shows "refused" had changed to "submitted". Every other member of my family's own still remained "refused". We called lawyer, he said he hasn't heard from them. Now, "success" with regards to our agreement with the Lawyer is when IRCC asks for "settlement". So at this point, it seemed like my application had been reopened without any agreement between my Lawyer and that of IRCC.
The wait was unimaginable!
January 12 I ordered GCMS and it came back February 12, and in it, it was stated that my application has been reopened because of a JR and my Lawyer has accepted the terms of the settlement!
Immediately, we sent the GCMS to him, still he maintained he hadn't heard anything from them. February finished, nothing!
March 3rd, Lawyer receives a letter requesting for a settlement on the case and the terms of the settlement. This was the exact same letter in my GCMS notes posted to my portal AS AT DECEMBER 2020! Anyway, we felt at least things are moving small small.
March 11, I received a request for additional documents. Really, what was important were new LOA and Financial statements.
March 24 uploaded the requested documents.
April 10 did up-front medical
April 29 Up-front medical passed
May 3, review for uploaded documents started.
June 16, Correspondence letter and PPR, 2 minutes apart.
Hubby and the children's applications were not reopened, we're currently in a dilemma as to whether to reapply for them or right a letter to IRCC. Your kind suggestions would be highly appreciated.
A few things to note from my personal experience:
1. The VOs are not as smart or as efficient as we tend to give them credit for.
2. Most times, approvals and refusals are given based more on feelings than clear evidence before them.
3. While I understand that JR is an expensive route, it would be nice if more people do it as it will highlight a lot of the rubbish they do at the embassy.
4. Lastly, let's be considerate to other people about how we boast after getting PPR. Trust me, the things you boast about: perfect SOP, Prayers, Documents etc, there are people who did all that and more and still got refused.
In the course of this journey, I also started to pursue a student visa in tbe UK before things started looking up, and believe me, the system with the British is far more transparent than that of Canada. Once you meet the requirements at submission, you are over 80% sure you'll be awarded the visa. But there's a lot of bias and subjectivity with the Canadian embassy.
I want to thank every single contributor to this Agile forum for the work you do! I submitted a "Perfect Application" ( according to my Lawyer) thanks to the stuff I got from here.
Also, I want to thank @frankrobben for his patience and selflessness here. People drag him all the time, but he never relents in being helpful. I remember the day I wrote about the JR option and his contribution and how he was dragged and insulted. Yet, he and I have never had any direct encounter and the Consultant and Lawyer did not come from him. Well done! I pray everyone gets their prayers answered as well 5 Likes |

What did you do different from the first refusal and how did you counter the reasons they gave for the earlier refusal Dabricious: LONG POST ALERT:
Good morning my people, I've come to share my timeline to encourage others just the same way I was encouraged with other people's timeline. God's time is truly the best.
Timeline 1st application: 30th August 2020 Biometrics:2nd September 2020 Refusal letter: 11th September 2020 I had 4 reasons for refusal - purpose of visit - limited employment prospects in my country -my current employment situation -personal assets and financial assets. The decision was made from their China office.
At that time I didn't know what gcms notes were and I wasn't active on nairaland so I just decided I will re-apply.
2nd application-23rd of February NSE request:16th March Submitted Mybankstatement(Submitted my own and my brother's company account statement) on the 29th March and also wrote to them to go through the normal route because I didn't have ielts (i had but my writing score was 5.5) upfront medical : 29th of April Medical passed: 19th April All these while my profile was still on background check. I became active on nairaland towards the end of May and I started reading other people's testimony/experiences and I started wondering when me too I will share my own good news. Before now, I could stay for 2 weeks without checking my profile but when I became active here, I started checking twice a day. I didn't even know what ghost update meant and had never taken note of it until I read about it here and started looking out for it. 1st ghost update: 7th June 2nd ghost update: 9th June Checked my profile and noticed they just updated that eligibility review has started Bvl: 10th June 8:38am Ppr : 10th June 8:42am I just fell on the floor and started thanking this faithful God. Mine is a testimony because its a switch from my first degree 1st degree was computer science, then I gained admission in George Brown College to study Culinary Management. Since after my service year in 2015, I've been actively doing catering business. I did a short diploma course with red dish culinary school in Lagos and have a certificate from it so I added it in my application. My elder brother is my main sponsor but used his company account to sponsor me, my elder sister also wrote a letter saying she will be supporting me financially and she put her offer letter and pay slips. I also showed about 4.6m in my account. Also, for more than 2 years, my brother's company has been paying me monthly because I cater for their lunch so this also helped as I indicated it as salary.
I put in a lot my brother's company documents even existing contracts they have with some IOC'S. I also submitted an Affidavit of support from the company.
I'm just so grateful to God because its not of him who Wills, nor of him who runs but of God who shows Mercy. Thank you to everyone here who kept our hope alive by sharing their own testimonies, you don't know how seeing good news here helped me believe mine will soon come.
For everyone waiting for their good news, it will soon come In Jesus Name.
On a lighter note: I dey find cheap ticket now oh

what was the reasons for the two refusals and what did you do differently in the third applications In terms of travel history, where did you go Ibkpgeo: Hello Guys,
Been a silent follower over the past few years. You guys are doing amazing tbh.
So this is my third application I was denied twice initially which really surprised me due to my extensive travel history etc.
I reapplied on the 23rd on January honestly due to pressure from my parents cause I had totally given up on the whole Canada thing however in exactly a month I got an update to proceed for medical my questions are 1. If I pass the medical does it make it sure that I will get the visa ? 2. The next available date for medical in Lagos is over a month a way is there any advice on how to get an earlier date.
Thanking you guys once again for the great work you guys are doing here. |
